This is my first electric toothbrush, after my dentist recommended I get one (she didn't specify which model or brand!) because, though I manually brushed my teeth twice a day, she said I had gum disease.I did a crash course in electric toothbrushes and decided that I would like an Oral-B one, based on the choice of heads available, the reasonable price of replacement heads and the easy availability of the heads online and in shops. It also seemed that the small, round head design of most Oral-B heads would suit me, and my "ticklish" teeth would probably be less disturbed by this brand's action than the Philips Sonicare type.I decided I wanted a model which had a sensitive mode (and a spare sensitive head supplied with the toothbrush would be nice, but not essential). Some kind of case would be good, and I particularly wanted the toothbrush to have a lithium battery for longer usage between charges. Oral-B has only recently started providing these, and initially I found it hard to deduce which models had them. A chat with a helpful advisor at Oral-B sorted that out for me - the Genius models have always had lithium batteries, whilst for the other models, if the model number is in this format "Smart 6 6000", it's lithium and if it's "Smart 6000", it's NiMH. The earlier NiMH models are still widely available; lower down the range, they look identical to the newer versions, whilst for the Smart 6 6000, the design of the handle has changed - it is like the Genius models, whereas the Smart 6000 was a bit larger and differently shaped. Be aware that these newer lithium battery Smart and Pro models tend to have a little less in the way of accessories in the box (the old Smart 6000 had a wireless Smart Display that could be put somewhere near where you use the toothbrush - the new Smart 6 6000 doesn't have this but relies on the App for your smartphone, which the old version also used. Apparently the new model will work with one of those old displays if you have one, though). I haven't used the app much - I don't really feel the need for it and my Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge is currently buggy with the app anyway and won't connect, due to having Android 7.0 (there were comments about this in the Android App Store), so I used it with my iPad instead. I'm sure some will find it very useful - I just used it to change the colour of the ringlight at the top of the toothbrush to my favourite hue, which was fun!So far, so good with the use of the brush. I haven't set off the pressure sensor, and only drew a tiny bit of blood on the very first use, then nothing more (I am using sensitive mode and the sensitive head that came with it - I will graduate to other heads and settings when ready). I am really glad I got this version (on a Lightning Deal, so at a good 25% approximately saving - lucky I saw it in time!) because with Oral-B electric toothbrushes you can only change the brushing mode setting whilst it is turned on, and as I understand it, on the models below this one (such as the Smart 5 5000, Smart 4 4000, Pro 3 3000 and so on) you have to cycle through the settings every time if you don't use the standard one, and you need to know the sound or position in the selection order of the one you want, as there is no visual indication of the selected one. With the Smart 6 6000, like the Genius models, there is a display showing an informative symbol for the mode you want (whilst no symbol indicates the standard setting) and it remembers which one you choose and stays on it. You can check the symbol without turning the toothbrush on (though you need it turned on to change it). The battery status indicator is also more informative on this and the Genius models. The case for this model is a basic white, hard plastic hinged one, with nice, secure clips for the toothbrush handle and two heads. It comes with a CrossAction head, a 3D White head (the one for polishing/whitening teeth) and a Sensitive head (the original one which is densely bristled and has a flat cut to it, rather than the new, tufted type).

