After previously playing Wild World and Lets go to the City, I bought New Leaf this year and have grown obsessed! It's just such a cosy and relaxing game. Everything is happy and playing really cheers me up when feeling down. It's nice to just escape from real life for a while in my little Animal Crossing bubble. There are so many things to go in this game and you could play for years and never run out of things to do or collect. You'll start off life as the mayor of your New Leaf village, with a few animal villagers which you will become friends with, chat to, carry out tasks for (if you wish). Over time, you will soon have up to 10 villagers move in. When you first start you will gather tools which will allow you to fish, catch bugs, hit rocks containing hidden gems, bugs or bells (the currency in AC). The more you buy from your shop, the bigger it will expand until you have a three-storey model, housing a designer boutique on the top floor. You can also purchase clothing, and even design your own. Talk to Sable (the hedgehog behind the sewing machine who always seems too busy to talk) for 10 days and you'll unlock a sewing machine which doubles as a QR machine, allowing you to download the many clothing patterns on the internet, or even design your own.You will build on your town, planting trees and flowers and building Public Works Projects to make your town beautiful. For each day your town is perfect, you will receive a rare flower near your cliff edge. The more you play, the more you'll unlock. Expand your catalogue and build a museum of fossils, bugs, fish and paintings that you'll collect over time. Not forgetting upgrading your home and designing it with the furniture you'll also buy and collect. If that's not enough, there's also mini-games you can play within the game; find a Wii U and a DS in a fortune cookie in Nooks shop to play Desert Island Escape and Puzzle League. There's also an Island you can visit alone, or with friends and you can play mini-games there too. There are over 80 special events that happen throughout the year too, such as the fishing tourney, Bug Off, Mother's Day, Autumn Moon, Halloween and Toy Day to name just a few. On these days you can collect special items which are not available the rest of the year.If you're looking for a nice relaxing game, this is definitely the one for you. Ideal from any age. I play daily, aged 38, as does my 9 year old Daughter and 19 year old son! This game was updated in recent years to include the welcome amiibo update. You will find a lamp with a little ghost inside. Scan in an amiibo character or card (great collectibles in addition to the game) and you can invite them to move in to your village, ask them for a unique item, or ask them to visit your campground in their RV and order their special furniture items. 3DS and 2DS XL consoles have a reader installed. You just swipe on the bottom screen. But older 2DS's, you will have to buy an NFC reader if you want to use this part of the game, but again, it's optional.

The gameplay offered by this game is kind of similar to Mario 64 in respect to the 3d elements. However, unlike Mario 64 in which gameplay was much more explorative, this game follows more tradition Mario style gameplay (linear in a sense, but the 3d puts a nice twist on it). Graphically, it's colourful, it's bold, it's brilliant. Simply as. You don't have to use the 3d slider on your 3ds but it detracts from the graphics. Nintendo did get it right or this game. I thought the 3d was more subtle and not important to the gameplay, which is as it should be. Controls are a dream, and its still easy to pick up. The joystick style of controller means movement is better and flows better too,and jumping and crouching as well as throwing fireballs is still the same way as previous games. Level variety is ok, sone levels follow. Similar path to other worlds in which theres a open level, followed by an underground level and so on. worlds are also short as theres not many levels in them (but there are 16 worlds to play through). Power ups are ok, not great, but ok. The tanooki power up is really useful for slowing down in mid air or to get across a wide distance. Fireball Mario is still, fireball mario. But with the 3d you can now fire in more than 2 directions. I don't think too much of boomerang Mario, too much like fireball. If there s one thing I would have liked, it would have been more variety of power ups but it doesn't detract from the game greatly. I would recommend this game over Super Mario bros. 2 ds. I think this game is shorter but I enjoyed playing this more. It's not as simple to play but its not a hard game to get into. It saves instantly after completing a level, so it's easier to leave and then pick up and play later. Star coins collected can help to unlock other levels. It's not as good as Mario Galaxy or Mario 64, but then not everyone enjoys the explorative part of these games. In terms of the game offered here, I'd say its a good upgrade of the Mario bros series. Definitely an essential purchase for the 3ds

