This is my first Mario Tennis game, and I'm finding it pretty good. I flew through the beginner and intermediate single player tournaments, and then got repeatedly beaten in the final of the Champions League. That's my main gripe about the single player, the difficulty isn't as balanced as I'd like it to be. Once you've finished the tournament (or given it a rest for a while) there are special tennis 'mini-games', where you can shoot balls through rings to get points. The technique you need to get is to shoot through several rings at once to get a score multiplier, the rings get bigger so they're easier to hit but the points value decreases. There are bronze, silver and gold difficulties,I've yet to finish it on gold where you need 500 points. There is also the Mario Galaxy game, where the opposite end of the court has panels that disappear and you musn't let the ball fall into the black hole. I've yet to complete the 100 rally difficulty on this, it can be brutally tough! There are a couple of Mushroom Kingdom themed games too, but i think you get the idea now. That's about it for single player, there's also exhibition matches where you can set the rules, like the number of sets and so on.The single player wont last very long, so you will get more out of this game when you go online. Here you can challenge players in your region to either a casual (tie-break match) or an intense match (2 games, 1 set), or let the 3DS decide. I have tried both, and while I got my ass handed to me several times before I won my first encounter I was starting to get used to playing human opponents. The game tries to pair you with people of similar skill, but sometimes it doesn't! Mario Tennis also uses the new 'Nintendo Network' system, but I don't see what this really does, as it just says 'Connecting...' and then asks whether you want casual or intense games. There's not anything else in the online, you can collect medals showing the face of the Mii you beat. You get a monthly score which goes into a leaderboard for your region and a ranking which starts at 2000 and either goes up or down depending on your performance (mines down at 1896!). You are awarded coins for a victory which can be spent on shirts, shoes wristbands and so on that have their unique power, speed attributes. With the customisation options you can build your own unique tennis player to exactly the way you prefer to play.I will briefly talk about the controls, but I don't want to sound like an instruction manual, however I think this is important. When the ball is returned to you a circle with a colour appears on your side of the court. The colour corresponds with one of the face buttons (y,x,b,a,a->b,b->a) as shown on the touch screen. This tells you the best shot to play, and you can touch the flashing panel to make the shot. It can be difficult to know which type of shot to use if you can't remember what charge shot colour corresponds to what face button (y,x,b,a,a->b,b->a). This means you rely on the touch screen for help, but this can be awkward in the heat of battle, and you don't have easy access to the jump shot button (r shoulder button), so you can't hit balls that are normally out of reach. You will need to memorize the different buttons for each colour, otherwise you'll be at a disadvantage. This is a nice tennis game for the 3ds, in fact its the best tennis game on the 3ds but then you'd have to play something like Dual Pen Sports to get tennis otherwise. The controls are probably my biggest gripe with this game, but I reckon I'll improve with time, it's not that the controls are bad but it takes some practise and patience to master them. If you're looking to expand your 3ds sports game library, you can't go far wrong with Mario Tennis Open. I can't help but feel there could've been more game options for online, it just seems a bit bare bones but it's fun if you like climbing up leaderboards. This is a fun game, and you can only get out of it what you put in, if you aren't bothered about leaderboard positions in online matches you wont feel as motivated to play online as you may hope but it's still a welcome break from the single player. Mario Tennis fans wont be disapointed.**A LITTLE UPDATE: 28/05**I have just beaten the single player singles Champions Cup, after memorising the chance shot ring colours and their mapping to the face buttons. It makes it so much easier when you can do this. I know I said the single player wont last long but it will last a bit longer than I thought, you'll find out when you play it!I have played online some more, and I'm still getting thrashed and only winning rarely. Human opponents can be very unforgiving.

