I didn’t think you could improve on an Oral –B toothbrush. How wrong was I ?I have had a few electric toothbrushes over the years of different makes, and have always come back to Oral –B. In part due to the recommendation of my dentist and in part my teeth seem to be better using a round toothbrush head as opposed to one with the same shape as a manual toothbrush. A few months ago I bought an Oral –B 3000 toothbrush and found it cleaned my teeth much better than the previous one of a different make with the same shape head as a manual toothbrush. After going to my dentist for my usual 6 monthly check up he advised me to have a scale & polish which I agreed to, that was almost a year ago.In February this year after I had my latest 6 monthly check up he again advised me to have a scale and polish. We had a chat asto why twice in about 6 months he said it is probably your toothbrush it is not reaching the back of your teeth properly. I told him the toothbrush I was using and he told me he highly recommended the Oral- B range of brushes. As it was my birthday that week I decided to use some birthday money to buy an Oral- B and chose the 3000 model. On using it the first time I immediately felt a difference.A couple of weeks ago I was given the new Oral –B SmartSeries 5000 with the Smartphone App to try. I can honestly say my teeth feel like I have been to the dentist again. They feel lovely and clean. even after a few hours they still feel clean. The toothbrush feels light and comfortable to handle and switches on and off easily. Charging is quite long initially around 14 hours. I charge mine every 5/6 days overnight. There is a light that lets you know when it is running low of charge. Also a red warning light comes on if you are pressing to hard on your teeth. You cannot overcharge the toothbrush, the light goes out when it is fully charged.I love the little compartments for the extra heads, and covered too which is attached to the charger. means you shouldn’t lose the heads. The travel case is also very useful either when the toothbrush is not in use or when you go away.Mine came with three different heads: 1x Cross Action , 1x Sensitive , 1x 3D Whitening. There is also a handy little leaflet too which shows you the different heads. Useful for reminding you which head is which.Superior clean. I agree the clean is a superior clean of The Oral B SmartSeries 5000 to my previous Oral B 3000 electric toothbrush and any other toothbrush I have used. My teeth seem to stay cleaner longer.Sensitive head. I like this one a lot if you have sensitive teeth it is very gentle on your gums and teeth.3 D Whitening head, I have given it four stars because it could not be perfectly white first time. I think I did see some improvement. This is definitely a work in progress. The toothbrush whitening head was gentle & effective. The Cross Action head is gentle but thorough. This is the one I use mostly.Clean feeling. When I clean my teeth they feel clean even after a few hours. As mentioned above the last two checkups’ at the dentist I’ve had to have a scale & polish. The next time I go in he should definitely see a different set of teeth. In the past I could rub my tongue against the back of my teeth and after a few hours I have felt Plaque, not so with the Oral B 5000.The Smart Phone App is good, I uploaded it easily. You can watch the time going round and the brush also buzzes when you need to go tothe next quadrant, each taking 30 secs. It also comes with a small stand to sit the phone in whilst you are using the App though this doesn’t sit well if you have a case on your phone which I have. I am not sure that the App won’t be a novelty at first. There is a drop down menu with things like adding your dentist’s office and tracking appointments –could be useful, track your statistics over time, including day, week, month etc. Some tips on choosing your brush head, how long since you changed your brush head etc etc. Even the latest news hmmm!!The travel case will be very useful for going away. And a holder in the charging station is useful for the toothbrush heads. It will hold up to four heads. The charger comes with a two pin plug so you will need an adapter to put it into a socket on the wall unless you have a Shaving socketI have now used the new Oral –B 5000 toothbrush for over 2 weeks and genuinely believe my teeth are cleaner and still feel clean hours later. All in all a very good toothbrush. I think Oral –B have thought of just about everything with this toothbrush and I cannot rate it highly enough. I have tried to think of everything that someone would need to know when thinking of buying this toothbrush and NO I do not work for Oral –B.Update on the App. My phone is not recording the fact I am cleaning my teeth for a full 2 minutes which I know I am. May not be the fault of the App as my phone does not allow much storage. Also the phone keeps going into sleep mode so that could well be the fault of the phone and not the Oral –B App. I will probably reload the App. The App is very good on the whole. Unfortunately I have nowhere to sit the phone in our shower room which does not help.UPDATE as of 24th August 2016I went to the dentist yesterday for my 6 monthly checkup and he was really pleased with my teeth. I told him I was using the new Oral- B 5000 toothbrush and he says I don't need any treatment or a scale and polish like the two previous 6 monthly checkups. He also said that it was in part due to the oscillating brush head of the Oral - B. I am really pleased with this brush my teeth feel really clean, no feeling of plaque behind my teeth as before. Also not having to payout for a scale & polish either. I say Result.

