I am not sure why this card has garnered so many low reviews. If you read them, it is mainly about the price point. Considering that it is a Nvidia card, it also does have the added "tech" and brand of MSI. Which, I assume, is the reason for the extra £30 (price at the time of sale £429.99 - July 2016), if you were to visit the Nvidia website and bought directly from them, yes, you will get it £30 cheaper than Amazon. But it would be Nvidia's own model, the Founders Edition. Which has the basic spec.Personally I bought this because, I have an MSI mobo and my previous 970 was MSI branded. And both had been good to me.The card is aesthetically pleasing and has that MSI "look",which I give them massive props for as my case has see through side panel. The performance of the card itself has been second to none so far. It is a tad noisy but if you are gaming with a headset I think you wont even hear it. My pc is running an i5 4690k cpu and 16gb of ram and so far the new GPU has not choked. The software that come along with it is ok, there is so much bloatware that I barely use any of it. I think I have used the software 2x.I have run the following games on ultra or epic settings: Overwatch, Black Ops 3, Cities Skylines, Dead by Daylight and Battlefield 4. All have run smoothly between 60 to 100 fps.I am no expert but I hope this helps.EDIT: 21st July 2016.I am making this edit because I have noticed that people have commented that I mentioned that the card is noisy and have commented that there maybe something wrong with a) the gpu or b)my rig.I based this comment when I used MSI's Frozr Gaming software to test out if the fans worked. And indeed they did work. So I am sorry for the mix up. And thank you for all your concerns, but my rig is fine and my gpu rarely uses the fans, all my gaming is comfortable and very enjoyable. The card itself is still awesome and I would recommend this card to anyone. And for those interested, I built the pc myself about a year ago, it is my first pc that I have built and the specs are as follows and all bought from Amazon:Case: NZXT Phantom 240CPU: Intel i5 4690k Processor (3.5 GHz, 6 MB Cache, LGA1150 Socket) [did not overclock as there doesn't seem to be any reason to right now]CPU cooler: Cooler Master RL-S12V-24PK-R2 Seidon 120 Ver.2 "System Builder, Closed Loop Liquid Cooler, 1 Silencio Fan, 120mm Radiator" BlackMobo: MSI Z97 PC Mate ATX Motherboard (Intel, Socket 1150)RAM: HyperX FURY Series 16GB (2x 8GB) DDR3 1866MHz CL10 DIMM Memory Module Kit - WhiteHDD: Western Digital WD10EZEX 1TB SATA lll Desktop SATA Drive - BlueSSD: Kingston SSDNow UV400 240 GB Solid State Drive 2.5 inch SATA 3 Stand-Alone DriveGPU: MSI Nvidia Geforce GTX 1070 Graphics Card (previous when built was MSI Nvidia GeForce GTX 970)PSU: Corsair CP-9020048-UK Builder Series CX600 ATX/EPS 80 PLUS Bronze Power Supply Unit, 600 WAnd some NZXT 1m LED Cable for effect.

I upgraded my PC with new motherboard, cpu, RAM and GPU. I upgraded from a 970 4g to this beast of a card.I play games on a 58inch 4K HDR 60hz panel. I play everything at 4K. There isn't a game I can't max out with this card. Obviously AA isn't necessary with the top games. I've compared them with and without AA and the end result is exactly the same. This card is so powerful it runs at 4K with AA without any problem. But it's a waste of power. The card has plenty of headroom for overclocking but I just don't need it at present as it copes effortlessly at factory settings. It runs perfectly quietly and without any undue heat issuesI read magazines in disbelief when they talk about what is needed to run games at 4K.To be honest I've never read so much rubbish in my life. I could runs games easily at 4K with the 970. It just got easier with the 1070. Games like Witcher 3, fallout 4, GTA 5 run like a dream maxed out at 4K. Obviously this wouldn't be so with a 30hz panel. I have read that the 1080 can't run some games at 4K. Given that it's more powerful than the 1070 I can only conclude that this is complete garbage. In the right set up this card will comfortably run your games at 4K. I don't need to run frame rate tests. I use my eyes. In GTA 5, I drive around at blistering speeds with everything maxed out. It never slows and frame rates are rock solid. This is just one example of what this card is easily capable of.In conclusion The 1070 8g is a superb card for 4K gaming.Seeing is believing.I just wanted to update my review. I have been playing Witcher 3 again. I updated the game with the HD reworked graphics mod. At 4K maxed out (AA not needed) the game looks absolutely incredible. I can't believe my eyes when I play. Sometimes I just ride around the countryside to take in the eyecandy. It's breathtaking. So this is why I'm playing the game again. The gaming X 8 G is an absolutely incredible card. I've not needed to OC it as it has so much power. I've been playing horizon dawn on my new ps4 pro. I'm playing at 4K and the games looks excellent. But when I compared that game to the Witcher it's chalk and cheese. Obviously that's how,it should be as this card costs more than a pro. But it simply illustrates what a great card this is. For true 4K gaming then this the card you want.

