It's great to finally be able to follow sims to work and control what they do and how they interact. Sims can now take on the professions of ghost hunter, interior designer, firefighter, stylist, private investigater and doctor which is a new hybrid of the career and a profession. Teaching has also become available as a career. The teaching career acts just like regular careers, sims can become teachers and disappear into the school each day, returning a few hours later. The doctor career has had a make over, your sim still goes to work at the hospital, but sometimes they need to attend talks around town, and a doctor's work is never truly over as sometimes if your sim is in a public place somebody might start feeling sick and your sim has to go to the rescue, diagnosing them on the spot and helping them recover. This makes the doctor career more fun, but you always have to be on the lookout for a sim in distress which can take away from relaxing in public areas. The professions such as ghost hunter are jobs you have to follow your sim around with. Although the actual job is fun to play and watch, it's very difficult to control a multiple sim household if one of them has a profession, and you end up ignoring the rest of the family to follow you sim, or ignoring the sim's job to control their family...something dangerous to do if the fire alarm goes off.The ghost hunter's work hours are at night and the sim is given locations of paranormal activity. These are other sims houses and when they get there the house is lit up in creepy colours, there's a fun ghostly music playing and your sim has to get rid of the ghosts (ghostbusters style-by sucking them up). Ghost hunters can take home spirits they've collected and sell them or display them at home like a butterfly or bug. The types of ghost problems get trickier the higher up in a profession a sim is.The private investigators hours are open which means any time of the day or night they can take on a case. This involves taking to sims, searching through bins and mailboxes, holding stakeouts, etc. They can also work at the police department which is again walking into the building and emerging a few hours later with some extra cash. The interior designer profession I haven't really played yet, but sims go round to others' houses and redecorate according to a brief they've been given. I'll edit this when I have played this profession. The same with the stylist, they go to work at the new salon/tattoo parlour that you have to put into your neighbourhood to get this feature. The stylist takes on clients who come to the parlour and give them a new look, a lot like the interior design profession, and again I haven't played much with this so can't say more. But one sim in your neighbourhood will be turned into a stylist automatically when you have this parlour and as another sim you can still go and get a makeover...which is completely random. The firefighter has to work at the firestation (another lot that has to be placed on start-up). Everyday a sim goes to the fire station and waits for the bell to ring, in the meantime they can chat with other firefighters (a few neighbourhood sims are automatically assigned this job) and build skills or maintain the fire truck and alarm. Sims can even sleep at the station. When the fire alarm sounds sims have to respond and go to the house where there's a fire. One random house will have a fire and the sim will have to put out the flames and save any random sims that are trapped inside. Occasionally the sim will have to deal with an earthquake instead and this involves going to multiple houses one after the other to turn the gas off and unbury any sims trapped in rubble. This profession is very time consuming and extremely hard to play in a multi-sim household. The perks of professions are the extras sims get. There are lots of medals and trophies available and sometimes the mayor will award a sim in front of city hall. The professions are also pretty easy to get to the top of compared to careers. There are also self-employed careers sims can have. These don't earn a background salary, but can keep track of how well you are doing, these include fishing, inventing, sculpting, painter, etc. The sculpting and inventing are two great new features and made more fun if you dig out scrap metal from the junk yard which again has to be placed at start up. Sims can construct lots of things and it will take a long time to unlock all items. The self employed professions though rely on you selling things you've made or found, and these can be sold at the consignment store. This again is another lot you need to place at start up.THE BAD:All of what I've said so far is the great stuff in the game, but now comes the flaws in the game. One of them is tattoos. There is a bug in this game where sims (yes they can go and get tattoos) who go to the parlour and get a tattoo will reset their age to the first day. This means that an adult about to turn elder will suddenly be reset to an adult who just became an adult. This happens for every sim who can get a tattoo in-game and is a bug that's never been fixed in any expansion. The second big problem is following sims in professions. I found it annoying that so much time was spent with my sim that I had to play these professions with a single sim. Switching between the active sim and the family to take care of things eventually made my game unstable so I'm forced to follow one or the other.Laundry, although fun at first and it boosts sims moods to wear clean clothes, only became a problem. Once a sim places a washing machine, or laundry basket anywhere on the lot the game starts creating laundry. Everytime a sim changes clothes laundry can appear on the floor and this became annoying when a sim changed for work in the kitchen for example. The benefits of laundry only mattered the first time I did laundry too. Sims would always be happy with clean clothes, even weeks after I refused to do anymore laundry. This game doesn't have any major bugs except for tattooing, and there are plenty to things I haven't mentioned such as the introduction of a new neighbourhood which is great. There are a lot of new features and with this expansion every new game in new neighbourhoods start with lots like the junkyard, consignment store, beauty parlour and fire station already placed. This is a great expansion as there are lots of new items and things to explore but again beware. I did actually run into a bug with teaching, my game crashed everytime my sim went to work; this was fixed when I installed another pack but I don't know if this was unique to me or a general bug.I still give this a 5 for the amount of new content and for the fact that compared to other packs this was one of the richest and flawless expansions of the range. It works on vista and you'll need the code inside the box to install but no online connection required at all. Great game overall.

