I have always been a blade user....shaving in the shower at least once a day.I have to be presentable to the public in my job, so like to be freshly shaved for work, usually after I've cycled in.I broke the razor test down to 3 parts...pre-shower, in-shower and post-shower.First of all the razor arrived in neat suitable packaging. Most of which I was able to recycle. Not to much and not too big.The instructions were adequate, however a little simplistic. The first charge was quick and lasted a longer than I expected. Battery, top marks.Nice ergonomic design, sits in the hand comfortably and isn't too noisy. It sounds like quality...like a quality car door shutting if you know what I mean!I had a slight issue with holding the razor....Being new to using a handheld electric razor I held it for maximum control to shave. This meant my thumb was on the power button (see pic). This meant I kept turning the razor off as I shaved...not ideal. So I had to change my grip to the 'fist grip'. I personally don't feel as able to have as much control to get the razor into those tricky areas or to get that awkward hair! The 'T+' button seems pointless. Its like a vacumn cleaner with a power control setting, everyone always has it on maximum power.I understand it offers better control and so on...but who uses that? You pick up the razor, in your fist grip. Turn it on and press the T+ for maximum speed to shave....Pre-shower.I found the shave to be close, comfortable and easy. The natural oils on the skin caused the razor to drag a little when trying to dig out the awkward hair, or shave the neck, but all in all I was happy.In-shower.There just something in me just isn't happy with having an electrical item in the shower...it must go back to a childhood learning thing! The razor was fine, it gave a close shave, I wasn't electrocuted....but it didn't feel right.Maybe I would get used to it in time, but it wasn't for me. Man, naked, shower and a blade...it all so caveman like!Post shower. My favorite. I found the razor worked best in these conditions. Immediately post shower, with a fresh soft face and hairs meant the razor perform perfectly. A close shave, easy to use with no drag from the oils on the skin. Able to easily shave the neck area around the adams apple without having to go over and over an area to pick up all those different angled hairs.Cleaning was ok.Again, I'm not to happy putting it under a tap...I know, get with the real world you 80's throwback.I reverted to tapping the razor on the side of the bin to knock the hairs out. This didn't go too well and the flip top came of into the bin! It was easy enough to recover and refit it.I will use the tap in the future. All in all very happy with the razor. Firstly charging the Philips Shaver series 5000 wet and dry electric shaver with SmartClean is really quick (5 minutes) and it works a long time (1 hour) compared to other shavers I have used in the past. However the shaver comes with a European plug and therefore requires an adapter to use in the UK.When shaving you need to shave in a circular motion rather than back and forth and the 5-directional flex heads do a good job of working round facial curves. You can use shaving cream/gel or even in the shower but I didn't find that it made much difference. However it is a plus that it is has Aquatec for dry or wet technology so can be used in the shower to save time.It does take quite a long time to shave using the S5572/10,much longer than a manual razor and is not as close a shave. However it seems much safer as if there is no chance of nicking skin. Also there is no razor rash or soreness after shaving. One of the biggest benefits to the S5572/10 is the smart clean technology. The top of the shaver head flips open and the shaver head can be cleaned under the tap - which is a massive plus. There is also an electric cleaning system which comes with cleaning cartridges to give the shaver a deep clean - which is an excellent idea although it would be good if consumers could use their own detergent - I'm not sure if this is possible. The easy cleaning of the shaver is probably it's biggest positive - it's something I've always struggled with with previous shavers.Another positive of the shaver is the extra heads - there is an attachment included in the S5572/10 which I think is only for sideburns/beard edges - however it's quite awkward to switch between attachments due to the shaver head flipping open to be cleaned really easily when trying to unclick it from the shaver unit. There's also a facial exfoliating head available to buy.So the pros of the S5572/10 are that its really quick to charge, really easy to clean, comfortable while and after shaving, extra attachments available, can be used wet and dry.The cons are no uk plug (at least on my unit), takes a while to shave, not a close shave (although comparable to previously used electric shavers). In conclusion I would recommend this shaver especially for the SmartClean technology. I have had an older Philips Shaver for 14 years! It has worked extremely well. The blades have been changed when necessary. The battery was beginning to fail, so I thought I would invest in a new one.I wanted to get another Philips in view of my great experience with the former shaver. The multi-directional heads really appealed.I like this shaver a lot for the following reasons:1. The multi-directional floating heads.2. It's a lot quieter than my previous shaver.3. Easy to clean.4. Fast charging.5. It gives a good shave providing you take your time.Things I'm not so keen on:1. No case supplied - I had to buy one.2. The need to detach the shaving head so as to attach the sideburn trimmer - the older shaver has a built in trimmer that flips up when required.I have kept the old one to use for that feature.3. On the older shaver there is a greater number of cutting teeth on the blades - there is noticeably less on the new shaver's blades. Likely a cost cutting measure.Final notes: As a result of the last comment about the cutting blades I do find that I need to be patient and not rush the shaving process to get a good result. However, it is a good result. If you are short of time, then a quick "wizz" will be sufficient but likely you would need to shave again in the evening if going somewhere. Also, I find I have to use the shaver differently to the way I used my previous Philips. This isn't really a criticism. Initially I found that I didn't get a good result as I was using the shaver the same way as the older one. However, when I adjusted my technique and didn't rush - much along the lines of the recommendations in the manual, which, by the way, is a bit lacking in detail and explanation, I found my shave improved.Despite those comments I still recommend this shaver.

