This is an honest review and i hope i’m able to help anyone looking for a shaver which works well not just on the face but on your head too!I’m going to write about my journey to where I’m at now.I shave my head and face and have gone the razor route and suffered with bumps and soreness, I have tried many and it’s safe to say that my skin is just sensitive to razors no matter the brand.I even tried the Braun series 7 foil shaver which tugged and pulled and left my skin irritated and sore.So i used beard trimmers the wahl what a shaver with the T-blade which did a good job with my face and head but i wanted shorter...I then brought the bald eagle shaver which despite negative reviews i neverhave experienced problems and although it was good i would shave using the beard trimmer first and then finish with the bald eagle, and although the results were clean it was very time consuming.Another thing to mention is that I’m a black man and our hair grows curly as opposed to straight and can often coil resulting in ingrown hairs.I looked into the Philips as an all in one quick solution because as i said i shave my face and head bald with the beard trimmer then to smooth it off with the bald eagle shaver. After looking and reading many positive and negative reviews i decided to take a chance and buy it, mine has the docking cleaning station.Out the box it screams quality and after charging it for an hour it was ready for use.An important thing to mention as I’ve read many negative reviews is to give the shaver time read the manual although there is no writing the pictures in the manual are very self explanatory. It also advises that you shave in a circular motion, as i pointed out give it time as your face or head will need to adjust, this was the case with the bald eagle shaver when using it for the first few weeks on my head!On to the good bit! I was amazed at how quick it shaved my face it really just glides over the skin, again using the circular motion!!But what amazed me more was how clean it took the hair off my head!Honestly this has got to be the most pain free and quickest and cleanest shave I’ve had in my life!!!!I mean all in all i spent about 6-7 mins shaving both head and face which i would have spent far longer if it was with the beard trimmer and bald eagle! There is no tug or pull just a smooth gliding experience which results in a shave which leaves you looking super fresh and smooth!!!A little tip guys would be to use some Nivea post shaving balm followed by some Nivea light cleanse cream after shaving it will not only soothe your skin but it smells nice and leaves you with a nice healthy looking glow, and no I’m not sponsored just a guy helping out the fellas with some skin care help! For anyone looking for an all in one solution for their face and head look no further, of course we all have different hair types and textures but this is my honest review it gave a really really close shave and is a joy to use.So in conclusion it gets a five all day why?The clean shave it gives leaves me with zero friction tug or irritation, the blades lift and cut the hair thus reducing irritation! It is quick so saves you time cuts so close i actually think I’ll be good for a couple days before needing to shave again! The resulting finish in my case is definitely closer than a razor and closer than even the bald eagle shaver! It’s quiet in operation and ergonomically designed.Takes an hour to charge which is a plus.Emptying the hair couldn’t be easier just pop the foil head off the shaver and rinse the loose hair in the sink it also indicates when the shaver needs a rinse which is cool! And lastly although costly i think you get what you pay for!I’m satisfied with the results!Again hope this review was helpful.