Not to buy this!I have been a huge Mario fan and can say this is a cross between 'Super Mario 64' and 'New Super Mario Bros.' - my two favourite Mario games. That is the best description I can give! The game has eight worlds (initially)and you go through them like in NSMB and try to save Peach. The levels are very different and I love the sequence ones. There are fun one where blocks move when Mario jumps and where things move around. It is so much fun!The graphics are great and I think this game is great for ALL AGES! It increases with difficulty, but starts off easily so it balances out. If you struggle for long enough, an invincible suit pops up to help you.You still have to play but Mario is immune to fire and other weapons thrown at him, so it helps and you don't feel as if you've cheated. After you complete the eight worlds, Luigi is kidnapped and you CAN go through the levels again...except they aren't the same...They are harder and slightly different! In the 'Special levels', a certain amount of stars are required at the boss levels to continue. This encourages you to go back and complete former levels as best as you possibly can, otherwise you have to wait to progress. I thought this was a great idea as I managed to get most of the stars and felt chuffed! All in all, an amazing game with amazing graphics and a great, yet familiar plot-line. this is for new gamers, young gamers, old gamers and Mario-addicts...Basically everyone!____THE SNAGS:You are at a disadvantage if you don;t use the 3D...I know because I've tired it with both. I am not a great lover of 3D but found it harder with 2D. This wasn't a huge problem and I am patient, but if you are impatient, use the 3D!The game is so addictive and you may neglect other things...You need more willpower to stop than to play! Please bear in mind I am a shroud person and thought this was well-worth the money and I would advise anyone to buy this. At £30.00 you are getting an extraordinary deal as you can play this over and over again. xD

I ADORE this game! I had Wild World on the DS/DSI and was really upset when my DSI began to play up. I got a 2DS XL as soon as I possibly could after the DSI stopped workly successfully and this was the first 3DS game I knew I wanted and that I bought. I have had the game for about a year now and play it every day. I adore the ability to change your hair style and colour that I couldn't get in Wild World, the ability to customize the fashion further with tights, socks and shoes, the beautiful graphics, awesome weather phenomenons such as meotor showers, wishing stars and fireworks that you can design the shape of! You are mayor and the way in which you become mayor is constantly hilarious to me.I love how you can choose your town layout in the very beginning, customize your town (being mayor) and that the animals come to you more now, being their mayor. You can get coffee at The Roost and get takeaway coffee, which I think is adorable. What I think is my favourite thing about the game that makes it different from Wild World are the little challenges. Working for Jack for halloween, working for the reindeer for Christmas, the secrets, collecting the prizes from the fortune cookies, learning the orders of everyone in the town at The Roost and working there with the knowledge you gain, visiting the island and playing the mini-games, exploring the many different dreams avaliable in the Dream suite and collecting all the expressions from Dr. Shrink in Club LOL. Couldn't recommend this game enough. So pure and makes me so happy. Right combination of cute, light and weird. Anti-depressant game right here! 100% an Animal Crossing nerd

I’m very new to the animal crossing games and I really thought it wasn’t for me I thought it would be slow and boring so I put it off many times but I kept hearing its popularity growing and people talking about animal crossing so much I thought I’ve got to see what all the fuss is about for my self and I’m so glad I do I really really enjoy the game it’s different to other games and its very relaxing to play without all this heavy action keeping pumped it normal gaming you can just pick it up and relax your way through a little town that you help create with you home and activities to do its really good it runs of the time zone that you living in I.E country (Uk USA)etc so it feels very real its not really a massive night time game though as I do a lot of my gaming at every in the game light shops etc are closed other characters are sleeping and you can’t change this as it runs off the time zone your in but that said its a really fun easy going relaxing game which can became very addictive and I really love the whole way this game works its different from my usual games and I’m very impressed I highly recommend this game for kids or adults and its a bargain game at £16.99 for the 3ds its hours and hours worth of fun which I suppose will never really end because its got no missions or chapters of the game so it not like you can complete it and then its done so the replay value is amazing too

