As annual releases go, the LEGO video game franchise is probably one of the most hotly anticipated and critically acclaimed each year. Taking a popular movie franchise or universe full of unforgettable characters and spectacular storytelling to give them an adorable LEGO makeover instantly appeals to anyone of any age, so it’s no surprise really at how often TT Games supply us with these truly remarkable games. With a number of LEGO games releasing within the next 12 months, it’s difficult to decide which ones to pick up if you don’t intend to get them all, but when one of them involves one of my all time favourite movies I had to claw my way to the front of the queue to pick it up.Could this game be an absolute beast that dominates all of its ancestors, or has it brutally murdered one of the finest movies ever made? Well, it’s LEGO so it won’t be the latter, but I do hope it’s as good as the others.Jurassic Park is now the latest Hollywood blockbuster to get the prestigious LEGO makeover in the form of LEGO Jurassic World, releasing as usual on all current and last gen consoles by the reliable team of TT Games and Warner Bros. Covering all 3 of the original Jurassic movies as well as the latest Hollywood reincarnation, LEGO Jurassic World promises to introduce newcomers to the series and entice avid fans back to the amusement park that gave all children in the mid 90s terrible, terrible nightmares. As well as featuring all of your favourite and more memorable characters from the Jurassic Park movies, players can now control some of the Park’s star attractions, the dinosaurs themselves, which to come equipped with unique abilities key to completing the game’s levels and free play. Following suit from the previous franchises, LEGO Jurassic World too features new voice work as well dialogue cut from the original movies to once again bring the movies back home. I know full well that the game has been released to coincide with Jurassic World’s cinematic release, however personally there are far bigger and better-known franchises that could have been made instead, so have we dug up a real gem here or have we instead unearthed a block ridden turd?LEGO Jurassic World starts right at the very beginning, with a dinosaur brutally murdering an InGen employee and that hunter bloke asking for someone to “Shoot her!!!” (bet you read that in his voice too). We are then introduced to the stars of the franchise, Dr Alan Grant, Ellie Sattler and John Hammond, who are entrusted to visit the park and endorse it to calm down potential investors. After agreeing to the, in hindsight, suicide mission, Grant and Sattler meet the steamy Dr Ian Malcom (complete with that infamous laugh) and that bloke who dies on the toilet, all of which have had their voices pulled from the movie. Having the original voices placed into the game are, for me personally, what makes the LEGO games that little more special for players who are fans of what it is spoofing, however pulling audio from a movie over 20 years old does sound rather crappy amongst audio pulled from a studio in 2015. This awkward difference in quality is only noticeable when dialogue is between an original cast member and a re-recorded voice artist, especially in scenes involving the late Richard Attenborough, who despite being a master in his craft, his voice is almost unsalvageable from the 2 decades old movie. Anyway, once you’ve stopped laughing at how OTT Jeff Goldblum’s maniacal laugh is, the helicopter lands in Jurassic Park ... or Jurassic World, it’s your choice where you go from here. I like things to be linear and chronologically structured, so I chose to venture through Park, Lost World, Park 3 and then making the trip to Jurassic World to finish, plus I hadn’t seen the latest film before receiving this game. Condensing four 2 hour movies into 20 levels isn’t an easy task and though the studios have done well to adapt them, unfortunately, it did feel a little sparse to the point that players new to the franchise won’t fully understand what happens in each film; all the key moments of each movie are included in each of its 5 levels that do neatly summarise the films without any lose threads. The Parks and Worlds that have been recreated in LEGO form are all gorgeous to look at and highly enjoyable to play in, especially when you’re in Free Play mode, which once again lets you peruse at your own pace and use specific characters to obtain golden bricks and new cast members. Though all 4 films take place in jungle and park terrain, it was great to see that each of the games do look and play considerably different to one another, making it a joy to visit each one during both the campaign and free play. Likewise all 4 films do contain very similar events and scenes like running away from dinosaurs, sneaking around raptors and to some degree battling a T-Rex, however once again they all play out differently in each of the games, meaning yes it may look similar to a level you’ve done previously however it is essentially new and you’ll be completing this one in a very different way. Players could potentially be bored by the similarities found amongst each of the games, but at the end of the day every level has been well thought out and is great fun, so there’s really no need to complain.Where LEGO Jurassic World fails is unfortunately where every other LEGO game excels, and that’s in its range of characters, I mean try your best to name more than 6 characters that aren’t dinosaurs. In the past we’ve had huge cast lists from the worlds of Marvel, DC, Tolkien, Disney and Harry Potter, all franchises with a rich history/lore and a huge array of unforgettable characters, however Jurassic Park isn’t one of those franchises. Sure they are great movies with some of the most terrifying and spectacular moments in cinema, but it doesn’t take much playing before you start unlocking “Crew Boatman”, “ Junior Explorer, “InGen Security Guard”, and other generic created characters; personally for me this is what makes LEGO Jurassic World inferior against LEGO titles from the past. That being said, TT Games have been very clever with their cast, and each character’s abilities have been very well thought out and some of them are absolute blinders. We all remember that famous girl’s scream every time she saw a dinosaur but did you know that that frequency also shatters glass and destroys obstacles? Or how about Dr Sattler who in one scene stuck her hand into some dinosaur poo, well obviously she likes to dive into big piles of dino crap to search for valuable items. For a franchise that revolves around regular human beings running for their lives, they’ve done a great job in still making it fun, daft and surprising. To unlock the newly built dinosaurs for your aid is no easy task as you must collect a wad of amber that is hidden in almost every level in the game, and in doing so you can control your new found dino-buddy in free play mode. Just like regular characters, LEGO Jurassic World’s dinosaurs to have unique abilities, however, it’s a shame that not all of them are useful. You’ve got your T-Rex that shatters objects with its roar, your Triceratops can charge into barricades, your Dilophosaurus will spit poisonous goo at enemies whilst your Troodon ... well does nothing. All in all there are 23 dinosaurs to unlock with 14 super cool abilities between them, but there really is no need to play as the ones that do guff all. There is no denying that controlling a dinosaur is pretty badass, but it is disappointing when you’ve spent ages searching for the item to unlock a new one, only to find its only use in the game is to see what one looks likeLEGO Jurassic World is a mighty impressive game that sadly doesn’t reach the benchmark that has been set by its predecessors. The game’s biggest faults are unfortunately its small, barely memorable cast and it’s noticeably similar levels between movie to movie, which isn’t an issue for the more casual player, but for big Jurassic fans it is a little disappointing. The audio quality of the original casts from the first Jurassic trips are little hit and miss, however as the franchise progresses this stops being an issue; it’s just a pity that the best one of the 4 doesn’t sound as good as one hoped. . Controlling dinosaurs is pretty awesome so at least this addition has led LEGO Jurassic World to improve the series, but apart from that it’s tough to recommend this title over other LEGO games from the past. It may not be the finest LEGO game we’ve discovered, but they’ve spared no expense in creating a bloody good playground for all to dig around in.

