My mother bought this for me on her Amazon account and I have loved it since I opened it on Christmas Day.I bought a 3DS two years ago, eagerly anticipating that they would *PROBABLY* remake Ruby and Sapphire on the new system. And they did!!!I was delighted that it remained true to its values with the storyline, yet they have modernised it and added a few new twists, such as both Team Magma and Team Aqua being present on both games, rather than just having one criminal organisation.Secret Bases have been rejuvenated and it is now a lot easier to encounter them as you can find them via WiFi instead of direct link required on GameBoy Advances. WiFi also enables battling, trading and other features that have been present in more recent versions of Pokemon.Pokemon Amie and Training have returned like Pokemon X and Y which is an added plus. There is now sneaking and a DexNav feature which allows you to hunt and chain specific pokemon right from the start of the game. You click pokemon you have already caught that are present in certain Routes and then you sneak up on them and capture them, as you can see the grass shaking with the pokemon's outline. I find it much more fun than old versions of chaining and it means it's possible to get better pokemon before the game's completed.Free DLC is now downloadable as well through the Nintendo E Shop and the Delta Episode (which I am yet to complete) comes after the base game, which provides extra content beyond defeating the main antagonists.Flying is fun, contests are much more enjoyable with the 3D graphics and overall, I think it is a very well executed remake that old and new fans alike will appreciate. The only reason I bought Omega Ruby instead of

I bought both omega ruby and alpha sapphire after playing the same games around 10 years ago on the GBA and I must say the games are amazing! Probably the best pokemon games to have been made in my opinion. The graphics are amazing and there are so many new, amazing features such as: the ability to soar around Hoenn in the skies on mega evolved latias/latios, the different 'Nav' features on the bottom screen which can include information/news in the game, maps and information on the towns and the ability to find 'sneak' around and find hidden pokemon with egg moves, hidden abilities and of higher levels than normal random encounters. There is also the ability to rematch trainers and the return of secret bases along with the large amount of mega stones and legendary pokemon available to hunt down/find, as well as the return of pokemonamie and super training, which were introduced in pokemon x and y. The music for the games really is some of the most exciting to me and brings back so many memories from the original GBA game. There is also a very exciting post game with loads to do after beating the pokemon league. The Elite Four and Champion also increase in level after the first time you challenge them to make it much more interesting and exciting to go back and challenge them to get stronger. Character customisation does not return in these games however the number of new, exciting features available really does make up for it so I don't really mind. As a huge pokemon fan I am extremely impressed and excited by the games which are definitely deserving of 5 stars.

As I own both Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby, consider this a combined review.I have been a poke fan ever since a friend at Uni recommended red and blue.I thought, Ok, thats kids stuff, but once I got playing, I was hooked.I would say that most games in the series are excellent (although Black and White V2 are both very tough).AS and OR stand out as a great re-imagining of the original Sapphire and Ruby on Gameboy advance. If you are a hardcore gamer who is tired of repeatedly shooting things in the head, then I strongly recommend Pokemon - it is relaxing and interesting and a lot of fun.If you are not, I probably don't need to sell it to you. There is quite a strong message in OR and AS concerning our relation to nature and the environment, and what could go wrong if we neglect that relationship. This is sort of a continuing theme in Pokemon, but it is very well told in AS/OR.What is new: The maps are much the same, and the plot follows pretty much the same course, but the overall sense of progress is much smoother.Obviously the graphics are better, with 3D being used selectively as in battles and key points in the game. The exp. share has been modified to share xp with all party pokemon, so your team should be a lot more rounded after a while. There are a lot of nice touches - such as soaring which allows you to explore the map from above, multiple encounters, and many others.I think maybe gamefreak are being nice to us, because there is an abundance of money and legends - if you can catch them!Highly recommended.

So as a 19 year old I return to my favourite region of all time. I go for my favourite starter as well, the might Mudkip! The game was thoroughly enjoyable and brought me back to the days of 2003 when I was 8 and worked through it almost with my eyes closed (I literally know the map by heart and they haven't changed it). I completed the main story and the delta story within a day which I expected to do because that's just what I do normally with every other. I love the region and the main story and the fact they tie up what is going on with Team Magma afterwards.Reading this you'd think I would pick 5 out of 5 wouldn't you? Well I have a couple of small issues: SPOILER ALERT1.The game has given the easy method of training, Super-training, Aimee & the EXP share which shares with the whole non-fainted party! ridiculous, I personally didn't use any of it.2. What's up with Getting a legendary so easy and so early in comparison to normal games. Latios used to be a real pain to catch as it used to roam around but now. "Oh look at that Latios wants to join you" RI-DIC-U-LOUSFinally non game related3. 2nd time in a row that Amazon have failed to get something to me on time. I have made my complaints and I have said what I needed to say to them and the item I ordered in-between came early so it has started evening out. I was just stating this to say watch out the delivery system isn't as awesome as once was.Sorry for the rants but they only knocked 1 star off what would've been a full 5/5