MSI GTX 1080 GAMING XThis is one of the last reviews of this card, I suppose. I picked one up cheap in the weeks before the 2080 came out.Interestingly the price has been rising again since then.An amazing card. I am sure you have read about it. It's a very big card! As long as a three fan card but an inch taller. It really is very impressive.Looks wise, I am used to Asus and Gigabyte which just are dull in comparison to this card, so 10 out of 10 here for cosmetics.Cooling is just amazing. I was running a Gigabyte three fan 1070 with a 3.5K monitor and it had a little difficulty at times so I wanted a 2080. But the 2080's are such poor value I decided to get this MSI 1080 instead. Good choice! It solves all my problems without any noticeable increase in temperatures. I used the same fan profile as the gigabyte, and there is only one degree difference playing games yet the MSI is achieving a much better framerate. I was expecting far higher increase in temperatures but the MSI is just amazing. With an aggressive fan profile it plays Monster Hunter at a rock solid constant 60FPS (capped), 3.5K and never gets above 54 degrees at 65% fan speed ~ average 70% GPU loading ( with peaks of 100% ). That's amazing. The Gigabyte couldn't achieve that. It ran 50~60FPS at 53 degrees and constant 100% GPU loading 100% fan speed ( and made a lot more noise doing it ).I wish I had bought one sooner.I also notice that the card is self-overclocking to a lot higher than the spec. It's running at a constant 1987MHz. That's in gaming mode too, which isn't the highest performance mode. Once again, that's amazing. So this is a large and impressive card with excellent cooling, despite the fact that it's only two fan. It's also very quiet.I can not recommend this card highly enough. Or the ti if you really want that extra power. Chuffed to bits that I managed to get one at a stupid price as well. Shop around. Snap one up! Way better value than a stinky RTX 2080.

TL;DR - Very good card but all 1070's will max out at the same performance due to how overclocking functions with the 10 series. BUY YOUR IDEAL MANUFACTURER FOR THE WARRANTY / SERVICE!Overall this is a very good card but make sure you do your research. Nearly all the 1070's will perform at the same performance and overclock very similarly, depending on your silicon lottery. You should choose your 1070 based on Price and Warranty/RMA.PSA - ALL 1070's WILL RUN AT A MAX OF 2.1GHZ ON THE CORE CLOCK. Some cards can clock higher but they will ALL downclock to ~2.1ghz due to how gpu boost 3.0 functions. Due to this, if you get LUCKY, you could buy a 980ti and overclock it to be faster than a 1070 but as it is older tech,it will not perform at the same level as a 1070 in dx12.The best warranty providers and customer service :- EVGA, hands down #1, if anyone tells you different i will be shocked.- MSI a close #2, below EVGA but way above the rest.- The rest significantly below, not build/quality wise but customer service and warranty wise. Take care when buying any other companies version and do your research.Pros :- Amazing card, very good performance/price ratio, especially when compared to the 1080- Can overclock the card to 1080 performance. Memory overclocks very well.- Runs VERY quiet and cool. MSI uses a system where the fans are off until 60 degrees. It's currently summer so my room averages at around ~25 degrees. Idle ~32, full load/gaming ~58-64 (normally hover at 60 as the fans kick in).- Amazing performance as a single card. SLI/crossfire currently has issue's in games (both amd+nvidia).Cons :- Only really overclocks at max core clock boost to ~2.1ghz. (Have not tested my max memory clock, currently +800mhz seems stable)- Very pricey but cheaper than the EVGA currently. (unless your lucky and pre-ordered the EVGA when it was £409 via amazon)

