I suffer badly from shaving rash. The Aquatouch are the most gentle I have tried while still getting a passable shave. I hope this one lasts longer than the last 2 cheaper models, broke after 18 months each, with battery problems. This time I will keep the 2 year guarantee. Shavers are throw away items now, I tried getting parts for a 5 year old top end Philips shaver with no luck. These cheaper shavers are still cheaper than using blades, though don't shave as close, so I would recommend them.

Best wet and dry shaver I have had, previously I have bought wet and dry shavers with the traditional style of old. This shaver when used as a wet shave gives a reasonable shavenot as good as a blade razor but the next best without the cost of expensive cartridge blades. I like the versatility of the independent shaving heads giving one a better shave. I wet the head between shaving so does not clog up the heads with shaving foam. Shaving time is not long but at the right price best shaver.

I bought this to replace old razor made by another known brand.This razor gives an excellent shave,quick comfortable shaving without pulling hair as my previous shaver does.I have only tried it dry up until now but I think that wet or with shaving gel it will be just as efficient and comfortable to use. I don’t have the Philips cleaning station but open the shaving head, tip out the loose shavingsand then wash under a tap is all that is required. You must then leave the head open to air dry.

Always been sceptical about electric razors as i like the smooth finish a wet shave gives with Gillette blades. However as long as you know its not going to cut the same closeness and shave every other day then it more than does the job, even trim across the face with the occasional long hair needing a blade to remove. So, unless its a key event that you need to look pristine, this razor is for you. NB used as a wet razor too, again does the job, result same as if it were a dry shave with it.

Well, it's very light in weight, you have to be careful how hard you press the blades to your face to get all the whiskas sometimes, as too hard can redden your upper lip area, and too soft means you'll miss a few. Very good attachment for sideburn trimming, personally I find it works better wet than dry. The button seems to be in the wrong place because you can turn it off by mistake when you are shaving if you don't have your hands in the right place on the shaver. A good buy for the price.

Had it a few weeks and was a little disappointed. Not as good as my old Philips! Even with brand new blades I didn’t think it was as smooth as the old shaver with it’s knackered chipped blades. However, I thought I’d do it justice and give it a few weeks but I was still not won over. Decided to do something different and went for the wet shave option. It was so much smoother than the dry shave and the results are excellent. A wet shave takes a little bit longer but the result justifies it.

My similar shaver I have had for over 4 years now and the 2nd set of blades was beginning to wear, the on/off butting kept getting stuck ON so time to replace. This was a good replacement. The hair trimmer is smaller and is fixed compared with the previous one which is larger and adjustable. HOWEVER the fitting socket is the same so I could use the old trimmer. It shaves great and serves my purpose well. It lacks the charge level of my older one only one light so no charge level indicator

The Philips Aquatouch S5050/04 Wet and Dry Electric Shaver gives a slightly closer shave than my previous Philishave, which "only" lasted 35 years. It's useful being able to use it wet and particularly good that you clean it under a running tap - none of that fiddly taking it apart and brushing it out.HOWEVER - it's quite flimsy and I can't see it lasting very long at all, even though the extended guarantee is for 3 years. But it's early days yet and I hope to be proved wrong.

Received as Christmas present from my fiancée. For me it is a delight to use. I suffer from psoriatic arthritis and when using electric shavers/ tooth brushes etc the vibrations cause me a lot of discomfort. When I first switched this on after first charge and started to use it, I thought it had not fully charged. It is so quite and the vibrations are at least 80/90% less then my old electric shaver. Nice smooth shave, easy to use and clean.Highly recommend you buy and try.

It is simpler in construction than its predecessors, which makes it appealing.Easy head removal for cleaning.BUT THIS MODEL ... - (this IS mentioned in the literature so make sure you can cope with the following:- )1) it does not operate when plugged into the mains for charging2) it only operates in battery mode3) takes about 7 hours to charge (yes 7 hours)4) Battery lasts for about 5 lots of 15 minute shavesHOWEVER:1) I like it, and would still recommend it.

Bought to replace a previous old Philips razor. The series 5000 is a vast improvement, easy to use and clean, ultra sharp blades really do shave as close as a blade, wet shaving gives best and smoothest results in little time. Can be done in under 2 mins. Wash razor under tap when finished. I’ve wet shaved with a blade and wet shaved with Philips and the the Philips get closer as it can go in more directions than a blade. Little trimmer can do side burns too. Great buy.

So, I have really sensitive skin, and had switched back to wet shaving for a while, but things were getting bad again. I just needed a good razor that I could use in the shower or with gel/foam. This fitted the bill perfectly. People have commented that it doesn’t include a travel/storage case - but that doesn’t bother me at this price point. I just wanted a decent product at a decent price, and I think Phillips has nailed it.

Great shaver - light weight, manoeuvrable, does everything it needs to do. Exactly as expected from Philips. Purchased this shaver as a birthday present for my partner (he’s a man who has everything and this was all that’s left he didn’t lol) and he absolutely loves it, he said it’s a great shaver and cuts really well with no rashes or nicks .. much closer than expected although obviously not as smooth as a wet cut, He said It’s worth buying for quickness and saves money on shaving gels and razors which are expensive

Bought this razor for my son who has very coarse facial hair. Previous razors have either struggled to remove the hair or done a very poor job. This razor cut through very quickly and easily. It lasts for quite some time between shaves and an indicator flashes to tell you when it needs cleaning. So easy to clean and can be used either wet or dry. Would highly recommend this product.