After previously playing Wild World and Lets go to the City, I bought New Leaf this year and have grown obsessed! It's just such a cosy and relaxing game. Everything is happy and playing really cheers me up when feeling down. It's nice to just escape from real life for a while in my little Animal Crossing bubble. There are so many things to go in this game and you could play for years and never run out of things to do or collect. You'll start off life as the mayor of your New Leaf village, with a few animal villagers which you will become friends with, chat to, carry out tasks for (if you wish). Over time, you will soon have up to 10 villagers move in. When you first start you will gather tools which will allow you to fish, catch bugs, hit rocks containing hidden gems, bugs or bells (the currency in AC). The more you buy from your shop, the bigger it will expand until you have a three-storey model, housing a designer boutique on the top floor. You can also purchase clothing, and even design your own. Talk to Sable (the hedgehog behind the sewing machine who always seems too busy to talk) for 10 days and you'll unlock a sewing machine which doubles as a QR machine, allowing you to download the many clothing patterns on the internet, or even design your own.You will build on your town, planting trees and flowers and building Public Works Projects to make your town beautiful. For each day your town is perfect, you will receive a rare flower near your cliff edge. The more you play, the more you'll unlock. Expand your catalogue and build a museum of fossils, bugs, fish and paintings that you'll collect over time. Not forgetting upgrading your home and designing it with the furniture you'll also buy and collect. If that's not enough, there's also mini-games you can play within the game; find a Wii U and a DS in a fortune cookie in Nooks shop to play Desert Island Escape and Puzzle League. There's also an Island you can visit alone, or with friends and you can play mini-games there too. There are over 80 special events that happen throughout the year too, such as the fishing tourney, Bug Off, Mother's Day, Autumn Moon, Halloween and Toy Day to name just a few. On these days you can collect special items which are not available the rest of the year.If you're looking for a nice relaxing game, this is definitely the one for you. Ideal from any age. I play daily, aged 38, as does my 9 year old Daughter and 19 year old son! This game was updated in recent years to include the welcome amiibo update. You will find a lamp with a little ghost inside. Scan in an amiibo character or card (great collectibles in addition to the game) and you can invite them to move in to your village, ask them for a unique item, or ask them to visit your campground in their RV and order their special furniture items. 3DS and 2DS XL consoles have a reader installed. You just swipe on the bottom screen. But older 2DS's, you will have to buy an NFC reader if you want to use this part of the game, but again, it's optional.

I ADORE this game! I had Wild World on the DS/DSI and was really upset when my DSI began to play up. I got a 2DS XL as soon as I possibly could after the DSI stopped workly successfully and this was the first 3DS game I knew I wanted and that I bought. I have had the game for about a year now and play it every day. I adore the ability to change your hair style and colour that I couldn't get in Wild World, the ability to customize the fashion further with tights, socks and shoes, the beautiful graphics, awesome weather phenomenons such as meotor showers, wishing stars and fireworks that you can design the shape of! You are mayor and the way in which you become mayor is constantly hilarious to me.I love how you can choose your town layout in the very beginning, customize your town (being mayor) and that the animals come to you more now, being their mayor. You can get coffee at The Roost and get takeaway coffee, which I think is adorable. What I think is my favourite thing about the game that makes it different from Wild World are the little challenges. Working for Jack for halloween, working for the reindeer for Christmas, the secrets, collecting the prizes from the fortune cookies, learning the orders of everyone in the town at The Roost and working there with the knowledge you gain, visiting the island and playing the mini-games, exploring the many different dreams avaliable in the Dream suite and collecting all the expressions from Dr. Shrink in Club LOL. Couldn't recommend this game enough. So pure and makes me so happy. Right combination of cute, light and weird. Anti-depressant game right here! 100% an Animal Crossing nerd

I’m very new to the animal crossing games and I really thought it wasn’t for me I thought it would be slow and boring so I put it off many times but I kept hearing its popularity growing and people talking about animal crossing so much I thought I’ve got to see what all the fuss is about for my self and I’m so glad I do I really really enjoy the game it’s different to other games and its very relaxing to play without all this heavy action keeping pumped it normal gaming you can just pick it up and relax your way through a little town that you help create with you home and activities to do its really good it runs of the time zone that you living in I.E country (Uk USA)etc so it feels very real its not really a massive night time game though as I do a lot of my gaming at every in the game light shops etc are closed other characters are sleeping and you can’t change this as it runs off the time zone your in but that said its a really fun easy going relaxing game which can became very addictive and I really love the whole way this game works its different from my usual games and I’m very impressed I highly recommend this game for kids or adults and its a bargain game at £16.99 for the 3ds its hours and hours worth of fun which I suppose will never really end because its got no missions or chapters of the game so it not like you can complete it and then its done so the replay value is amazing too