This comes boxed and includes:- a plastic travel case- 3 different heads- toothbrush base- mobile phone stand- charging base with separate head holder which can be attachedThe charger unit with this toothbrush has the 2 prong shaving plug which I find annoying as I dont have a shaving point in my bathroom and therefore have to use it with an adaptor to charge the brush - not a huge issue just a tad inconvenient as they suggest that when not in use you leave the toothbrush sat on the stand so it can be kept fully charged (charge turns off when battery is full) however I personally am uncomfortable with leaving something switched on with an adaptor over night or when I am home.It arrived with alittle bit of charge in it but required around 14 hours of solid charging to take it to fully charged for first use.Oral B say that from full charge it should last around 7 days before going flat and needing more charging (will obv last longer if you are storing it on the base plugged in when not in use) - having been using it for 2 weeks I would say that they are pretty much spot on with the battery length - brushing twice a day for 2 - 3 minutes and not charging it on the stand it lasted 6 days before needing a charge. It doesn't have any battery level indicator - it only flashes red on the battery symbol when its running out and needs a charge - it would be more useful if in future models the light indicated the battery level. When charging it flashes green until fully charged.I didn't really get much use form the mobile phone stand - perhaps because my phone is quite big and in a heavy case it just didnt seem to hold it in securely and toppled over - it would probably be fine if it was out of the case but it's a hassle getting the phone in and out of the case. The plastic travel case is really useful - to use it you have to take the brush off the base - there is room in the case for 2 heads and if your just going for a week or a few days you can charge the brush before you go and it is nice and easy to carry without having to take all the bits with you.The brush itself is good. It has 4 different brushing settings:- High speed - for daily use - this is my personal preferred mode- Gum care - low speed to massage your gums and keep them healthy - I use this mode every 2-3 days after a regular brush just to make sure my gums are in good condition- Whitening - this has alternating pulses / speeds to remove stains from the teeth - not really something I used- sensitive - a low speed for those with sensitive teeth - not really something I usedIts a bit annoying that there is one button - so you turn it on and it starts in the daily clean mode and then you have to keep pressing the button to cycle through the different settings in order to switch it off. It would have been better to have an on/off button and then a separate mode button that you pressed to switch through the brushing modes.I do find that my mouth and teeth feel really clean using the standard daily clean mode and my gums look healthier using the gum care one too - after 2 weeks of use my teeth also look slightly whiter than before.I really like the pressure sensor which flashes red when you are brushing too hard - I tend to rush in the morning and press too hard in my attempts to get through it quickly - The flashing red light makes me pause and stop putting too much pressure when brushing which can be harmful to the teeth and gums (you can see the redlight in the photo where I push against the brush head attached) the brushing pulse also changes slightly to let you know you are brushing too hard in case you miss seeing the light flash on.I also like how during brushing every 30 seconds the pulse changes - this acts as an alert to let you know to change the area of the mouth you are cleaning. After the recommended 2 minutes it also changes the pulse briefly. This toothbrush also has bluetooth connectivity - you can download the oral b ap and then connect the brush to your phone running the ap so you can see how long your brushing for, how often you have brushed too hard etc unfortunately I had issues with the ap. Mostly it wouldnt run for me on my phone. I have an LGG4 which is just over a year old and havent had issues with other aps or connectivity but did with this one.Mostly it would have an error saying the ap unexpectedly stopped working. However when the ap did work it was okay but I didnt find it particularly helpful because the data was skewed as you had to start the ap and then start the toothbrush and then switch the toothbrush off and then switch the ap off - I was surprised that the ap didnt automatically start and finish the recording when you turned on/off the brush.I do actually really like this toothbrush and it does have some really good features. I think they need to work more on the ap to make it more useful and responsive but as it has the timer and pressure sensor built in and both alert you from the toothbrush not having the ap isnt really an issue for me.