Better than "the best a man can get"The Phillips Series 9000 S9211/12 wet/dry rotary shaver is simply the best electric shaver I have used EVER , not even a contest.I have always preferred a wet shave as most electric shavers I have used in the past irritate my skin and you get that warm feeling on your skin also the result was never as good.I have a very coarse dark beard ( OK a few bits of grey ) which I have shaved since the age of thirteen. I was in the Military for twelve years and shaving everyday was compulsory. This has the side effect of making your beard thicker. I was blown away by the Series 9000. It gave me the best shave I have ever had with an electric shaver and is easily as good (I think better) than a wet shave. I had no irritation whatsoever no heat on the skin and the result was amazing. My wife felt my skin and said it felt as smooth as a baby's bottom!Read the instructions about changing a shaving routine. This electric shaver is waterproof and is a wet and dry shaver. This means that you can have shave while you are having a shower which is a big time saver and you can choose to use shaving gel with it. This seemed like madness to me but in the interest of providing a full review I thought I'd try it. This is now my new personal favorite, a thin layer of shaving foam then shave in circular motion rinse the shaver and continue, so much quicker the wet shaving but the result is fantastic. It is a shame that no charging stand is supplied as standard. If you want a stand then you can buy a smart cleaning system which will also clean your shaver but this is at an additional cost. There is also no head guard supplied so you do need to be careful but you are provided with a good solid travel case, a very good precision trimmer and a tool for removing the head blades and a mains cable. It is easy to clean even if you decide not to purchase the smart clean system. All I need to do is turn it on rinse under a tap then turn off, remove the blade film and run it under the tap that's it. There is even an indicator to remind you that it needs cleaning. An icon lights up on the handle. There is a battery indicator (in the form of led bars) on the shaver so this lets you know clearly when the charge is getting low. Once fully charged the shaver seems to last for ages - easily two weeks and it only takes about 50 minutes to recharge. It's sleek design means it fits your hand perfectly and it is light to hold although this doesn't mean that it feels cheap and flimsy - it feels well made sturdy and luxurious.I was also amazed at how quiet the shaver was - it is barely audible. It is a shame there is not a way to try before you buy. I am confident that if you could try you would buy it is that good. This is easily the best electric shaver I have ever used and I have no hesitation in recommending it. 5/5 10/10 five stars whatever you want it's GREAT. This is probably the best electric razor I have used. It offers me the closest shave I have had, I that I think is possible, while not using a wet razor. What more could you want?!The device itself is lightweight, but not so much that it feels inexpensive or like a toy. The main head which includes three blades also swivels somewhat meaning it's very manageable and ergonomic. It is therefore easy to manoeuvre around the face and neck, even around classic problem areas like the Adam's apple. This razor is fully waterproof, so if feel so inclined you can use this while having a shower. I have tried this several times, deciding to use a lather on my face too for extra comfort and protection.Doing this gives you the best shave you can get from this razor - owing to the warm shower opening your pores and the lather offering a lubricating barrier between machine and skin. However, for me, this takes too long and that surely defeats the purpose of the razor. I prefer to use this pre or post shower when doing something else, be it filling the kettle, or checking emails! After every use, as per the instructions, I unclip the blade section and rinse it out. It does fill up quickly so it is advisable to do this. As well as being able to shave, this model also comes with a precision trimmer. Unlike some models, it's not attached to the device. You have to pop off the shaving head (it just pulls off) and replace it with the trimming head. It does exactly what you'd expect, and it is very good at it. No hairs have got stuck in it, which has happened with other models I have used in the past. I find it frustrating that it doesn't come with an interchangeable length guard. Having a couple of different lengths to be able to cut would really make this an 'all rounder' device. Just to be able to tidy up your sideburns or part of your beard would be useful. Although easily demonstrated as a feature, one flaw I have found in this model is that the blade mechanism (the part you remove to clean it after each use) comes off far too easily. There have been two times that I've clipped it against a trailing finger and it has popped off. One of these times, the top part landed on the sink, one of the three blades popped out and an orange ring that is in place to secure said blades went down my plughole never to be seen again! The razor still functioned perfectly when put together again (without orange guard ring), but I had to be very careful opening it again after each shave when washing it because one blade component would be loose. I have received a replacement ring since then and it's back to being safe in that respect. All in all a fantastic device, perfectly fulfilling its requirements and making my morning routine that little bit easier! Unlike most of the reviewers, I always use an electric shaver largely because of speed and the fact I have sensitive skin - using a razor hurts like h*ll.My current shaver is a Philips so was eager to try this out. I must admit to being slightly overwhelmed with it. My old shaver sits there and gets a manual clean every so often but this one comes with it's own cleaning system! Obviously this price bracket puts it into a different league from my current one so I thought I'd give it a go before embarking on this cleaning stuff.Comes with a two-pin shaver charger so I charged it up in what seemed like no time at all. Now I grow facial hair at an irritating rate so I have to shave every day but I missed a day to catch it out.I did half my face with my old shaver and did the other half with this. I was mightily impressed. Obviously this new shaver has new blades but it was noticeable how much closer the cut was. In addition, it didn't pull any hairs which my old shaver does on longish facial hair and a Braun I tested last year did.Time to try the cleaning system. Now this is a bulky unit where you insert a cartridge in the bottom and the shaver fits in a cradle above. The charger lead fits into this and charges your shaver at the same time as it's cleaning. They suggest using this system once a week and every time you use the shaver to clean it under the tap. I was reticent of this as I expected the cleaning cartridge to have a nasty smell akin to women's Veet stuff - luckily this is not the case but you have to be careful not to jiggle the unit around once the cartridge is in just so it doesn't go every where. The cartridge if used once a week will last 3 months. A pack of 5 cartridges is available on Amazon for just under £30 which isn't too bad - roughly a fiver per three months. So I fitted the shaver to the cradle, pressed the top and away it went, making a variety of strange noises as it turns the shaver on occasionally. This shaver uses the cleaning system that also dries so the cleaning part only takes 10 minutes but the drying takes 4 hours. I opened the shaver after it had finished and it was completely clean. So I am very impressed. Clearly if you are a razor user, you are not going to fork out a huge amount for an electric shaver but if you use electric every day then I can highly recommend this. Whether, through time, I don't bother using the cleaning system then I'm not sure but I don't clean my old one as much as I should because I'm quite lazy in that regard. Fitting a shaver to it's own cradle to clean is simple and I don't have to think about it.Well done Philips.

