The blood pressure monitor I have been using is an Omron machine, but it is getting old and has become a little difficult with age.Omron produce a variety of medical equipment which is used in the NHS - everything from thermometers to nebulisers which is why I chose them for my machine, but they can be very expensive and when I saw this I thought I would give it a try.It is surprisingly good.Inside the box you get: the machine, the cuff, instruction booklets and leaflet as well as 4 AA batteries so you can get started straight away. There are 3 readings: systolic (top), diastolic (middle) and pulse (bottom). Blood pressure is measured as systolic over diastolic.Systolic is the pressure of the blood as it is pumped away from the heart and diastolic is the pressure of the blood between beats. The higher the blood pressure the harder the heart has to work to pump the blood round the body. There is little guidance given as to what defines high blood pressure. The leaflet suggest 135 (systolic) and above 85 (diastolic), whereas the NHS website defines it as above 140 (systolic) and 90 (diastolic).A high pulse rate (tachycardia) occurs when the body is resting and the heart still beats as if it were during exercise. The normal resting rate for a woman is given as between 72-80 beats per minute (it is higher during pregnancy). The rate for a man is given as 68-75 bpm.The machine will store a number of back readings so that you can look to see if there is any alteration (increase or decrease) in the readings. This machine should be used as guidance only and you should never try to medicate yourself. Should you have any concerns please see your doctor, though don't be surprised if (s)he scoffs and makes comments about hypochondria. Please remember when using this that you should not take your pulse/bp immediately after exercise, you should sit quietly for several minutes before trying, and if you want to take it again you should wait approximately 5-10 minutes before pressing the go button.I will say one last thing. During my visits to the hospital and to the GP my blood pressure has been taken a lot and the readings from the trained health professionals and the readings have ranged from mid-normal to very high - and they are supposed to be trained professionals - so if you get some readings that seem a little too high don't panic - just remember that even the professionals can't get it right all the time.

The BP monitor comes in a very compact box containing the monitor: carry case, 4 AA batteries and cuff. There are two thick instruction booklets written in several languages about 24 pages for each language. The monitor is quite large (approx. 51/2" x 4" - 14cm x9.5cm and stands 2" -15cm high)There are two large buttons on the front - one to turn the machine On/Off and one to turn on the two user memory. The screen in large and very easy to read. The time and date are displayed along the top of the screen. There is a coloured column of green, yellow, orange and red which indicates whether or not your blood pressure is within normal to high range.(basically the systolic measurement is when your heart is pumping and diastolic when the heart is resting) A pulse indicator counts your pulse whilst taking your BP and displays it along the bottom of the machine. A very handy heart -shaped indicator flashes to tell you if you have an irregular heartbeat (Arrhythmia). The cuff that fits around your arm is only for 'normal' size 22-30cm circumference so if, like me you need a larger cuff, they are available on Amazon at around £13 product number 51126 which goes up to 42cm. The machine needs four AA batteries (included) but you can buy a mains adaptor if you wish (Model 51125) but I couldn't find one on Amazon. The monitor only takes Medisana cuffs, I've got Omron and an old A&D BP monitor but the cuffs won't fit into this machine. There is also a very handy sheet included in the box that allows you to keep a record of your BP but the machine can remember up to 60 readings for two users which is also very useful if you need to monitor your BP closely. The carry case fits both the cuff and the monitor although it is a tight fit and allows you to put the machine into your handbag when travelling. All in all a very compact easy to use monitor with large display.

I've tried a few electronic blood pressure monitors have been pleased with the results and ease of use of all of them. However the Medisana Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor has a few features that make it stand out in a somewhat crowded mart. Firstly the display is really clear and easy to read. Secondly you can store readings allowing you to review them over time. The monitor uses an inflatable upper arm band that is good for family use - but for large arms/biceps you'll need to order a separate large cuff. That being said I am a big guy with normal muscles and the cuff, although a little small, works well. Inflation of the cuff is controlled by the monitor. The monitor is battery powered by 4 AA batteries - which are supplied. It can also be powered by a separate mains charger - not supplied. The package comes with a nice storage case to keep it all togetherThe instructions are clear and useful. As with all sphygmomanometers you'll need to get used to using it before taking the first readings. The "stress" of using an unfamiliar device will distort the readings. But getting to know how to use this Medisana monitor is a fast learning curve - after a couple of tries you will probably be ready to get going. It's simple to use and the readings are clear.Good looking, reasurring ease of use, and supplied with batteries - I like this package. This should be on your shortlist.