This is replacing my Oral-B Pro 6000 that I got back in 2015 and this new 6000N which is part of Oral-B’s Smart Series is a step-up from the Pro Series mainly in having different modes and an app, thus more features for the avid brusher, so long as you always remember to take your phone into the bathroom day and night and launch the app… and wait, as it can take quite a while for the brush and app to connect. The 6000N has a new design that is straight rather than slightly flared at the bottom like the old 6000 Pro but it’a around the same weight and is just as easy to hold with a rubberised grip extending the whole length of the handle that’s grippy even with wet hands. On the front of the 6000N there’s the usual power button and a cleaning mode button (Daily, Pro, Gum Care, Sensitive and Whitening) and then an area where different coloured icons appear to show the selected mode and then a battery indicator. The app allows you to keep a history of your brushing plus there are various achievements to get like Captain Gum Guard, which might be fun for kids. You can also set targets like a routine for Fresh Breath, or several days to do plaque removal where the app will suggest routines to achieve this. The app has a lot of features to make brushing more interesting rather than just doing the necessary for 2 minutes twice a day. The app even suggests you might take on too much if you try to set too many goals at once.In use the basics are a timer that tracks as you brush each ‘quarter’ of your mouth (upper right, upper left, etc.) for two minutes. The brush handle features an illuminated collar, the colour of which you can set in the app to match either your bathroom decor or anything else that takes your fancy and it’s easy to see while you’re brushing. The brush also features a pressure sensor and so can tell if you're pressing too hard at which point the ring will light up red to warn you to back off. The brush came with two slightly different heads, a circular one for standard cleaning and a more elongated head that reaches better around the teeth, and one pleasant thing is that Oral-B brush head compatibility is quite broad so you can mix and match. Add to that you’ll get a reminder to change the head rather than relying on the colour of the brush tips fading.Charging the brush is as simple as plonking it on its stand (which also has space for two spare brush heads) and a charge will last you a little longer than the advertised two weeks. The charging base is equipped with a standard two-pin UK shaver plug which you’ll find in most hotels (and many UK household bathrooms) but which will plug in to readily available adapters for UK 3-pin plugs. There’s also a handy carrying case included for travel. At the end of the day a toothbrush cleans your teeth and gums and the 6000N does that as well as you’d expect, however the addition of different modes and the app keeping a history and allowing you to set targets, makes the whole brush experience that bit more enjoyable. I also feel the Smart Series which sits below the Io and Genius Oral-B brushes but above the Everyday electric brushes, offers good value for money. Yes there is the niggle of the app sometimes taking a while to connect but this toothbrush cab be used without the app if desired. If you use it without the app it will remember up to 20 of your brushing sessions and tell the app about them when you next connect. On the whole a worthwhile purchase.

The ergonomics of the Braun Oral B brushes are generally very good. The Smart 6 doesn't move away from that; it has a single power button and a function switch button. The kit I received included a 3 heads; the excellent cross head, a whitening head and a sensitive head. The Cross head brush is for me the best brush for my teeth. The whitening brush has a rubber cap in the centre and works with the whitening mode on the brush to get you whiter teeth quicker. There are several modes that vary the speed of the brush heads rotation and pulsation to reduce the impact on your gums, or work with the whitening toothbrush head for whiter teeth. Also inside the box was a sturdy plastic case; this doesn't have any charging ability; if you require that you will need to get one of the more expensive models. Which brings me onto battery life; I reviewed the high end Braun 9000 series electric toothbrush last year. My main criticism was that the battery life was poor. The Smart 6 proudly totes that it now has a lithium battery; but somehow it still doesn't last one person much more than a week of twice a day brushing. Then you need to leave it overnight to recharge. I accept there is a motor draining the power but the battery life isn't enough to take a two week holiday without taking the power adaptor. I have really dragged out writing the review; and even drained the battery a few times to test it through. The battery lasts about 24 minutes; which with my 3 minute cycles is about 5-6 days.In terms of features; the Braun when you get past the entry level models have similar functions - the differences are how you control them, the accessories and bluetooth. As I noted before the smart 6 has the separate control button which makes switching modes simple. The smart 6 also has bluetooth and so you can connect to your phone to monitor your brushing, It works in that it logs you have brushed your teeth; and despite dentists being proved wrong on the benefits of flossing it still suggests you do so, II have smart pretty much everything; but I haven't persevered with the app on my smartbrush. For family use Braun still haven't really solved the family use feature which would make this great for life with kids as the toothbrush could rat them out if they didn't brush long enough or properly. One thing the app is good for; is tracking what your dentists advice is about brushing (when they tell you to brush your X more) you can program targeted areas into the app and it reminds you to brush them each time you use it. The last of the accessories to go with the connect to your phone motif is the 9000 series came with a mirror suction mount to hold your phone; the smart 6 comes with a weighted rubberised white puck that holds your phone. The braun brushes and the basic tooth cleaning modes are very good. I am not sure the app isn't technology trying to find a use. The sensitive and whitening modes have their uses; sensitive being good your tongue in conjunction with the included sensitive brush head. The battery life and charging are an issue; so I use a Braun brush at home twice.a day all the time and keep it on charge. When I pack a suitcase I take a Philips sonicare the battery life is no better but the usb recharging makes life so much simpler than even the braun 9000 series charging case.