I was looking for a new game to keep me entertained until Batman Arkham Knight is released later this month. This is the first Lego game I've actually owned, and having played snippets of Lego Marvel Super Heroes, and quite enjoying it, I thought I'd give Lego Jurassic World a go.I decided to play the game in chronological order, beginning with Jurassic Park; one of my favourite films of all time. Instantly, it was easy to recognise each character (providing you know who they are in the first place) and the scenes that had been lovingly recreated in Lego form. I did pick up that some scenes had been recreated with added comic effect; I think this was a move to make these scenes suitable for younger audiences.Gameplay:Gameplay is smooth, fluid and well animated; I've yet to experience any drop in frame rate. Each character has their own unique ability, ensuring you put a little thought into puzzles (I mean a little) and don't speed through each level as the same character. Characters and dinosaurs are both responsive to controls and playing as a dinosaur is great addition. There were a couple of instances of clipping and characters getting stuck on objects, swapping to another character and smashing these objects seemed to fix this. The camera on the whole is good, not excellent, but good. It does seem to have a tendency to pan around when I don't actually want it to and in some of the more confined areas can zoom in unnecessarily close, making it awkward to see what's going on.As I write this review I have finished the Jurassic Park story and I'm currently half way through The Lost World story. Finished doesn't mean complete, and in fact to complete the game I will need to spend hours going back into free roam mode, once I have unlocked certain characters, to complete all tasks and collect all the gold bricks. To me, this does feel like a bit of a cop out to extend the lifespan and replay value of the game and I did find it a little frustrating you're not able to complete these objectives on the first run, but it is what it is I suppose.Presentation:The characters, dinosaurs and non-Lego environments all looks great. The smashable Lego objects did underwhelm me a little in certain aspects, with low resolution textures and low-poly models, however, I'm sure this is a sacrifice to ensure higher frame rates and smoother gameplay due to the sheer nature of volume of these items. The weather effects are particularly effective and add an extra dimension to some dramatic chapters. The game has a clean polished look and the blend of non-Lego environments and Lego characters actually stop this game from being over the top visually and colourfully.Sound:The sound is authentic. The original dialogue, dinosaur roars and theme music we've all (well most of us) come to recognise are exactly as they were in the films. However, because some of the dialogue was recorded nearly 22 years old, it doesn't have any real depth to it and actually sounds quite flat (credit to Ben Franklin-Shaw). Combine this flat sound with the cartoonish nature of the Lego characters and you end up with some scenes that just doesn't seem to match. There is also a distinct lack of variety in the background music and, as much as I love the Jurassic Park theme, I just had to turn it off after hearing it for the 1000th time (exaggeration). Having said that, I wouldn't have asked for anything else other than the original actors voices and sound effects. On the whole, it's a solid game. It caters well for younger audiences, who are relatively new to the franchise, as well as people (i.e. myself) who are much well familiarised with Jurassic Park. It's visually impressive and, although it has some minor gameplay bugs, they're not a deal breaker and nothing a quick patch can't fix. Dialogue and sound effects are a mixed bag, though they do nothing to detract from the game itself. I've yet to play the Jurassic World story and I'm certain this aspect of the game will have better clarity and depth due to the recent nature of the film.If you're looking a game you can pick up and play for hours on end or in short bursts, I recommend Lego Jurassic World. It's not particularly challenging but it is fun and instantly rewarding, which is ultimately what will make me go back to play it again and again.