I wanted to wait for a few months of use before I wrote this review, just so I wasn't guessing anything long term.I've had a few shavers over the years since I started with this little 2 headed thing when I was 18 - THIS shaver is THE best shaver I have ever owned. Having horrible, sensitive skin I eventually realised I was going to need to go down the wet shaver route so I could use shaving gel. This shaver is a beast. It screams quality the moment you first see it. But looks are one thing - but won't help if it performs badly. But this shaver excels. You only need to use a very light touch, and it mashed through my stubble in seconds after the first stroke or two - and not some tiny little 1 day growth hairs,I'm talking about 3 or 4 days of not shaving. So much so that when I first used it, I saw these thick long hairs after I'd moved the shaver around a bit, and thought "well that's not very good then" - but they actually turned out to be hairs it had removed - they'd just been thrown around my face. Yes it does miss bits - ANY shaver will. You just learn where the weaker points are and home in on those, and over time you will have to go back less and less.Definitely the fastest shaving time EVER, and with total flexibility - meaning that even after you've rinsed it off and dried your face off, you can just go back and get all the ones you've missed - without having to wait for the unit to dry out again like my previous (dry) shaver. Best of all, I no longer look like a burns victim afterwards, and the whole process, for a shave after 3 days, is so fast that I can even now do it before I leave for work (on a dry shave I had to wait until my skin settled down a few hours later). The battery lasts for a LONG time - I'd say at least 4 to 5 shaves for me - but again this important to note - I'm referring to shaving after 2 or 3 days - as I really can't be bothered shaving every single day. It lets you know in a sensible amount of time before the battery will die - and unlike the slowdown of an electric toothbrush before it dies, this shaver will simply either work or won't work at all - there is no slow down like in older electric shavers. And with charging back to full in just an hour, it's hardly much of a trauma when it does run low. This isn't the cheapest of shavers but you do get what you pay for in this instance. If like me you simply cannot use a manual razor blade, or if you've got a much older electric shaver and haven't upgraded for a while, or have sensitive skin and have been wondering if wet shavers are worth it - I would 100% recommend this product.

