Build quality seems good, image quality is quite acceptable for a camera that fits into a pocket and is easy to carry around. Screen image image is bright enough except for very sunny conditions and of course there is no viewfinder, it doesn't come with a USB cable and the camera has a mini B socket so the one from most devices will not fit. Battery has to be removed and charged in its own cradle so you can't charge it on the go from a USB outlet so you need to keep an eye on how much power is left. Special settings such as exposure control and filter are useful and if you don't leave it to start on auto then your preferred settings are still there on restart. One small niggle is that the settings buttons are quite small and fiddly. I found this a far superior camera to the Sony DCSW800 that I tried for a couple of days before sending back.

I owned one of these Ixus 185 cameras previously and they do what they say they will do. The lack of frills makes them very easy to use, and they represent very good value - I have used images from the previous camera in published books. Seller please note: I would have given it 5 stars but for the fact that when I opened the package, the charger unit had a two pin [European] plug with no adapater for the UK three pin sockets. Fortunately, I happened to have one in 'stores' from my previous camera that worked, otherwise it would have been a bore to have to complain and get a replacement in order to make the camera work!

I had a Kodak Easyshare camera bought about 15 years ago, and the LCD sensor on this failed after 10 years. I bought a cheap Polaroid branded replacement - lightweight and susceptible to hand shake problems. Ultimately the battery failed to take charge - a common complaint judging by online reviews.Recently I needed a camera for a fnction and bought this Canon IXUS 185. The build quality is good, pictures seem stable and easily loaded to my PC. Lets hope that the battery in this camera lasts.

The Canon IXUS 185 is a nice little, and I mean LITTLE, camera. I bought this one to replace a pocket sized Canon camera I had for over 10 years. As part of an Argos "Wow" package the camera came with a 16g SD card and soft pouch .The camera has a high gloss finish case so is easy to keep pristine. It's quick to start up, simple to use and the picture quality is very good..Battery charging unit is mains, not USB , so a little bulky.Overall this Canon is a great little "point and go" camera.

Great compact camera for size and ease to carry around. The casing is plastic and it's very fiddly to open the bottom where the battery and card go. Think that could snap quite easily. the camera takes a good quality picture for a compact. I love the ease of using it point and snap picture done couldn't be easier. The carry case is snug to say the least my complaint is you can't zip it all the way round as the carry handle is in the way. Not a huge problem but just thought I would mention it.

Great feature-packed little camera, much better than a smart phone. The optical and digital zoom makes for really good telephoto and close-up shots for such a small camera. Its 20 megapixels mean that the pictures are excellent quality as are the videos. It is light, easy to set up, and the build quality is good although the camera body is plastic whereas earlier models had metal bodies. I had a couple of instances of lens flare, but it was a very bright day. Overall; an excellent little tool.

Great camera! It's small so doesn't take up much room in your bag! It sets itself to 'easy auto' which means you can start taking pictures and videos straight away. Takes nice clear pictures. Though, the sound on the video isn't great when you play it back. I really liked the charger (as simple as that is) because it has two lights on the pack, one indicating when its charging, and another to show when its fully charged. Which is good because then you're not guessing if and when it's charged!

Great basic camera for my 82 year old mother in law who’s memory, is getting on a train and leaving her behind. She originally (some years ago) had the ixus 55, which after a few years stopped working, I think she dropped it once to often. We passed on our ixus 65 when we upgraded, she used this happily for a few years, now the screen is going black in places. So it was left to me to find her a replacement that she could get on with, next few months I will spend reminding her how to use it.

This is a very nice little camera, easy to use and reliable. In the bundle, it has a simple case, but that is fiddly to use. The bundle includes a good-sized 16 GB memory card, so it's ready to go.The camera slips easily into into a pocket, and the supplied wrist strap is handy for carrying it ready for use when sightseeing. The lens is good quality and can make a decent picture where a phone would struggle, inside buildings or at longer range. It is easy to override automatic settings.

It would be helpful if this sleek little camera came with full instructions without the need to download even quite basic details.Very light and slim to carry around. I look forward to using it once I have managed to turn the 'flash' off. I bought it now specifically to use at The National Archives where 'flash' has to be off and was not able to use it. I must download instructions before my next visit.I will still be able to photograph the beautiful flowers and wildlife in the garden.

Due to great reviews, bought this camera before going on a holiday. Now back, and pictures are fabulous. Great camera, great price. Even better when bought at Argos. Got cheapest price that I could find anywhere online, AND Argos threw in 2 freebies - camera case and memory card. A fabulous package deal. Gave 4 stars only for the build quality as the camera body is not metal. This makes it very light however. Overall, very pleased indeed. Well done CANON, and well done ARGOS.. .

Comes as a package with memory card and carry case. Fits in your pocket, so easy to transport and the pictures came out very well. No need to buy batteries as it has a charging dock to recharge the battery supplied. This is good but obviously if you are out and about and it dies, you can't simply buy some more to pop in. Also if you are going away you have to take the charger with you, so a bit of extra kit to remember. Easy to connect to PC to upload pics, but cable not supplied.

This is a handy, lightweight camera, easy to carry and use with a very good zoom range - arguably too great for this type of camera. But, the backplate is cluttered and no space for your thumb makes it easy to select functions by mistake, especially when taking a quick snap. Although obvious on a camera this size, the screen is small and with the poor playback quality it makes it difficult to view images and to judge picture quality without printing or downloading to another device.

I bought this for my wife who finds carting her SLR around a pain and does not like using her phone camera. It is small enough to fit very neatly in her handbag in its case and although its size makes it light its build quality is substantial and what you would expect from Cannon. She has used it only on easy auto at the moment but the results are very good. It focuses on faces in this mode , but works great on landscapes too. It copes with glare well. All in all excellent value .

One of my first digital camera's was an Ixus, and having tried several others in the intervening years, I thought it time to return after my last one packed up. First reaction was how small it is! But easy to use the buttons. Very happy with picture quality, but what attracted me was the 8x zoom. Works really well, although at the full extent at 8x, you need a steady hand than mine or something to rest it on - I suspect that this is normal for a longer zoom. Overall very happy