It's a great game if you ask me, but the stages seem to lack imagination and get repetitive in their theme, the way the old NES one used to have.I know that it's quite a different thing with 3d graphics, but there really could have been more variation to them, or at least more of the original music to cover the nostalgia factor (I have not played SMW so maybe the music in this is more of that). The bosses are also too repetitive - only 3 of them if I remember correctly, though they do get challenging thanks to their arenas changing a bit. Also the hit detection feels a bit off when you try to jump on some of the enemies' heads and the 3d effect does not do much to remedy that.It would also be nice if the game had more of an overworld, like the Mario 64's one to make it seem more alive, but the backgrounds on the stage selection screens are quite good, and the music there is very positive, but is not so memorable.Anyway, the size of levels is great for a handheld, you just pop in and in a few minutes you are done with one.The 3d effect is helpful in some situations and lets you feel like you are in Mario's world and the 2 selectable viewpoints are a nice bonus. In the end it IS a Nintendo Mario game done right, so even with those little problems it is a great game well worth your money.

I got a new 3DS XL and this game is just.. its amazing, and it is the most realistic game with time travel. Let me explain Your young the world is a happy colorful place and everythings just nice but there are dangers, when you do travel through time and become an adult, everything is poop, every one is depressed, dying, miserable, ruined, destroyed. Everything just sucks and everything is trouble. But it is one of the best games of all time ported to the 3DS so you can play this portable on the move.. Buy it. The controls work nice with it, the 3D is pretty decent its like looking through a window rather than looking at a screen. If you have played the N64 version one thing that will probablyconfuse you is the layout for the ocarina it is just so weird and seems/feels backwards or ODD when hitting the notes. Sarias song etc everything is a little confusing but fortunately the two screens work so well you can have the notes on the bottom page telling you which buttons to press while you play it on the top screen. Its fantastic the graphics are a nice improvement and yeah. Everything besides a little confusion is just that bit better or the same. Which is good. 5/5 MastaPiece Baby!!

I took a chance getting this game as one of My birthday presents. (8th June 2017)I'd heard mixed reviews on it.But as a big Mario fan from years ago (Nes, Snes, Gameboy, N64 plays, etc..) I decided to give it a try.I can honestly tell you that it is a LOT of fun from the get go.Just pick up and play. The screen where the levels are displayed, is very similar (if not identical) in function and layout to the classic Super Mario Bros 3 tracks and levels of yester-decade on the Nes.Only difference being an upgrade and graphical polish.Mario is able to explore every single corner of each and every 3D level you control him in.There is always plenty to do and explore, and the games difficulty level, although not too taxing, isn't too easy either. It's a nice balance which leaves you feeling pleased after completing each level. The graphics, sound and 3D effects from the 3DS/"New" 3DS work extremely well. It's a great mix of classic Super Mario World from the Snes, blended with a more refined and polished 3D aspect from the N64's Super Mario 64.Lots of enemies, power ups, secrets to discover and much more.10 out of 10

On the evidence of this I prefer this type of game to platform or sports one.it seems to be a game format that Nintendo do well and which plays well on my son's 2DS.There's humour in the game and nice touches as you puzzle out the ways to get around the various rooms and mansions.Battling the ghosts can be at times, exhilarating, stressful or a bit irritating (when struggling to defeat them). It is really clever and the atmospheric music adds greatly to the game.I am not too enamoured of the dialogue with the professor which drags and which we rush through or skip at times.I have now played about 8 games on the 2DS and this far this is mine and my son's overall favourite. It can be frustratingwhen you are stuck on a level and the ability to save at any stage would be better.I also have to admit that at the start we had to look at an online cheat page to get going. To excuse us somewhat though my son hadn't played video games much before and I hadn't for years so we needed a little hand up.Overall, a really good, enjoyable game that should keep players amused and enthralled for along time.

well what can you say? Mario games never fail to make some one feel happy about a game they paid for.gameplay: the game like most handheld mario games has eight worlds with about 6-8 levels in all ending with either a castle to beat or an airship castles are bowser fights and ships are cooperling fights (bowsers children) but fear not when you reach the end of this exiting title you are greeted with a lovely message tell you there is the special world and other set of 8 worlds all with previous levels witch have been re designed to be harder than before, this would be from a certain amount of time to complete it or an encounter from shadow Mario.3D: Now this game really takes advantage of the 3DS capabilities.giving you the option to chose a popping out the screen 3D look or an in-depth screen look. both offer a different perspective of looking at the gamegraphics: not much to say its running 1080p at 60fps ( like most modern games.....FINALLY NINTENDO!) and has very similar mechanics to the galaxy games.overall i think this game is a top buy to all ages and is useful a great pass timer.