For almost 30 years I've been shaving using a wet razor. On the whole I was always pleased with the closeness of the shave but like many men I've struggled with irritated skin and in particular ingrowing whiskers. Two years ago I decided to make the switch to an electric shaver which was on the whole a great move. It left my skin in a much better condition and I was much happier although there were still a couple of problems. The finish from the electric shaver wasn't bad but it wasn't as close as a wet shave and left me with 5 o'clock shadow by mid morning. Also I've been left with a number of very thick whiskers on my chin, presumably as the result of the ingrowing hairs. My electric shaver was unable to trim these, meaning that I had to have a weekly "top up" wet shave just to tidy things up.With this shaving history I was keen to try the Philips series 9000 shaver in the hope that I could ditch the wet razor for good. The shaver has 3 rotary heads which can be swapped for other accessories, a trimmer and a brush are supplied along with the main shaver head. Also in the box is a decent hard travel case and the charger. The shaver must be charged before use and can't be used whilst charging. That said the battery life seems brilliant, I've been using the shaver for a couple of weeks and the power display is still showing a full charge. This is important when away on holiday as you don't need to take the charger with you. If you are travelling there is a handy travel lock to prevent the shaver accidentally being turned on in your suitcase.I have to give this shaver top marks for shaving, I'm very impressed. The finish is definitely as good as a wet shave and the shaver copes easily with the thick stubble. The shaver can be used wet or dry although I haven't noticed any particular advantage to using it wet.Cleaning is easy, a quick rinse under the tap is all it needs and once a month remove the head and clean this thoroughly. The heads should last two years and there is also a 2 year guarantee. The head is easy to remove from the body and the accessories simply snap in place, I have used the trimmer on my sideburns but can't find a use for the brush head - I'm not much of a modern man though! Also available, although not supplied, is a beard trimmer with comb.As I said, this is a brilliant shaver although if I have one small gripe it is that the trimmer is a separate attachment rather than integrated into the body of the shaver, I would prefer only to have one thing to lose rather than two!

I'm writing this as not just a review but also as a comparison, because at this price point there are really only two key brands and you need to consider both. I've been using the rough equivalent from the market leader in foil shavers for about 6 months and this Philip's 9000 series for around a month. Both come with semi-rigid travel cases rather than the useless soft pouches which offer little protection and they have similar battery life - which is excellent and in my case means a charge is only needed every 3 weeks or so.The Philips shaver is a little lighter but still feels very well made, there are nice silver bits here and there which make it look and feel like a premium product, more so than my other shaver. In addition it feels much nicer and easier to hold even with wet hands. This shaver is a lot quieter than my other, which in my case is a very good thing as I have to get up early for work before the rest of the house, it's a minor thing but if you've got young children you'll probably know what I'm on about. It is also much quicker to use as I find I'm not having to go over the same areas several times, pulling my skin this way and that to catch the missed hairs, the Philips shaver seems to get nearly everything on the first pass. The other bonus of this is that I find I'm suffering from virtually no skin irritation, which was something I occasionally suffered from around the neck. The main downside of the razor is the lack of a built in trimmer. You have to click off the shaver head and snap in the trimmer unit. It only takes a couple of seconds and I don't do it every day, but my other razor has this built in and so it's just a flick of a switch and away you go. The trimmer is excellent though. The wet performance of this shaver is also very good, but not something I use very often so I wouldn't feel confident in commenting on too much, other than to say again it's comparable to my other shaver.Cleaning is very quick and simple, just rinse under warm water and it's done. My other shaver uses the cartridge cleaning system which is a bit of pain as it's noisy, takes ages and isn't cheap. In summary, this is a quality shaver, which provides a close, comfortable shave with no skin irritation. It feels and looks like a premium product and I would not hesitate to recommend it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

There is no reticence on my part in writing a review of the Philips Shaver series 9000 wet and dry electric shaver S9211/12 V-Track blade system PRO 8-direction ContourDetect Heads SmartClick precision trimmer. This shaver has to be experienced to be believed and is a major leap forward in shaving technology. From unboxing I was already able to see the potential in the shaver being protected by the sturdiness of the case provided an essential when travelling. For those men such as me who do not read the instructions in the booklet provided, there are directions on the shaver reminding them not to use the shaved when it is plugged into the mains socket. That aside the shaver came with the shaving head and a sideboard trimmer, the sideboard trimmer works as it should and is a useful attachment giving a clean and sharp edging. The shaver comes with recharging lead and is easily charged following the instructions given.Using the shaver dry is unbelievably fast in comparison to what I have used in the past, on occasion I have been in a rush out and have grabbed it to run over my face quickly. It has been surprising just how well it shaves in so little a time and without irritation. It shaves really close on a quick pass over and with a little more time and a bit more attention it shaves better than any other shaver I have used either wet or dry. No need to open to clean it out unless you don't use it for wet shaving which negates the need to do this.Truly the best way to use this shaver is in wet shaving. This is a real experience and leaves you with a zingy, fresh clean close shave.Just add your shaving foam in the usual way and making sure the shaver is not connected to the mains begin shaving. I find it best to shave in small circles and not apply too much