Firstly, I have to admit I was a major skeptic of 'The Sims 3' - having owned nearly all 'The Sims 2' games I was very reluctant to buy the new game as clearly EA would be bringing out expansion packs for the new game which would involve more parting with money. So I continued on with 'The Sims 2' and only bought '3' because my windows 8 laptop refused to re-install '2'.Anyway, my skepticism seemed confirmed at the first hurdle - installation: I don't really like the concept of Origin - the new platform on which you launch/play the sims. Yes, you may not need the disk after installation but the fact that it requires an internet connection is not great really.I know most people have internet now but it just so happened that when I tried to install the game my internet was down that day... To be fair it is better than the launcher thing that came with 'Apartment Life' (caused no end of problems for me) but I do think Origin is just another way for EA to get more money out of you - every time I log in it defaults to their online store... However, this is only a small irritation.Anyway, the game itself is really, really good. It is different to '2' so don't expect it to be the same however. I love the no loading screens and the ability to walk down the street, it's a major step forward from '2'. Also the whole gameplay concept is different - less focus on their needs and more focus on doing cool stuff. I think this makes for much more enjoyable game-time. Also, the create a style feature is amazing, seriously. There might not be loads of items in build/buy mode compared to 2, but the fact you can literally customize anything and everything to whatever colour/material you want means no two houses will be the same.People seem to criticize the amount of rabbit holes in the game but to be honest what would be added to the game if you could see your sim watching a theatre production or going to the spa? There are loads of community lots that aren't rabbit holes and the fact that certain things are rabbit holes (I find) prevents lagging or the game running slowly/sticky.However, I don't like the story progression feature - after playing one household I returned to the map/neighbourhood view to find other sims had aged dramatically - a toddler was now a young adult - whilst my current sim had aged only a little... Also some sims had disappeared and others had randomly moved house, even into houses with other families which I found very odd and annoying (and they also lost all their money so I couldn't even move them back!) So I have this feature turned off and find game-play much better.I would advise you to buy this version of '3' - I believe there is another version on Amazon but as this is the latest one I think this game has had any glitches discovered in the first version resolved. Moreover, after reading reviews on other expansion packs some stuff that is an add-on in the expansion pack has already been integrated into this base game - for instance, a review for 'Seasons' mentions sims can now swim in the sea and lakes, but they can already do it in this base game version...So yeah, it's an excellent game and I am very glad I bought it, but don't expect it to be like 'The Sims 2', there are similarities but it is a completely different game in its own right. Also, the base game is fine on its own although I'm sure the expansion packs will add much to the game.

There was once a woman named Fiona, she was a very talented author. She had a husband, Sam, who was struggling through the ranks of a Business career, and a daughter, Callie who was an honor-roll student who loved painting & playing the guitar. They lived together happily until Fiona's evil twin Keira moved in & shook things up a bit. Stealing from the neighbour's properties & quickly moving through the ranks of the Criminal underworld, Keira was making a name for herself, she quickly racked up many enemies across the town. When Fiona & Sam had two babies, Ben & Layla, Keira began stealing candy from them, before she got fat & had to work out for 8 hours straight on the treadmill to get promoted.Eventually Keira got her lifetime wish of becoming the head of the Evil Branch of the criminal world so she could stop working out and concentrate on her true love of stargazing. She discovered 1 star & 4 moons before tea-time...I have The Sims 3 on PC & bought it for Xbox yesterday, as you can see from the above biography, I have been very impressed with it & have played it a fair bit! As a bit of an achievement hunter who has loved The Sims ever since the first one, it was definitely one for me & I can honestly say it's great. The graphics are good, there are many more actions available than on PC, including the introduction of Karma Points which you acquire for fulfilling wishes & can spend like the Lifetime Reward points. I was initially worried about how well it would transfer over to Xbox with the differing controls .etc but it seems to have worked very well, the controls however take a little time to get used to if you're used to playing on a PC!The customisation tool allows you to customise anything & everything from duvet covers to dining tables to baths to wallpapers & carpets, really allowing you to release your inner Interior Designer. Each adult Sim has 5 traits ranging from 'Good' to 'Kleptomaniac' to 'Handy' & more which makes for interesting play as most traits have unique actions available.I think my personal favourite feature of the Xbox version is that, if you are an achievement hunter like me, it gives you things to work towards & does not become boring over time as it sometimes can on PC.The possibilties with this game really are endless! If simulation-type games are your thing, this is the game for you, I guarantee hours of fun!

