What a terrific camera. I don't know how I managed without WiFi before. I assumed the WiFi was to copy photos to the cloud (which it does) but you can also copy single or multiple photos to any PC on the network. I use this to back up the photos I want to keep. So much easier than removing the SD Card from the camera and pushing it into the PC. The best thing though, is that the camera can be a hotspot. Set it into Hotspot mode and log your mobile phone onto it rather than your home network. Don't worry, the phone will revert to the previous network when you close the camera. You need to install a Panasonic App, "Image App", available for Android and iPhone. Once the phone is connected to the camera's SSID,run the app on your phone and be prepared to be blown away! The phone becomes a remote control for the camera, no need for the camera's timer any more. You get the camera's view on your phone, you can change most settings from your phone e.g. zoom, flash mode etc. Other than remote control, the app allows you to copy files from the camera to the phone thus you can be out and about and with very little effort take some photos and email them to your friends. Obviously you must email set up on your phone! The app provides basic image editing including creating a collage from selected photos. I like this facility. The camera does 4K in both stills and video but I haven't tried that yet. What I have tried it taking panorama shots. Set it tp panorama mode and press the shutter as you swivel round. I horizontal line on the screen tells you whether you are going straight. It won't let you go crooked, it says Do it again or some such. The resultant picture is truly amazing. I've produced panorama shots before but it always involved loading several images into e.g. Photoshop Elements and producing the panoramic image from there. This little gem does it all for you. Final Note: I don't usually do reviews on Amazon, but this camera is such fun (as Miranda's mum would say) that I just HAD to put pen to paper as it were. Thanks for listening. Morris aged 65 and a quarter.

I bought this from a local shop; my trusty three year old TZ70 stopped reading SD cards and I was told it was £80 and over 4 weeks just to send it for repair. With a six week holiday in three weeks time; my options were limited. I paid a decent price for it and have sent the TZ70 for repair for FREE (just paid postage); now I thought I'd just get a refund on the TZ80 (if the repair cost for the TZ70 isn't too high) however...I've been using it very carefully a fair bit and it's really got under my skin. I liked a TZ70 an awful lot and didn't experience the poor quality photos some speak of; but the touch screen and 4K photo functions are brilliant and I feel 4K is the future of photography. You can easily grab a high quality frame from it and use it as a photo; great as movies are hard to work with.I'm not so sold on the menu layout; it's just a bit non intuitive compared to the TZ70 and one feature I miss; the special picture modes (e.g. Expressive or Sepia) have to be selected BEFORE you take a shot - one fun feature of the TZ70 was playing with modes on a photo to see which once worked best. I've contacted Panasonic about this and they have confirmed this is the case.I got black on this TZ80, silver on the TZ70 - the silver looks a bit more retro and higher quality but black looks more modern.I found I often accidentally pressed "on" as I took my TZ70 out of the case, making the lens extend while still in it; not good but it never failed. This hasn't yet happened on the TZ80 so maybe that's a small improvement. It focusses and locks quicker than the TZ70 and processes the photos more quickly. I'be tried photos under many conditions and all have come out well bar one blurry "cliff jump" photo in iA mode - 4K burst was far better.Overall I am pleased with this camera and as long as the wife lets me (!), I will hang onto it and try and sell the TZ70 which is unmarked - a testament to the TZ series build quality.

I needed a camera that can take shots quickly without fuss in "day out" mode, and in normal iA mode it is the best all round I have tried. I also need a camera for technical pictures, close up with good depth of field, often in poor light. This camera delivers on this front too, and so far the resolution is still greater than I need. The 4K mode and the post focus mode is great if you are set up to take a photo, but you have to wait for the recording on the card to catch up (the reason for using the fastest SD cards you can). I am not well practised enough to go in and out of these modes quickly, but the function buttons may help. Great zoom, made very usable with the image stabilisation.Artistic modes also require practice to select quickly to use on the fly, I have used some under controlled conditions, and found them to be comparable, and even better than what I can do in software. The viewfinder could do with being a bit bigger, even sticking out a few mm further would help. I usually use my left eye, but even with my right (I am working on using this eye all the time to accommodate the camera) an eye cap would help. The sensor to change from screen to viewfinder works too far away from the camera and the screen goes off when you don't always want it to. If you use a strap round your neck from each side of the camera, then the screen touches you chest and sometimes changes mode on you, as well as bleeping annoyingly. A sensor disabling the screen functions until you grip the camera would solve this. The start up is very quick and welcome, there are cameras that start quickly but are not able to immediately take a photo as this can. Build quality is good, but the lens is vulnerable, even at wide angle, watch it at full zoom! Also I am concerned about water and dirt ingress, it is the one thing I would like to see better protection for.