I bought Ambitions as my first extention pack since buying The Sims 3 game. It's a very different addition compared to all of those that have previously been available for The Sims and The Sims 2 which I had purchased (most of them). The Job's which allow you to control the sim whilst working which are referred to in the game as careers (fire fighter, stylist etc) are a lot of fun when you are playing on a single sim family and it brings in a fair amount of 'similones' for your sim, however if your playing with a family with children/babies and a partner you may find it difficult to juggle an adult sim with a career and family life. When I was playing with a large family I had an adult sim as a firefighter and I found myself relieved when the weekend came on the game because I finally had control of all sims on one lot, this is because during the week on the game I had to constantly swap between the home where the children and the wife were to make sure everything was running smoothly and then to the fire station to make sure my firefighter sim didnt miss an emergancy (as this makes his work experience deteriorate) and to make sure his needs were attened to.One other problem I found was the lack of new clothes (the only clothes I found were uniforms and workman outfits which I haven't used yet) and there are only a few new items however I admit the new items that have been added to the game aren't bad and I have used them a lot when building and furnishing homes. Now don't get me wrong, I do really like this extention pack despite a few difficulties. There doesn't seem to be any glitches and I've had this game for a couple of months or more now. Sim's can now wash their clothes and dry them, there is a new 'eco friendly' personality trait which creates positive moodlets for sims that are eco friendly if they ride a bike to work, if they recycle, wash up the dishes instead of using the dish washer and if they hang the washing out on the line in the garden instead of using the dry cleaner (all to save energy), you can build a cellar under the house, I noticed a few more different life amitions that pop up for sims during create-a-sim that are a bit more interesting than the regular "get to the top of the buisness career" or "reach level ten in these two skills" ones so these give you more options with the sims lives, Their are new hair stles which are a nice change from the Sims 3 original hair styles which were extreamly boring to me, PLUS the hair stles on create-a-sim aren't the only hair styles available, if you pop to the salon in the town and click on the stylist station selecting the option of styling your own sim then there are a couple more hidden hair styles for your sim to try. The list of new features goes on!I would recommend this product to those who are interested in more exciting ways to bring in money for your sims and want something that surrounds home life more than most extetions packs seem to however I don't have any experience of the other Sims 3 extention packs so I can't say this is the best one so far for everyone but I must say it's a nice change from just playing on the original Sims 3 game. I haven't yet got bored of Ambition however I am buying the Sims 3 Late night extetion pack to see if I can get more out of the game rather than just careers and home life.Buy this extention pack if the careers side of the game interests you because it is really a great game from that perspective.