I thought when I got this game it was very good and fun. The characters were very good and I'm surprised that you started with so many. You can unlock Characters by doing special games. There are four special games in total and they all have something to do with super Mario bros apart from the ring shot where you play tennis with Donkey Kong and hit the ball through the rings to get points (for points in all special games you get coins as well.) As you start to build up coins you can buy things at the shop i.e clothes, wristbands, shoes and rackets for your mii but you have to unlock the the item before you can buy it, you do this by simply playing matches. When you play matches you can either play an exhibition match or a tournament. In tournaments you have to complete the first one to be able to do the second one. They put the easiest tournament first and the hardest one last. You can't choose your opponent it gives you random people to compete against and you have to play them you can play doubles as well as singles. In exhibition matches you can choose your opponent and the rules of the match like the number of sets and games and you choose the court and you play. In exhibition you can play singles and doubles but once you have completed the tournaments there is not much to do except earn money.Overall: This a very good game and recommend it to all Mario fans who have a 3ds.

I got a new 3DS XL and this game is just.. its amazing, and it is the most realistic game with time travel. Let me explain Your young the world is a happy colorful place and everythings just nice but there are dangers, when you do travel through time and become an adult, everything is poop, every one is depressed, dying, miserable, ruined, destroyed. Everything just sucks and everything is trouble. But it is one of the best games of all time ported to the 3DS so you can play this portable on the move.. Buy it. The controls work nice with it, the 3D is pretty decent its like looking through a window rather than looking at a screen. If you have played the N64 version one thing that will probablyconfuse you is the layout for the ocarina it is just so weird and seems/feels backwards or ODD when hitting the notes. Sarias song etc everything is a little confusing but fortunately the two screens work so well you can have the notes on the bottom page telling you which buttons to press while you play it on the top screen. Its fantastic the graphics are a nice improvement and yeah. Everything besides a little confusion is just that bit better or the same. Which is good. 5/5 MastaPiece Baby!!

On the evidence of this I prefer this type of game to platform or sports one.it seems to be a game format that Nintendo do well and which plays well on my son's 2DS.There's humour in the game and nice touches as you puzzle out the ways to get around the various rooms and mansions.Battling the ghosts can be at times, exhilarating, stressful or a bit irritating (when struggling to defeat them). It is really clever and the atmospheric music adds greatly to the game.I am not too enamoured of the dialogue with the professor which drags and which we rush through or skip at times.I have now played about 8 games on the 2DS and this far this is mine and my son's overall favourite. It can be frustratingwhen you are stuck on a level and the ability to save at any stage would be better.I also have to admit that at the start we had to look at an online cheat page to get going. To excuse us somewhat though my son hadn't played video games much before and I hadn't for years so we needed a little hand up.Overall, a really good, enjoyable game that should keep players amused and enthralled for along time.

I really wasn't interested in getting this game as I am not into tennis, but the Mario fan in me couldn't resist. One of the great things about this game is the amount of Nintendo characters you can choose from.Donkey Kong, Wario, Bowser and a loads more that are unlocked as you progress. You can also play as you Mii which is fun.The game is a bit easy at first but the later cups become a bit more competitive. The gameplay is fun and addictive, but the best part of the game is the mini games. Especially "The Super Mario Tennis mini game" where you use the tennis ball to play levels from the original Super Mario Bros Game. The game has online play that works really well, however you have to have a perfect signal to get it to work which is a similar problem with Mario Kart 7. Another fun part of the game is the item shop, where you can purchase different costumes and equipment for your Mii. The only Problem with the game is that it is a bit short, and once you complete the cups there's not much to do.Overall: It's a great game with lots of Nintendo charm, but a little bit short in content.