I'm glad the story mode had gone because now the game is truly open-ended and (providing you have the money) you can go where you want and do what you want. Forever. Now that's freedom. The major trouble I've had is not knowing how to do certain things. I had to fork out over a tenner for the Guide book in order to find out that I have to go to Buy/Build mode in order to plant seeds in my inventory, but still am unable to find the social transaction that will make my wife and child move in with me. I had assumed getting married would join us as one household but am now finding that I have to ask for permission to spend the night with my wife in her house. I am flitting back and forth between two households, trying to maintain my garden and trying to teach my toddler to walk and talk, and am unable to focus on my career. It is fitting as social commentry but makes for a frustrating playing experience. When you are dating someone you are not able to ask for their age, so it is possible to marry a young woman only for her to age up the next day and be unable to bear children!I've successfully raised children in the game and the parents finally gave up the ghost and died, but trying to create another generation is proving a challenge. Since my wife and child do not live with me I am unable to control them and when my current Sim dies does that mean my game has finished because I've got no other Sims to control? I might have to adopt just to ensure the family survives. The range of careers and places to go is quite varied and learning skills is truly satisfying. The graphics have surprised me on occasion. I am amazed by the clarity of the reflection in the mirror and put lots around my home just to gaze at the beauty of it. It's great to see clearly the computer games the Sims play but the range of songs on the stereo is disappointing compared to the catchy tunes of previous Sims games.I very rarely use the Karma powers and have no real need for them. Similarly I have not wanted to experience the online aspect of the game. If only things were explained a bit more in the game it would be a less frustrating experience. As it is, I am enjoying the game enough to persevere with it and am learning new things all the time.

Where to start? Sims 3 on Xbox 360 is the best game that I have ever owned. You can admittedly get addicted as there are an endless amount of things to do each time you enter the game. The controls are easy to use, the Sims are increasingly realistic and characteristic: Create tons of different Sims, each with their own looks and unique personalities. These traits include:Absent Minded, Adventurous, Ambitious, Angler, Artistic, Athletic, Bookworm, Born Salesman, Brave, Can't Stand Art, Charismatic, Childish, Clumsy, Commitment Issues, Computer Whiz, Couch Potato, Coward, Daredevil, Dislikes Children, Easily Impressed, Evil, Excitable, Family Oriented, Flirty, Friendly, Frugal, Genius, Good,Good Sense of Humor, Great Kisser, Green Thumb, Grumpy, Handy, Hates the Outdoors, Heavy Sleeper, Hopeless Romantic, Hot Headed, Hydrophobic, Inappropriate, Insane, Kleptomaniac, Light Sleeper, Loner, Loser, Loves the Outdoors, Lucky, Mean Spirited, Mooch, Natural Cook, Neat, Neurotic, Never Nude, No Sense of Humor, Over Emotional, Party Animal, Perfectionist, Schmoozer, Slob, Snob, Technophobe, Unflirty, Unlucky, Vegetarian, Virtuoso and Workaholic.(about 50-60: hundreds of combinations). Each one of these traits come with a full explanation and can effect so many aspects of the Sims life in conversation, in their children (if you chose to have any)their best job potential, and with their partners and friends and how well they get along together.Create and personalize every single detail to your Sims looks, lifetime wishes, careers, and home, right down to the garden gnomes. You can control every aspect of their lives, and you can even control how much power you have over your Sim (from puppet to high free will). There are endless possibilities so you can never get bored, you just can't; you can also have different files so if you feel like doing something that would completely trash your first file, you can!Thank you for reading, Sims 3 is the BEST!

I think I'm on my third generation of sims in this game now. It's been fun. Sure this is never going to match the modular expansiveness of the pc version but for the convenience of us console users this is still very enjoyable. The graphics are good and the challenge and wish system add purpose to the play. I think you can really take it as seriously as you want. You can try for the big challenges or life wishes or just play for the short term fun of running a family from day to day. There never seems to be enough hours in the sim's days to get everything done. I often wonder where my own evening went after playing this game. I do have some minor niggles to report though: The largest niggle is when splitting your sims up.The ones left behind at home just don't do what they are told even though there are options to direct them. Put them to bed for much needed recharge or set them to finish a book or task and as soon as you leave the home zone they just drop their current orders. And babies seem to get dumped on the grass outside the house. It's not a massive problem but it would be nice if it was fixed. The limit seems to be 6 sims and I think you have to keep them in the same household. Also it would have been nice if there were more multiplay options, perhaps a co-op mode or spectate mode. Part of the game is showing off what you have, and unfortunately apart from the option to upload copies of your sims or custom designed clothes and stuff, I'm having to make do with boasting on the phone or facebook. Maybe next time. I hear there is going to be a new standalone Sims 3 game out for xbox in October 2011 (might change) called The Sims 3 Pets. PC owners already have it as an add-on. So unless you can get this version dirt cheap you might be better waiting for that.Overall, this game is good fun and a refreshing change from all the shooty games on xbox360. I love those games too but variety is the spice of life.

