Purchased this large cat flap for our West highland Terrier, self fitted into a newly ordered double glazed unit, works like a charm. Our 6 month old westie uses it fine, alongside our parents fully grown westies. I was concerned it would be too small for when ours got older, but seeing folks fit eased my mind.I personally worked for a glass manufacturer/wholesaler in the past so ordering replacement double glazed units based on customers dimensions used to be a common occurrence. It had also given me a fair amount of knowledge on how windows are glazed given common customer queries. This was the first time I'd ever popped a unit out and measured myself though. Most uPVC Windows are virtually straight forward to reglaze.Popped the internal beads out with a couple of flat headed screw drivers. Measured like for like replacement, knocking 2mm off the existing units sizes (most glass manufacturers work to a 1-2mm tolerance, I didn't want it any bigger), marked the glass where I wanted the centre of the hole to be, then with the beads popped off (the DGU virtually stays in place until you push it through from the rear allowing this) you can measure from the bottom of the glass to either bottom or centre of hole to give the location and diameter or radius of hole respectively to the fabricators.Cat flap fit the given hole size perfectly. Most awkward thing was cutting the oversized screws down to suit the unit. Fit the flap to the uninstalled glass unit, marked the screws, took it apart and sawed them down, then refit the flap to the unit, and popped it in the window frame snapping the beads back in place. Results are a great fitted Cat flap which works for us and our dog.The lock is a bit of a joke really. I mean, it's handy if you want to stop animals coming or going sure, but a person could easily unlock it from the outside. If you're looking to DIY it, it's fairly straight forward. Plug and play. Just be sure to be spot on with your measurements for the replacement DGU, as it would be quite expensive to order twice if you get it wrong. Although probably still cheaper or similar price to having it done for you even if you did fluff up.

I've just replaced my original Cat Mate flap which worked perfectly for ten years. The new one is a near-identical product, slightly updated but a straight swap to fit. PLEASE NOTE: this manufacturer makes several different types; the 210W is for glass doors, the 235W is suitable for non-glass doors...Getting the flap installed initially was tricky. It took the double-glazing company three attempts to successfully cut the correct hole in the glass door without damaging the glass - so do be aware that you'll probably need professional help to get the glass cut in the first place. Thereafter, fitting the catflap itself was really simple, although it does help if there are two people, one for each side of the door (otherwise you need to be in two places at once, using three hands...)In the 10 years that the Cat Mate was in use, our tomcats regularly fought other cats through it; standing on opposite sides of the flap and battering away at each other by hitting the flap back and forth. Frankly, I'm amazed it stood up to this treatment for so long. After eight years it lost the insulating strip (which didn't seem to make a whole lot of difference, to be honest), and finally the hinge-fitting expired this summer. Amazingly robust, especially considering the low cost.Very happy with it, hence replacing the original Cat Mate with an identical one. And will probably buy a spare and stick it on a shelf, in case the company stops making them... because we did try an alternative make from a local shop, but it wouldn't fit the hole in our door! Very relieved to find the Cat Mate still available online. The only downside to the flap is that our incredibly dim female cat still doesn't understand how to use it. She watches the tomcat go through: she mews for us to open the door so she can follow him. If only the catflap came with instructions that a cat could comprehend...9/10

Most cats regard the cat flap with contempt and disdain. It's the tradesmen's entrance of the feline world. Their preference is for us to hold the front door open while they deliberate whether to stay in or go out. If it's IN, you'll be expected to show your gratitude for the pleasure of their company with a treat; if it's OUT, then the chances are he or she will be howling to be let back in within two minutes and again expect a treat. Either way, your cats is in a win-win situation. However, the Rosewood 4-way Glass Fitting Catmat Door let's you show your cat who's boss (who am I kidding?). It's got a 4-way locking system - ideal for keeping out the neighbourhood cat and keeping yours safe atnight - which is brilliant.Easy to install but word of caution: you need to have a circular hole professionally cut into the glass; also best installed with two people either side of the door (just one not two each side!) to position the screws as they need to be carefully aligned. Husband and I managed it and it's slightly out of kilter but the cats don't mind.PS: I hadn't hear of Rosewood before, but the cat flap I bought was an exact replacement for my CatMate that had lasted 10 years. The In/Out switches worked differently but not a problem.Great product, easy to fit, terrific value and amazing delivery service yet again from Amazon. And so say Oscar, Samantha, Muffin, Pipsqueak and Wilfred.

I had one of these installed in a new uPVC door some twenty years ago. Eventually the transparent flap broke; you can't repair it with ANY glue - or only for a day or two anyway. Should have looked on Amazon first, there are spare flaps listed. Bought a replacement from a local pet store and it was total ****. Only then did I look on Amazon. Compared with the other product this shows vastly superior design:The screws install from the insideIt has a weather-seal with a small gap at the bottom to let water OUT if any does get inThe flap is in the plane of the outside of the door - nowhere for snow to ledge in bad wintersThe telescopic tunnel doesn't need sawing to length and has rounded edges -can't scratch the catThe only improvement desirable for the single DIY man would be for the flap NOT to be installed in the outer cover as you receive it - would make it altogether easier to assemble into place on your own but I can see why they did it even so. Only visible change in twenty years has been to mould in "In only" and "Out only" legends beside the slide locks on the inner cover

No problem whatsover with the flap and installation, it was exactly what we expected. We do have a problem with the cat though. After 18 years of complaining about a door, the forced time at home this year led us to order a new one. The door has a big glass panel which we ordered complete with a hole for the cat flap (be warned if you take this route, the hole will cost nearly as much as the glass!). The idea was to let light in the house and the cat in and out.Door arrived, we installed the cat flap, feeling really pleased with ourselves that the job that had been outstanding for 18 years was finally done. But, he cat refuses to use the flap. We're not sure whether it's the fact it's in a glass door or if it's the magnet on the flap that puts her off. Maybe she just doesn't like change. Either way she's having accidents in the house and sits and waits until a passing human opens the door for her.No amount of coaxing or tempting her will encourage her to use it. She's even glaring at me as I type this!