At the time of writing, there are not a huge amount of great 3DS games available, so it's best to stick to trusted Nintendo franchises that involve obese Italian plumbers. Mario Tennis Open is no different - it is extremely polished, well presented and quick, addictive fun. There are a few different modes available in the game and each offer varying levels of difficulty and satisfaction. Some are harder than Geoff Capes wrapped in concrete (like the single player doubles mode), whilst some are as varied as Michael Jackson's skin colour (online multiplayer). All in all, there is not an awful lot to say about the game, you run about the court with your character of choice (obviously Donkey Kong or Yoshi),using the correct button for each appropriate shot type until your opponent loses the battle of wits and runs the wrong way when you sell him a textbook dummy. Simplistic, but addictive. Bonus games, hundreds of unlockables and the desire to spank one more punk online before tea keep you going back and as you never really 'complete' the game, the fun never ends!

My all-time favourite villager Roscoe is still there, and that's all that matters!Just kidding! There's more!I played Wild World for the longest time, got the complete mansion, fully decorated the inside, perfect town, all the flowers in every colour, all the fruits and fossils. I always struggled with bugs and fish though. I grew up playing Animal Crossing and to have a modern version now is the most wonderful thing!I can't recommend this game highly enough. Expanded character customization, home exterior options, more furniture, wacky new characters and personalities, a tropical island escape AND Mr Resetti is now TOTALLY OPTIONAL!! Best believe I will never in a million years get the Reset Center.Wonderful soundtrack, familiar cutesy graphics, Roscoe, permit to decorate the town itself however you please, Roscoe, various fascinating visitors to the campground, a lovely secretary who rings little bells wherever she goes, Roscoe, custom clothes, Roscoe... what's not to love!

As a huge Mario fan let alone a tennis fan i must say that this was a product for me to get.The good:For one on a Nintendo 3DS you look at the 3D which i found very effective, I also like the graphics. So far i think a lack of graphics is within the 3DS games but i really think the graphics have a real Mario feel to it engaging you within the game. I love how you can customize your character and even use your very own Mii!The Bad:The reason this game has not achieved 5 star is because its far too repetitive e.g. You serve, you play, then you powershot so it just is in a continuous cycle.Overall:If you are a Mario fan it is worth checking out this game, but if you are seeking a long term entertaining game then head for the other mario games (Mario Kart 7 or New Super Mario Bros2.) My son loves this game so i think as a present to younger ones would be great.

My first Zelda was "A link to the past" and it will always hold a special place in my heart. So seeing how this takes place in the same world with its soundtrack and items based off that is wonderful. It is also great to see the world in modern graphics with 3S to boot. The wall merging adds a serious extra element to puzzle solving but not so much as to be too difficult. The new system of renting or buying items is very interesting and I do like it as if you have trouble with a certain dungeon or boss you can just go do some others to get your hearts up ect.The characters are funny and the game still has the charm of the original. Plus having a wallet that can hold 9999 rupees in from the start is great. Also quick equip is very handy too.All in all I wish I had gotten this sooner as I've been glued to it since it arrived lol

The point of the game is for Luigi to solve the mystery of the suddenly aggressive ghosts all over the area. Along the way, you have tasks to complete often involving hoovering up ghosts to put into a container at the lab so when the mystery is solved, they can go back to being big floaty goofballs. At first, I wasn't a fan as it seemed super easy and repetitive. Well it is but it became quite enjoyable and the storyline moves along and gets harder as you go. There were some super challenging points that made me think and did struggle on some levels. Perfect to 'waste time/have fun' (as an adult) or for younger children to have fun playing a friendly mystery game. The last levels were definitely a bit of a battle!Health warning: the last levels can potentially lightly strain the hands... *ehem*..

I bought this for my nephew but ive played the N64, GC and this version to completion various times through the years. You can't go wrong with this game.My nostalgia goggles makes me prefer the older models of link but thats no big deal.I also prefer the harder version of the water temple(they only changed it slightly so its more obvious what floor youre on and what water level it changes to), but the 3DS version offers Master Quest once youve completed it. So atleast theres that. The main criticism of the 3DS version is something alot of people will like. You get an extra button to use, but touch screen use is necessary for it. Im just not into that.I know its nit pickyThis game is a masterpiece thats why the complaints I have are dumb.