I asked for Sims 3 earlier in the week to entertain me while I'm off sick from work. I've grown up with Sims, from PC, Playstation, DS, and now Wii, I've seen it in it's many guises...After reading the previous reviews, I was a little concerned my money would be wasted, but thankfully it was not!The Create-A-Sim feature is now as sophisticated as the PC version! Your little friends no longer look all jagged and pixel-ey! Admittedly, we're lacking HD qualitiy, but I hold my hands up, that's not something I really care about!Once you get in there (and sorry to all the previous reviewers!), I didn't find the controls particularly difficult at all! And I've given up on Wii games for this reason in the past (damn you,Tomb Raider Anniversaries!!!!!). The controls actually felt quite intuitive... So, if you've had experience of using the nunchuck and remote together for platform games on the Wii, this game won't cause you too many problems!I also want to point out for all you PC Sim-ers, that - sadly - you can no longer build your house from scratch! You have to earn extensions and upgrades... But don't worry, all that's set about the structure is the external walls... You can do whatever you like building-wise on the inside! EA have said doing this has allowed them to include more elaborate structures, like round roofs, and beams, but I can only quote them on that...Finally, one last big change is the way you can interact with your Sim at work. You can now pick what chores they do in their working day... You can make yourself into the bosses lap-dog or the office clown! This is a definite step up from being forced to watch the fast-forwarding world go by while you wait, as per the previous games! So, in conclusion, I really love this little game... It's great that EA have finally recognised that we don't all have super-computers that can comfortably run Sims 3! I'd recommend it to anyone!

This game is absolutely fantastic. In the Sims 3 you can create unique personalities, fulfill their desires, and control their lives within a living neighborhood. As a die hard Sims fan (with huge gaps in between sessions though) I decided to skip number 2 & go straight to number 3. Honestly, at first, it was all a bit too different to what I was used to & I wasn't really enjoying it. After 2 days I suddenly became a decrepit old woman & discovered you have to adjust the settings regarding how long your Sim spends at a certain life stage, so deleted that game & started again. After 3 days I nearly gave up playing it (especially when the Firewoman came to put out a kitchen fire & then just sort of got stuck in my kitchen & stayed there for around 1 "sim" week!) until I deleted that game & started yet again.I also very quickly got fed up with the little thing popping up asking me to share each & every single little achievement (Congratulations, your Sim just wiped her own bum!) on Facebook/Twitter/everything, until I realised I could play offline & not be stalked by Social networking offers! (I know some feel the need, but I prefer to have a life! [Albeit a Sim one, ha ha!]) So, by day 3 I very nearly threw in the towel. Anyway, figured I'd stick with it a little longer & once you get used to the changes, it isn't half bad. I've not played it fully, in as much as collecting fish/rocks etc (not sure how as havn't explored that aspect, but I may do in the future) but have played it in the old fashioned Sim way of getting a job, earning promotions & saving up enough money to build the house of my dreams & a top of the range sports car on the drive, not to mention gardens to rival anything Monty Don could dream up! So, it's not as bad as it first seemed & with a bit of patience is just as fun as all the other Sim games.

I have been a fan of the sims series since castaway stories was released and then bought every game since, I have the sims 3 on pc and its amazing but a little costly when adding all the expansion/stuff packs, however i also bought this version and my.. its a clone of the sims 3 for pc, create a sim is exactly the same (and even ads a few hairstyles and pieces of clothing from World Adventures/Ambitions) and the items in game are also the same, the gameplay is..... the same however you get new karma powers which are great fun to use and you earn them by completing wishes, your sims age, go to school, die, can be ressurected as ghosts, have babies e.t.c like the pc version and its really good, the controls are a bit annoying at start and will never be as simple or as easy as the pc version however after about 30 minutes you will find your way around everything, my only gripe is if you are not using a HDMI cable the graphics can look a little fuzzy and are definatley not the best graphics on the xbox 360 and unlike the pc version there is no free roam town, loading times are back, this is not a problem though if you install the game to your hard drive as the loading times shorten down from a few minutes to a few seconds. People who cannot get the PC version because theyre pc cant play it will be extremely pleased, its almost a clone and really a full sims experience, you also get the exchange like the PC version and can connect through facebook or twitter and share your progress.

