A useful camera which is fairly easy to operate and use in connection with a computer. The resolution of 20.1 Megapixels is a little disappointing as the picture quality is little better than than my old Olympus 3.2 Megapixel camera. I had to make sure the auto flash was turned off as, on a dull Winter's day, very underexposed photos were the result. I have taken a few videos and I noticed that the kept going momentarily out of focus, for no discernible reason, and that those taken in artificial light were underexposed, which might be adjustable in the editing. I suppose that these minor faults are quite acceptable for a camera in this price range. I downloaded PlayMemoriesHome before uploading my first photos, and videos, to my computer. The window of this software seemed to get in the way and I found the uploading painfully slow. Suspecting that the software might be the problem I closed the software and uploading proceeded at a satisfactory speed. I subsequently removed the software from my computer as I am quite capable of managing, and editing my photos, and uploading them to a Could if I so wish; PlayMemoriesHome seemed to be more of a hinderance than a help.

Bought this for my first trip away as didn't feel comfortable getting my phone out for pictures all day. What a great decision, its only a 1mp difference from my Xperia Z2 but the quality of the pictures and difference with the wide angles made our memories unforgettable! Never had a camera before, not very techy, but was so easy to use and play with the settings. Lovely and small perfectly compact for the trip, kept it hanging on my wrist with the strap provided. Was very suprised at the battery life - a day in London from 10am, 566 pictures later, didn't die until we were making our way back home around 10pm. As usual Sony hasn't disappointed.

On a recent trip abroad some instinct told me to buy a back-up, just-in-case camera. Some instinct, some camera! A few days into holiday, my usual camera was in a small backpack which was stolen when I wasn't looking. Unfortunately my new camera's cable was in the pack too. So I started using my "back-up" . I like the quickness and precision of the zoom, the movie-function. By the time I returned home and had ordered and received the cable, loaded up on the iMac, I was genuinely astonished at the clarity, focus of W800 Compact and very pleased by the fact that It is so easy to use, especially for a non-techie like me

Bought this purely for portability.Pleased to find that in good lighting conditions this is capable of very good images, especially fine detail in close ups. Its 5x zoom is plenty & operates smoothly. The low res screen suffices. It can be charged by directly connecting camera to a USB charger, but a bit peeved that it is supplied with a USB cable that has a proprietary plug on the camera end. It is very intuitive to use which is just as well as the supplied printed instructions are pitiful.

For it's price, the picture quality is quite acceptable. One can always argue that there are better cameras out there, however, they are more complex to use. This is so easy (which is what we wanted for a relative's birthday) and is so easy to set and use that even someone unused to photography can get a good picture. This is what the expression "point and shot" was intended to mean.Very pleased with the build quality as well. Recommended for all who want to point, shoot and get a photo

Basic instructions are given so play around & get used to it then work out what resolution is best for your pics. It's capable of taking good quality, clear images. You're expected to have prior knowledge about getting your photos off the memory card! This lightweight camera performs well, takes fairly quick photos, the battery recharges in a couple of hours, it could do with a strap to secure it in your hand (nowhere to attach one!) & is slightly difficult to turn on as the button is small.

Wanted high resolution camera 4 detailed photos of needlework projects. Definition poor is an under statement. Zoom in close is extremely grainy. Returned camera but refused refund saying camera has been used. Struggle to comprehend how anyone can verify quality if no picture taken. Also had 2 purchase camera card separately. Argos overview says 'Crisp Photos' so didn't feel need to check reviews. Just have - "phone takes better photos ".... I have cheap basic phone n couldn't agree more!

Camera from a well known brand, sensibly priced, (so not the end of the world, should it meet a sticky end), reasonable quality, which we purchased for our son at Christmas. He's so pleased with it. 20 mega pixel, so decent quality photos, plus movie mode 720p. Basic features so not confusing for those baffled by multiple modes, features & options. I'd recommend this to anyone after a simple low end compact camera, especially for a child of this sort of age with an interest in photography.

bought as a birthday gift & optional 64 gb sd card as not included, once opened set up was very easy, you can set to smart auto mode & it sets pictures & focus up for you, Sony has included many settings you can adjust yourself & it also records video with sound & the kit comes with a mains charger as well as a USB data cable to hook up to PC or TV etcVery good value for a 20.1 mega pixel camera that can fit in your front shirt pocket & takes excellent pictures too, highly recomended!

This camera is a little cracker. I wanted a small camera to keep in my car to capture what ever takes my eye when I'm out and about. It was really easy to get ready to use, and the software was no problem to download. I have a more expensive SLR camera, and the results are just as good to be honest. I've taken several pictures in the dales where my work takes me, and the movie function is great. So, if you want a small easy to use camera, for all ages I would imagine, this is for you.

I bought this camera 2 weeks ago ready for my holiday. So far I am getting on very well with it and have not had any major disasters. It is easy to use but so far I have left it on the easy setting as I don't want to make a pigs ear of anything. I seem to be getting good photos ( mainly views ) but am very happy with the camera. I used the movie setting today and was pleased with the result. It is a good replacement for my last digital camera and I am sure I made the right choice .

I bought this purposely for a wrestling convention a few weeks back after reading some good reviews on it. I can honestly say I'm very happy with my purchase and I will always support Sony products as they tend to deliver the best quality. I do have a Sony Xperia phone which has decent quality pictures, but I'm always hesitant about letting other people take photos on it.The pictures come out crisp as you'd want them to. Must buy for anyone interested in a cheap budget camera.

I was looking for small camera to replace one that got lost and had been putting off the time to get another when I saw this little gem. I have a good knowledge of cameras from the past (30 years in photo trade) so I recognise a bargain when I see one . This has an "Easy" feature for quick snapshots but also has enough manual settings for my use. Ilove the movie function which I used recently and was pleased with trhe results taken in poor light.. Great little camera

I bought this camera for my wife at Christmas and I chose this camera because it seemed easy to use and my wife is not particularly good with technology.I chose the Sony because I have owned a Sony camera for a number of years that I have been very pleased with.It is early days, but my wife seems very pleased with her camera and has had no problem operating it. The pictures she (and my 6 yr old granddaughter) took with it over Christmas were very good.

I needed something to carry around with me all the time when walking and cycling as my SLR is too clumsy for this. The DSC-W800 does the job, the picture quality is superb. It is easy to use and understand as it automatically selects the right picture mode. Battery life is good and videos great at 720p so long as there is plenty of light. WiFi/GPS would be nice, but not going to happen at this price.I love it, its great for all ages and abilities.
