I got this game (with a ds) for Christmas- and I love it! First, you choose your dog. When you're at the kennel, in case if there isn't a special colour you want, go back to choosing your dog, and keep going back to the breed you want until you get what gender and colour you want. Then, you take your cute puppy home. They say that you have to wait for your puppy to get used to its new home. In case if it doesn't settle down after a while; give it love and pet it for a bit. Then, it'll calm down. Once it has, you have to pronounce its new name loud and clearly. Some dogs learn fast, therefore it wont be hard to train them. Some puppies take a lot of patience to train. When you buy your new puppy,it'll say what the puppy's like. Your puppy's name can only have seven letters. Shame, I wanted to call mine butterscotch! After your puppy has learned it's new name, time to train it sit. Again, it might take a while to train your puppy. When it has learned sit, it'll be time to go to the store. You'll need to buy food, water, shampoo, a brush and a collar. In case if you don't know if your puppy is a short-hair or long-hair; when you're at home you can click on it's name and it'll tell you. It'll also say how dirty or hungry it is. If you don't have much money, take your puppy out on a walk to the discount shop. Everything's cheaper there. When you're drawing the rout you want to take, go ontop of the question marks- they could be other dogs or presents. If you find presents you don't want, you can sell it at the discount shop. When you're out on walks, you must obey the law and pick up poop. Disgusting, I know. Tap on the poop to pick it up. If you find presents on the floor, grab you puppy's leash and drag it to the item. When you meet other dogs, drag your puppy's leash towards the other puppy. After you've been on your walk, your puppy's probably thirsty. To keep them healthy, give them water and dry food. If they've won a contest, you can treat them by giving them milk and a can of dog food. Your puppy might be dirty. Take a look for yourself. If they are, get prepared. With the shampoo you bought, scrub your puppy and soak it with suds. When the shower icon blinks, it's time to rinse. I'm sure you know you have to wash off the suds. The dirtier your dog is, the longer it'll take to get them clean. After you've bathed them, it's best to brush them to get them REALLY clean. It's best to make them this clean if you're entering a contest. If you want to enter them in an agility contest, take them on a walk, a half an hour later than last time, and take them to the gym.Oh yeah, the more you take them on walks, the longer you can take them. Make sure when you're drawing the rout to end it back at your house. So, practise makes perfect. The more you take your dogs in contests, the better they'll get. My dogs walk all over town and they're champions in every contest. Now, I do agree with other reviewers about the contests. I think it's good thatyou can only take them three times a day because that way they wont be tired out! Going in contests and selling things you don't need at the second hand shop is a good way of making a little money. After such a big day, your dog will be hungry. With the food you bought, you must feed them when they need it. Make sure you have enough food, drink and shampoo before you go out buying toys. If you've bought tous, it's time to play! After you've played and your puppy is happy you can train them. Don't train them too much, otherwise they wont want to until the next day.The more you go into contests, the more points you'll get and they'll add up. Sometimes you'll get new dogs in the kennel. The more you play with your dog at night, the more they'll spend the daytime sleeping. If you want another dog, you'll have to save up a bit more than the dog costs because you'll have to buy more. And if you have a long-haired dog, the more expensive things are. You can only have three dogs at home. But, you can always let the dog hotel look after a dog or two and you can buy more. Bot I say that having more than three dogs ishard because you have to swap them in the hotel. If you don't want a dog anymore, if you go to the hotel, you can donate a dog and they'll be adopted by another person and you'll never see them again. I think this is a great game for those who can't get a dog. The graphics are very good and very realistic. I have all the nintendogs packs, and I'd recommend all three of them to anyone who loves dogs! Oh, and one last VERY important thing. Nintendogs are almost real, and since you have to pick up they're stinky business, you must bathe, feed and water your dog every day. If you don't, they'll think you don't love them and they'll run away for a while. You must play with them everyday, too otherwise they'll run away because they're lonley. When they come back, don't yell. Give them lots of attention and love them twice as much. Enjoy the game, and if you don't have it,stop looking at stores and get it, already!