I first reviewed one of these bluetooth toothbrushes back in 2014 - I had to double check. It feels like two years ago. Anyway, I can't remember what my rating was but I was underwhelmed with the bluetooth aspect, all it did was time the brushing if I recall correctly. The brush didn't last long before the battery wasn't lasting and it went in the bin. I went back to a basic oral-b brush. So here we go again. What's changed since that first model? Well, the app for starters:- it looks better- it seems to work automatically and it managed to pair automatically too- it stores more data, although all I can see that's new is that it stores when you brush too hard- seems like it presents the data better, like average brushing times, red highlighting if you're underperforming.- realtime feedback! What's interesting also is the promise of a new app "coming soon" which apparently can tell if you're not brushing certain parts of your mouth. Now I'm not sure how it's going to do that but we'll see!A gripe though: the app is as yet unstable. The first time I installed it, I chose "pair later" to my toothbrush. It then crashed, and refused to start without crashing from then on. Luckily, I thought "maybe if I uninstall", which did work, as I chose to pair immediately on 2nd attempt. However, this shouldn't happen. It needs fixing really, or there's going to be a lot of frustrated people, well, actually there already are, you can see that from the app reviews. This is android by the way.The addition of a phone stand to replace the odd smiley face dongle you used to get is definitely a good thing. I never quite got on with the smiley face dongle. If you never saw/used that brush you'll have no idea what I'm talking about, as I recall, basically it was a freestanding unit that talked to the brush and didn't do much more than count to 2 minutes in 1/4 mouth segments then change a :| face into a :) face. One thing that I do miss is the extra button to change modes! This model only has one button, so when you're done brushing you have to press....three times to turn it off. Actually you can press and hold to turn off, but still, meh, would prefer the on/off button to be separate to the mode button. The big question, does it brush your teeth any better than the basic model? Well...probably a matter of opinion really. Its size and form factor (and shape!) is identical to my base model, I put them side by side. However, the motor inside this one sounds different. Completely different. I do remember discussing the matter with a couple of dentists (sadly I'm no stranger at the dentist) and they're generally fairly uninterested in which model, more which head and how often you replace it, and that you actually use it properly in the first place. So read into that what you will.So - summary then. It's powerful, blue, has a neat stand, a few new features on the app, a better app although the app does need fixing, a new app on the way apparently, and...it does a good job of cleaning your teeth as all the oral b brushes do. Fix the app and it's five stars, especially if the next release actually can do position detection, without buying a new brush...the mind boggles.

I’ve used Oral-B electric toothbrushes for many years and have always been pleased with them. They brush well, aren’t harsh on my gums, and feel well made. As with my other Oral-Bs, battery life, charge speed, quality, etc, are good. The Smart Series 5000 I have comes with a Cross Action brush head, 3D White brush head, and the Sensitive brush head; though, as with other brushes in the range, it is compatible with other Oral-B brush heads, such as the TriZone and Floss Action brush heads. I used to prefer the Floss Action, but have switched to the newer Cross Action, which I find gives the best clean. As with some others in the range, the brush has a useful red light that indicates when you are brushing too hard, and notifies you at 30 second intervals and when 2 minutes recommended brush time is up.So far so good. The Bluetooth functionality, though, is a bit of a mixed blessing. You use it to connect the phone to an app on your smartphone. The app monitors your brushing, sends reminders, and gives feedback, both during each brushing session and amalgamated over weeks of brushing. I like the feedback. In addition, the app allows you to control some of the settings on the toothbrush, such as turning off the timer vibration, or disabling some of the modes or changing their order. This is handy.I am cautious about using my phone in the bathroom in case my wet hands drop it. The supplied rubber stand is simple and works okay, but it assumes you have appropriately placed shelf space in your bathroom.Unfortunately, there is no indicator on the toothbrush to show whether Bluetooth is on or off. You can disable and re-enable Bluetooth by pressing the on/off button for three seconds, for example to extend battery life, or if you have a pacemaker and are concerned about interference, or when your environment does not allow radio transmission. But since there is no Bluetooth indicator, it’s easy to lose track of the status.Another minor irritation is that the app only allows one toothbrush to be registered at a time. So if you have a spare toothbrush, or in my case, borrow your wife’s toothbrush when yours is being recharged (don’t tell her!), you need to manually reregister the toothbrush each time you switch. This 5000 is similar to the 4000 but has an extra whitening mode, and the box includes a travel case and the stand for your mobile phone. The travel case is not something that I have found useful - the ones from my earlier toothbrushes languished unused taking up space in a draw before being thrown out. The whitening mode is okay, but I rarely use it. Thus, I would probably opt for the cheaper 4000.