I have found that the product provides a very close shave without any discomfort or irritation. This is a key consideration of mine when deciding to purchase a shaver. I did however notice a slight pull on my facial hair a couple of times, not significant enough to affect my view of the product and something I believe would probably not have happened would I have used the turbo mode. The movement of the head and three individual shavers is fantastic which allows you to get into the hard to reach places i.e around the chin and along the jaw line. The trimmer also work very effectively and allows you to trim with precision as it is quite small and well designed. The battery life is outstanding, the last thing I want to do is charge the product everyday. With this product you certainly would not have to. Cleaning the product is also very easy and takes next to no time, a real time saver. As the instructions do state not to dry with any materials I find myself having to leave the head open to dry properly, increasing the risk of it being damaged/snapped accidentally. The design itself is great and it is a very light product. I do however find that the head is not as easy to slot back into place, over time this could damage the mechanism in my opinion. It would also be great if there was a clip on holder for the product so that it can be mounted on the bathroom wall. Overall I would buy this product and would strongly recommend that anyone who requires a close shave especially those with sensitive skin should buy it. I used to have a Philips rotary shaver and changed it many years ago for a linear one. However, I found that the razor I had kept missing parts of my beard and leaving occasional long ones, which ere difficult to remove.I had seen a lot of new razors with rotating heads offset from the main shaver. After a lot of on line research I decided to buy a 5000 series shaver. At first I found it a different grip from the shaver I had been using for some 30 years, but soon got used to the recommended rotating action and the pistol type of grip.I was also concerned about the battery life, but it seems to be holding up the same as other razors and therefore is not a problem.I do not like th option to wash it under the tap,as it takes a long time to dry off and does not shave very well when wet. I have no desire to go to shaving with soap any more.It is a pity that it does not come with a brush for clearing out he heads and I had to buy a case in which to put it for travelling.I have not used the clearning facility yet as I have not had it for a month yet and I see no point in cleaning more frequently. This is based on experience with other shavers with a clearning function.I am pleased that it appears to give a closer shave than ony other razor I have had and does not leave any long hairs to have to tackle on an individual basis.Overall I am very pleased with it and trust it will last a long time. I have only given four stars because I have only been using it for three weeks, but the experience to date has been excellent, I hope it continues to please.