Right-o people. I finally got one. Time to say some stuff. My intention in regards to gaming is a solid 60fps on an ultrawide monitor. This card delivers this in a perfect way. I have had no issues with the card. Mind you, it does make noise when under load, fans only kick in at around 59/60c. Anything lower, fans are not moving, no noise.Games I play? ( All in absolutely maxed settings) Grand Theft Auto 5. Card is possible in pushing more than 80fps and 100fps indoors on maxed everything. I have a 60fps cap, I don't want my card doing more than if needs to, I only have a 60hz monitor.Skyrim? Maxed out. Again I have a 60fps cap, without the cap your looking at a solid 90fps +.CSGO? Too easy for this gpu,300fps+, I still have a 60fps cap here.Mafia 2. 100fps+. You guessed it. I have a 60fps cap here. These are my main games at the moment and it's handling it perfect. Even in MAFIA 2 @ MAX SETTINGS WITH MY 60FPS CAP, the fans don't move. It doesn't struggle at all. I was quite amazed. My recommendation? If your looking for ultrawide 1080p gaming, this will do the job for years to come (especially with new drivers etc). 1440p gaming? I can't say first hand but given how easy this handles 1080p, I'm sure it's pretty good @ 1440p.I've never owned a GPU before, I did my first ever build with this. I'm slightly disappointed at no SLI, it could easily beat the 1080, but hey, clever (and daft) business move by Nvidia.Side note, you may notice a whine sound when in games menu, this is because of how drastic of a change in fps is when in menu, for example, if you have no cap on a game like CSGO, menu fps is 1000+, then suddenly drops to 300/400 in game, I think the card doesn't handle a huge drastic change in fps that well lol. But regardless, Solid 10/10 for me. Happy.

So I haven’t been a pc gamer for too long and before I was only using my computer for animation work, while the graphics isn’t that important for animating it does help with rendering.Anyway I’ve got myself a fancy 21:9 monitor with g-sync and this graphics card hasn’t done me wrong yet, thermals are great the performance has been excellent while usually games maxed out are only hovering around the 60fps mark with g-sync that doesn’t bother me as it is so smooth.I really like the aesthetic that msi have gotten here although I don’t really understand why it has rbg lights when it has a red shroud, but what do I know? For my use case playing the witcher, Starcraft remastered, gta V I don’t have a need for 120fps 4K visuals etc I’m very happy with the performance I’m getting and with the types of games I play on it I’m very happy with my purchase. If your looking at graphics cards you probably already know what you want, if you don’t play the newest games on release and need at least 4K 60fps I would not recommend this for you, if however, you play mostly rpgs, rts’ Or anything that doesn’t need those super high frame rates with 4K graphics I will highly recommend this card to you, as you can get the nice visuals at lower frame rates and high frame rates at a lower resolution, fantastic and if you can get it for around the £400 price mark highly recommend

Bought this to replace the Radeon RX 470 card in my son's gaming PC. Delivery was quick with the goods well packaged. The build quality of the card is good and was easy to install, requiring a single eight-point power connector. The included disk with the drivers did not install correctly to Windows 10 however but downloading the drivers direct from nvidia did the trick with the card being correctly recognised once installed. The performance of the card goes way beyond that of the RX 470 and runs a lot cooler and quieter too. Which is a double bonus. The dual fan arrangement seems particularly effective with MSI's claims of the fan blade design being optimised for maximum cooling and minimum noise bourne out by the excellent results obtained.Mainly used for 1080p gaming with rock steady high frame rates but also managing respectable performance in 4K too. The card has been running flawlessly for 3 months now with no issues so thought I would provide this review in case it was helpful.

This graphics card is insane. I bought it for £650 and have upgraded from a 970.Firstly, this card runs hot, it idles at around 60C. This is because the fans don't start until it hits a certain temperature. I'm still playing around with my settings but it should be possible to adjust when the fans start.I'm using a 1440p monitor and managing to play every game smoothly on ultra. This graphics card was made for resolutions higher than 1080p. If youre running 1080p, I recommend getting a 1070. Theres no point :)The card looks great, you can change the RBG lightning colours to match your PC. Its also not that big in comparison to other GTX 1080s like the Asus strix.Ive had no problems with mine asides from when I first installed the drivers. My desktop screen kept randomly going black, however I believe this was a windows problem as I managed to fix it by changing my wallpaper. As for whether this purchase comes with a free game, I'm not sure as I haven't received mine.