This is a review for the Oral B Smart 6 6000N.Included in the box you get:- 1 x toothbrush- 3 x brush heads (Cross action, whitening, and sensitive)- Travel case- Charger and brush holderI have had one of the older Oral B brushes (Smart series 5000) for about 4 years, I had the opportunity to upgrade to this model so thought why not.First impressions are that this electric toothbrush is actually lighter than the previous version I had, which means its nicer to hold in your hand. The body of the brush is covered in a rubber finish so there is no chance of it slipping from your hand at any time.Charging is pretty straight forward, simply place the toothbrush onto the charging base and it'll light up and pulse to let you know it is charging, when it is fully charged it will show the battery icon as full for a short time and then turn itself off. I put mine on overnight and it was fully charged by the morning. It is also compatible with the older charging bases if you already have one set up that you prefer. There is also a stand for the charging base which allows you to store two spare brushes - albeit out of their packets. The travel case has been improved as well, a solid white case, room for spare brushes and it is thinner than the older one for easier storage. So onto the brushing,This brush has a bluetooth connection to allow you to use the app, start the app, sign in and you will be asked to link your toothbrush to it. I found this to be a pain, the app will only find the toothbrush if it has access to your location... I have no idea why, but I had a headache trying to figure out why it wouldn't work.Once you are into the app it keeps track of various things, including how long you brushed, age of brush heads, anytime you've used too much pressure, as well as bleeding gums/flossing/mouthwashing. It also has the option of selecting a Dental Care Journey where you can have a routine set up to fight plaque, whiten your teeth, improve gum care etc.Of course, you can just brush without the app, simply press the on button and brush away. The brush is set up so that every 30 seconds it will pulse to let you know to change to a different quadrant of your mouth and at the 2 minute mark it will pulse a bit more to let you know the recommended brushing time is up - this pulsing can be turned off using a button combination if you'd rather be left to your own routine. If you press a bit hard the smart ring will flash red so that you know to back off a bit, it does take a reasonable amount of pressure to get this to light up.There are various modes built in as well which you can cycle through after it is switched on using the arrow, the modes are:- Daily Clean- Pro Clean - The brush operates at a higher frequency- Sensitive - For a gentler clean- 3D White - The brush pulses different frequencies- Gum Care - Allows for gentle gum cleaningI've been using the Pro Clean and compared to the standard clean on my old brush it is a reasonable improvement.I'd recommend this as a good upgrade to the older version Oral B toothbrush and for new comers to the electric toothbrush world. The battery seems to be lasting well, my old one lasted about 3 days before it needed charging this one is onto 7 days and has not moved from a full battery icon yet.