Review (Reviewer: JVG 2)Computer GameNintendogstmGenre: Virtual Pet/RPGRating:5* (five platinum stars)Review:Nintendogstm is a truly exceptional game. It defies conventions. When this was first announced, there was a debate as to whether it was going to be any good. The offspring of games like Pokémon, Project Cabbage and Hey You Pikachu, it demonstrates that voice recognition does have a role in gaming. Training virtual dogs and winning prizes while whupping someone at wii tennis all while timing how long the pasta has to be in the oven has got to be a tip top schizophrenic experience. I love this game so much that we've bought it twice.Visuals:10Quite simply, this game looks better than Oblivion.Ok, maybe that's a bit of an overstatement, but the fact of the matter is is that these dogs actually resemble real canines. They move like real dogs, they yawn a bit like real dogs, and yet for some reason, motion capture technology was not used in this game, unlike Resi 4, another winner of the Golden Pencil Award. Perhaps strapping motion sensors to real puppies would have been cruel. Nevertheless, These dogs look astounding. The boxers and Chihuahuas are especially cute. Amazingly, this is a handheld game as well. Who knows what magic Miyamoto is capable of. Perhaps he is a White Mage.Aural:10The jazziest tunes ever to feature on a handheld accompany barking, whining, yawning growling and howling so convincing that it confuses real dogs and frightens a real cat in my vicinity, Possibly the best feature, though, is the keyboard. This allows you to play real tunes and teach the dogs how to bark. Eliza, whom I donated to the Dog Hotel, was proficient in this respect. Pete Tong, understandably, was so good at learning music that he often persuades other Nintendogstm to mimic his songs. Well, he was chosen by my ex-housemate who is into dance music. Look out for other musical items in the game, such as the scratchable LP's and the music boxes.Mastery: 10I was thinking of giving this game an 11 for mastery. It defines the DS; it has sold millions, and will enter the multi million sales figures soon (assuming it has not done so already). I have bought some Nintendogs tm trading cards and they are so cute. Some people think the game is rubbish: quite simply, this is because they have little patience. Blow bubbles, inflate balloons, jog, stroke, indulge in a session of tummy rubbing, all in one game. Mastery is definitely the name of Nintendogs tmLongevity: 10This game offers plenty in terms of its scope for gamers and curious bystanders alike.Nintendogs tm is a highly addictive game, and has near-universal appeal. Because of this, I give it a 10 for its lifespan. These dogs seriously mean business. They almost killed me. Parting with them is a costly experience. Nevertheless, for people willing to give up a bit of their lives, they will receive a unique and rewarding companionship. Making a commitment is seldom easy, but with Nintendogs tm you receive an excellent package. There are many items to collect, more than 20 different breeds to play with, including Dalmatians and Jack Russell Terriers, and if you're feeling a bit crazy, try aiming for the Spaceport Interior design, or training a dog that gets Gold at Championship level in all three contests, or becoming The Master like me. (I have more than 50,000 trainer points). I work with the likes of the maverick Pete Tong, the demon-possessed husky hybrid Pazuzuu and the demonic Junior (two Alsatians and a Siberian dog). Who will you adopt? Colin the German? Ada the mysterious? Or will you be inspired by bubbles? Pick up this game and find out.

I absolutely love this game. Being someone who has no pets I get to have my own 'Computer' pet, which needs bathing feeding and walked regularly. Plus I get to enter my dogs in competitions, that's after they've had plenty of training. :)This game is so easy, a young child can play it. I also think it can teach a child responsibility in looking after animals. You have to clean up after it in the street, keep it away from rubbish, feed, bath, walk every day. Plus you can even take your Puppies to the park and play ball, and meet up with other Puppies there and play with them. Basically, if you don't look after your Pup it runs away, so if you want to keep them, look after them. The other great things is,if they become too much, you can have them stay in the dog hotel. You can look after up to three Puppies at a time, and have up to five Pups stay in the Hotel. As you progress through the game, more puppy breeds become available at the Kennel, and so you can have a mixture of small dogs and big dogs. Which is really good. You can also donate pups at the kennel if you no longer want them. I have become so attached to my pups though, that I can't even donate any. The sad look they give you when to go to donate them!!!Another thing I like, win money from the competitions you enter your pups into, and you earn enough money to revamp the pups home. The Visuals on this game are so good, I really don't have any complaints about it. What I really love is, as you love your Pups, they love you back. :)I chose Chihuahua & Friends, as I love small dogs. A cute game with lots to do for all ages!

After I killed my tamagotchi all those years ago I was sceptical about investing in another pet simulation game. However, unlike tamagotchi, a) you're pet can't die (yay), and b) the game is far more interactive and therefore more rewarding than earlier games in the genre.By far the best feature of Nintendogs is the ability to talk to and train your dog through use of the DS' built-in microphone. If ever you see someone randomly yelling 'sit' or 'lie down' on the train, you will know why. I have had my copy of the game for a day now and have been playing on it virtually non-stop. My Nintendog is a cute little German Shepherd called Joni, and I have already taught her how to sit, roll over, lie down, shake hands and wiggle her bum. Call me sad, but it's incredibly cute, and this game will melt even the hardest of hearts.Aside from teaching your dog new tricks (the list of which is incredibly extensive), you can play with them, take them for a walk, groom them and even enter them into contests. Through the latter, you can earn money (a nice touch is that the 'money' of the game is displayed in local currency), which will allow you to buy supplies, new dogs, or even a new decor for your home. That is really all there is to the game. However, it is so involving and rewarding, it is definitely worth buying. The incredibly realsitic visuals and animations, coupled with the voice recognition technology, perhaps makes this the most lifelike pet sim released. A game like Nintendogs could not be pulled off on any other system. This is the DS' killer app, and can be enjoyed by absolutely everyone.