Bought this to replace the need to carry about camera bodies and lenses while on holiday. I still have a SLR for use at home as well as my TZ80 . It slips into my handbag and takes brilliant shots . I like some of the choices in the scene and artistsic button choices. I particularly like the one point colour which is brilliant for strong coloured flowers as they show up so well against the darker background. There are some occasional issues with the touch screen being a bit "touchy" itself as it can change when you did not want the settings changed. Reasonable zoom but pictures are a bit grainy at full zoom. Useful for me to identify birds at distance. Not sure about comment about dust getting in .I bought the leather case to protect the screen and lens.Have not got to grips with 4k yet but you need to spend time using the camera to get to grips with what it can do and what suits your photo style. It is not simply a point and shoot. Video is brilliant as I used inside at our holiday hotel in bad lighting . I think if you are a man with large fingers it might be a bit fiddly for some.I still have a lot to learn with this camera but like most of my results so far.

Needed to update my 4/5 year old similar camera (from different manufacturer), was particularly keen to get viewfinder as composing/focussing shot on rear screen (only) is not precise (especially in bright sun light). The DMC-TZ80EB with viewfinder covers that. I like the 'spirit level' display feature, which further aids composition of shots. And like that you can actually see and or adjust the basic components of photography (shutter speed, f-stop, and ISO) or use automatic modes. I've only had the camera for 3 weeks, it was bought especially for a significant travel holiday, where I had good opportunity to use it. I've not yet explored all/most features in the time I've had it. I'm an ex SLR user, but find them too bulky for use under many circumstances, but also prefer 'real' camera to using mobile phone camera. I neither find the camera 'simple to operate', nor 'complicated to operate'. I find most technical products overloaded with features which would never/rarely be used, but try to 'cut through' that and build a decent understanding of the main aspects of the device.

I wanted a compact camera with a reasonable amount of features and a zoom lens. I already have a DSLR which I found a bit bulky just to carry around every day whilst out walking and I also have a compact with just a screen, but I wanted a compact with a viewfinder and such compacts are a bit rare. As I mostly shoot out of doors, when using a screen I found difficult on sunny days and ended up only seeing a mirror image of myself. The EVF helps especially capturing birds in flight. As I am basically an amateur I am not versed in all the technicalities of lenses etc but as far as I'm concerned the TZ80 takes really good pictures.I like that there all lots of options in scene and creative modes; I like the monotone and selective colour options (not really sure what 'toy' and 'miniature' are about). I have yet to figure out 4k and I haven't tried out video yet. In order to keep the camera safe from damage etc. I bought a case and, with the case, all fits in my jacket pocket. Actually, for my needs, the TZ80 serves just as well as my DSLR.

I have owned a lumix TZ9 for a few years plus p Panasonic DMC video camera, I have always been pleased with the results from both cameras, The main problems l faced using the two cameras were the time it took to swop from one to another to capture scenes which you quickly come across, and the inability of the TZ9 to take video in AVCHD. The TZ80 camera has solved my problem as both AVCHD and MP4 are built into the unit, meaning l now can swop from video to still recording very quickly., meaning less weight and bulk to carry around. Having owned a TZ camera before l found operation of this unit relatively straight forward, but I am still wading through the many extra features. The full operators manual I downloaded has helped in this respect although like many manuals when you are studying an operation you get moved around to different sections, I note that Panasonic are not alone in this respect. Up to yet the TZ80 is giving very good results.

A refurbished camera from Panasonic although you wouldn't know it, seems as new. 12 months warranty included. I have used the TZ range of Lumix cameras since they were first introduced, and this is my 5th one (they live a hard life!) and they're used every day, outdoors, in all weather conditions. They have always taken excellent pictures and the TZ80 is no different. Great zoom, clear images with the benefit of the option of taking a 4k picture, the camera takes a series (short video) of 4K images and you select the one you want. Get the perfect picture. My only small gripe is i wish the pictures could be taken at a lower resolution than the lowest setting of 4.5M, previous models have had VGA as an option, handy when lots of photos have to go into a report. Other than that i would recommend the TZ80 to anyone who wants a hi-zoom good quality 4k capable compact digital camera..Read full review...