Believe it or not, I've never tried an Oral B electric toothbrush before... Well, I was put off using electric toothbrushes after trying a Philips Sonicare years ago and noticing it wasn't brushing my teeth correctly and I couldn't cope with the excessive vibration - so I've been stuck using a "Listerine Reach" toothbrush.Just recently, Amazon sent me this to review, so I had no choice but to try it out and I'm extremely glad I did. This Oral B toothbrush is MUCH better than the Philips Sonicare. Yes, the vibration initially caused some discomfort at first, but not as bad as the Sonicare toothbrush. I used the sensitive mode coupled with the sensitive brush head for the past month to get me used to it and now I'm able to use the other modes (Daily Clean,Gum Care, Whitening, and Pro-Clean) along with the other brush heads (CrossAction and 3D White). The Pressure Control really helps prevent brushing too hard - a frequent habit when using a manual brush. The Daily Clean and Gum Care cycles last 2 minutes, with the toothbrush pausing every 30 seconds alerting you to change quadrants. Pro Clean lasts for 3 minutes, 45 seconds for each quadrant, and the Whitening cycle lasts for 2 mins 20 seconds (20 seconds to concentrate on the front teeth). So far, I'm extremely happy with the results, my teeth feel sparkling clean, whiter, and my gums feel much healthier. I have yet to see my dentist, but confident he will see a difference. With my old manual brush I'd have to use Gingigel mouthwash to prevent frequent gum inflammation, but since using this Oral B, my gums have been fine, and I now just use normal mouthwash.Battery life is really good and lasts up to 18 days. It's worth noting that this uses the better Lithium-Ion battery rather than the unreliable Ni-MH battery which will eventually lose its ability to keep charged. I personally think it's worth paying a premium for the Lithium-Ion battery alone.Bluetooth seems a funky feature to have on a toothbrush, but is it really needed? Well, no. I did use it in conjunction with the Oral B app for the first two weeks, and it's interesting to keep track of brushing initially, but my interest quickly faded and no longer use the feature. The more expensive Genius 8000 and 9000 feature position detection which may be more useful.Accessories include a travel case, charging stand, and phone holder. My only complaint is the short charging stand cable which doesn't reach the plug in my bathroom. It might be worth considering the Genius 9000 for its premium travel case with built-in charging, extra USB charging port, and much longer cable.Overall, I would highly recommend this toothbrush to everyone and I wish I'd tried one earlier as I might have saved a few expensive and painful trips to the dentist. I've since purchased an Oral B electric toothbrush for my two nephews - The kids "Cars" version for my 7-year-old nephew (smaller brush head) and Pro 600 for my 9-year-old nephew (standard brush head).

After a recent emergency visit to a dentist, I was advised to get an electric toothbrush. For years I have been sceptical about the benefits of, what I previously thought at least, was an overpriced gimmick. Who would possibly need an electric brush when you can pay a few pounds every two months and get a standard, manual brush? Well it turns out I hadn’t noticed just how much better they are. Admittedly, I laughed at the idea of a Bluetooth toothbrush. It feels like manufacturers are trying to fill our lives with these ‘smart devices’ that connect to everything else electronic in a pointless manner. But in this case, I think it is just what I needed. The Oral B Smart 6 feels like a well made brush,as you would expect for this price point. It comes in the box with a variety of different brush heads for the modes included in the app. The charging dock comes with one of those annoying two prong things that all personal care electronics come with. As a side-point I really wish these appliances came as standard with a conversion plug, as I bet virtually nobody has a shaver plug in their bathroom. It also comes with a travel case for the brush, and a comprehensive manual. The brush is able to function independently of the smartphone application, and is easy to use with one button to turn on. But let’s face it, if you’re buying this brush at a premium price specifically knowing it has Bluetooth support, I doubt you wouldn’t use it. Pairing the brush to your smartphone is easy and straightforward, with all the important information both in the app, and in the instruction booklet provided. Oral B’s app allows you to tailor a dental health plan to your needs, and gives you handy prompts when the brush is turned on for where to concentrate the brush head, and how long for. The pressure alert feature is also very handy, letting you know when you’re applying too much force when brushing. I find this to be especially handy, as this is a bad habit of mine, and since using this brush I haven’t had bleeding gums once. You can’t miss this alert as both a bright red light appears around the brush head, and a notification is displayed on your smartphone. If you’re for whatever reason unable to use the accompanying app when using the brush, your settings are automatically stored on the brush. The brush continues to provide ‘next stage’ buzzes as normal, and your progress is synched to your mobile when next connected. For me, this feels like an ideal way to improve my dental hygiene. As a busy professional, I’ve always found it hard to find the motivation to brush for a whole two minutes. Besides, how do you even know two minutes have passed? This toothbrush and app helps me to focus my attention on brushing my teeth properly, and I’m pleased to say that my teeth already appear whiter and feel cleaner than before. So for me, the Oral-B Smart 6 has been a godsend and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