Wouldn't it be great to follow your Sim to work and control them there? Or would it? On the plus side, no more staring at the screen whilst the hours scroll by on ultraspeed. But on the negative side, you now have to control your Sim's every action rather than letting the automation do all the work.Ambitions offers the opportunity to do just this. It introduces a number of new careers, where the player must control the Sim throughout their working day. The careers are:Architectural designer - which will be loved by players who like the building and décor options of the game more than the actual play, but is boring for those who don't.However has the advantage of taking the player out of normal play so can focus on just the design job in hand.Firefighter - plenty of opportunities for excitement, but this is a difficult one to manage if you are also playing other Sims in the dayInvestigator - not terribly exciting, involves picking through litter or asking for jobs at the police station - not one I played for longStylist - will be loved by those who love designing Sims and their hair/clothesGhost hunter - capture/exorcise ghosts from around the neighbourhood - quite fun for a while, if you like the supernatural stuffIn addition, doctors now have the opportunity to perform paid controllable work, such as holding vaccination clinics, in addition to their day jobs. But given the time needed for an aspiring medical Sim, once you've taken into account working hours, reading journals, on-call time, and improving skills, I doubt many would want to engage in this. The other careers remain the same and the Sim cannot be controlled whilst at work. There is a new conventional career track, education. One of the better features is enabling Sims to register as self-employed. For Sims with a high skill level at painting, writing, fishing, gardening etc., this can be a very lucrative option. The Sim earns money by doing their hobby, and in addition to the conventional money from selling their wares, they will receive regular bonuses. This is a great option for Sims with kids, or even just those that you don't want to be tied down to a regular job. They can keep their own hours, improve their skills, and you have a much better chance of keeping their mood high. There are three new skills introduced; sculpting, inventing and tattooing. The latter is fun for players who like designing things. The inventing skill results in some interesting and useful inventions - including time machines - but be careful as Sims can catch fire whilst inventing. The sculpting skill is quite fun, though not much different from painting and can be quite pricey. There are some new lifetime rewards and lifetime wishes, all related to the new careers, and new traits that likewise match the new features e.g. 'savvy sculptor'. There are a number of new items, perhaps most notable being laundry - which gives positive moodlets but can lead to piles of clothes appearing all over the place! There is the option to sell goods of any kind at the 'consignment store' - however this has a lot of bugs and I found selling in the conventional ways to be easier. This expansion has enough new forms of gameplay to keep things interesting, and therefore I would recommend it.

The great thing about the Sims has always been that you control somebody else and you can be as reserved or as adventurous as you want with their lives. However, there's always been a bit of a big BUT when it comes to the Sims. What's that then? Well are we ever really in control of EVERYTHING? The answer is no. Up until this point we've been unable to actually see past the front doors of the building of the place our Sims head off to work. Not anymore!!Now the Sims has finally taken off. With the addition of a bunch of new careers (now called professions) including ghost hunters, firefighters, doctors, private investigators, stylists and architects we are able to control exactly what our Sims get up to at work. Now this works just the same as any other job in that we send our Sim off to work at the designated time, they can earn promotions and progress to the top of their field. The main difference is, now when we send our firefighter, lets say, to work we get to control almost everything. They get to work and can work on their fitness whilst waiting for an emergency, or we can get them to build relationships with their co-workers by the standard interaction instead of choosing "build relationships" on the drop-down menu we're all so used to.On the main map we can now see where our professional is needed. If we're a ghost hunter, an icon will appear above a venue telling us that we're needed. We then click on the menu and can begin getting rid of those pesky ghost using our fancy new gadgets - or we can be rebellious and leave the ghosts to haunt the neighbours anyway. Similarly, what you get up to whilst you work doesn't always have to be productive. The architect may go off to access their customers home and personality in order to re-design their house but whilst inspecting a thing or two might slip into their pockets. That's right, our workers are sometimes a bit dodgy if we so wish.A great aspect of the game is the ability to work for yourself. No more do you have to have a typical day to day job. You can be a fisherman, a gardener, a writer and a tattooist and all of these self-employed professions still have promotions but you can work at your own pace.So what are the pitfalls in this new expansion? I can't really find any. I love the new careers, there are so many new outfits, interactions, lifetime wishes and the introduction of a bunch of new work related items such as the architects drafting table or the stylists makeover booth (all of which can be upgraded by handy Sims to make them even more productive). For once, I can't fault EA, they've even seemed to fix some of the major glitches the other packs were giving me.

It was good delivery once dispatched, although it took 3 days to be dispatched which was slightly annoying as I was so excited. But the game itself was physically good quality, as was how you play it! Its brilliant! I love the new edition to it that you can control them at work, with the options of firefighter, stylist, doctor, private investigator, ghost hunter or inventor! There are new hobbies which include sculpting, tattooing and mastering the inventor skill. You must be warned though, it can be very hard to control more than 1 or 2 sims, so maybe a few of your sims could go back to the origonal jobs so you can concerntrate on 1, because trust me, its hard work otherwise! There are a few new outfits, not as many as I thought there would be, but there are still some. There are some new hairstyles, and if you choose the stylist career there are even more when styling sims, or you can style yourself! There is some nice new furniture, and even a motorbike! I found that great fun...there is also a trampoline, and new game to play which is fun. On the trampoline it can be quite funny, occasionally one of my sims would tumble and fall to the floor which I found rather amusing!! There is a new town, although it is quite industrial, which is a downer for me personally because I prefer brighter, more lively towns, but its fun and is nice to have a change of town. You can buy the library and other places on the town and redecorate them to make them more styllish which entertained me for a few hours! I definitely recommened the sims 3 ambitions, and with this price is unbelievable - a brilliant bargain. If there were 6 stars I'd give 6, but unfortunately there are only 5! Brillaint product, I wouldn't hesitate when buying it!