I absolutely love my new Oral B Smart Series 5000 electric toothbrush. I have got it free courtesy of supersavvyme.co.uk website. The product is new on the market I was one of the first lucky persons to try it. I love it! It changed my rather boring brushing for a great fun.I can connect it with my smartphone via Bluetooth. It means, I can check my brushing motions during the cleaning process. I can use the built in timer and guide for a better wash. It allows me to track my brushing habits weekly and monthly. I can learn more about my brushing and customise brushing modes according my needs and preferences. It is fantastic; I can have my individual electric toothbrush which helps to achieve the best result.Oral B Smart Series Cross action is sold with three different heads:- 3D White for brilliant clean and polished teeth- Crossaction is the most popular head- Sensitive Clean is extremely gently with painful gums and teeth (luckily since I stopped with eating lots of sugary food my teeth sensitivity has gone and comes back only after a lazy weekend)You can even upgrade your brushing studio with three more different heads: Flossaction, Precision Clean and Tri Zone. I have not tested these now, but must try.I use the Crossaction head which is designed for precise clean. Lifts and powers away plaque. It is small enough to reach all my teeth preciously. It even gentle and massages my gums. It is very powerful but never makes my gums bleeding. Not only the heads but the handle is very interesting and have new features. There is a red light on the handle which indicates when I brush too hard. I needed this feature so much because I outwear a totally new brush head in 3-4 weeks. I know it is not good for my teeth and can make them sensitive. Oral B Smart toothbrush is the only one which can help me and teach me to good brushing technics. I am really grateful for this big help. The handle shows even the charging level and flashing red light comes out when you should use the premium charger. It makes it totally impossible that the toothbrush stops working in your mouth. I love this feature so much.I will use my Oral B Smart Series 5000 electric toothbrush on my holidays too, because it has a very handy travel case in the box, not just a little plastic to hide the brush but a perfect, comfortable and protective case.

The addition of being able to link to your smartphone was the thing that I felt made the The Smart Series 5000 stand out from other toothbrushes and there is a handy smartphone holder that comes with the brush (along with 3 different toothbrush heads, lidded storage for the heads, travel case which holds 2 heads and the charger). Similar to other Oral-B electric toothbrushes you can use other Oral-B brush heads if you prefer. The app was easy to set up but it means I have to remember to take my phone in the bathroom or at least ensure it’s within a 5m range and although the app currently monitors how long you’ve brushed your teeth. pressure used etc it isn’t something that I will continue to use.I do think however this is great for assisting people to ensure they care for their teeth as there are different cleaning modes to follow too.I like the fact that there are 4 modes to use, everyday clean, sensitive, whitening and gum massage however I did get confused about what mode I was on therefore think it would have been better if it had a window with a light to show which mode I was in, although you can change the order via the app but would still need to remember what one I was using! I like the fact that it makes a slightly different noise every 30 seconds to remind me to change the area of your mouth that I’m cleaning however would prefer it to automatically switch off at the end of 2 minutes rather than having to manually switch it off, which you do by either holding the mode button until it stops or by scrolling through the modes. The first thing I noticed after using this toothbrush was how clean my teeth felt without me using any pressure and there is a red light that comes on to tell you if you are applying too much pressure, which I think is a great idea. My teeth are definitely a shade whiter since using this brush. It doesn’t appear to hold its charge as long as my previous toothbrush however, unlike my old brush, it does have a light to show when it needs charging and when charging the light goes off once it is fully charged, meaning I don’t have to use guesswork. All in all I think this is a brilliant toothbrush which definitely gives my teeth a great clean, is light-weight and easy to hold and had it automatically switched off and shown which mode was being used I would have given it 5 stars.