I have been using the Oral-B Smart 6 6000N CrossAction Electric Toothbrush daily for just over 2 weeks now. I am super impressed by every attribute this toothbrush brings to dental care, and I’m truly regretting not investing and purchasing one sooner...Let’s start with the functionality! The toothbrush comes with 3 different replaceable heads and I found that both the 3D white and sensi ultra thin brush heads worked the best for me, however, the cross action was too abrasive for me and caused a little gum bleeding which I wasn’t happy about. I guess you got to try them all the find the one that’s most suitable for you.The Oral B toothbrush includes 5 settings: Daily clean, Pro clean, Sensitive,Whitening and Gum Care. I found that alternating between daily clean (first 1 minute), Gum Care (30 seconds) and Whitening (last 30 seconds) has helped brighten my smile significantly since use, despite using the exact same toothpaste. Every 30 seconds, the brush flashes white for 1 second so you can change settings if you want. After 2 minutes the brush will constantly flash white until you stop brushing, which will prevent over brushing your teeth. Furthermore, if too much pressure is applied when brushing, the toothbrush/app display will flash red, alerting you to apply less pressure for a safer and better quality brush. The Oral B app is also great, and includes a timer and the current setting you are using. I love that the app has ‘medals’ that can help motivate you to keep on the brushing grind whilst allowing you to set reminders so you never forget to give your teeth a nice clean every day. Please note, the app isn’t required to use the brush, and more often than not, I use the brush without it for convenience. The toothbrush unfortunately takes forever to charge and the battery lasts about a week when on full charge, not the estimated ‘2 weeks of charge’. This could be misleading, however I think it depends on how frequently you brush your teeth, I personally brush them 3 times a day so this could be why. The wireless charging dock requires a 2 pin charger, however I was able to purchase a 2pin to 3pin adapter for a few quid here on Amazon. The brush even comes with a nice and clever carry case that holds 2 brush heads of your choice as well as the brush itself safe and securely. Speaking of the brush, it is relatively lightweight and is very ergonomic and easy to hold, no issues here!Overall a great quality product that is well worth the price. I was tempted to give it a 4 star due to the charging time required, however after taking a look at my teeth right now, I couldn’t resist the 5 stars! Truly worth investing in if you want to gradually whiten your teeth the natural and healthy way!Thank you for reading my review, I hope you found it helpful! :)

(Pros & Cons at the bottom)I was really glad to see a toothbrush show up in my recommendations since I've been using the same manual one for way too long.At first I was pretty confused as to why I would need a bluetooth toothbrush (heh) but it is actually a really cool idea. The toothbrush connects to your phone and you can see all sorts of info in the oral B app, such as when you need to change the toothbrush head or your average brush time. You can even set goals for yourself like teeth whitening. You can earn medals for completing certain goals, Over the past week I've only gotten 2 medals in total, one for first using the toothbrush and another one for brushing my teeth twice a day for 5 consecutive days,I really like the menu these show up in because you can shake them around the screen by shaking your phone, a small, but very fun feature. The toothbrush itself feels very high quality and well made, it has plenty of modes for the vibration, pressure sensing, RGB, wireless charging (kind of), changable heads and bluetooth of course. The pressure sensor is a very cool feature which I'm sure will be useful to a lot of people, I never realised how hard I was brushing until this toothbrush stopped me, the RGB led changes to red when you press to hard, you won't miss it.It comes with 3 toothbrush heads, I'm currently using the cross action one, one complaint is that the heads are not labelled and it was very hard to find out which one I was using, it would be great if Oral B would put the name of the heads on the packaging for them to avoid confusion. The dock is nice, it uses some kind of wireless charging so don't worry about having this in your bathroom, no exposed contacts or anything, if you don't want this toothbrush in your bathroom though, you will need to get an adaptor since it doesn't come with one and uses the 2 pin plugs. If there was one thing I had to complain about this toothbrush, it would be that there isn't really a way to see what mode you're on unless you have the toothbrush running.I would definitely recommend this product, at the price it seems like a great deal and will last you a long time and will definitely be better for you than a manual toothbrush. Thanks for reading my review!Pros and cons:+ Great Build Quality+ Dockable+ Excellent App+ Pressure Sensor+ Changable Heads/ Heads Aren't Labelled- Have to start brushing to change modes

