An excellent machine. I fully agree with those who claim that this makes the Dremel machines look like toys. Even on full speed this is quieter than my old, burnt out, Dremel used to be at it's slowest. I was a little put off initially by the low wattage but despite this, it is a powerful machine with loads of torque. The design also makes it comfortable to hold, pen like, in the hand for engraving etc.It is in the accessories department where Proxxon has missed a march on Dremel. Proxxon's range of accessories is minute compared to Dremel and most of the Dremel kit is incompatible with the Micromot's 20mm smooth aluminium collar. The Dremel is threaded plastic. However, anything which fits in the collet is ok.Also, I have to say from personal experience, some of the Proxxon accessories do not match the excellence of the Micromot machines. All that said however, nothing would tempt me back into the world of burnt out Dremels and I am more than happy with this machine. At first glance it may seem a little expensive but the engineering quality is there to justify the price and I highly recommend this machine. There is an excellent video on YouTube by Crimson Custom Guitars which superbly demonstrates the qualities of this machine.

I have looked at a number of tools from Proxxon and bought the IB/E rotary tool. They seem to aim at making very quiet, well built tools aimed at making small things (you may find them making too small a cut). This drill is sturdilly built, very quiet and very steady; there is little vibration making it an accurate tool to use. It makes a pleasant whir rather than a roar like some rotary tools. It is well constructed. The head parts are made of metal and not plastic preventing vibration and inaccuracy. The on/off button is separate from the speed dial which makes it much more pleasant to use than others I have seen. The tools are easily removed by a button and screwing mechanism; no additonal tool is needed. The speed dial range is from 5 to 20 thousand rpm.I haven't found this to be inadequate. The only problem I can see is getting parts; which will probably be via mail order. I haven't seen any proxxon items in stores like b&q.I am very pleased with my purchase and can easily see a quality product.

I bought this as replacement of a faulty Lidl promotion tool.As you can imagine the bar wasn't too high by now.Went looking for other tools and was drawn into Dremel but after reading some of the reviews I decided that this was the tool I wanted. No regrets here. It works hard, has been used to help building a trailer for my motorbike and has been working tirelessly for the last 3 months. The set of accessories that come in the box could me a lot more complete and this is the bare minimum they could get away with. Fortunately the attachments sold by Lidl fit in this. Although with a quality matching the price the variety is huge so it makes a good addon. What I don't understand is why they don't have a UK plug for the ones sold here. This means either you will have to cut the cable and install a UK plug or get an adaptor. This for the sake of saving a couple quid at manufacturing...Still, this is an excellent tool well worth the money.

Had this about 4 years maybe more. Used for tons of small projects including cutting old wheels off PC trolley and making new metal axles..re shaping screwdriver heads. Making straight screw/bolt heads into cross heads. Re shaping damaged bolt/ screw heads to enable removal. There's a youtube vid showing how to make small cutting discs from larger industrial ones to save money as Proxxon cutting discs are very good for precise delicate work but obviously wear faster due to reduced width. Also used for loads of small filling / cutting drilling projects and repairs drill extension toll is a must IMHO....Never owned a Dremel so can't compare but you can you can GooTube.I can provide pic as proof of purchase

I have (and still do use it..) a Dremell drill, reason why I do like this one.. it could seem without importance, but the fat of have a switch to cut off the AC is very important detail when you are working with this kind of drills... it has been not the first time that I have ended with my Dremell pushing its rpm control to the opposite way.. making it go to its maximum revs.. when what I did pretend was quite the opposite..So now I am happy been able to switch off without thinking about which way have I to push the sw lever.. :-)

The "quill" floats around a wee bit and needs careful positioning prior to using drill bits. Mine arrived with an EU plug on it so needs an adaptor for UK use. I was reluctant to chop off the EU plug and replace with a UK plug for fear of invalidating the guarantee should anything subsequently fail. Factor the cost of an adaptor into the price (unless you already have one) and value for money is not there. The unit comes fitted with a UK plug from some other suppliers and also at a cheaper price.

Quiet and powerful. I like it very much.If new to rotary tools it's annoying there aren't any instructions about burrs. What does each do? What is each made of? What material should each be used on? What speed? Quite a few have been destroyed finding out.The saw blade - wants to eat your fingers.Euro plug - I used shaver plug adapter and works fine. Something nags me about it having a 1 amp fuse. Hope it's not dangerous.

I debated about spending so much on a multi tool, but let me say no regrets. This is a joy to use. Smoothest most balanced & quietest iv'e used. Dont waste your money on a Dremell, this blows all of them out of the water.Superbly built and a joy to use. I use mine for mostly motorbike mods, cutting grinding etc, so it doesn't get the easiest jobs but works great.Feels like a tool that will last for many years.

After sending two dremel tools back as they ran so badly I decided to push the boat out and buy the proxxon. they are not the cheapest but the quality is excellent and it runs so smoothly. I would not go back to dremel even though I have a couple that are the old version that still run superbly but the proxxon has the edge all the way in both finish and running would buy again.

Great tool! After watching many youtube revies of this gadget I was sold. Seems to be superior to Dremel from all accounts. I bought this to drill printed circuit boards .. not yet started ... but I think this will do the job admirably. I also bought the proxxon drill press to go with it which for the purpose I need it for is pretty much essential. Nice bit of kit!

Excellent item received very quickly and well packaged direct from Germany. Would have been better with a UK 3 pin plug fitted instead of the Euro 2 pin one, but easy enough to change. I wanted this drill in a particular package with the right number of collets and accessories etc. Amazon had the best selection of the range, so made it easy to select the right one

I simply love this tool! I am an electronic hobbyist and I constantly use it to drill PCBs and even cut aluminum enclosures. I was torn between buying this one or a Dremel, and I am so happy I went with the Proxxon. I had it for over 8 months now and I use it daily in my workshop - wouldn't change it for anything else.

This is a fantastic tool and is lightyears ahead of a similar style Dremel. My old Dremel burned out for the last time and I started reading reviews on these and I was not disappointed. It's silly smooth to operate, unlike the horrible vibey Dremel I had. Definitely recommend. Only downside was I had to fit a UK plug.

I've not made use of this yet, but it does seem a very well made tool. I bought it to replace a Minicraft drill with the hope that it would allow more detailed precision grinding and on the one occasion of using it this does seem to be the case.

If it works long term as good as it looks, then I will be well pleased. Looks well engineered, sturdy & high quality & at least it IS made in a country with a reputation for good long lasting products, as opposed to Mexican Dremels!