This is only my second electric shaver, but this is by far the best I have used. I found that it cuts hair much more efficiently than my previous one (even when new) and the fact that the precision trimmer was included has negated the need for a standard razor to straighten up my side burns. If you have the additional 'head' to hand it probably takes less than thirty seconds to change. As previously mentioned it cuts hair much more efficiently this is probably down to the fact that this razor has three free moving heads or as Philips calls it 5 direction flex heads instead of been fixed in some way. It cuts really close to the skin with no irritation, nicks or cuts when shaving wet or dry.I have noticed it charges really quickly unless using the Smart Clean 'dock' cleaning, drying and lubricating function as this will requires a small amount of additional time. The battery life is also very good. Another bonus is how quite it is, but this is probably not something you would think about or would base you purchase on.I didn't receive any instructions on how to use the Smart Clean 'dock', but this is fairly straight forward and there are plenty of videos available online to aid in using this 'dock'. With the Smart Clean 'dock' not been very portable I would have thought Philips would have finally included a normal UK Mains Three Pin Plug (equivalent for when distributed in other countries) for this, but included is the standard Two Pin Shaver Plug so an adapter will be need. The first thing I noticed about this shaver is just how quietly it operates. There is none of the usual shaver ‘buzz’ like you would expect. My initial shave after a full charge overnight was on about 4 days growth. This was done dry and using a circular motion provided a clean and close cut with little irritation at no nicks at all.The turbo function is particularly useful for getting through problem areas after a few days growth and found it was really effective on the problem area under my neck.I found that the most effective shave was when using in the shower with gel, which gives the best of both worlds in regard to electric shavers and a manual razor. The clipper attachment it handy forkeeping sideburns in check and the mechanism to switch between heads is a simple click.Th Smartclean function is effective and found the head to be completely clear after every clean. It also functions as quietly as the shaver when operation. I did find that it is quite easy to spill the solution when setting up so make sure the surface you use is completely flat. The only negative I found of the shaver as a whole was the placement of the power button, this may be down to the way I hold the shaver but found I was turning it off during use. A redesign of this might be a thought.Overall, I am happy to use this shaver on a daily basis due to its close cut and the low irritation is causes. I was doubtful when this shaver said it doesn't cut or pull hair, to which I was plesently surprised. To start with. The ergonomics of the shaver are perfect, balanced in the hand and has a nice thick handle to hold onto too. It's nice and light which make it easier to move in small circles as guided. The colour is a nice dark blue and black which looks modern and stylish. The cutting of hair itself is the best I've ever had. It's so smooth across the skin and you can't feel it at all, no pulling, no tugging or nicking or cutting. It glides across the hair effortlessly and cuts very close to the skin leaving a smooth finish. It does struggle around the neck area which I find I need to spend a little more time on.But doesn't leave long hairs. I used to get red rashes and irritated skin with my old shaver, but I haven't had this once using the Phillips 5000 shaver. My skin is calm, normal colour and no longer irritated after shaving. This has prevented spots appearing around my neck also. Once used a few times the charging and cleaning dock is great. Only a couple of hours to charge and the cleaning hub is so quiet, no more clogging up of the blades. In all I would recomend this product to anyone who finds their shavers irritate their skin, pull hairs and cut them. Defiantly worth it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Have to say, I was switching from a different brand to Philips due to the amount of hair/skin nipping my old razor used to do. Not only this but with constant friction burn I found myself with rashes and marks on my face and neck a lot, so with this is was time to change. I have been using this shaver for about a month and half now With the three separate razor parts on the head it makes the shave incredibly quick, especially if you are rushing out of the house like me in the mornings. The shave was always close and left my skin feeling soft which was something I absolutely love, much better than my previous shaver. I also travel a lot of business and this razor includes a cap for the head when travelling rather than a full case, for short over night trips this was perfect The beard trimmer part had a good selection of different beard lengths that suited my preference of a shorter neater beard. To take one top off and put another one on was incredibly simple and easy, top point for design. There was only one negative, and this is a personal preference. I sometimes like to grow a stubble or bit more and create a jaw line, just shaving on my neck then. This razor doesnt claim to be good for precision shaving and rightly so it isn't. But if you are covering a wide ground it is great. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Before I speak about the details of the product I would like to just say one thing; When I shave usually, I am left with red marks on my neck where it feels irritable and sore.. I can say that whilst using this product the pain is completely reduced to almost nothing. There is no red marks on my neck/face and the shaved area feels super smooth! You can tell from the moment you open the box that this product has been designed with ergonomics and ease of use as a main priority. The shaver itself fits nicely into the hand and is comfortable to use throughout the whole shaving process. The standard head that it comes with is incredible, it left my face silky smooth and only took around 3/4 minutes to do so.To get the level of results that was achieved would have taken double the time with my previous shaver. Cleaning the standard attachment is also a dream, I feel that maybe a small brush could have been provided just to get