The Braun Oral-B Smart 6 6000N Electric Toothbrush is a top-of-the range electric toothbrush that's designed to ensure that the user gets the full performance out of the device whilst providing a powerful brushing action to ensure that the user's teeth are cleaned to a very high standard. To achieve this Oral-B have firstly designed an electric toothbrush that really works overtime to get the bristles cleaning off as much plaque and 'lodged in' food as possible. To help ensure that the user gets the full use out of the toothbrush, it connects with your Smart Phone or Tablet via the Oral-B app (which is free) to provide you with ‘real time’ feedback to ensure you’re brushing effectively. The toothbrush also informs the user when too much pressure is applied to the teeth and gums, with a glowing red light illuminating the reverse side of the brush. To be honest, this turned out to be a bit of a godsend for me, and has already resulted in me adjusting the pressure I apply to the toothbrush after just over one week of daily use.The rechargeable battery life seems to be pretty impressive. The manual states that you can use the toothbrush for over two weeks without recharging. I can't say that I have any idea if this claim is true or not, but it does seem to hold its charge very well.As far as the product's actual performance goes, for the couple of weeks or so that I've been using it, I have to say that I've found the toothbrush to achieve excellent results; really getting into those awkward nooks and crannies, between the teeth and around the gum line. After brushing I always floss between my teeth and since using this particular electric toothbrush I have already noticed a slight but nevertheless noticeable decline in the amount of 'substance' collected during flossing. I presume that this is because the 3-way brushing action of the toothbrush has managed to reach in between my teeth to a greater extent and removed an increased proportion of the plaque that was lodged there already. All in all it's a pretty impressive electric toothbrush with plenty of nifty gadgetry going on to ensure a darn good clean. It's unmistakably top-of-the-range and has a price tag to show it. All that's left to decide is whether or not all this extra fancy pancy malarkey is really worth it?

A lovely, smooth-grip electric toothbrush from a well-known brand at a cheap price, £83 when I got it. After years of my dentist recommending Oral-B electric toothbrushes to me, I finally got one for my birthday, and I have to say it lives up to its reputation. It has every feature imaginable, including 5 brushing modes, an intelligent pressure sensor I never knew I needed, customisable light ring colours with the app, and brushing advice from the AI. It has renewed my excitement for brushing again and has made my teeth much whiter and sparkly over the past 2 months.Pros:Everything is fully waterproof as expected. I have only tried using the 3D White brush head so far, but it feels amazing.I mainly use the regular mode for a general clean then the massage mode for gums. The sensitive mode is good for days when your teeth feel a little sore, and the power+ modes and the whitening modes are good for when your teeth need a little extra shine. The pressure sensor is a rather innovative feature that prevents me from brushing too hard and my gums from bleeding. It still allows adequate strength to be applied, because when I went back to using a manual toothbrush, it feels so weak! The AI in the app analyses which areas of your teeth you should focus on more, even though I don't really use this. You can customise the light flashing intervals and the vibration intervals using the app, including the colour of the ring light itself!Cons:The handy carry case is good for travel, but feels just a tad cheap and plastic. It only has space for 2 brush heads so I can't fit the third one in. The app is just too gimmicky, even for a tech-savvy person like me. I don't bring my phone into the bathroom with me, let alone in the mornings and evenings when I most need to be screen-free. Bluetooth connectivity has a range of around 1 metre, so quite poor. It often fails to record my brushing sessions so I can't earn "medals" for consistent brushing. However, the app isn't required for the brush to work. Furthermore, the battery life is advertised as 2 weeks+. This is not true, mine only lasts around 8 days on a full charge while brushing twice a day at 2 minutes each. It can be charged overnight for 6-8 hours to get to 100%.

