What’s good:Simple one-piece design with no tubesSophisticated and stylishWell madeClear high-contrast displayBatteries includedOptional smartphone app for keeping a log of readingsWhat’s not so good:Fits biceps 9” diameter up to around 16.5”Quite expensiveSingle user onlyI was wondering when someone would come up with a nice, neatly designed one-piece BP monitor, and I’m not in any way surprised that Omron would be the company to showcase it. This ‘Evolv’ wireless upper arm BP monitor does away with the separate cuff/tube/device setup, and switches to a single cuff with on-cuff display. The fact that they have managed to do this without it weighing very much - which was my initial concern,is quite an achievement.Setting up is simplicity itself - not surprising as Omron have been in this game for so long. The batteries are included, and you don’t have to use the Android or Apple smartphone app if you don’t want to - that’s just for keeping a log of things. I would prefer integration with a health hub such as Google Fit so that it can collate all my health stats into one place, but I’m not overly concerned about that omission at this point. The cuff itself will fit a bicep ranging from 9” to 16.5” diameter. My bicep is currently around the 15-15.5” mark, so there isn’t a lot of upper range, and that is perhaps one of my minor gripes in that as the cuff isn’t one of those designs that fold back on itself, so it does feel like the remaining velcro is under a fair bit of strain during inflation. But so far it hasn’t caused any problems. Anyone with a bicep 16.5” or more would need to look into something more specialist.Speaking of the inflation, it carries out its duties with the usual aplomb I have come to expect of Omron BP monitors - even in this reduced form factor it still takes roughly the same time as I’ve been used to. It features something called ‘Intellisense’ which is Omron speak to say that it will only inflate as far as it needs to in order to take a reading. The display is nice and clear with a high contrast white-on-black readout. The display will indicate if the cuff is wrapped tightly enough (and not too tight), and it will also indicate if you’ve moved too much during a reading session.I have so far found the readings to be pleasingly consistent when done in a row, perhaps as a result of having no tubes to work around so you are a bit more free to get comfortable. The only other potential downsides are that this monitor is intended for a single user, so there are no A/B user settings preset. But that should only be an issue if you’re wanting to do a lot of health readings tracked over time based on gender, weight and height etc. If you’re just intending to use this for simple readings here-and-there then this should be fine. Price is the final stumbling block, but then if you like being at the bleeding edge of blood pressure monitor design, or you just don’t like feeling like you’re hooked up to something, then this might not be an issue.

As a Vine reviewer I've had a few BPM's to test over the years and this is the most flash and expensive one yet. But, it's by no means the best. Now, don't get me wrong, this is a very good bit of kit. High quality with a real high end feel about it. But, the fact is that it's not as good or as easy to use as other Omron products lower down the price range. And that's for one simple reason. The combined armband and monitoring unit is a bit of a faff to use by yourself. Not impossible of course but it takes a few goes to get it in place securely and even then it does not feel that tight. I ended up having to use my chin to hold it in place whilst I tried to get it secure which is irritating.Once in place it does take a fair time to pump up and that's for two reasons I think.Firstly, this has a small air pump and only four AA batteries in use. It's not going to work quickly. And secondly because the cuff isn't that secure in the first place there is a bit of pre-inflation to go before it starts to compress. Of course this is not the end of the world and in isolation it's still okay. However when doing a direct comparison with a more standard unit that sits on a table top it feels like an eternity. The plus point of this setup of course is that the whole BPM is fairly small. I'd say the bag with unit and instructions is about 50% the size of the MT05 version. That may be a great selling point if you travel a lot, otherwise to be honest it makes little difference if like me you have the BPM on a table and use it in the same place each day.Of course like just about everything today you get an App which connects to the BPM and which records and stores your data. You get the usual readings and warnings about impending doom or not hopefully. The Omron app works well and the data is well presented so no issues there. For me - a person who has to undergo medicals for work and who suffers from 'White Coat Syndrome,' having a history is essential. I can take it to the centre and show the presiding doctor a history of normal pressures with the usual ramping up as the medical date draws close. So would I put my own money into this? No. It's a great and very accurate machine and from my experience Omron is by far the best makers of home use BPM machines. But you can get an easier to use machine by Omron that covers all the same functions for much less. Just not as portable. So, if you need a BPM that you can easily carry with you then this is a great option, otherwise I'd buy an Omron that is more standard in it's fitment and design.