pressure. You can hear the hairs being scythed off your face and the smoothness of the process is an experience not to be missed. I truly love using this shaver in this way and with the occasional rinse in water the shaver is self cleaning. It leaves me with the closest shave I have ever had and does so efficiently and effectively. I fully recommend it without reticence, reserve or regret. I hope it lasts me for years. I use the previous version of the Philips 9000 shaver the 9031 and on first glance they are identical. It is supplied well boxed with a travel case, a "Smart Click" long hair trimmer that clips in to replace the shaving head, a power lead (terminated on a two pin shaver socket plug,) and instructions along with a 2 year warranty. The shaver itself is efficient and powerful and seems to hold its charge well providing multiple shaves without having to be recharged although it should be noted it can not be used when charging and only works when the charge lead is removed. It has LEDs showing the charge and feels nice in the hand with a positive on/off switch. The head uses Philips Smart Click system and is easily replaced by the trimmer although this is less convenient the the flip out trimmers in other models it does allow for additional heads to be added such as a beard trimmer. There is nowhere to keep the trimmer and it would have been nice to see storage in the travel case.It claims to be more efficient for 1 to 3 day old stubble and surprisingly despite looking so similar to the previous one I found this to be the case with it coping better with longer, thinner hairs especially around the neck. This may have something to do with the other one being over two years old but it still seemed very good and better than other Philips shavers I have used in this area.My main concern though is the price, the list prices for the new and old models are the same but shavers are notorious for discounts and the Amazon discounted price is much more expensive for this one than the previous one which apart from not shaving longer hairs as well, looks and performs the same. Also the cheaper 7000 series also has much larger discounts that make the premium for this shaver hard to justify. This may change after it is launched for a while or during sales and promotions.

Initially I may have been slightly sceptical about using an electric shaver again. Mostly i have ended up using Disposables as Electric shavers have always caused me irritation. I have probably spent a small fortune buying various brand and models to try them. So when i got the Shaver Series 9000 i wasn't sure it would be any different.Fortunately i was very wrong on this occasion. Not only do i get a great close comfortable shave but there has been absolutely no irritation at all, not even a sign of the smallest red patch. I have tried it wet, tried it dry, in the shower, and nothing no reaction to it.So the only conclusion i can come to is that they have developed a better precision in the cutting. Also i thought on first inspection i wasn't happy that it didn't have a docking unit to charge, but it seems the way this charges and its battery is actually better. The battery lasts longer then previous shavers i have owned and i like the nice clear battery indicator. This is also very easy to clean, others i have had have be a real hassle to clean but this is easy and simple to do.The 2 year guarantee gives me the feeling that Philips also feel confident about the quality of the product. Now the quality of the shave its self is very good, something i can say that i haven't found from an electric shaver before, which is why i always ended up back with disposables, but this is of a higher calibre its close, comfortable, it isn't missing hairs and it doesn't take forever to do.So i would say i'm extremely happy with it…. from the man that doesn't like electric shavers!

I am writing this review on behalf of my fiance who uses the shaver. Since I have known him (10years) he has tried so many different types of shavers from different manufacturers searching for the Holy Grail... searching for one that doesn't irritate his skin but does a good clean cut and he's never been able to find one he's completely happy with until now. The shaver is easy to charge and once fully charge lasts a long time..He's been using it 2 weeks now and hasn't had to recharge it yet. Obviously this will depend on how long you use the shaver each time.It is very easy to use and understand though it does come with a instruction manual should you need it.The shaver itself has 3 heads which are flexible this is how they create such a close shave, they adjustable to fit the contours of your face to ensure the blade gets as close to the skin as possible. The blades are super sharp so they actually cut the hair rather than just bend it or tug it as others have done in the past. This also helps reduce skin irritation too.It is very comfortable to hold and use. I also love that it comes with its own storage. It's perfect for taking it when we go on holiday or to store out of the childrens reach. We cannot recommend this enough it works well, is well made, it is fantastic quality and most importantly it does the job it's supposed to do and does it brilliantly. This is a must buy. I've been using a Philips Arcitec shaver for years, and its performance was getting worse and worse, despite changing the head at enormous cost several times, made even worse by the fact that I live in a hot humid country where dry shaving becomes a real chore owing to the sticky atmosphere and thus sticky skin! I've found the S9211 to be brilliant, not only in terms of the close shave it delivers, but the amazing difference it has made to me to be able to wet shave! I have one slight complaint, which is that the on/off switch is in the wrong place and can be accidentally pressed when the shaver is in use. You get used to it and keeping your fingers out of the way!Otherwise well worth the five-star rating I've given it! Further edit having used the shaver for some months now: continues to impress me. Still working fine. Locks and unlocks easily, no obvious reduction in shaving efficiency (which is excellent). Used many times in the shower and with foam - tends to work slightly better in the shower using soap of some sort as traditional shaving foam seems to clog it up quite quickly (but only takes a rinse to clear). Dropped it on two occasions onto a tiled floor causing the outer casing to spring open slightly but have been able to click it back together. No obvious loss of power. water-proofing etc. If used wet then the cleaner seems a little pointless but a nice gadget nevertheless!!

