I am professional photographer... look at me I am so great!! No I am not! far from. You know I would never start a review blowing my own sails, like the last two to$$er$ which proceeded me in the review of this MeFOTO GTC Carbon Tripod Kit have done. But what I CAN proudly proclaim to be, is nothing but a passionate hobbyist, with just about the required genuine knowledge in photography, camera's and accessories to get me by and be both blessed and satisfied with the results of my work. Mind you, I don't do photography for a living, couldn't stand the thought of it, because to do it professionally it's a dirty job, a dog eat dog underworld of back stabbers, fierce competition, for very little reward, selling yourself to the highest bidder, and f*** anyone else! And then you get deluded people whose only claim to fame is the one they come and tell you in places like these. (like the two who reviewed this tripod before me). Me on the other hand I have a well paid day job, and photography is to me an enjoyable hobby no more no less, if I was to do it for money it would become as boring as my current well paid but still boring job. You know the joke, right? "What is the difference between your wife and your job? Well after 10 years your job still sucks!" Enough said...Now back on topic, the MeFOTO Carbon Fiber Globe Trotter Convertible Tripod Kit. An excellent tripod, well weighed and just about right to handle a 5D MK3 with a 70/200 f4.5 zoom, I wouldn't recommend anything larger because you get a lot of instability even if you shoot with a remote control or the 2 seconds self timer. This is my 2nd MeFOTO the previous one was the non carbon type which I still have at home for indoor work, but it's had too many falls, to many battle scars to justify taking it out on the road with the risk of it collapsing in many pieces. So when it started to become weak in the locking knobs I decided to get another one and to upgrade to the carbon model.I love the option of hanging your camera bag on the hook provided under the main column. I love the way in which you can quickly extend the 3 telescopic leg sections and do them up close again it's just as easy. This tripod is also very good for low pow shooting, i.e. as close to the ground as you can get by either opening the legs as wide as possible by releasing the catches at the top of the legs or by turning the main column upside down and rotating the ball to the side slot to shoot portrait side. I know you can remove one leg and use it as a monopod, but I never bothered experimenting with that option because I generally shoot landscapes, landmarks and still subjects, therefore I need the steadiness and the time to compose and frame the subject and a wobbling monopod would be no use to me. If I was to suggest one improvement to the line, would be to have at the time of purchase a choice of compatibility between Arca Swiss type of camera plates which is the only option as well as the Manfrotto type. That's all other than that I am more then happy to keep using this brand until someone shows me anything better and lighter with the same holding capacity.Disclaimer: no to$$ers$ were hurt, in the making of this review, they have just been reality-checked by yours truly.RegardsFC

As Moose Peterson says, if you've got an expensive camera and a cheap tripod, you're nuts.Did my homework before buying. I really wanted a Gitzo, but couldn't afford one. I'm not saying that the MeFOTO is up to the quality of a Gitzo but amazingly it's not that far behind.Folds up small and is fairly light. Comes with a nice carry bag.The ball head is okay, a little fiddly, but can take a lot of weight compared to similar priced competition. If it's not stable, there's no point to a tripod. The MeFOTO is a rock.Really nice quality tripod. I've had cheap tripods before, when I first go interested in photography. They are a waste of money. For the money, the MeFOTO Globetrotter seems to be the best tripod out there. If you're rich, get a Gitzo.

Great travel tripod, and a bargain price for carbon. Sure you'll get sturdier, or lighter tripods, but they'll either be much bigger, or much more expensive. The ball-head is "OK", but for the price you can't really complain. Would perhaps have been nice if they offered it without a head so that you could fit your own.The main reason I don't give it 5 stars is the leg locking mechanism. They're a friction, twist to lock, which you have to make sure you've tightened fully. I would have preferred some form of snap to lock mechanism. There are also only two angle positions for the legs, three would have been nice and it wouldn't even have needed to add to the price.

A great compact tripod for travelling. With extremely good customer service, the first one I bought had a fault with it and they sent out a replacement immediately.Beware that it's a bit light in the wind, but that is a small price that I'm willing to pay for the easiness of bringing it with me everywhere.

Very good build quality and is an excellent tripod for travelling purposes. Packs down small; very good bag provided; and is light to carry. Ideal for lighter cameras (would not recommend for heavier pro cameras or large heavy lens set ups).

I am very happy with this tripod. It is my first one. Quite good for traveling. Could be a bit lighter. But no complains. I use it with nikon d600. Holds the lens 70-200 f2.8 well. It comes with nice small carry bag, allen key.

beautiful bit of kit, very well engineered. it'll take a while for me to get used to ball head as i've always had tilt and pan heads with a tightening stalk. but loads of folk use ball heads, so i guess i'll learn

Really, really happy with this tripod. It met all my expectations. Superb quality, fit and finish. Excellent working height (I'm 6') and supports my XT-1 plus telephoto extremely well.

Good all around tripod for travel providing stable support for DSLR's and reasonably long lenses.Ability to change to a monopod increases its flexibility.

The travel tripod I was looking for when it comes to good compromise between lightweight, price and stability. You won't be disappointed.

Very sturdy and light. We travel a lot and weight is important for both my back and luggage allowances. This is a good product for this.

Great tripod, light and more important sturdy, used it in Iceland with major winds,no trouble, monopod useful too.