I shall start by saying this model is only designed for a single user and to view any historic data you will have to use it with a suitable Android or iOS compatible Bluetooth device (No User A/B Switch or Guest use or the ability to view previous readings).First of all, recycle the eight instruction leaflets that are not in your language, install the Connect OMRON application on your smartphone or tablet and then insert the four AAA batteries provided, the unit should then display the SYNC symbol. All the rest of the configuration is done on your Android or iOS device and for me it took two attempts to find the device but then it configured OK.The app requires no registration and permits yourbasic body details to be entered. From what I can see at least with the Android App is that readings are automatically transferred rather than having to select the icon in the app to download. The Android app, at least displays the date in the American format e.g. Mon 08/07, 11:15 for the 7th August (Full details or each reading can be displayed and individually deleted if required).Using it.The cuff is sprung loaded which makes it easier to secure around your left or right arm but makes it bulkier to store in its provided zip up case. Then, just press the Start/Stop button and all being well you will have a reading in about 35 seconds (it displays normal data on the screen and error messages if the cuff is not correctly fitted). The OLED display is nice and bright and even at the poor viewing angle it is pretty easy to read (current reading only). To Sum UpYes, it does do away with the base unit and connecting hose but it is more weight on your arm and still takes up a fair amount of space to store.Without a Tablet or Smart Phone you cannot even set the date and time in the device (which it won't even display). The app, which also works with some of their other models does graph your readings well but does not seem to offer any advice to whether they are good or bad for someone of your age, weight etc.

Being a healthcare professional, I spend a lot of time using a wide range of medical equipment. I am very familiar with a number of Omron's offerings and was quite excited to try out this new, unique product. The first thing to mention about the Evolv is how solid it feels in the hand. It is a very high quality blood pressure monitor and you can certainly tell the difference between this and Omron's lower cost products. The control unit is securely attached to the arm cuff, which is semi-rigid and makes fastening it to your arm very easy. Indeed, I think this blood pressure monitor would work well for people who have limited mobility because of just how easy it is to apply. When fastened,a simple push of the start button gets things going with no fuss. It works quickly and produces about the same amount of noise as any other smaller blood pressure monitor. The results are displayed clearly on the screen, and it even correctly identified a family member's irregular heartbeat on first use. Absolutely perfect. One of the major selling points of this device is Bluetooth connectivity. I'm not a massive fan of Omron's standalone app, but was pleasantly surprised to find it was compatible as an accessory for Samsung Health, which is already tracking my steps and pulse from my Samsung Gear S3. This kind of integration makes the Omron Evolv a winner for me. Plus it is incredibly easy to connect to your phone when following the simple steps detailed in the user manual. The only downside to this product is the price, as it is certainly a premium level product. Whether you should buy this depends on what you're looking for. If you simply want a device to measure your blood pressure and nothing else, then consider a lower cost alternative. If, like me, you appreciate smartphone health tracking, then Omron's Evolv is a brilliant product that should meet your needs perfectly. So go choose which fits your needs best, but I firmly believe you can't go far wrong with this product.

I have two other budget models in the house, which we have recently used exhaustively as I am recovering from a major heart attack. As much as the others seem to work, they do not hold a candle to this amazing product! This is so easy to use, so easy to read and leaves you with confidence in the final reading. Just slip up the left arm above the elbow and secure with the Velcro - this is much easier than on cheaper models and gives you greeter confidence that it is in the right place and secure. Always remember that the cuff should be at heart level and you should be relaxed as you take the measurement.Once it is in place, press start and the humming as the cuff tightens commences. The display is very clear and easy to read, showing the systolic and diastolic numbers re shown then the display changes to show your pulse. If the machine detects an irregular rhythm, then a symbol flashes on the display as does an error display if you moved during the reading. There is also a cuff warning indicator if you didn't fatten it tight enough..What is extra special about this device is that you can pair it by Bluetooth to an android or IOS device., by downloading the Omron app.(Please note you cannot use with a Windows phone, tablet or laptop. The app is helpful, but by no means necessary. Warnings are clearer on the app, and checking your stored readings easier. This is an excellent device that is the first one that I have ever used at home that I trust, and is so easy I don't believe you can get it wrong