Most markets now are awash with options, wether it be TV's or Laptops, now Toothbrushes, they are all packed with different brands and options. So it takes either a new feature to stand out or a toothbrush to be really good at everything in order to make you want to buy it.Oral-B obviously have history in this area and their products are a big force, so the Smart 5000 series belongs to a selection of Smart toothbrushes which all have varying levels of features, but at their core all do the same thing. This 5000 series comes packed with bluetooth, several varying types of heads for different types of brushing, a mobile phone stand for when the app is in use, small carry case, head case and so on.Now some people will straight away point at the price, yes you can get electric toothbrushes for a fraction of the cost but its how good the clean your teeth and despite this being around the 150 pounds mark, it really does a fantastic job.The toothbrush is a decent weight so you know its there but nothing too heavy, it feels well made and sturdy enough to last a long while. The brush itself has different heads depending on what you want to do, like if your having problems with sensitive gums etc you will change to the sensitive head for a less harsh clean and so on for the other types of heads. The brush connects via bluetooth to your mobile phone, previous models came with a display panel which would sit in front of you but this feature has been ditched and it now uses an APP to follow your cleaning progress on your phone. The app works pretty well but i have had a few glitches, twice it disconnected whilst i was using it, but it was toward the end of the brush cycle so it wasnt too much of a problem and like i say it has only been a few times. The app keeps tracking quite well and displays some relevant information but could be improved and probably will be in an update. A strange thing is if your on Android you will notice the app will want access to just about everything on your phone, not something i'm comfortable with to be honest.Overall the brush is great, it has a high price tag but in the long run will make a difference if used correctly. The app needs an update to address some issues and also i would feel happier if it needed less access to your personal stuff.

I have been fortunate enough to receive this product as a product trial and this by no means influences my review.I have been using Oral B toothbrushes for in excess of 20 years and have always been pleased with them save for the last one which didn't hold its charge well. This was an impressive package to receive and I was delighted to see that it was supplied with three different heads for different functions. I was a little surprised at the initial 22 hour charging time and it took all of this for the full charge light to appear. Since then, it lasts just under a week for one user brushing twice daily for the requisite two minutes and takes about 17 hours to fully charge. My immediate thoughtwas that it felt a little odd in my hand as it is slimmer than the previous brushes I have owned and slightly taller however you soon get used to this change. The range of functions available in one product depending upon your dental condition and personal preferences is a revelation. I have discovered due to the red sensitivity light what a dental vandal I have been in the past!!! I am now much more gentle and let the brush do the work and am quite proud that the red light is a rare sight now that I have adjusted to using this new brush.I have been using the brush for nearly three weeks now and am definitely seeing an improvement in the appearance of my teeth. The whitening will be a work in progress but the sparkle and dentist clean feeling was almost immediate.I have toyed with the Bluetooth app which has been an enjoyable experiment but think in the long term that will be something for occasional use and to show off to friends and family. As the brush has the built in pulsing sensation at 30 second intervals this is a timely reminder to move on to the next section of your teeth and there is a definite slowing in the motor when you have reached the recommended two minutes.I am continuing to experiment with the different settings and heads and am delighted that the range of Oral-B heads are interchangeable for this brush.Like some others, I have found the "off" function slightly annoying. In the meantime, my regular dental checks will continue but I feel my relationship with the hygienist is about to break down!

It’s hard to see any significant difference between this “Smart Series 5000” and last year’s “Cross Action 5000” (ASIN B00WAKQP5M). The handle looks identical, has the same battery spec and the same four ‘modes’. They both offer Bluetooth. The case and three included heads (NOT four) are the same. Ah, I just spotted it – this one has a stand for your phone, and the 3D White head has a different appearance.Moving on, the Smart Series 5000 is a pleasure to use and really does get your teeth clean, just like its predecessors. Its action is very fast after a charge but slows as the battery runs down. If two of you use it twice per day, it’ll need recharging after three days, which takes all day.Whether it will still go three days between charges, a few years on, is another matter. Experience suggests it may not. Still, I’m prepared to replace my brush every two or three years – it only has to save a trip or two to the hygienist to pay for itself.Sonicare brushes last much longer between charges and don’t slow down as the battery runs out, but are less reliable, in our experience. We use both types every day: Oral-B and Sonicare. That way, we get the best of two very different actions. It doesn’t cost any more, in the long run.As for Bluetooth and the app, they’re a bit of fun and may even be mildly useful, if you find time for them. Unless I’m missing something, you can only pair the handle with a single phone and can’t record data for multiple users on that phone. Me, I’d rather have the old-style Smartguide. It only showed brushing time and a clock but worked without any effort on the part of the user. In fact, if you have an old Smartguide, hold onto it – you should find this handle works with it.If the feature set is right for you and you find this at a good price, you’ll be very happy with it. If you feel you don’t need four modes (you probably don’t) or Bluetooth (you definitely don’t), a lower-spec Oral-B could be better value but probably won’t come with the useful travel case.Whichever Oral-B you buy, be sure to register it and get the extra year’s guarantee.