This toothbrush has a wide range of features. Let's look at them:- It works with most if not all standard Oral-B heads and comes with a sample set of three to try out.- It has a sensor that tells the user if they are pressing too hard and flashes a red light in warning. I would have liked this to have been more sensitive as one has to press pretty hard to make the light flash.- It comes with the usual kind of charger base that plugs into a shaver socket, or a normal mains socket via an adapter that the user will need to supply.- It has five different operational modes which can be cycled through using the arrow button on the handle.- Like nearly all electric toothbrushes it has a timer thatbuzzes to tell the user when to move to a different part of their mouth and also when brushing is completed- The handle has a non-slip rubberised surface that makes it very easy too hold.- There is an app that can be downloaded to the user's phone. This is like most personal health care apps; the user has to set up an account and pair with the toothbrush via Bluetooth. Doing that makes it possible to track the toothbrush's usage and use its coaching facilities to help maintain healthy brushing habits. It also unlocks the ability to configure the toothbrush. One can change the colour of the "on" indicator - it defaults to white - and, very usefully, lock out any operational modes that aren't wanted. For example, my wife needs a gentle action, so I've made it impossible for her to select any other mode by accident. (Unfortunately, in her case the gentle mode isn't quite gentle enough, so she will probably have to revert to her AA battery powered brush.)If one prefers the Oral B style of rotary toothbrush and doesn't mind having their usage tracked over the Internet, this is a very attractive electric toothbrush. It comes with a travel case with room for two heads and with a claimed battery life of two weeks it will keep going over a typical holiday or business trip without needing charging. It represents decent value for money, although one should bear in mind that, in common with nearly all brushes, the battery can't be replaced once it's died.

This 'Smart' toothbrush from Oral B is the step before the more expensive 'Genius' line, but seeing as the only tangible difference between the 'Genius' and this 'Smart' is the ability for the toothbrush to detect where you're positioning the brush on your teeth and if it's in the correct position, I'd say that this one is the better value, unless you go the step even further for the highest end dual charging 'Genius'.Anyway, the packaging here is simple and inside you find a very well designed and made carry case, stand, charger, handle, phone stand and three heads. I charged the handle for a couple of hours, and appreciated straightaway the mobile phone-like charging progress bars. The display is actually very nice as a whole actually, where each setting is denoted by a different pictogram. You have to click a separate button to cycle through these settings. The different settings are quite noticeable, with the sensitive one being the most I think, where the hardness of the vibration is lessened, meaning you get a softer brush, which is recommended on the back of the packaging of most sensitive toothpastes. I can't say that the whitening mode has really made my teeth any whiter though, but this may bee because I refuse to go anywhere near whitening toothpastes. I mainly use the daily clean mode or the sensitive mode (with the included head). The app connectivity is fun, but I don't really use it. I want to be in and out of the bathroom as soon as possible in the morning, and when the 2 minute timer of this runs out, with the pressure sensor not being tripped I'm done. You can change the colour of the light on the shoulder of the handle in the app, but the rest of it seems a novelty that I imagine will wear off pretty quickly. I brush twice a day every day and for two minutes each time – I don't need an app to confirm this for me.As for the rest, the battery life is fantastic, the heads are of good quality and pleasingly widely available and cheap, which is more than can be said of the ridiculously expensive replacement heads of the Philips Sonicare.