Like a lot of day 1 buyers I too had the corrupt game update: However you can very easily fix this; Just clear your cache in your storage and then play the game - only this time decline the update. Boom - away you go. The game is still fully playable, you can still get achievements; the only thing is youre not online during gameplay (as soon as you come out of the game, it reconnects)Now admittedly its absolutely ridiculous that the game has been released with an update that causes it to corrupt; and yes its irritating each time you switch off the game and come back to it, to have to decline an update again - but I guess this will be fixed quickly (it'll have to be if they want to save their sales!).Maybe one day XBox will learn to only release games AFTER bugs have been fixed but whatever - this is one of the easier ones to work around for the time being.Unpleasantness aside - the game then - GREAT fun! There is... a degree of loyalty to the film plots, with key signature scenes brilliantly incorporated, but its been smartly evolved into an almost stand-alone game, so its familiar - but fresh (I havent played World yet, as Im planning to see the movie first, but if the others are enough to go by, Im sure it'll be awesome). If youve played any of the other movie tie-ins, like Lego Harry Potter or Pirates of the Caribbean, you know what to expect - its the same type of gameplay - story-lead stage levels with sub-level tasks to progress through, use of key characters with specific skills to complete certain puzzles (switching between 2 or more preselected characters in story-mode, before you go freeplay when you have the selection options) - and ultimately replay value through re-running levels with unlocked characters to pick up the extras, and collecting pips and red bricks to purchase "play enhancers". Game play includes some (limited) free-roaming and vehicle dash/ auto-scrolling levels (being chased by the T-Rex and so on), but the big difference in this one is the unlocking of playable dinosaur characters! And of course, theres the option to connect a second controller for co-op play; Its not necessary to get the most out of the game or anything, but it does mean if say you have a friend/ partner/ child there, or have two kids, it makes it a bit more fun. And argue-y ;-)The graphics are flawless, clean and clear; with the token amusing animations you expect from a Lego game. The audio is great - all "main script" voice-over is through audio clips from the movies - which for some reason sounds hilarious... Especially when coupled with Lego's typical interpretation on the animation clips - which ranges from tongue in cheek to downright belly-laugh-inducing. Anyway, the Lego comedy spin franchise, clever use of script, daft background antics, co-op play potential and replay value make a fantastic, family-friendly Lego game experience that both younger and older gamers will enjoy. For me, Im yet to play a Lego game as fun as the Potter series - and in comparison, this one for me is a 4 - maybe 4.5 star game. Still great fun though (shameful update issue aside of course!!)

