Ok I wrote a really long review for sims 2 pets also for the ps2, so if you want a general review, this isn't the review for you. Instead I'll discuss the differences between this and sims 2 pets, as these two games are the newest you can get for the ps2 and both cost about the same give or take.So you might think the only difference between the sims 2 and sims 2 pets is that in pets you can have pets, but this isn't the case. The most obvious difference is that in pets there is no story mode. This is kinda annoying, but tbh I mostly just play free play. So as for the story for sims 2, I haven't played all the way through it, but have had a good look at it. Personally I prefer it over the story mode of the first game. You still have goals, though in this game they are golden and platinum aspirations. I really like the cenery in this story mode, and that is an improvement in general for both sims 2 games, but also the apirations seem easier than the goals in the first sims, though I think that's just me tbh.I also like that in this game I'm pretty sure you get more objects than in the sims 2 pets, including some really cool and useful ones, though still no swimming pools. Though obviously in sims 2 pets you get objects the sims 2 doesn't have in the form of pet objects, and although I can't be certain I think even including these the sims 2 might have slightly more. However I am visually impared and on tis the sims 2 pets is definitely better. I find the action text a good bit harder to read in the sims 2 over pets, and in pets you can select o have text appear next to the icons such as hunger, comfort etc making the symbols easier to read too.In the sims 2 pets too in free play mode when selecting which house to enter, demolish etc you get to do so by hovering over icons on a map, whereas in sims 2 you still select from a list. The create a sims mode is a bit different too. In the sims 2 it has the portraits of your grandparents and parents and you can randomise these, whereas in pets there is no such feature, but you can still randomise your sim.I think those are the main differences. I read somewhere in pets you have days of the week and subsequently days off work. Due to my visual imparement I can't comfirm this, but it does appear to be the case. There's other minor differences such as the appearance of the pause menu, the appearance of certain items etc, but I think I've covered the main ones.So which should you get? Well I'd say if you're visually impared but can see enough to play most games like me, or vision is a factor at all definitely sims 2 pets. If not though it really depends on what you want more. The sims 2 has a story mode and more objects in short, where as the sims 2 pets has pets and the odd feature here and there such as days of the week. But honestly second hand these games aren't expensive, so if you're still not sure it wouldn't cost much to buy both and see which you prefer.

I have never acessed the computer to play the sims as my mum loves it and deserves to play on it :) but after watching every now and then i had a crave to go simming . I purhcased this game wen i was 13 i am now 17 so you can imagine i have had it a while i played this 2 player with my younger sister who was 11 at the time and we had hours and hours of fun . We had not played with barbies and dolls for years and needed some roleplaying input and this was perfect we built army camps , hotels , college dorms , restauraunt's, beauty spa's and general houses and had the outfits to go with it we roleplayed for hours , moving around using the analogue stick is so easy so you could concentrate more on how the roleplaying story was going to go.I spent most my evenings on the sims and loved it to bits. I now own a 80GB ps3 and unfortunately can not play ps2 games on it so it is no longer in my posession but for any children who have just finished with dolls and are now looking for something more up to date or simply a teenager who wants to play the sims without bugging you on the pc it is perfect , guaranteed if they have the imagination the sims will do the rest for them .Dress posh , funky , smart , or scruffy . Run , walk , excercise , surf , play darts! theres a list of endless things to do its the best sims game out of the pc world. I would highly reccomend this game :)I have never wrote a review so apologies as this is everywere but surely you can get out the message i am portraying. Thanks and Enjoy it!

Why... Lets start with the positives of the sims 2... The graphics were great for a ps2 game, allowing players to experience the world through the eyes of the sims in the company's classic artwork style. The ability to switch between two different playing modes was also fun because it allowed you to play the game with a different feel, and the free play mode was a bit of fun too... Now the negatives.... 1) the music... This game features constant and annoying songs that play on a cycle, it is annoying and distracting, I end up playin with the game on mute! 2) simlish, a novelty for those sick of their own language, a repetitive annoyance for those who aren't,from jokes to general conversation simlish will have you again playing this game on mute... 3) repetitiveness... Ok this game has a fair few options but once you're done, you're done, very often I found myself on free play, trapping and killing sims in little rooms just out of pure boredom...So to round up... A great game if this is the kind of game you like, it's innovative features and gameplay definitely make it the next step in the series.... However I game to get away from the stresses of life and having some Whiney, childish cartoon, moaning at me in a made up language really doesn't "float my boat". But if you're into the series, it's still a must have in the playstation collection :)