I was so excited about trying the Oral-B Genius 9000 toothbrush because I have been using the same brand of electric toothbrush for about 10 years, and felt it was time for a change and to ramp up the cleaning process - as lately I've noticed my teeth aren't as bright as they used to be :(I loved the idea of the smart technology with this - I am by no means a big technology person, but if it benefits and improves something for me then it definitely gets my interest.First things first - this toothbrush was so easy to get charged up and start using.I was instantly impressed with the feel on my gums and teeth - it was very full on and felt like a powerful clean, but at the same time managed to be gentle on my gums. The pressure adjusts to the contours of your teeth and gums - so you get the benefit of the powerful clean, but no discomfort or damage which is so important. After my first brush I kept running my tongue over my teeth like they do in the adverts - they felt so clean, shiny and smooth! After just a few days I definitely noticed they looked brighter and whiter than before. I think my other brush was always good at cleaning but didn't help improve the look of my teeth. This brush has brightened up my smile and I feel more confident when I smile and laugh. I am only in my early 30s but I feel that the way this brush has brought back my natural whiteness and brightened my smile - I look a bit younger!! (which is always good!)Overall I would give this brush 9/10, as the brushing and cleaning is so thorough and the improvements in the look of my smile is definitely worth the investment. The reason I've not given 10 is I think some people who are used to manual brushing or a less full-on electric toothbrush may find this brush a bit vigorous - it is like a visit to the oral hygienist on a daily basis - so some people will love this and others may find it a little bit much! I personally would keep using it as it makes you feel like you are so involved in the process and not just mindlessly brushing your teeth. The fantastic results are so worth it!

I have used this toothbrush in all of the 5 brushing modes - Daily Clean, Sensitive, Whitening and Gum Care these are selectable by pressing the button on the handle switch plus there's a timer which pulsates every 30 seconds over two minutes to encourage you to change the section of your mouth you're cleaning. What I thought was brilliant was the red LED pressure sensor which came on a lot at the beginning as I hadn't realised how hard in the past I was brushing my teeth. You have to charge the toothbrush with a two pin shaver type plug. There is a red LED indicator to tell you when the battery is low but this only comes on when you charge the toothbrush on the charger unit and a green one to tell you it is fully charged up.I would love to see a indicator on the handle to tell me how much charge I have left once I am using the toothbrush A full charge takes up 22 hours and you should get around two 2 minute cleaning sessions for a week - roughly half an hour of cleaning for a 20 + hour charge. I would like to see it lasting longer at least two weeks so I can take it on holiday without having to take the charging unit with me.I am a bit apprehensive about taking my phone into the bathroom with me as I could easily drop it in some water, So I leave my phone and the stand in the bedroom and use my toothbrush in the ensuite and the both interact with each other without any problems. I just have to remember to take my phone upstairs with me every night.I would like the 3 brushes supplied in the pack to be labelled to say what they are as it's quite hard to identify them easily. My teeth have felt cleaner, whiter and smooth like glass since I have started to use this toothbrush and It has reduced the amount of a plaque build I have.I just love this toothbrush and will not go back to my old one as I have fallen in love with this one. It is a first class toothbrush and well worth the investment. I have told all friends about my new toothbrush and highly recommend everyone invest in this toothbrush!!!!

I love this toothbrush, it gives such a great clean. It seriously feels like I've been to the dentist after every time I use it. The brush itself is very easy to use, it has a handy 30 second reminder pause so you get used to cleaning each 'quadrant' of your mouth. I've not cleaned my teeth so systematically before but it just seems so sensible to do it this way now. It also has a 2 minute timer so you know when to finish. It comes with a neat little stand and case with a lid for spare brush heads. The stand is also detachable from the case for easy charging, it does seem to take a long time to charge but continually flashes whilst charging and then stops when finished. I found this useful, previous brushes I've had its just been guesswork when they're done charging. The brush also has Bluetooth to connect to your smartphone. You need to download the Oral B app. This handy app monitors how long you've brushed your teeth and if you've used too much pressure etc. (The brush also has a red sensor light that flashes if you press too hard). The app has other features which I wouldn't necessarily use and if I'm honest I only really used the app at the beginning, the novelty soon wore off. The brush stores info about the last 5 sessions so when you connect to the app it transfers the data. Now, I share the brush with my partner, we just swap the heads around, so obviously the last 5 sessions weren't all my use so the app data was wrong. I think the only way round this would be to connect each time which is a bit annoying and pointless. It does come with a stand for your phone and if you're like me and don't like taking your phone in a damp bathroom it's fine as there is a 5m range to connect the brush with your phone. It also comes with a handy travel case. In my opinion the Bluetooth and app are just a bit of an unnecessary novelty however the brush alone is so good and easy to use that it's definitely worth a buy.