I'll admit it right here, im a luddite, im a paper and pen person, tech scares me, i pass anything that can think for itself to the other half but as this is medical i thought id be brave (well i managed the breadmaker!).Put batteries in (they were provided, which was nice), loaded the app on my ancient phone, wrapped the strap around my upper arm, followed the instructions on keeping arm still, shutting up, sitting still beforehand etc then started it.I hate blood pressure tests, they make me nervous which pushes up my blood pressure, which means i have to have more of them, which makes me more nervous (a self fullfilling prophecy), so i waited with a heavy heart for this to process while trying to think relaxing thoughts ("Jamaican Beach,Jamaican Beach, Jamaican Beach...."). As is usual it squeezed my arm like it was trying to sever it then released and i peered at the display... ooh normal, hurrah! I have a normal blood pressure when im relaxed but whenever im at the docs it goes up unless the nurse distracts me with chat for a while first, so it was nice to see i am normal, its just white coats i dont like!Easy to use, app logs all your readings, even a luddite can get the hang of this and its an upper arm one (rather than a wrist one) so is more accurate. It also fits round all the biceps in the house, even round the biceps that normally have the larger cuff when being read by the docs.

Went for this because it says its clinically validated for accuracy and its meant to be free from user error (unlike other more conventional types that rely on fitting it properly it uses deep learning algorithms, so regardless of how you fit it it should give an accurate reading.)Also no tubes and very light is a bonus. Its pretty expensive compared to classic clinically validated types and I do wonder if I should have just learned to use one properly to ensure accurate readings rather than be passive and lazy and expect the machine to do everything!! Especially since I suspect the durability of the classic monitor types is likely better. Its always hard to evaluate build quality but it has a 2 year guarantee which is unfortunately as good as it gets these days (and the same length as the other types Omron make).Easy to use, you literally hit one button to take a measurement and one to transfer data. Its easy to read, butI can't see why you should be limited to 1 user profile - seems a simple feature to add and a pretty disappointing omission.NB: once you sync your device it might not actually transfer the data (depending on your mobile phone) so you have to go into the devices section of the app and choose 'data transfer method 2' instead. That should be clear in the instructions rather than me having to troubleshoot it.

I am very impressed with the Omron Evolv BP Monitor. I have used Omron products over the years and have found them as durable and high quality but this product is on another level from other BP monitors I've tried. It is extremely easy to set up and use. First you have to load in the supplied 4 AAA batteries and then I paired it with the Omron Connect app on my iPhone. I'll say that set up took less than 5 minutes. I then took my first reading which was extremely straightforward, also. You press the start button, the arm wrap inflates until it's just about uncomfortable and then it defaults and you get your reading.A pull down on the app and the reading syncs over. You don't need to use the app and pair with your smartphone or tablet but it does mean that you have a digital history of your BP and HRM and have a graphical history. The product looks very smart, the buttons and read out displays are clear and easy to read. Overall, I think this is excellent.Pros+ Good design - the Intel cuff wrap technology on this model works very well+ Compact and portable - it come with a zipped case+ Easy to set up and use+ App is easy to download and Bluetooth pairing was straightforward+ App keeps history and can graph averages etc+ Indicates irregular heartbeatCons- none identiified to date