i got this game the day it came out and before i had read a review about that you cant age or have kids which put me off the game alot and i wasnt going to buy it. But i still got it and couldnt wait to play it. At first i found it quite hard to play the game and theres not alot of choice of clothes to wear but i wasnt bothered buy that but i no other gamers will. when i started playing the game i loved it. The way it feels is good when you play it.You can choose to move gta style or classic style which is good when you want a rest from the game and just want them to fill there needs. The choice of what you can do with the characters are great you have a wide range of what to do and say which i was happy about. And sometimes you think you've done alot of missions and you've only done a small percentage of the game which shows it's a long game.so i reccomend this game to anyone and anyone who's been put off buy that you cant age or have kids to get it because alot of new and good things about the game cover it.

Where are the children, the pools, the towns, the townies, the furniture, the different versions of the furniture, the ADVANCED way of making houses, the true sims experience... maybe not. I did enjoy this game but i think my list of things missed out has made my point. I think when they named it the sims 2, people thought the 2 would make it a lot better. Well..er.. no. Now you think, "Hey why has that guy given it 5 stars if he has slagged it off". well the good features are: Advanced when talking etc, making food creativily, play as a ghost when sim has deceased, you know what i'm talking about know? My choice is a neautral one.I think thta the towns and stuff that i said have been missed out could have been made up for if there was children in the game.THE BIGGEST LOSS IS NO AGE LIMIATION, FORGET THE BABY;CHILD;TEEN;ADULT;ELDER CIRCUIT THERE IS NOTHING LIKE THAT.I am warning you of this becuase the reviews i read stated nothing of this, so i am saving you getting dissapointed. Because i am nice. :)

I was prepared for the worst when I put in the Sims 2 disc into my PS2. I bought the Nintendo DS version of the game and was disappointed that it was unlike the orignial version on the computer. However, the Sims 2 on PS2 has the option of Free Play and I found that although it was not as satisfying as playing it on the computer, it does the job. Like the PC/Mac version; you can build sims, a house, relationships etc. (though doing these things proves to be much more tedious than on the computer) Also- it is alot more difficult building your ideal sim. Because I am used to the PC/Mac version, I find this game less fun than somebody who has never played the game would- but unlike the computerversion there is no waiting for it to download (+ the computer version uses up hoards of memory on your PC/Mac).

When i first bought this game i was really excited by the fact that you can grow older not realising that you cant have kids or grow older which was really dissapionting. The game is very good once you get the hang of it because you can unlock loads of different places including some underwater,on the edge of a mountain etc... A disapiontment with the game is that you can only purchase a certain amount of items otherwise you get a fire in your house every 5 mins. I also thought it was good because you can make your own recipes and grow your own food. Overall i thought it was a good game although there could be some improvements

The Sims 2 (PS2) is fun to play and has many styles of clothing and accesories to choose from. the 'Story Mode' - as all Sims PS2 games have them - keeps you occupied for a couple of hours (maybe days) so you can unlock all the locked items avalible. The graphics are excellent and the objects are out-of-this-world.However, it differs amazingly to any other Sims game. THERE ARE NO SWIMMING POOLS, THERE ARE NO 2nd STORIES AND THE TIME IT TAKES TO LOAD IS ASTONISHING. Whether you want to change location, change your clothes or save your game, it takes oodles of your time by loading.

Hi, this is a great game and I would thoroughly recommend that you buy this for the following reasons.1. The graphics are really good.2. You can make your own recipes.3. The places you can unlock are fab.4. It is really easy to use.5. It has a clear layout. The only bad point (well it's not really a bad point just me being lazy!) it can be difficult to unlock new locations. Otherwise this is a fantastic game and as I said before I definitely recommend this game for all of you reading. See ya!!

this game is amazing and is a greay deal better than the old one but it's a bit annoying. the social skills are quite good but not brilliant. The annoyinist thing is when your part way through a romantic life with a sim there comes the day when they have to break up and if they have love asparations the meter goes a great deal down.BUT APART FROM THAT THE GAME IS FAB

This is one of my favorite sims game because of nostalgiait's the first sims game I ever played :)of course it's not half as customizable as the pc version but I like the way you can control the sim 3rd person instead of floating above them.

18.2.2016

I love it! I had Sims 2 on my DS several years ago but I couldn't get into it. I always preferred the PS2 versions and the game is great, runs smoothly and lots to do! If only life was as simple as the Sims...

Good basic, bog standard Sims game. Better than Sims pets, which is appauling. Sims 3 is the tops though. But this game is pretty good. Can get stale though.