If you look in our console games drawer, you'd see a LOT of lego games. I've enjoyed many with my son. From the early greats like Indiana Jones and Star Wars, to the more modern Lego Movie and Lego Marvel Superheroes. I'd say we have over a dozen lego titles in total. The more recent efforts I've found to be a lot less accessible. Back in the day, the lobby's were small-ish, and you had a good idea where you were going. These days, half of the challenge in these games seems to be working out where to go next. The fact they have to guide you with light-blue studs which may or may not take you to where you want to go, just adds to the frustration! It's just not as fluent as it used to be in my opinion.I also feel there's less emphasis on puzzles, and more on fighting, which is a real shame. Don't get me started on Lego Clone Wars. I was in danger of getting RSI, the amount I mashed the square button!Lego Jurassic World certainly strikes a better balance, in that there is less fighting, and a bit more puzzling. There are still some "WHERE AM I GOING?!" moments. But definitely not as many as Lord of the Rings, or Lego Movie. Of course, if you love the film series, you'll adore the references. I am loving how they treat any character played by Samuel L Jackson (I'll let you find out for yoursefl!).But like all Lego games, perseverance pays off. Once you've worked out how to charge a dino, and where to drive the jeeps, you'll be cruising around chasing that platinum trophy. For the price, you are getting so much content it's staggering. Obviously you're playing with your kids (right?) and ultimately it's them that Lego are targetting. But there were definite times where I heard "Dad, I'm stuck" and had to help the lad out (he's 9). So bear that in mind!

Lego Jurassic World exceeded my expectations. This game is a hell of a lot of fun. The graphics are amazing, the game play is great. The films have been re-created very well and I was so surprised how much the first movie still held up in Lego. For the first time I have been challenged in a Lego game because they make the puzzles slightly more difficult to get your head around, whilst they're easy, its interesting that the game gets you thinking. The best thing about this game is the fact that you can play as the dinosaurs during the levels in story mode, its so cool. Hearing John Williams' music along with the cut scenes and the game play is just great. The problems I have with the game, sometimes the dialogue isn't necessary during the game play particularly in the levels for Jurassic World when the two brothers talk, it gets a little annoying at times, and occasionally some of the levels are a little long, but overall a fantastic addition to the Lego games and it surprised the hell out of me, they do pad out the campaign for Jurassic Park III but overall I loved this game and the hub is great you can travel to both Isla Nubarr and Isla Sorna which is great and some of the loading screens do take a while, although you do have Mr DNA on the screen along with some dinosaur facts which is really cool :) Overall if you're a Jurassic Park fan, then get this game, its great its got all 4 movies on here and there is hours of fun. Also funniest part of the game is seeing characters dive into the dinosaur s*** xD