Blood pressure monitors don't need to be over complicated, in fact it's probably true in this case that simpler is better. After all, all we want to know is has it measured my stats accurately and am I therefore okay. This BP monitor has the added benefit of remembering your stats for a while with its memory function, so you can even check how you were yesterday if you really want. However, it still feels like Arnold Swartzenegger has grabbed your arm. Sadly there's no escape from the super tight arm squeeze yet, but it is really easy to use and the instructions are pretty straightforward. It even came with batteries! The only thing I would do to improve it is print on the back a little table of normal parameters to check your results against.I know it has the international light system on the screen (a dot shows alongside a red, amber, green printed strip) but sometimes it's nice to know how okay you are without having to check against what's considered medically normal in the little book. That could be clearer, after all most of us have no idea what "systolic" and "diastolic" even mean and the the info is in the little accompanying booklet which doesn't really fit in the storage pouch. In summary, it's simple to use, is quite compact, has a very clear display, remembers your stats and does the job with reassuring German efficiency, which is what you want.

As Blood Pressure Monitors go this is The Best home one I've tried yet.My sister has the latest Omron one which is very popular and this Medisana one is better!Firstly it is better laid out, comes with batteries, is better built too - the buttons and the tubes and cuff wrap are all better made, more easy to handle and intuitive to use - and it is a smart unit coming with a storage pouch. This is easy to use, just plug in the tube, wrap around the upper arm, then press the green button then read the large bold LCD display. This unit also comes with a Blood Pressure record chart - and a very good (and after reading the manual)memory function which can store a multitude of readings. To be honest I didn't need to read the instructions but when I did take the manual out I realised that there's no quick star guide - rather there's a multi-lingual manual which has tiny print and is not well written - for example the memory functions this has should've been included (complete with the other basic functions and method of use) in a simple large print, easy to follow, illustrated Quick Start Guide for those not wanting to search through a small print manual.Overall, this is highly recommended and the readings are accurate - measured up with those taken in the Surgery and by my dad's COPD Nurse.

I have tested a number of BP monitors in the past, but none as good as those made by Medisana. This is the third one I have tested and it is also very good. Its a small compact device and has two parts to it, the unit and the sleeve, which attaches to the unit via a rubber tube. It takes 4 AA batteries (which are supplied) but it does have an input for AC adapter which can also power the unit, but it is not supplied. It is also clear the manufacturer spent a lot of time creating the instructions, as they are comprehensive.. A few years ago you needed telepathy with some products to work out how they operated, as the instructions were too brief and badly written.I am glad to say this company has listened and the instructions for this product are clear and detailed and includes a guide to the blood pressure readings. To use you insert the arm into the small sleeve, allow some slack when you tighten it and turn the machine on. Its that simple. After a few seconds the LCD screen displays the very clear readout of Blood Pressure and Heart Rate, use the included BP chart and you can work out how high or low your own BP is. It is that simple!Overall, this is a well made product which I am happy to Highly Recommend.Sample product provided for review.

I've tried quite a few blood pressure monitors and this is one of the better ones. It comes in a fabric grey carry case and appears well constructed. It takes four AA batteries, which are provided. This has a lovely big clear display and is easy to use. You simply attach the cuff to the machine, strap it onto your arm and press the big green button. It then takes the reading. The reading appeared to be accurate for myself and my wife. This model has an average size cuff. The machine comes with very comprehensive English instructions explaining how you use the machine and what might influence the reading. (Instructions being one of the things that have let gadgets down previous models.)It also has a memory function whereby you can store up to 60 readings.I like this apparatus. It appears to be well made and accurate. It may not be suitable for those who need a larger cuff..