My all-time favourite villager Roscoe is still there, and that's all that matters!Just kidding! There's more!I played Wild World for the longest time, got the complete mansion, fully decorated the inside, perfect town, all the flowers in every colour, all the fruits and fossils. I always struggled with bugs and fish though. I grew up playing Animal Crossing and to have a modern version now is the most wonderful thing!I can't recommend this game highly enough. Expanded character customization, home exterior options, more furniture, wacky new characters and personalities, a tropical island escape AND Mr Resetti is now TOTALLY OPTIONAL!! Best believe I will never in a million years get the Reset Center.Wonderful soundtrack, familiar cutesy graphics, Roscoe, permit to decorate the town itself however you please, Roscoe, various fascinating visitors to the campground, a lovely secretary who rings little bells wherever she goes, Roscoe, custom clothes, Roscoe... what's not to love!

I spent about three hours on this game on one level in-particular, with my hands sweating, trying to reach that darn golden star! But if it makes you have that much dedication, you know it's a good game.I really loved this game, my experience with Mario plat-formers are from my childhood on Gameboy Advance - And really sucking at them, badly. This is a hell of a lot of fun and I would recommend it to anyone with a 3DS, once you have completed the first 8 (or 7?) worlds you unlock an extra 8 'special' worlds which doubles the length of the game, the only reason I rate this game a 4 overall is because I was a little disappointed by the collectables in the game (golden-star-things)which once you collect all 3 of them from every level, you unlock... Nothing. But I had a blast and thats what games are about, while this game wont be as fondly remembered as the Pokemon Yellow of my childhood I had a ton of fun playing and worth every single penny!

I got this game on its release date and its a brilliant game. Its kinda a cross between Super Mario Bros and Super Mario Galaxy. The graphics are great and the gameplay is fun, albeit some of the levels are a bit short. The first seven worlds are relatively straight forward but the difficulty level starts to ramp up at world 8. Once you complete the first eight worlds, you open the special levels which are basically the earlier levels which are made harder with some brand new levels thrown in. Collecting all the stars is quite a challenge on some of the levels as they are either in difficult positions or well hidden. You will also encounter a number of different powerups, some of which actually reduce your lives.Luigi also makes a surprise appearance. This is one of the best games on the 3DS alongside Mario Kart. If you are a fan of mario games, you will love this!!

My first Zelda was "A link to the past" and it will always hold a special place in my heart. So seeing how this takes place in the same world with its soundtrack and items based off that is wonderful. It is also great to see the world in modern graphics with 3S to boot. The wall merging adds a serious extra element to puzzle solving but not so much as to be too difficult. The new system of renting or buying items is very interesting and I do like it as if you have trouble with a certain dungeon or boss you can just go do some others to get your hearts up ect.The characters are funny and the game still has the charm of the original. Plus having a wallet that can hold 9999 rupees in from the start is great. Also quick equip is very handy too.All in all I wish I had gotten this sooner as I've been glued to it since it arrived lol

The point of the game is for Luigi to solve the mystery of the suddenly aggressive ghosts all over the area. Along the way, you have tasks to complete often involving hoovering up ghosts to put into a container at the lab so when the mystery is solved, they can go back to being big floaty goofballs. At first, I wasn't a fan as it seemed super easy and repetitive. Well it is but it became quite enjoyable and the storyline moves along and gets harder as you go. There were some super challenging points that made me think and did struggle on some levels. Perfect to 'waste time/have fun' (as an adult) or for younger children to have fun playing a friendly mystery game. The last levels were definitely a bit of a battle!Health warning: the last levels can potentially lightly strain the hands... *ehem*..