rid of some of the remaining small hairs ( also on the trimmer attachment ) Charge time is great and the visual display showing how much charge remains is easy to understand which I like! Sound: The shaver is quiet and only increases in volume slightly when using turbo mode.Overall I would ( and have ) reccommend this to my friends/peers/family as a brilliant shaver. I got this razor to replace an older electric shaver and I've not been disappointed. With this shaver, I've been able to get a very close shave with little effort and find the charge lasts a considerable amount of time. It's also very easy to clean with the shaver head being detachable. It does have an indicator showing how fully charged this shaver is which is really useful. With my old shaver, I've always found it difficult achieving a close shave under my chin, but with the boost feature to get a better shave, this has made it just as easy as shaving other parts of my face. The shaver was very easy set up and quick to full charge. Also, the 'smart click'feature to change attachments makes it very easy to change them with minimal effort. The trimmer provided attachment is very handy in trimming my beard, and I think I'll probably invest in a few other attachments.Just a shame doesn't come with a travel bag. The only other negative is the placement of the boost button, which I keep pressing when I've intended to press the on/off button. But perhaps this is more something that I need to get used to rather than it being an issue with the product.Overall highly recommend this product for anyone who wants a close shave with little effort/time. I've used Philips / Philishave electric shavers for the last 16 years as I always found wet shaving to be a bit time consuming and too much of an effort! This series 5000 is a long way removed from my previous models, in that it's very comfortable to hold and more importantly, doesn't seem to leave my face feeling dried out or sore from friction. It's a very comfortable shave and does a great job. The head and the cutters themselves all flex nicely and move with the contours of your face providing a good close shave. There is a turbo button on the shaver, which is useful for tougher stubble around the chin etc. My only criticism with this shaver is the trimmer part (for sideburns etc)which doesn't seem to perform as well as my old models. The interchangeable heads are a good idea though and I was intrigued by the various accessories on offer. The smart clean system is good, it really does give the shaver a proper clean out and leaves it smelling fresh. Handy for me as I always used to put off cleaning my shaver as it was a pain to do! I would have liked it if the cleaning system could have had a heater to dry off the heads once done, but it's no great issue to remove it from the cleaner and pop the top to let it air dry as it doesn't take long. I used to use a cheap Philips shaver with three blades and I always had issues with the shaver missing hairs even when they were quite long and standing up, requiring many many passovers and resulting in irritating skin. However, when I got this shaver it has been a huge improvement. Firstly, it travels over the skin very smoothly and cuts hair relatively easily. There is a great turbo function makes the blades spin faster to help get through thicker hair. Secondly, it comes with a detachable trimmer. This has been kind of useful but I would find it more useful if it came with the plastic head which allows a certain distance between it and the skin, but sadly this is sold separately. Thirdly, the reason why it is not perfect is that I still struggle a bit to catch hairs when travelling over the contours of my neck. It is a huge improvement on my old shaver and it certainly does the job but it can still take lots of time to pick up all the hairs. It is not quite a wet shave but it is nonetheless quite quick and easy to use. Finally, the battery is great. I've been using it for weeks without charging, and it is very easy to clean as you just pop the lid and give it a rinse. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This shaver is an upgrade over my previous philips shaver and there is a clear improvement overall. It gives the closest shave i have ever had from an electric shaver, still leaving my skin smooth and irritation free, an issue i have previously suffered with. The unit is also a lot quieter than my previous one. As far as charging is concerned, i am still on the initial charge 3 weeks later, but the battery indicator on the front is now showing i'm on the last bar. It shaves just as well on a 3 day stubble as a 1 day stubble, i am yet to try it on anything longer. Even so, the added trimmer attachment comes in very handy to trim a beard left a bit longer, and to tidy up the moustache and sideburns.Turbo mode is also a great feature giving that extra boost on a longer or thicker stubble.Maintenance is simple with both heads being detachable and washable, or even still in situ as its a wet/dry shaver. The only negatives i can find are not so much with the product, but with whats not included in the price. A travel pouch would have been nice, and the inclusion of a shaver plug to uk plug adaptor. apart from that i can not fault this excellent shaver. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I have now been using the Philips Vacuum Beard Trimmer for around 2 months and have been mightily impressed so far. Having grown tired of the mess that was created whilst using my previous beard trimmer, I was intrigued to see how the vacuum aspect would perform. Upon un-boxing the trimmer I was impressed with both the stylish design and feel in the hand. First setting up the razor was simple, and getting accustomed to the components was also straight forward with the information and instructions provided. The first time I used the trimmer I was very impressed with the performance, the overall trim was brilliant and the battery performance to date has been fantastic. The vacuum works very well, and there has been a drastic reduction in hairs around my sink and bathroom! Cleaning the beard trimmer after use is also easy given that the razor and the top component can be removed and washed. The only suggestion I would make would be a slightly different shaped brush (in addition to the one provided) to remove the hairs in the bottom of the vacuum chamber after use. Overall I have been very impressed with the Philips Vacuum Beard Trimmer and would definitely recommend it.