An absolute winner with the kids containing three of their current favourite things - Jurassic Park/World, Dinosaurs of any variety and Lego. What's not to like here. Even if the game wasn't any good it would hold masses of excitement. Lucky enough it is good.Shelling out £30-40 on a lego game each time (Star Wars, Indiana, Harry Potter) seems excessive and its good to always get a bit of value. We only bought into Star Wars when the compilation one came out and this is of similar style you get both Jurassic World and Jurassic Park adventures in here. Also spans across JP movies one to three, so there's abit of gameplay time here.Played it abit myself but my 5 and 7 year old have completely loved it.They're both dinosaur mad and love collecting the studs and dinosaur DNA during the levels. Also playing as all the movie characters and dinosaurs themselves is a winner. A definite 5 stars with few flaws and plenty of value.PROS+ features JP and JW sections of the game (value here) and all key scenes from each movie.+ play as characters from both films and dinosaurs+ controls simple to understand (especially if you've played other version of lego movie games)+ movie style cartoon sequences are well done audio taken directly from the filmsCONS- format is much the same as other lego games, I guess when it works why change it but Lego could do with revamping the style of their games and playable format.

Simply put, this is a great game. It is full of fun and silliness like all the Lego games and this one follows all 1-4 Jurassic Park films including the latest 2015 film Jurassic World. There's a huge variety of levels including the iconic T-Rex car chase, hiding from Raptors in the kitchen, uncovering ancient bones and fending off dinosaurs in every shape and size. There's lots of characters to choose from (including the dinosaurs themselves) with lots of extra items to collect throughout the game. It's really quite fun stomping around as a Stegosaurus or fighting as a T-rex. The game is 1-2 players and there's an easy-to-use map to guide you around the open world park. The game is enhanced with the original film dialogue and soundtracks with the only bad point being that the dialogue occasionally sounds a bit quiet. Younger children might be easily scared by the Raptor attacks but overall this is a really fun game for children and adults alike.Update: There is a minor lag/loading issue that occasionally occurs when exploring the open world park. The game pauses and struggles to load quickly if a character, dinosaur or vehicle is running fast around the island. This can be a little frustrating when some of the island activities involve racing against the clock as the momentary pauses break up the flow of the race. However it soon corrects itself without freezing or requiring any other action.

well first off I've played most of these from starwars, Indiana jones (Still the best) the setup is as expected collect the studs to earn points to get characters & vehicles... But this does also give controllable dinosaurs and they bring a new dimension to Lego games. Typically if you don't like any of the others this is not for you but who doesn't like movie tied Lego games... Ahem Ghostbusters or Back 2 the future come on Lego you know we need it for us "big kids"For a parent question as Jurassic park is quite violent with the eating of people does this follow suit.. The answer is no the scenes have a "Lego" twist to it so don't expect Dennis to get spat on & eaten...I brought this on the day we went to see Jurassic World 3D this has been one Jurassic day & my son loves both. We Have just finished Jurassic park 1 & it's been fun, entertaining watching what Lego do next with the scenes. Overall a great movie addition easy achievements fun for big kids and normal so what are you waiting for ...."Welcome to Lego Jurassic Park"

I bought this for my 5 year old son, a jurassic fan, and he absolutely loves the game. The game is divinded in two, following either the original jurassic park film or jurassic world. My son has just completed jurassic park segment. The game is mostly simple problem solving but presented in a variety of ways and closely sticks to the original film, which makes it fun too for those of us just watching like myself and 3 year old son. They have cleverly taken some of the tension out of some of the more scary scenes by giving them a humourus twist not in the film. For example the game keeper killed by a velocirator in the film instead has a dinosaur stick a banana in his gun. Many of these twists had us all laughing. There was a little combat with dinosaurs but these involved simple actions with no real time pressure. Most scenes are about you fixing things or building things rather than combat, for which my son only needed minimum help.I was very impressed and will certainly buy more lego games in future.

