The previous review is spot on! The Disney licence does make the Meteos game just that little bit more accessible and those who may have not even been aware of the previous release might just be tempted to give it a chance now - and that can only be a good thing!Meteos: Disney Magic takes one the DS's greatest puzzle games with a whole new style. Instead of platforming around spaced themed levels or travelling from planet to planet, you'll get to help the Disney characters by moving some falling blocks around the DS's Touch Screen. If you drag three blocks of the same type together, they'll burst into flame and launch into the stratosphere. Apparently, such pyrotechnics help the characters return to their usual selves and restore order. Each level has its own level of gravity and requirements for a successful launch. While some areas allow the blocks to slowly drift around midair, others will force them to plummet hard onto the bottom of the screen. The speed and intensity of the falling can also vary widely. Some levels may force you to create two or three explosions to get the blocks moving anywhere, while others let your targets careen away in a blaze of glory. In order to balance out the challenge, the game allows you to use different items and powers; while slowing down time allows for more block matching, a handy nitro boost can send even the heaviest payload zooming for the sky. The trick is using all of these elements to your advantage to gain the greatest score possible. While veterans of the original Meteos will recognize the basic gameplay mechanics, Disney Magic has a few surprises of its own. Since you'll be focused on the Touch Screen during the action, the game has been designed to maximize its use by making you hold the DS sideways a la Brain Age & Planet Puzzle League. While the control setup may be a problem for younger gamers ( the game's target audience? ), it allows you to use the screen more effectively. You'll need it, too; Disney Magic has slightly tweaked the gameplay to fix a game-breaking flaw from the first game. Originally, all you had to do was mindlessly scribble up and down to match up blocks. Now, you'll be able to move the blocks both vertically and horizontally, allowing for a greater need for keen observation and precision use of the stylus. The minds behind this game took what was arguably the best puzzle game on the DS, modified it to fit with a Disney theme, and in many ways they improved upon it. By implementing a greater range of movement, the gameplay is no longer reduced to a bunch of inane scribbling. Considering the stylish sci-fi motif of the first Meteos, seasoned gamers may be turned off by the bright graphics and overly kiddy-ish presentation, but the fact remains that Meteos: Disney Magic is a worthy pickup for anyone that is looking for a new puzzler, both Disney fan and non-fan alike.

I didn't really "dig" Meteos the first time around. Although I understood how the game worked and appreciated the thought that had gone into it, I just didn't have any compulsion to play the game seriously, preferring to scratch about on the screen with the stylus (which is an unfortunately effective strategy) for a few minutes before switching to another game. I sold my copy of Meteos a few months after buying it.However, this Disney version breathes new life into the game, with lots of fun Disney familiarity from old and new characters (from Simba, through Toy Story, right up to A Nightmare Before Christmas). The principle of Meteos is that the player uses the stylus to align constantly falling blocks (a tiny bit like Tetris)and launch them off the top of the playfield. The stylus control works well, but, as mentioned, you can get away with clumsy mashing on the screen and still get results. This version of the game is essentially the same but now blocks can be moved left and right, which doesn't fundamentally change anything but perhaps makes it a little bit more accessible and also more difficult to scribble the screen for results (though that tactic does still just about work).I wouldn't have expected Disney to license their characters to a leftfield Japanese puzzle game like this, but it gives the game a much needed sense of inclusiveness which will attract people for whom the original release was too esoteric. It's another good puzzle game for the Nintendo DS, this time with nice familiar character designs.

I brought the game for my 7 year old son, who loves it, I must admit that being a tetris fan this did appeal to me as well. The game didn't dissapoint, its kept my son quiet, I thought it may be a bit "babyish" for him with some of the Disney pictures but the he loves it.I would say that it has a wide age appeal, both my daughter (14) and other son (12) and myself (37) have enjoyed playing the game. Its harder than it looks, or maybe its just me!!! the kids didnt agree with me!!I liked the download and play feature, which meant we could all play at once, a good idea. For me personally you cant beat tetris, but as this game is aimed at children I think its well worth investing in if your going on long journeys as its guaranteed to keep them quiet for part of the journey at least.

I had tried the original Meteos and although I liked it I did find it a bit difficult. But Meteos Disney Magic is just a little bit easier which makes it more enjoyable for any age group. The gameplay is fast and furious but selecting different skill levels helps you to really get the hang of it. The graphics are great and all your favourite Disney characters can be unlocked as you progress through the game. Meteos Disney Magic gets a full 5 star thumbs up from me

I really like these types of puzzle games Im a big fan of tetris and meteos,I was abit reluctant to buy this at first having the disney theme and having to play it sideways like a book but i now ive played it i understand why that is as its a disney story book themed game. I did find it a bit hard at first with using the Ds sideways but soon got the hang of it and the Disney theme didnt dissapoint either it made it more fun.

Disney Meteos is not a very complicated game but still entertains you. It is a bit like tetris but you move the blocks around when they land and it has a story line to it. It also makes it good with the fact that the themes to the stages change from different disney storys ( the nightmare before christmas, lilo and stitch, toy story, the lion king and disney) Overall the game is great fun and I reccomend you buy it.