I bought The Sims 3 for Xbox 360 after my laptop got a virus and became unable to run the PC version of the game. Considering how the console version of the Sims 2 had so many features taken out of it compared to the computer game (visiting community lots, having different life stages, building two or three floor houses) I didn't have particularly high hopes for this game. But, I thought, a watered-down version of The Sims 3 is better than no Sims at all!I was really surprised when I started playing it. Aside from the fact that the controls were difficult to get used to at first, there really wasn't much difference between the Xbox 360 version of the game and the PC version. The only things I really miss are expansion packs and the ability to have mods and custom content in my game, but if I were to compare it to the basic, vanilla (no CC) base game of The Sims 3, this is pretty much flawless. The only thing I noticed that's at all different is that the open neighbourhood isn't completely 'open' as it is in the PC game, and instead has different 'areas' you can travel to which means loading screens, however this didn't really bother me at all. Plus, there's also the added bonus of karma powers in the console game.I would definitely recommend buying this game to anyone who can't play the PC version for whatever reason, as it is an excellent substitute. :)

I am a big Sims fan and was very excited to learn that it was coming to Xbox360 as my pc is to old to play it. I thoroughly enjoyed creating my character to then find a job (in music!) get married and have kids. The graphics are great and yes you do have to wait a little while for the locations to load but it really doesn't bother me. The karma is a really cool and fun way to make your Sims life more exciting. For example giving them extra money or creating earthquakes. The only problem I had was whenever I was in the middle of teaching my toddler to talk and the characters froze until all their bars went red. I sorted it out by travelling into the town then coming back to the house and the characters were fine, though desperately needing food etc...Pros: Good colourful graphics, interesting karma's and challenges, great decors and house products. Women have real pregnancies, go to the hospital to give birth and get maternity payments which make the game extra fun. The facial features are really in-depth, every little detail is down to you!Cons: Loading time from location to location is quite slow and sometimes it may freeze so make sure you keep saving it frequently. The Sims 3 is definitley addictive, I shamefully was on it six hours in a night. I highly recommend it for anyone and any age. Absolutley brilliant!

I was 50/50 on whether or not to get the Xbox 360 version or the PC version again, it was a good thing that I had experience with the PC and console versions before as I had The Sims and The Sims 2 on PC, I also had the The Sims 2 on the PS2. I thought back to how many hours I put into the Sims 2 game on the PS2 and how many hours I put into building my home on the PC version; it was LOTS. That helped me make a decision and I realized just how much of a big console gamer I am and not a PC gamer.I have had this game for roughly a month and it's the only game I have played this month so as you can see it definitely is addictive! The customization of your Sims, household items and walls/floors,ect is fantastic, along with the Karma powers. Now the only downfalls in my opinion is that the map is a little small (although there is quite a lot to do) and personally I would of liked if there was a button to take you out of the free roam camera and made it go into a 1st/3rd person view and for you to be able to walk about by using the analog controls, press A for action, and etc like they had on the PS2 version of The Sims 2.Overall I will continue to enjoy The Sims 3 on my Xbox 360.4/5.

I ordered this on a Monday afternoon, was told to expect delivery on the Friday. However it arrived on the Wednesday which was great. Installed with no problems on my laptop (Windows 7), and as a fan of the previous Sims games I knew I would love this one, too. The game play is great, especially being able to go from your house straight to someone else's house or to another location. However on my second evening playing the game, my screen all of a sudden went blank and then the game closed completely, taking me back to my Windows desktop screen. When I went back in to the game, all the gameplay I ahd done that evening (around 2 hours) had been lost. This is probably partly my own fault for not saving my game regularly, however I did not expect it to throw me out of the game without warning! I am not sure if it was a glitch of the game or perhaps my laptop overheated? Either way I will have to remember to save regularly in the future, and would recommend others doing the same!Overall it's a great game, so addictive, and currently at the bargain price of £11.99 (as the new Sim 4 is released later this year).

The Sims has tried multiple times to create a decent port to console, and on the most part let's just say they learnt from their mistakes, and learn they did as Sims 3 for the Xbox 360 is bar none the best console attempt in the Sims franchise. The control system in place is far more intuitive than the earlier titles and far more a kin to the PC version but tweaked to work seamlessly with the Xbox. The graphics for the game aren't to the height of some of the more hardcore titles but they're as good as they need to be with a very pleasant cartoon-esque style. Game play wise there is all the meta-living addictive game play we have come to expect from the series except this time with an added karma system,in which the player collects karma points for completing certain challenges which they can then spend on "karma powers" ranging from useful, fill all of a Sims moods to not particularly helpful, Make over your sim. However keep in mind this game is still a port, so unless you are achievement crazy or don't have a top end PC, get the PC version instead.

This game is absolutely amazing! I've installed it on Windows 7, thus far have had no major problems with it. The game in itself is addictive, if only the characters are difficult to manage when you find them a job, they work so long and their hunger, hygiene and bladder levels are a bit hard to keep on top of... otherwise, a fantastic game! You can make people 'housemates' and they're not actually family, design your own house, and much much much much much more!!!I have only three issues with this game. First, it is fairly slow in loading, even with my 4GB RAM harddrive. Second, it drains laptop battery life like nobody's business, so if you have a desktop computer that the game is compatible with, install it on there instead; and its not the type of game to load if you have just five or ten minutes before you have to go somewhere. And finally, they want me to update the game every five seconds. But otherwise, there are no problems with it whatsoever! If you're at all interested in this game, then buy it! You won't regret it! 5*