The picture quality is excellent and the zoom range is fantastic and very sharp at top end , I did find that the dial on the top of camera can change its position if put in your pocket. The other item is the position of the video button that is in front of the on/off button and beside the picture taking button which kept activating itself when taking pictures with one hand in upright position this is poor design and a pain . Has everything a large DSLR has Raw,4K video, enormous zoom range , manual exposure , and shutter speeds . Does require you buy another battery and charger as one will not be enough . The flap that protects charging point and HDMI is very flimsy and will definitely not last the life of the camera .But in all this is a very good camera for its price with every thing you could want in a small compact camera.

I have had a TZ 8 for about eight years and wanted to upgrade, i decided on another Panasonic TZ because I had really enjoyed the TZ8 so settled for a TZ80 mainly because of the EVF my wife finds it difficult focusing in bright light with the display screen. So the EVF was a must have. All of the other upgrades were nice to have and brings the TZ80 bang up to date wifi 4k 18 megapixels 30 times zoom and better video are all marvelous features but for me it is still the si.ze and weight, I have several other cameras DSLR'S Bridge cameras plus film cameras but the go to camera in this house is the TZ80 due to its portability. As I sit writing this review it is on the chair next to me to snap garden birds ad they visit the garden feeders.

Great all round camera. Excellent for travel. (Used on a cruise to through the Suez canal/ Jordan/ Abu Dabai. No issues!) Loads of modes/ features. Creates some stunning images under the right conditions. Surprised by the quality of the zoom, when used to identify distant objects. i.e. birds. (Using the 30x zoom, then 4x magnification of the image on the screen.) Some issues with the touch screen when in use. i.e. focusing modes changing. Not as snappy as my digital SLR, but not the same price! Would recommend obtaining a printed manual, ( 400 pages!) to access all the features. Overall, I would recommend the camera, based on my ownership over the last 10 months,if you have the patience to explore all the features.

I've been out of photography for quite a while and I wanted a camera that was capable of point and shoot as well as manual if I felt the need to take photography more serious againl, but I thought this would be a good starter compact, up to now I haven't been disappointed, I chose Panasonic because being old school I wanted a viewfinder of which I haven't felt the need to use up to yet I suppose that maybe different on a sunny day. I do a lot of walking with my dogs and I've found this a great little camera to slip in my pocket I've also took some very good close ups of my dogs, all though I've only had my TZ 80 a couple of months I'm quite impressed with it.

The TZ80 is not one of those cameras where you have to keep looking in your pocket every five minutes to make sure it's still there. You'll KNOW you're carrying this! Solid body, mammoth zoom lens, big bright LCD display and a digital eyepiece (if you're that way inclined). Superb Macro, baffling but probably useful wifi capability, focus wheel and 4K burst setting! More dials, buttons and menu settings than the boffinest boffin could shake a stick at. Love this camera. No huge lag after taking a picture, Leica lens and built-in flash. Haven't even begun to plumb the depths of what it can do. I'm pretty sure you won't be disappointed, though.

Love this camera. I have an SLR, now about 14 years old, and I thought a lot about what to replace that with (the pix the SLR takes now aren't as good as my iPhone!). This is a great little camera, and fab choice; there's so much you can do with it. I'm just back from the Middle East and have taken some shots I'm very pleased with, in both colour and monochrome. Now I'm familiar with it, I can flip from setting to setting very easily and get the effects I want - or use it on auto if I'm really in a hurry. I also love the addition of the touch-screen. Thoroughly recommend it, and love that I can take it everywhere without feeling weighed down.

Early days an upgrade from a Lumix LF-1, although a Canon fanboy they don't make a compact with a viewfinder and that was the criteria, portability with a viewfinder and good zoom lens. This camera ticked all the boxes and in silver looks great and feels retro. It is however not point and shoot like my previous Lumix camera and have had some initial difficulty with focus and exposure, as well as lots of beeps which send me running to the manual. Picture quality is excellent when I get it right!Great price from the outlet store and although refurbished could find no external faults, just need to get to grips with picture taking.