Been using this shaver for a few weeks and so far I am pleased with the results. The shaver is well designed and feels comfortable to use. It is very quiet and almost gives a sense that it is not fully charged however the battery meter does give an indication of battery life remaining. The charging time is minimal and after a few weeks of daily use the battery meter is still on 3 out of 3 bars. It is important that you read the manual before using this shaver with regards to how to use especially with regards to head changing (which I found fiddly for the first time, but easy once you know how to do it) and also circular shaving motions to get the great results.I use the shaver daily and the trimmer weekly both attachments give great results quickly, a close shave and a neat outcome every time. Cleaning is easy, a simple rinse under the tap of the blades is all that is required, this is again laid out step-by-step in the manual. Although I prefer a trimmer function built into the unit, the changing of heads is effortless. The only negative issue that I have experienced is that you do have to be careful with the blades as there is no head cover included with this razor. To summarise a great product which surpassed my prior expectations in all areas with the exception of a head cover which is slightly disappointing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I'm a bit of a tech geek. I have several shavers from other manufacturers as well as three other Philips rotary models. I think I have found shaver nirvana - well I'm pretty close anyway. The 9000 series gives me a very close shave - the closest to a blade wet shave even when I use it dry - which is most of the time. ALL my other shavers leave parts of my face rough where the blades can't remove the hairs very well - each shaver seems to have problems with a different area of my face. The Philips 9000, however, misses nothing. Smooth shave all over. I love the motor - it's definitely a better class of motor. You can tell when you switch it on or off - that very slight delay like a clutch kicking in before the motor starts.I may be sad, but I love that feel. It's extremely quiet too. A thoroughly classy beast - but there again it ought to be given the price! The one downside is that you have to clean the head by running it under the tap. No problem doing that, but the next day the head is still damp, however well you shake it and this means it doesn't quite glide over your face as smoothly as a bone dry shaver would. I'd say it's a small design flaw with the new style heads. It's worth buying a can of Philips shaver cleaner - unless you have the model with the cleaning tank accessory. Good to use the spray once a week to keep your shaver in tip-top condition.

The series 9000 shaver provides a surprisingly close shave, closer than any other electric shaver I have used in the past. I also have quite sensitive skin and have experienced no irritation when using the 9000 shaver. It is very user-friendly and comes with a nice travel case, as well as a precision trimmer; this is very useful for edging. However, it doesn't cut as close as the actual shaver head. As it says on the box, it works best with shorter hair 1-3 day growth. I found that if the hairs were too long, the shaver would struggle to lift and cut it.The shaver can be used as a wet or dry shaver which is very useful if you wish to shave in the shower. Personally, I prefer to use it dry.It also has a lock function, so it doesn't start up when you're traveling around. The battery lasts for a long time, also charges pretty quickly. It would be nice if the shaver came with some sort of stand to house it and the attachments.Overall it is a great electric shaver, the best I have used regarding closeness and comfort. I would not go back to traditional wet shaving with a razor as it irritates my skin, the series 9000 also cuts much closer than my other electric shaver does. I would recommend this product.