For anyone wondering why the rating is so low (as of right now 3.5 star with 20+ one star reviews), I believe it was due to the pricing originally being set to £650 when the card was first released. At the time the 10 series cards were very hard to get in the UK as they were originally released in the US first. Now it is similarly priced with its competition, around £420 ;)With regards to the card itself, you couldn't ask for more (unless you're gaming at 4k). As far as I can tell, there is no game that this card can't run at max settings with at 60+ fps in 1080p. I can't say anything about 1440p as I don't have a 1440p monitor, but from what I've heard, this card is perfect for it too (just watch some youtube vids).I'm pretty sure all the 1070s, whether evga, msi, asus etc. will all perform about the same, the only reason I got the msi one is due to it being red and matching my pc perfectly, and as of right now, it is one of the cheaper options too.Hope that helps! :)

I would HIGHLY recommend you wait for the price to go down as this is a ridiculous price, do not buy this card right now, wait for a month or two and you will do yourself justice.**UPDATE**After having bought the card from elsewhere(it was cheaper). I can definitely say that this is a solid card. It will give you 60FPS 1440p or 144FPS 1080p on almost any game out there. And it will run dead silent most of the times as the fans don't spin unless your GPU gets to a certain temperature. As with all the PASCAL cards this one overclocks like a beast, I can easily achieve over 2000mhz without any issues at all. This outperforms the 980ti(not substantially but noticeable).Overall I would definitely recommend this card as it gives you solid performance. However, if you own a 980ti, I would look at something like the 1080 or the soon to come 1080ti. The only that could be considered bad this about this card is the red and black theme as it won't work with all themes.

Beware, you will need an 8 and 6 pin PCIe power connector in order to run this GPU.Aside from that (and that is by no means a downside), it is an excellent example of a GTX 1070.It was cool, quiet, and overclocked very well. Even though I have a very small case (which is less than ideal for an open face style card like this, i.e. front facing fans rather than a blower style cooler), the temperatures never exceed 73 degrees. That is whilst playing Overwatch. When playing games like Battlefield 1, Witcher 3, etc, the card usually hovers around 65-58 degrees. On very cold days I have seen it as low as 61!It also overclocked well, and regularly runs at between 2012-2050Mhz stable, depending on the game/temperature. I got an extra 100Mhz when manually overclocking the card as well, and the card boosted to 1965Mhz out of the box without me touching a single setting in MSI Afterburner!

I don't really need to say much here. Anyone buying a 1070 should have done their research by now. This particular card is absolutely fantastic. Whisper quiet, super capable and looks awesome IMHO.I'm running on 1440p and my first proper test ( Doom 2016 ) had everything set to maximum without skipping a single beat. It's the same game changer (pun intended) that the 6800GT was many moons ago. An utter beast at a not unreachable pricetag! One thing to note. There is a plastic covering over one of the fans that says 'remove before gaming'I didn't and the thing almost reached orbit before I investigated and removed it :) ( This locks one of the fans, the other couldn't keep up )Also, double check your case space prior to purchase. I thought I would have plenty of room, but I had only a few millimeters spare given the length of the card.

This card is totally amazing, really low temps under load, its quiet, dual ball bearings are good longevity, and it uses very little power, the card does support RGB on the side, but on the under part by the fans the individual red lines get lit up red and cannot be changed, (sad because you will have to disconnect the lights if you were to custom paint red to white or green etc. (Or red will be peering through) Frame Rate is amazing, nvidia drivers are currently sturdy, and the MSI software is even better. BUT WAIT. I highly recommend you to wait a month or two for the prices to drop, they should be around 80-100 pound less for this card as forth the gtx 970 dropped rather quickly too. Good card, good brand, amazing software, okay pricing right now, get it if you like widescreen, or 1440p+, too overkill for 1080p.

Been a month since pre-order, checking every day for a change but it has finally arrived.Really, really well built card from MSI, sits ridged on my Asus Max Hero VIII with no sag. The Rad even fits on the back of the case with just enough clearance from the MB IO plate detail. I got 1987MHz boost clock without touching the card, ran stable with temp not going over 48 degrees. I have had the card run stable at just over 2100MHz OC'ed and I think I can go a little more.Great card and you will never need to worry about temps. Packaging is second to none, I almost want to keep the box on display.White LED MSI logo and white fan LED. Fan is a little noisy but if you wear a headset it shouldn't bother you.NO CASE STICKER!!!!! I want a 1080 case sticker MSI.Great performing card with only minor points to improve.

I wanted a new graphics card to replace my ageing GTX 750 Ti and I wanted something that was good value for money. I don't want to spend £300 but I want something that could last 3-4 years at a stretch.I initially waited until the GTX 1050 range was released but I ended up being disappointed by their prices.GTX 1060 3 GBPassMark score: 8767Price: £200GTX 1050 TiPassMark score: 6002Price: £160For an extra £40 (about 25%) I get a graphics card that is about 50% more powerful, personally that's easy to justify. Something to note is that the GTX 1050 Ti cards do have 4 GB RAM instead of 3 GB, but I'm not sure that's going to make a huge difference. If you can get a GTX 1050 Ti for less than £140 it ends up being about the same value.PassMark scores taken from [...] in November 2016.
