This is quality item,I like it more than dremel because of following reasons:1-It is very quiet and the noise isn't irritating as much as other brands.2-There is not much vibration due to location of ball bearing which is extremely important if you work on delicate projects.3-It starts from 5000 rpm which is very good for precision works and goes to 20000rpm at max.It features 100w motor which at first glance you might think it is weaker than 130w of dremel, but the truth is due to feedback mechanism it is actually keep the torque high even under the load. After saying all those good things the question would be: Is it perfect then? well not 100%,the first thing that i didn't like was due to larger size of U.K plug, its hard to put back drill in the case easily and close it.The Second issue is max speed of 20000rpm which is not very fast for some application, it is OK but not perfect. Well maybe i am nitpicking a bit but if it hadn't two mentioned minor flaws it would be perfect machine for me.

Quite a good tool but on/off button is not great and you can switch it on and off far too easily, little resistance in the button. The odd occasion I've picked it up and had it turn on. The jaws are quite good but will seize up over time from dust ingress etc. i.e. when you got to open the jaws, the jaws just unscrew off instead. Can be eased off with a little WD40. Some attachments are ok but the sanding cylinders keep flying off and are not held onto the attachment extension well and the pilot hole drill bits snap too easily which can be a nuisance if you get a drill bit stuck in some wood in the exact place you wanted a hole. You can literally snap the thinnest ones in your fingers with little effort.

It's very comfortable to handle and operate, relatively quiet instrument. It produces really solid torque even on the lowest RPM setting. It comes in well made plastic box for the instrument storage and organizing of its accessories. The only complaint is runout on mounted tools. It's still OK for the standard accessories, but too large for the small-sized carbide drills. 0.8-1mm drills will probably work on PCB's, plastics, woods. All the above is about an instrument stuffed with the drill chuck.I satisfied with that purchase: overall solid, well-made instrument. It is difficult to find better at this price range.

I ordered this drill as a replacement for a similar drill purchased over a decade ago ago in Germany before Proxxon became popular in the UK.The replacement is as good as the original, cheaper and includes a handy set of tools.I have used this drill for all sorts of projects including major home improvements where its size and torque adjustment make it an outstanding performer and an essential part of the toolbox. It is usable in restricted areas and with the right angle drive attachment (available as a separate item) it gets into really tight spots.

I bought this make/model of mini drill after doing a lot of research, AND because I have owned one before..For my use the main DISADVANTAGE with the other (More famous) make is that the "slow" speed is way too fast.. Other makes are typically a minimum of 8,000rpm!This mini drill goes down to 5,000rpm and still has plenty of power at that lower speed...Ideally I would have liked a lower speed still of say 2,500rpm but it seems they are not now available anywhere. To sum up..This mini drill is powerful, Quiet and very well made.Highly recommended.

This is an excellent little drill. I've used Proxxon accessories in the past with other micro-drills, but this is the first time I've used an actual Proxxon. Well made, quiet running, and quite powerful enough. Inspires confidence. It lives in a solid case. A few things a little less good which make it 4* rather than 5* - as is common, the case is not well adapted to a UK plug; and the two little packs of accessories are in pathetic plastic boxes which won't last 5 minutes, and then the accessories will just be floating around loose.

Only used this a few time, but i must say im very pleased with its performance, The torque on this machine is very good it don`t slow down on tough materials like it always did with the dremel, I`m very happy with my purchase and would buy again , :-)Update 11.11.2020After 5 years it finally gave up and died on me,. I cant and am not complaining, I certainly got my money's worth out of it and I had done many projects and made a few things , so yes I've already recorded a new one??.Ps ,And it came with a uk plug???

Had a blowout on Proxxon tools lately and this is no different its a nice sturdy well balanced fairly quiet piece of kit. It's got a keyless chuck! brilliant no more changing collets, I was looking at the dremal and its addons. But this is far better for a start they use metal and yet their still cheaper than dremal. You may want to buy 1 of those funny 2 pin euro plug adaptors at the same time. I just chopped it off and put a proper plug on it and use it, good bit of torque there for a small tool

The Proxxon FBS240/E is the first 'rotary tool' I have ever owned and used to some extent. Being mains powered means that, as an occasional user, I don't have to worry about a battery life's expectancy and also means that there's plenty of power at hand. It does feel solidly built and runs very smoothly. It's easy to handle with the only slight 'issue' for me being that the chuck locking button is too easily pressed when grabbing the machine whilst it's running.

I am very pleased with the Proxxon drill and use it mainly to drill holes and polish metal for small jewellery projects. It is easy to use and to change attachments. The box does not readily accommodate the plug and so I now hang it up ready for action! I would have liked the speed control to go to zero but that's a minor point. I think this product is good value for money.

This machine is first class. Nice quiet running, well balanced and easy to use. Its durability remains to be experienced but having used it extensively for several weeks now it is a favourite and I have no adverse comment. My Dremel needs a new chuck but I reckon it will be a better proposition to buy another Proxxon!

Exactly what I wanted , rather than the battery driven drill I had before, regarding the problems some buyers have withfitting a British plug - just buy an adapter - the same type a German visitor would buy on visiting the UK , they are a couple of quidand solve the problem of fitting the drill back into it's case.

22.2.2013

Plenty of power for those jobs that this machine is designed for. Appears to be very well built, too early to comment on durability but it feels as if it will last a long time. It's false economy to buy cheap tools unless it's for one job, so I'm hoping to get many years of service from this kit!!!

I have been very impressed by the look and feel of this product which arrived promptly. The tool feels "easy" in the hand, is well balanced and smooth in operation. I had never heard of Proxxon before and was also looking at Dremel.I am a modeller and thoroughly recommend this product.

Much happier with this than the Dremel 3000. Lower top speed, but the auto torque adjustment keeps it at a steady speed where the dremel would often struggle. Lower speeds also work better with the Proxxon. 9.5/10