This looks like a very minor upgrade to the Oral-B Cross Action 5000 Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush which looks exactly like this one and comes with all accessories but the Smartphone Holder. May be there are some subtle differences I cannot perceive. That said, I have used rechargeable toothbrushes from leading manufacturers and none of them, in my experience comes close to Oral-B. I have given it 4 stars, for poor battery life compared to other Toothbrushes in the same price range, so I am not saying it's perfect. But despite that, in terms of performance and features, built quality and bundled accessories, it's far ahead of the crowd!I love the Oral-B App as it puts fun into a mundane task of teeth brushing and is quite helpful for best oral practices. Now with the inclusion of the Phone holder, it's much easier to use the app for live feedback, especially the 2 minutes recommended brushing time. Without the App, I usually forget to do other tasks like floss, rinse with mouth wash and even the obvious, cleaning the tongue! With the App, I complete all tasks. This is more than just brushing teeth, it's complete oral hygiene. I now rarely trigger the pressure sensor with the use of the App which shows how long too much pressure was used in each brushing session, many of which were offline (I do sync offline sessions as I can't use the app at all times). The brush heads are high quality and does a thorough job.Now to Oral B, Braun or Procter and Gamble:1. Please, improve Battery Life.2. Put some Visual indicator of the mode chosen on the front of the Tooth Brush. The App shows the mode, but it's not possible to always use the app for every brushing session. As it is I have to count the vibrations and have to know the order of the brushing modes to know which one I have selected like Teeth whitening.

I was lucky enough to sample one of these brushes for free and after a few weeks using it i can not praise it enough! It is light weight, has a great design giving perfect grip and comes with a handy charger/ storage case for all the different brush heads. Once charged it lasts for a really good amount of days. It comes with a range of 3 brush heads covering various cleaning experiences from daily use, whitening and for sensitive teeth so there is something for everyone's needs or concerns. These can be stored in the stand so swapping between brushes is a breeze. It also comes with and a plastic travel case for those times away from home. Each brush head also has a mode which can be selected bypressing the power button until the desired mode is reached. When using it gives a comfortable yet flawless clean which leaves your teeth feeling clean and your mouth healthier. The brush has a timer which clearly indicates by a shudder when it's time to move onto the next area of your mouth to ensure you get complete coverage. One of the most impressive part s of the brush for Me is it has a pressure sensor that lights up if you are pushing too hard which allows you to ensure you do not damage you gums when brushing. It was surprising how lightly you had to push to show it was being used to hard. The downloadable app is also very useful to track your cleaning habits and helps encourage you to spend more time brushing on the areas you may need but if you don't have a smart phone the tooth brush is still amazing.Overall it is a great toothbrush that gives great results and with so many modes it has something for everyone's needs or concerns. Also with it being in the middle of the oral b price range it is definitely worth the investment. Would definitely recommend this to others!

I was lucky enough to sample one of these brushes for free and have found the app quite helpful it has shown me that even thought I brush my teeth with an electric toothbrush for 2 minutes I don't think I have been brushing my teeth correctly and have certainly been brushing too hard which thanks to the red light indicator on this model now warns me.I like how the app shows the sections of your teeth that needs cleaning and vibrates to indicate when its time to move on. I have had a couple of issues with the app stopping working half way through brushing my teeth which is annoying and also its not always convenient to have your phone with you in the bathroom.I found the toothbrush to be a greatdesign giving perfect grip and love the a handy charger and stand which has storage for the different brush heads. It also comes with a little carry case for holiday use which is very useful. I did find that it didn't seem to hold charge as long as my normal toothbrush but I have now got in the habit of putting it on charge as soon as I have used it.It comes with a range of 3 brush heads covering various cleaning experiences from daily use, whitening and for sensitive teeth so there is something for everyone's needs, you just need to select which clean you want and the app tells you which toothbrush and what you need to do. Removing the brush head is very simple and takes no effort.I received this product to trial and after using it for 1 month I went to have my 6 months check up with my dentist who commented on how well my teeth was looking which makes a change as I have a couple of teeth at the bottom that are slightly crossed and usually have build up but for the first time ever there was none which saved me having to have a descale.