As the title suggests, this is the best expansion pack. So,here are the new professions:(sorry if some facts are wrong, I lost my copy)Designer: My favourite profession, you get to go into somebody's house and create a certain room like a gym etc.It is self-employed and you'll have to apply at the city hall.Investigator: You have to solve crimes for people, like investigating in rubbish bins, breaking down doors etc.You apply at the police station.Scientist (kind of): You can make things like trinkets, which you sell at the new store that's been added. You apply at Landgraab Science thingy, I think but it may be self-employed.Stylist: You can design Sim's hair and makeup,as well as create a new set of clothes for them and add tatoos. You can do it when your not technically in work too. Apply at the stylist place that's been addded.Doctor: Only kind of a profession, if anyone around town on in your home is sick you can heal them, but you don't get to see your sim work.Apply at the hospital.Architect: Have never tried this profession, but I think you make sculpture's of people and stuff. You can also add tatoos, but I think you can do that in the stylist profession. It is self-employed.Fireman(or lady): You hang out at the awesome fire station, while you wait for there to be a fire.If there, is you put it out. Obviously. Apply at the fire station.Ghost Hunter: You go and suck up ghost's that are at other sims house's, which you can sell at the science lab. You apply at the science lab.The Sim's 3 Ambition's is overall the best expansion pack, thanks to the new locations like the dump, the new map, the new professions, and the new sim customisation.

The Sims 3: Ambitions is by far one of the best Sims 3 expansions there are at the moment. It gives your Sims more jobs and professions, plenty of clothing and some hairstyles, lots of new traits and even some items/furniture!Starting off with the careers:FirefighterGhost HunterStylistArchitect [Home Designer]Tattoo ArtistPrivate Investigator [Sherlock Holmes/Investigator]And a couple more which are professions.A firefighter has many things to do and instead of those boring "rabbit holes" you see the insides of the building. You can mantain/fix/check alarms and the fire-truck, work out in the basement, jump on the trampoline or just chill while also tending to a normal Sims needs. You won't even need a home since they have everything you need to survive and entertainment!I can't say what EVERY last career and EVERY profession does but you can check out this review for more information:[12+] [...]If your new to The Sims this is an ideal expansion and so far, I may say it is the 3rd best out of the expansions and stuff packs due to the amount of content it provides.[1] Late Night[2] Seasons[3] AmbitionsI have only had it since really Christmas Day Night and I have been using its content a lot so I highly recommend it even at its full price.

As with all of the Sims expansion packs, this one adds a little more game play to an already great game. Building on the ability in the base game to have a little more say in what your sims do at work - Ambitions allows you (in some professions) to actually go to work with your sim! A bunch of new 'professions' (as opposed to the usual 'careers') are added, including firefighter, ghost hunter, private investigator and architect. Sims in these professions generally work from home (although firefighter sims should be at the fire house) and during work hours icons will pop up around the map with work opportunities. It's up to you and your sim to make the most of these to gain job experience which progresses your career. The usual careers are still available and work as normal, with the education career being thrown in as well. There's also some new skills objects like a workbench to make things from scrap metal which can then be sold. Sims can also be tattoo artists and hair stylists (there's some others as well but I haven't gotten to trying them yet lol!) As usual with an expansion pack, there's also new clothing and items so be had.Definitely a good load of extras for Sim enthusiasts!

Despite frantic warnings in some reviews about glitches, I have had no problems whatsoever. And compared to the Sims World Adventure game, this gives you much more value for money and hours of fun.Your sims have a lot more to do in terms of learning skills in their spare time and the new jobs are ace! For example, following the sims to work as a fashion designer is a lot of fun for people who dream of becoming stylists. However, doctors on the job don't do much more than diagnose illnesses by clicking on options above your sim's head arouns crowds of sick people so not much fun there. So far, I have found the stylist and fireman jobs to be the mote interesting and interactive, and the sculpting skill, the most fun.You also get to buy community locations and upgrade them however you choose to increase the weekly payout. The only annoying thing is that you have to click on each individual location to collect your money as opposed to using "collect all". When you own the whole town, its quite a chore! ;-)All together a great buy, hours and hours of fun for everyone and a lot more to do in your Sim World. If you dont have it, BUY IT!