As someone who played the original Ruby I can safely say this game is amazing. The plot is pretty well done, battles look great and Gyms don't feel like a stomp but I still found them pretty easy.If you're looking for Legendaries you can get pretty much all of them besides X/Y and a few are exclusive eg: Reshiram but no Zekrom.Once you beat the Elite Four though the post-game plot is actually amazing. I loved it.My only issue with it is probably that it's a LOT more casual now. A pokémon game more casual, yes. It was possible.I think it was introduced in X/Y but EV Training can now be done VERY specifically in "Super Training" and even reset EVs completely. Shiny Pokémon are also a LOT more common,I think the chance was doubled or something with chaining and Matsuda method yielding MUCH better results. Plus for capturing every Pokémon you get an item called "Shiny Charm" which doubles your chances again. If you don't believe me you will definitely notice a ton of Shiny Pokémon online or being used by your friends, one of mine had a team of 4/6 Shiny Pokémon.I'm not sure about X/Y since I skipped it but this may all be old news.So yeah, great game I recommend it, Shiny Pokémon aren't as impressive now and a lot of Pokémon will be EV trained online if you're into that.As for Mega Evolution it adds a unique experience to battles like deciding who will Mega evolve, what weaknesses it'll have, the ability it'll have etc.MLG STRATS and stuff.

The actual game play is spot on, the 3D enhancements to a region that was rich in detail back in 2003 is wonderful. I would say Gamefreak even stepped it up from the 3D world that is witnessed in X and Y. Nintendo have demonstrated that a video game can successfully be released with no bugs or glitches (that I am aware of) in time for the Christmas boom - something Ubisoft needs to learn.I don't want to bore you all with details on the plot line; in Pokemon it's fairly straightforward, especially if you played the original games 10(+) years ago, but I have enjoyed every moment of it so far.Except for the dialogue. So far I have read my counterpart, May, refer to her and her pokemon using the phrase 'me and my pokemon are...'too many times (for those of you that do not understand the mistake, it should be 'my pokemon and I are...'). Did it not jump out to the English script writers/translators as being incorrect? It's baby talk - something that should not be encouraged when, more often than not, English speakers are on a regular basis making simple grammatical mistakes. I really can't understand how such poor English got into a video game. That is the only reason I did not give this fantastic game five stars. Say what you will, but I think grammar has more rating influence than to only give this game a 1 star rating solely on the fact it didn't arrive on time.

I am a pokemon fanatic, been this way since 1998. The original Ruby and Sapphire were my favourite games so when remakes were announced I was screaming all over twitter as I had been asking for Hoenn remakes with my friends (YouTube community). Now, although I have some bias toward them, these games do not disappoint. I have an american 3ds so I have been playing this game for a week already and I can tell you it is amazing, better than X and Y even. The music is nostalgic AND AMAZING with more variety that purely trumpets! The game play is smoother than X and Y and the introduction of new megas and the Primal evolution just adds so much more story to the game. The after game is great and fairly long,so in the end you have a 48-60 hour game (if you do all the side quests and actually take the game slowly like I do). The wifi battling is awesome, with the new megas adding to the complexities of to the already tough battles. The amount of legendaries in this game is ridiculous and it is amazing, the hype of collecting the Regi's and all the other trios via mirage spots.Overall:Pros:Amazing MusicSmoother Game playGreat new introductions (Megas, Primals and new items)Post-GameNegatives:No customization for characters (but then again Brendan and May are awesome characters)