This is a great game and is the best game I've ever played on the DS. It's one of those kinds of games that you have to keep checking back on.You can have up to three dogs at one time and you can use the microphone to call them and to teach them tricks. When they've learned a multitude of tricks you can enter them into dog shows. When you walk them you start out taking short walks but they get longer and longer each time you take your dogs for walks and after awhile you can collect all the items (which appear as question marks on the screen) that are littered about. Bear in mind though that other dogs that your dog can meet also appear as question marks. You can obtain lots of toys and trinkets this way and it's really fun watching your three dogs play about with things. If you're persistant and take your dogs for walks a lot you can accumulate a lot of points. When you reach a number of points you can get dogs that are available on the other Nintendog games. You really only need one of the games because you can get every breed by just taking your dog for walks or entering them into contests. If you love dogs this game is for you.

I bought this for my 5 yr old daughter who has recently been given a DS lite, this is the first thing she has ever owned that has captured her imagination day after day. For that reason alone it is worth the money. She has great fun buying new dogs, and caring for them by grooming, feeding, and walking them. She has not got the hang of teaching them commands yet but that does not affect her enjoyment. Even better is the fact that I bought a different Nintendogs version for my DS lite, as they link together via Bark Mode, meaning your dogs can meet up and play together. This does result in my ending up giving her lots of gifts during Bark Mode which she thinks is great. It is easy to use even for a pre-reading child, she always comes to me to ask which gift she has found as she cannot yet read the words, but again this does not spoil her gameplay. All in all the best thing I have bought her this year. We will definately be upgrading to 3DS version when she is old enough (as 3DS cannot be used by under 7's).

Having owned the Dachshund & Friends, Nintendogs has always been at the top of my list for all-time favourite DS games.I just love collecting different breeds and colours of dogs, it's incredibly fun the way they have different personalities and the fact you get an opportunity to name them (a name of up to seven characters). If anyone's wondering about the six breeds in the kennel for Chihuahua & Friends, here it is so you won't have to go to the effort of trying to find them on the internet:ChihuahuaYorkshire TerrierCavalier K.C. SpanielShetland SheepdogBoxerGerman Shepherd DogNintendogs as a game has so many different fun features; you can care for your dog, dress him/her up, play with them, teach them tricks, take them for a walk, enter them in competitions and go on Bark Mode with friends. Everything about the game I love, if anyone's considering purchasing Nintendogs and hasn't yet, I seriously recommend buying, you won't regret it!

I totally love this game and it is the best of the Nintendo DS games that I have invested in. It is more than a game though. This is somewhere you can choose a pet, bond with it, train it and look after it. You must be responsible and care for your canine companion(s) as if they were real. The graphics are great for a format that is limited in resolution and you can get a real sense of the individual personalities of the dogs. As you progress through the game how you treat your pup can affect its temperament and if you are a good owner you can pick up trainer points that unlock more breeds for you to choose pets from. This is a wonderful concept game from Nintendo and I am so pleased that I decided to purchase it.I must go now to feed and walk my dogs!

My daughter has this game for christmas, and after what seemed like an age to try and figure out you had to teach it its name before you could do anything, she had been on it no stop, she loves dressing her dogs up and taking them for walks..The only downside i have found with this game and would love some helpful advice if possible... I have a ds and when i load it into my console it loads just whre my aughter left off.. there must be a way i can have my own set of dogs without losing m duaghters info... because of this i wouldmark it down as youcan buy this game pre-owned and how dissapointing would that be for people who have to end up with other peoles dogs !!!

i bought this game for my girlfriend thinking she would like it as she likes dogs. This game proved to be a hit with her. Probably the one of the best parts to this game is that the dog can recognize your interaction with it. Also what you can do with the dog as you could in everyday life. such as wash it, feed it,give it water, take it for walks and so on. This is a good game for the Nintendo ds as its a portable console and you can take it anywhere. so i think that nintendogs is a very good game to get on the ds if you like dogs or not you can have your own one in the ds screen and play with it whenever you want.

I have had this game for a week now and it is the most addictive game out. I have a chihuahua called sable, who I have taught to sit, beg, jump, lie down, lay on side, roll over, back flip and break dancing! The competitions are really exicitng as well; there's a choice of: frisbee trial, agility trial and obedience trial. By far the best is frisbee trials - I also think it;s most difficult. You can also add accessories to your pet including such things as crowns, ribbons, sunglasses and tiaras.Definately the best game out on the DS.

9.5.2007

this is by far the best DS game I have. All DS features (mic, touch screen, dual screen) are used to the fullest. an exemplary DS game I would say although the game still suffers from low re-playability. Unless you are a big fan of dogs and are excited by just the cute look of different breeds of dogs, buying a new dog doesn't add up any new expereince in the game. it can be quite repetitive after a while (a long while though!)I recommend this game to players of all ages!

18.8.2007

This is a very fun and addictive game. It's a little limiting while you have only one dog, because, with one dog, you can only teach a few tricks a day, take walks every half hour and enter three contests a day...so that's the down side.Everything else is good - the game makes good use of the DS's touch screen and the graphics are exellent. All in all it's a fun fun fun game that's worth buying if you love dogs.