Anyone expecting a port of the PS4/PS3 version of Lego Jurassic World will be a little disappointed with this Vita title. It is considerably smaller and lacking in content when put next to its big brother on the consoles. The graphics are less vibrant, with fairly washed out colours, there are no hub worlds to explore and the character roster is a lot smaller. However, this is one of the best Lego titles on the Vita system by far. Yes it's scaled down, but as an "on the go" game, it is perfect to dive in and out of when you have the odd free moment. Once all the levels have been played through in story mode this opens free play, where you can access new areas with new characters unavailable during your initial play through,to find new collectables and finish challenges and get the game to 100% completion.I got the platinum trophy in just over 11 hrs and all the while loved every second of the Lego trip I took through the Jurassic Park universe recreated in our favourite Danish blocks.

This was bought as a gift for someone who loved the ds version of this game. The recipient is very pleased with it. She says its quite different from the ds game and is definitely more challenging. She can manage the levels well enough and believe me she was a master of the ds game but apparently the hub is very confusing and very easy to get lost in. I’m a fan of the lego games myself and do wonder why the creators do seem to like to have confusing areas within their games. Anyway it follows the films pretty well during the levels and you have all the usual characters from the Jurassic series. I’m sure the recipient will get the hang of the hub eventually but this confusing area is why I’ve deducted a star.Despite this It’s a great game and is suitable for 7+ I would have said. Probably one of the great things in this game is the ability to play as a dinosaur. So if you like all things Jurassic and you enjoy a challenge then this is worth buying. A good lego game.

This is the first Lego series game I've played on the PS4 and it's excellent. Graphically very good, great game play and a lot of fun. I love the fact the cut scenes are just Lego versions of the film, they've made them very well. If you're playing with two players, the split screen can take a little while to get used to. One minute you're at the top, then the side, then the bottom, and you sometimes can't see everything you need to if you split up. My wife who isn't a gamer loves to play this along with my 5 year old son. We've probably played it for about 15 hours since new and it has crashed once, and there's one area we've got to where the game went a bit wrong and hasn't allowed us to switch characters,so we can't progress. Other people are reporting it's buggy, maybe this is what they mean, but anyway, it's a very good game and a reasonable price too and loads of characters to unlock and things to collect, so should keep us busy.

OK, with lego you tend to either be a huge fan or someone who hates it and whilst I’m the former, I have to say that I do expect a lot from each of the outings to make it not only fun but also something that entertains me as an adult. This time we embark into the world of the Jurassic films and to be honest I’ve had a hell of a good time. There’s something extremely rewarding about smashing lego bricks with either a car or with a dinosaur. Yep, you read that right, smashing the hell out of stuff with Dino charges or stomps. It’s a great lot of fun and when you throw Lego humour into the mix all round generates something that will entertain for quite some time. All round a wonderful piece of fun that has a lot going for it and a lot of replay value as you return to freeplay levels to get the maximum points and of course picking up all the bonus’ that you couldn’t without some additional characters. Great fun.

Lego games like the next generation systems just get better and better! Being able to play through all four Jurassic Park films brings back so many great memories. As well as being able to play a huge number of characters from each film you can also play as the Dinosaurs, having to utilise their attributes to progress through the levels! The gameplay is smooth the graphics are top notch. This is a game that will satisfy young and old, as all Lego games do. One very tiny flaw worth mentioning is the voice acting used in the first two films, the voicing of the original actors is very quiet and when the background music is playing it's very hard to hear what they are saying unless you have subtitles on,however if you're a fan of Jurassic park, you more or less know what is being said in each area of the game. All in all a great game and worth buying!

I love playing as the dinosaurs when I have the opportunity; I have 9 out of 20 dinosaurs. But there is one problem- I was playing I had to stop playing to go to bed. But there wasn't a save point in the game nearby (because it hadn't been long since I saved and continued) so when I tried to exit it from the pause menu it would not let me 'save and exit' but it said return to the island so I quit as I didn't want to get it trouble so I exited. Then I opened the game the next day and my loaded game 'corrupted' so I had to start a new one which is the one that I now have 9 dinosaurs on, so I don't really care about the corrupted one as I went past my progress in the corrupted one with my new one.Gameplay,is good but the Velociraptor abushes are somewhat scary. I have a game guide so I know how to play the game.
