This is to add to JC's review of April 5, 2015, that was excellent but I needed to have two flaps for both inside and outside walls for the cat door to the garage. My wall has 2 x 6 framing (51/2") plus 1" for drywall (1/2" drywall) for inside and out for total of 61/2". I wanted a two flap entry for both inside and out to reduce the draft and be more energy efficient. Based on JC's comments I determined that I needed two Cat Mate Locking Cat Flap packages plus 3 liners. The question that I needed to answer was: Does the frame with the flap join easily with the wall liners for both inside and out? The answer is NO. However, the outside frame does fit up with the wall liners and the second frame with a flat can easily fit over top with the outside frame without the flap. To describe in detail what I have built from inside to outside: 1 Cat Mate frame with flap, 3 wall liners, 1 Cat Mate frame with out the flap, and 1 Cat Mate frame with flap that is placed on top to the one frame without the flap. You will need to secure the two frames to the wall with 1.5 in screws. Instead of gluing the liners, I used foil duct tape after I extended the 3 liners to 6.5 in. Hope this helps.

Besides the fact that we have to prop it open for the cat (she refuses to go through it open unless she's IN the laundry room and needs to get OUT), this has worked perfectly. We put this in the wall between our family room and laundry room in order for her to access the litter box. Most cats would be able to open the door, but I have a calico who only does what SHE wants, and that is NOT going through a cat door.NOTE: I do recommend that you measure the depth of your wall to make sure you don't need this extra piece that fits between the two walls. Our wall is is thinner than most, and we needed a 1/4 inch extra, even with this piece to fit between the two (we filled it in with white duct tape, but I do not recommend this option. I am too cheap to order another extra piece).Pros: looks so much nicer and easier to clean than white duct tapeCons: extra money for 1/4 inch

I bought these liners along with a new Cat Mate door to install in a new wall next to my patio door. My cats LOVE the outdoors, but can't be trusted not to run away. I added a cat playpen outdoors and a cat door using this liner to go through the wall to the pen on my deck. The cats love it, the door doesn't allow drafts or moisture to come inside, and the liner ensures that the opening is sealed and insulated. Of course, the liner also protects the cats when they move back and forth through the space. I used two of these to go through a standard exterior wall. I definitely recommend using them when installing the pet door through a thicker wall or door...who wants an open gap where the cat can injure themselves?

I used this to create a pass-through in a sheet rock wall built on 2x4 studs. It did mate up with the Cat Mate Lockable Cat Flap very well, but was not quite wide/long enough to fill the entire gap with it fully seated in the Cat Flap. I made it work by super gluing the wall liner to the Cat Flap with it just partially inserted. That allowed me to have both sides of the Cat Flap engaged with the liner without having a visible gap inside the wall space. My cat does use the door, but we are currently propping the flap open as she doesn't yet seem to want to push it open with her nose. I am assuming she will eventually get it.

I ordered this liner in combination with two 4-way locking cat door (see my review for the cat door here: https://www.amazon.com/review/R3KN5JFY1UDXJJ ).It works great, snaps right into place.I wish there was an option to purchase a telescopic adjustable liner, that extends to the size of perhaps two liners? I wouldn't mind paying more.Since I am installing the cat doors in the wall and not any doors, I will need to order a few more. I only ordered one so far to see how well they are mad, etc. I am very impressed. the doors and the liner are made of durable plastic that will last for a while, even with my gang of four.

My cats are not thrilled with their new door, but I am. :) - This solved a 3-year old problem and gave me back a whole room in my house that was devoted to cat boxes. Hubbie installed this very easily (and no, he's not a professional) and it works perfectly. We put it in an interior wall that leads to the basement stairs. This allowed us to move cat boxes below decks without having to have the basement door open constantly - saving heat and in our case, adding safety. The cats are lazy, but they do use it without any problem.

These work well, but I wasn't sure why the actual cat mate door isn't sold on Amazon. I had to order 3 liners to fit inside our wall between the garage and dining room, and it is a standard wall about 6-7 inches wide. Be sure to measure and get the right amount or you'll delay your install, like ours! We eventually got the door in and were able to train our cat to use it and keep the litter box in the garage. I am very happy with it now!

Worked well for installing with petsafe 2 way cat door. A little long for my 1 3/4 inch door, but it's ok for now, I may trim it later. Very sturdy, durable and thick. It came with just one in the package, I thought the lines on it would be so you could change the size but I guess they are just invention indicators if you need to cut it or something. Happy and would buy again. Used in a door so had plenty but check your depths.

Great item-but we found it was not required after all-so selling on a well-known auction site as this would cost over half what I paid to send it back with Amazon-which is rubbish-!! **Be warned** tho'-no way could you cut this (or the matching cat flap) with a Stanley knife as shown on instructions-!!-it is way too thick-and you could severely injure yourself-!!-we ended up using a hacksaw/saw blade-and it was tough enough-!!

Purchased several of these to go with the Cat Mate doors. They make the space that sometimes exists in wider walls clean looking and finished. My cat did not like the void before and I tried to make my own tube. These are worth the money to have a professional look. They fit perfectly and are easy to install. I have used them for three different cat doors and have never had a problem with any of them. Would highly recommend.

I bought 2 along with the cat mate door with flap and it worked great. The only downside was that we needed to cute one of the layers off to make it fit through the wall, and although the instructions say they can be cut with a sharp knife, you really need a pipe saw or something like it. Our knife was no where near being able to cut though the plastic. But we got it done and it works great!

Easy to fit. Pity did not come in Brown or did I miss that option! Needed to buy the wall gap filler as I did not check when I bought the cat flap how thick the door panel was! Very easy to cut but do measure twice before cutting. I did have to buy long screws as I did not want to cut a bigger hole and fit a wooden lining. A bit of a game aligning the holes. Very pleased as are Ragdoll cats.

We installed a cat door through an exterior wall. These extenders worked beautifully. The wall thickness was 5.25” and 2 extenders were needed. They were easily trimmed with a pair of tin snips to fit snuggly. I’m very happy with this purchased and as it was an add on I’m thankful to the other reviews that recommended getting 2 for the thickness of my wall.

Newer construction all across the US has thicker exterior walls. They use 2x6 studs in order to fit more insulation. We got this liner extension to be able to run a cat door from inside our house into the garage and it worked perfectly. If we had to go through an exterior wall that had siding on the outside, we would have probably needed another extender.

This worked out okay, just wished it came in longer lengths. Had to buy two, and it still wasn't quite long enough for exterior through brick wall. Three probably would've worked. I just ended up using spray foam in a can for the rest of the length I needed. I waited for the Foam to dry and then cut out to form the tunnel. Worked out great.