This is a good sturdy product which does exactly what it says on the box. Provided it is used exclusively for cats, it will, I am sure, last for many years, unlike my last one which lasted only 6 months. You see, next door's cat used to come into our garden regularly, which would really wind up our medium sized terrier cross. The cat knew it was safe because the dog was the other side of the patio doors. One day in March, the dog could stand it no longer and ran from the lounge into the kitchen, where he dived through the Cat-Mate without even slowing down. Because he is twice the size of our cat, he took the cat-flap with him and ran down the garden chasing after next door's cat wearing the Cat-Mate round his neck like a collar. We are now on our second one,and fortunately the cat next door has not ventured into our garden since.

It is good. I bought it to replace the one the cat broke. Then I found that you could buy just the door on Amazon so returned it... too late to cancel my order. So if your cat smashes the door you can by a replacement one. Mine was fine for 20 years so good that these complete assemblies are still sold and even the replacement door to it. The magnet that stopped the wind from swing the door fell out about 14 years ago and my cats would sometimes have a cat fight and claw the lock closed shutting themselves in or out. If you aren't planning on using the locking mechanism you could glue it if worried (green / red sliding tab) - although for a new kitten you would need to be able to lock it.Mine is pretty stiff now so highly unlikely it would get shifted and I don't lock it these days.

We had a cat, lets call him Pickle (it was his name after all), who was densely evil (you cat worshippers will probably get what I mean) and so instead of using the cat flap in a normal manner would headbutt it until it broke! The hunt for a new cat flap was on! All the others we looked at were either way too expensive or the wrong shape for the hole that was already in the door. The Cat Mate cat flap turned out to be just what we were looking for, inexpensive yet strong and with the added bonus of 4 way locking. Would recommend getting one if you're looking for a replacement cat flap. As for Pickle, he weed once too often on the furniture and is now living with a harem of other cats, probably plotting world domination as we speak!

Very pleased with this item. We wanted it to be fitted to a small, single glazed window (can be used for a double glazed window too), so took the window off and took it to the glaziers for them to cut the hole in the glass and they did so, using the template provided and they fitted the cat flap with no extra charge! Works really well and it's handy to be able to slide the sliders, to keep cats in or out, as required. Def can't be set to let your moggie in while keeping strangers out though! We're 100 per cent satisfied both with the product and delivery, which, in our case, was to France. It's keeping our house cozy with not having to either leave the window propped open,or keep having to open the door to let our cats in or out!

Our previous Cate Mate had been in use for over ten years. We had to replace it because the 'in' and 'out' sliders had become loose and the cat would accidentally lock herself in or out. The sliders on the new version have a locking mechanism, so they should not move accidentally. One slider is a bit difficult to use and occasionally reqires both hands to operate. As such someone with weak or painful hands could well find that they could not move it. The flap is quiet in operation and is crystal clear, not opaque, as can be the case with other manufacturers. The cat is able to look through the flap to ensure it is safe to go out. She certainly likes it!I would recommend it but have scored it down because of the difficult slider.

One of my cats had worked out how to ‘escape’ through the cat flap and could open it herself. So I needed something a bit different but as I already had a hole in the door really wanted something the same but better, and I found it. My old cat flap was many years old but I was lucky enough to find the upto date version by the maker of the same cat flap, the difference being that the lockable element is stronger and more cat proof. Bonus was the dimensions were the same so I was able to remove the old cat flap and put the new one in its place. Thank you Cat Mate, I imagine you had listened to people and this second version is what you came up with, well done. Very pleased, and now my cat is wondering why she can’t get out !

There is more than one model of this cat-flap. Make sure you get the right one for your door. This model, the 210, is actually for fitting to glass but I bought it for my conservatory door, which has a thin lower panel more suited to a glass-fitting cat-flap than a thicker, door-fitting cat-flap. It fits really well too. This is a decent cat-flap and I can find no problems with it at all. Assuming you already have the hole in the door or glass, fitting is a five minute job and needs only a screwdriver. The cat flap can be set to in only, out only, in and out or no access either way, which is what they mean by "4 way". It looks neat and tidy and my cat has no problem using it.

Bought this to replace a smaller cat flap from same company due to the fact we have a fat cat and was struggling to get in and out, know it will last just hope he don't get any bigger.... in our old house we had two of the smaller ones fitted and they lasted well over 10 years and were left behind when we moved... you can't go wrong with Cat Mate products first class.Edit: had a slight problem glazier arrived with new double glazed unit and they had fitted the cat flap, unfortunately there was a massive scratch across the flap contacted Cat Mate "we can replace that free under guarantee" it arrived the next day what fantastic service from catmate

We had this cat flap for a number of years and it was in constant use by our cats. We have only purchsed another one because we have a rather silly puppy who didn't realise he had grown too big to get out of the flap, got stuck, and we had to break the flap off to get him out. New flap now in place, working perfectly, cats happy again and the pup has learned his lesson. This product can be set so once inside the cats cannot get out or once out they cannot get in if desired. Handy at night. I know once they come in the house they cannot get out again until I let them out in the morning. Pup cannot work out why they can still use it and he can't!