After reading and hearing so much positive feedback about this game, I actually got my brother to buy it. The first thing I have to say is that I was excited to see that as well as the new interactive occupations, sims can now also be teachers- something I had always wished on for my sims. The clothes and hair for this expansion pack, I have to say is not the best, however it makes playing as children better as they can sell their cakes- a really nice touch. I also really like the new home decor because it is my sort of style and was also excited about the laundry, because it makes the game seem so much more real.Although it is great that now you are able to STILL CONTROL your sims fully in work, there is one REAL BUMMER for me. It is very difficult for you to control two sims who both have one of the new interactive occupations. I find a much easier way is to only have 1 per family. For me the game would have been a 5* game if they did what they were supposed to without total supervision.None the less though, I love this game and although there are problems for me, the game overall is really good fun! x

I thought that this game is a really good idea and I was completely addicted to it for the first two days, but after that it got boring very quickly and I haven't been on it at all for a few weeks. On the game I tried being a stylist which was fun for a while but it was very repetitive and my sim was basically doing the same thing each day. I also tried being a firefighter which was far more interesting as there was more variation in the job, but once I got to level 10 it got boring because there was nothing to work towards. Generally this game is very good and there is certainly much more to do, but its very difficult having a profession if there is more than one sim in the household, which is annoying if you want your sim to raise a family. I haven't had any problems with bugs or the game unexpectedly closing down (I use a mac by the way). I'd recommend this to sims fans although I think World Adventures is a better expansion pack as there is more to do.

Wow I think this game is brilliant it comes with a new town and new places to visit. I can play the sims for hours on end. Your sims going to work is whole new great experience as you get to take part in their day, but bare in mind that this is only with the new professions all old jobs are still the same. Your sims have now acquired two new skills sculpting and inventing and with these new skills your sim can become self employed. Also there are a few new traits like eccentric and eco-friendly.The only bad thing i have to say is that you may get a little bored with the new professions, say you have a sim that doesn't work you may not be able to see to them until your sim with the profession has finished work.I found this with the architectural designer job especially as you are designing other peoples homes which means it goes into build mode.I hope i was of help and haven't put you off too much i hope you enjoy the game like i do :)

When I first brought this game I had a big problem trying to install it; first it wouldnt load when you put the disk into the computer - then it did and wouldnt install. When I finally managed to install it the game would not launch, so I left the game on the shelf. I brought a new laptop and it works perfectly.I think that Ambitions ONLY works properly on Windows Vista and higher. If you have XP dont think about trying to install . . . it wont work.Overall, I think it is a well thought-out game. It's nice to be able to go to work with my Sims and see what they get up to. Though it is hard to lead a normal family life with them as they dont come home unless you ask them to.Unlike the normal jobs where they come home at the end of their shift. I do like the Stylist professions and like the fact that I can register my sims as self employed - it adds a nice twist to the game.

I got this game along with several others, including Late Night. I loved Late Night, it's my favourite expansion asides from Pets. This game is like the Sims 3 version of the Sims 2 Open for Business. There are many new careers available, and the careers already there have mostly been expanded on in some way. The professions are an excellent addition.A profession is where you get a job such as being a Stylist, then you can control your sim in work. You can see inside the salon, and you control what your sim does during the work day. With being a Stylist, you can work on client's requests, giving random makeovers or something else useful. My favourite yet is being a firemen - I love that profession. There are some other additions, that make this a brilliant expansion. Well worth it, really adds to the gameplay, guaranteed every devoted Sims player needs it and loves it.

I love this latest expansion pack, the new town twinbrook looks very realistic and the fog and swampy areas are a really nice touch as it gives the place a mysterious creepy feel which has never been done in the sims before,i like the new laundry option even though i wasnt sure about it before and visiting the laundromat to socialise while i wash my clothes, all the new careers are awesome and take many hours of fun play to reach level 10 with many hilarious adventures along the way,the new simbots are adorable and alot of fun to control and play with and being able to decorate your sims with tattoos is wicked, overall this is a great pack that has really spiced up my game with alot more thingsto do and it is way better than world adventures in my opinion even though that pack was ok for a few weeks, this one will keep me entertained for alot longer!