A handy piece of equipment to have around the house. Extremely easy to use, very clear concise instructions. Just like at the GP's, you put the sleeve on your arm, press "go" and that's it. After that excruciating moment where you think either your arm or your head is going to blow off, it gives you a reading. The device has 2 memory settings, so you can store 2 people's readings. No other gizmo or "app" additions, just plain blood pressure monitoring. This is a battery operated machine, but you can purchase separately a mains lead. Battery is better, makes the device more mobile. This is a really easy to use device, I don't have experience of other monitors so unfortunately cannot compare, but I'd have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone. Oh, also, like the fact that it comes in a little carry case, keeps it dust free.

Medisana is a company which manufactures a broad range of health care equipment, raging from bathroom scales through to thermometers, facial saunas and electronic lice combs. The other medisana products seem typified by good quality manufacturing specifications, durability and simplicity of use - aspects which are all in full effect here with this Blood Pressure monitor. It is simple to use, the large scale screen numerals being easy to read, and the device works well as a means by which to keep an eye on your blood pressure. Other reviewers have pointed out that it's simply a rough guide, and that blood pressure readings can change after exercise, a couple of cups of coffee, etc,but it is a useful device to have. No problem recommending this - good price, too.

I have a few of these blood pressure monitors and have been using these things for several years. The first thing is its easy to pick up and use, insert the batteries attach the cuff and press the start button to initiate the measurement. Having tested this with other machines it seems to give similar results, so seems resonably accutrate. Big clear display makes for easy reading of the measurements, all the usual measurements displayed, systole, diastole, pulse, date, time. You can create upto 2 profiles and utilise 60 memory locations to store readings. Automatic power off after a short period will help conserve the batteryIncluded is the cuff, main unit and storage pouch.Overall compact easy to use and easy to read blood pressure monitor.

As with most other BP machines, the Medisana is very easy to use. The cuff simply plugs into the machine and straps easily onto your arm. One minor concern is the size of the cuff, so if you are a big person, you might need to purchase the optional larger cuff. Checking it against the Omron that we currently use, which has been calibration checked at the doctor’s surgery, the Medisana is equally accurate.Readings, as normal, are provided in systolic, diastolic and pulse ranges but unusual for a device of this cost, it has the ability to store earlier readings for later comparison, a very useful facility.Provided with a little fabric bag and comprehensive instructions,it does the job and is good value for money.

I am very impressed with this blood pressure monitor, it is pretty easy to use and in any case has good instructions. It provides consistent readings, which are consistent with readings I have had at the GPs surgery so it seems to be pretty accurate. The cuff is a good size for me, my husband found it to be a bit tight though. It seems like good value for the money and I was also impressed that it did come with batteries, there's nothing more annoying than not realising you need them and then not having them! It would have been a nice extra to also have an adapter to plug in as I only intend to use it home personally.

Firstly, I found the cuff to be a good fit for me (women's size 12/14 medium build) but it would be quite possibly tight on anyone with more muscular or larger arms so please check the measurements before purchase. After getting out the reading glasses and having a good read through of the instructions I managed to work this with no problems. It's pretty spot on in terms of accurate reading and packs away in a compact zip bag making it ideal for storing in an accessible place. You can store and monitor blood pressure readings for upto two users.

I have an Omron M2 Basic Blood Pressure Monitor, which I found to be a good way to keep check on your health. This will do the same thing but has some really good extra features. This takes 4 x AA batteries (supplied) but can also be powered by a 6V power adapter (available separately). It features a large LCD screen with a constant display of the time and date. This is supplied with a cuff for 22-30cm arms, for larger you would need to purchase a separate large cuff (

Very easy to use I've used three types of blood pressure macines and this was the easiest to setup out of the box, comparing it to a machine that has been verified by my GP it's showing the pressure as a little high about 5-10% but as long as it's checked out by your GP I think this is a very good machine to choose but the cuff is not made for those with bigger arms.