Great gameThe story is good but I don't know what I did wrong but I never found or was given a master ball and I think I somehow managed to fight a gym before I was meant to. I don't know why but may took me to a city and started talking about how I should go and challenge the gym but she was talking about a gym I had already beat. And You can't change the look of your trainer anymore. I didn't mind that but some people really enjoyed that feature. And the game isn't actual 3d only the battles and cutscenes use the 3ds's 3d feature, everything else is 2d. That doesn't really bother me either because I don't use the 3d feature anyway but some people do.But there are some good feature like the ability to fly to routes not just cities and I like how pikachu actualy say his name like in the tv series instead of just a noise. The story in my opinion is better then the story in x and y and The music is great. Overall I would give it 4 stars.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire are excellent updates of the GBA originals - I have Ruby and my wife has Sapphire. The graphics have been given a beautiful 3D overhaul in line with Pokemons X and Y, but the gameplay remains faithful to the original apart form some handy new features.Younger players will find a world full of beautiful pokemon and great chatacters. A word of warning for those who played the originals and are looking to replay - cast your mind back to all those water sections of the original games. It may have been novel at the time but I found it more of a chore this time around. If you have not played Pokemon in years, I would suggest you pick up Pokemon X or Y first as they are better games. We need to remember that Ruby and Sapphire are 12-year old games and many of the gameplay options are showing their game.Certainly worth a purchase for fans of the series.

It is a shame to see that people are rating this game one or two stars based on the delivery when these are meant to be reviews of the actual game. I have bought most pokemon games that have been brought out, and this is up there with the best. It is nice to have a lot of the original series of pokemon as some of these are my favourites, and it is good to have the choice between ruby and sapphire. There are now so many mega evolutions which is a great edition to the game, and even though it is a remake it feels like it is a new game. There are also lots of new features such as dexnav which makes the game more enjoyable. It is easy to get to grips with so it doesn't matter how experienced you are as a gamer.Whether you have played a pokemon game before or not, i would definitely recommend this or alpha sapphire to anyone of any age, your never too old to play this.

I have been waiting for this game since August and I can honestly say that it was well worth the wait. The game is most definately the best game out of all the pokemon games. The story is just normal like the rest of them, yet it beats X and y with ease (since X and Y were flawed). It may come across as a little easy to conplete the main story however, you can make it harder for yourself without the use of legendaries and try to catch 'em all.The main factor for the five stars is the fact that there are lots of legendaries up for grabs! A total of 17 I believe including at least one of the two legendaries from each game. So this makes it more challenging and difficult to complete. The only problem was the amazon delivery since was delivered 5 days late. But other than that, a masterpiece!

A childhood classic reincarnated for the 3DS/2DS. Follows the same story line as the GBA version, so relatively easy to follow/play if you've had it before. Surprisingly, I found myself glued to it for a good few days playing it whenever I had an opportunity to. The graphics are superb and it is impressive. What makes this a 5 star game is that the story line has been altered enough to make it an enjoyable experience and so it doesn't feel repetitive. Plus there are plenty of additional side-elements, including the Delta Episode at the end which is in itself a mini-story. I also enjoy sneaking up on random pokemon that may have rare moves, like my Poison Fang and Thunder Fang Poochyenas. For me,it was like going through my childhood again and reliving some wonderful gaming memories.

I would nearly go as far as saying this game is perfect. Everything has been executed perfectly, from the story to the gameplay. They also avoided the trap of literally remaking the old game here, as there has been so many changes and improvements that I found myself immersed completely in a new world and forgot about the old Ruby and Sapphire games, which is quite a feat when I spent so many hours on those two back in the day. The new pokenav system makes it much easier to catch the Pokémon you want, as well as finding rarer and stronger types without banal grinding. Graphics are great, too, and the animations are fluid and don't take too long during battles.Overall, the best Pokémon game yet in my view, although I haven't played Pokémon X/Y or the new Sun/Moon games yet.

First, a note on postage: I had a bit of a problem getting the game on time, even though I preordered it. However, Amazon were very good about resending, and it arrived very quickly indeed! As for the game itself, well. If you're familiar with the Pokemon series, you'll know what you're letting yourself in for!! In comparison to other games, I would say this one is probably aimed at a slightly younger audience, as it definitely holds your hand throughout the main storyline. I have heard others say that the best part of the game comes AFTER you finish the story, but for me personally, I wouldn't say that is really the case!Essentially yet another lovely game, with hours of playing potential! How could I not recommend this to all Pokefans out there?

Great game - I love Pokémon as a game series. Spent at most 700+ hours into Pokémon Y, and have trained Pokémon for this game ready, such as Rayquaza (Over powered) I pre-ordered this, and well - it's a great game. I'm glad they're making remakes of old games but what about when they've remade all games?I don't see them with any ideas. There's the one person always shouting about all regions connected. (Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova and Kalos.) Which - is a bad idea. Plus, it wouldn't fit on a small little cartridge including all save game data. Even the game creator thinks it's a bad idea. Glad he agrees.Anyway, I love the game. Hope to finish it soon and well.Finish the Pokédex.I'd suggest this if you have kids who want the game.10/10.