I have been using an electric toothbrush for years and originally I thought this was pretty decent and gave a good clean. But after trying this it's just something else ! My teeth have never felt cleaner. The small brush head really manages well to get into crevices and spaces you might miss and the different vibration functions are just great and really work to give you a deep clean. I am always open to trying out new technology and the thought of a smart toothbrush surprised me. But after trying it it is actually really useful, somewhat motivating and informational to help you get the best clean every time. Connecting the toothbrush to the app was really easy and the app its self is quite simple to use.But the functionality of this is like no other and gives a new element to brushing your teeth. I like that you can customise the colour of the ring in-app, have a timer tell you when to finish and get an overview of your brush. This really helps to put things into perspective and help educate you to make sure you are doing things right and improve your brushing. Most things like this I would say are a gimmick but this is fantastic idea.I personally hate having to charge things all the time. One of the things I love about this is the battery life as even with excessive use 2-3 times a day it still keeps its charge for just under 2 weeks. The toothbrush its self feels solid, durable and nice in the hand and with it coming with a case it protects it and keeps it safe for travelling or even storage. Having different brush heads included was a nice addition also, as I like to have a medium brush and everyone is different. If you are thinking about buying this but dwelling over the price, don't worry it's definitely worth it. I would say something like this is an investment, an investment in your self. It may seem like a lot now but it will last years and it will give you the cleanest feeling ever. Overall the BEST toothbrush I have ever tried and really happy with it ! would 100% recommend.

In a world where everything is becoming smart its only a matter of time that the toothbrushes were going to get in on the game. To be honest I think Oral-B has solved a problem I did not think I had and that was connecting my toothbrush via Bluetooth to my phone….I now have app that tells me well done for cleaning my teeth. The app allows you to change the colour of the “smart ring”, useful if you have more than one so when you turn it on you can see if this is your or not……..(remember the little plastic rings you get to put around the brush heads…yer they come with them also). You also get medals and feed back on how you cleaned you teeth and times your bushing time. However I found you needed your phone next to you when you clean your teeth and have the app running. That way you get your count down. I expected my phone to just know when I’m brushing my teeth but you need to tell the app your brushing then it connects to the toothbrush then records your brush time. Where I can see the app maybe working well with teenagers (age limit for older than 3 for this toothbrush), the colour scheme they are available in are not child friendly. The app is wasted on me.Bluetooth gimmick aside its not a bad electric toothbrush, comes with 3 different heads with the end rounding to be gentle on gums, one with angled bristles to clean in-between teeth, and one UltraThin bristles for extra gentle cleaning. The toothbrush comes with five settings which are daily clean, pro clean, sensitive, whitening and gum care. As an electric toothbrush you can’t fault it. My teeth feel much cleaner and my mouth feels fresher. I like the different settings and they do make a big difference.I would liked the heads to have been marked so I could see which one was which as you can’t tell by the pictures in the instructions (which is very details). The app is more a gimmick and I quickly lost interest in it.I feel that it’s a little over priced for the Bluetooth connectivity that I doubt I’ll use.

This toothbrush contains many of the features which only a year or two ago were only available on toothbrushes costing three times as much, if not more. You possibly won’t want to use the smartphone capability of this. It’s an add-on feature, rather than something that’s absolutely essential. These toothbrushes generally have a good battery life between recharges, and all of my Oral B toothbrushes have lasted longer than two years. What I liked about this particular toothbrush is a small detail but important, it comes with a number of heads, enabling it to be used by other members of the family as well.As with many of the other brushes in the Oral-B range, this has a number of different speeds,so that even those with sensitive teeth, can benefit from the extra cleansing power of an electric toothbrush. One very good feature of this particular brush is that it is possible to damage teeth by applying a brush too firmly, but this cannot be done with this particular brush. It alerts you to this. Two minutes is all it takes to get your mouth sparkling clean, and this is easily done thanks to the sound alert when 30 seconds is up. By simply focusing on one quarter of your mouth at a time, you can optimise the two minutes cleaning time.Like all toothbrushes, this does need a two point shaver type plug, to charge it for the first use, and for subsequent uses. I have no idea why these are never supplied, but they aren’t, so you will have to supply your own. These are easily bought at the majority of hardware stores (or on Amazon, of course). This is best left to charge for 24 hours before using it for the first time. Failure to charge it fully often results in a very short lifespan, for some reason, it does need a full charge on the first use. Do be aware of this. This isn’t something you can buy and put into use straight away. That’s a minor point. This is a very good brush, with a lot of good features. You may not use all of them, but you get a lot for your money.