While generally home blood pressure monitors these days work well but are a bit of a faff, this 'OMRON EVOLV All-In-One, Wireless, Upper Arm Blood Pressure Monitor - Black' was a revelation to us. I approached it with slight trepidation because of it being a 'connected' device - the member of the household for whom it is required is not tech-savvy and wouldn't manage a monitor which required use of a smartphone to see the results - but am delighted to report that it is the simplest we've ever tried. While you can install the app on your phone/tablet for monitoring/tracking purposes, it is not essential at ALL, and the machine works perfectly out of the box without ever going anywhere near an app (take note,Withings!). The Evolv is a compact and relatively lightweight device, and comes with a very neat squarish black nylon carry case. The monitor is completely self-contained and all you have to do is to sit down, put it on your upper arm, rest your arm on a table, and press the start button, then it will automatically inflate, followed by a digital display on the device's own screen of your blood pressure, heart rate, and also an indication if your heart rate is irregular. Simple as that. Easy for anyone to use, and no pesky tubes or separate cuffs. Brilliant. Highly recommended.

Very easy to use. I have to take readings on my right arm and putting on a traditional cuff with a damaged left hand was proving to be impossible, and probably raised my blood pressure! The cuff has an arm shaped section which you slide up your arm to the correct position and then a velcro flap to close. You don’t have to get it very tight before you start taking a reading. It comes in a neat zip case and was very easy to set up and connect to my iPad. You can use without a phone or ipad but obviously is is much easier if you can see the readings on the Omron Connect app.Tested against a blood pressure monitor at the surgery it appears to be accurate. It is for one person only.I did use it to check my husband’s blood pressure and then deleted his readings from the app so that my records were not messed up. Deleting is easy on the app.It is worth noting that the price fluctuates regularly. Luckily I purchased at the bottom of the cycle and was quite surprised when I came back to write a review to see the price is much higher. Checking on CamelCamelCamel the price bounces in a regular pattern. It is expensive but I might not have bought at the price showing today. I didn’t like paying the price I did pay but it is very good and IMO worth it.

I've already got a few health care related gadgets in my house, so being able to measure my own blood pressure struck me as being convenient and complementary to devices that I'm already using. On the one hand, this works very well as a standalone blood pressure monitor. It is very nicely made, has a comfy strap that fits large or small arms and the on screen display is clear and easy to read. The app that is used to track regular tests is also, by itself, simple and easy to use. Where this falls down is that the app isn't compatible with MyFitnessPal, which is my default health monitoring app and is where my S-Health, Fitbit, Microsoft and Nokia Health data all end up. Also, there isn't a way to have separate users with separate profiles using the device either. If you have two users in a household and they both have the app installed, there isn't a way to stop the monitor from sending the data to the first phone it latches onto by Bluetooth. If you are only using this monitor and not much other tech to monitor your health, then it's great. It just gets less useful if you need to sync the data across multiple users and apps. However, these features may be included in a future software update.

This is a very satisfying blood pressure monitor. First, I’ve checked its accuracy against that of my GP surgery’s devices. It shows pretty much the same readings, not too surprisingly, given that they use Omron devices too. Second, it combines the accuracy of an upper-arm device with the convenience of a wrist-mounted option in that the whole system is integrated. You only need to loosen the strap, put your arm through the sleeve and tighten it again when it’s in position. Hit the button and let it do its thing. You don’t even have to remove your shirt or top. I’ve checked the readings on my bare arm and when wearing a light pullover and they’re identical. Third, the Bluetooth communication with the phone app is seamless and intuitive. You don’t have to think about it at all. It transmits readings even after it’s been turned off. The app displays could be improved a little. The blood pressure and pulse rate graphs are clear, easy to read and are generated automatically. But if you want a meaningful journal generated on the calendar, you have to fit the timetable the system wants or modify it to suit yourself. I can’t see the point really. The graphs tell me everything I need to know.

I bought this BP cuff, reduced by 30%, from Amazon Warehouse as a damaged box item, and indeed the box was damaged. However, the cuff appeared in pristine condition. I have found it easy to use and accurate as it gives very similar readings to my two monitors which have been validated. One is a Boots monitor and the other an Omron M6. I wanted this cuff so I could be mobile and take measurements without having to carry a monitor around. The data transfers readily to my iphone5 , even if the cuff is not switched on, which I thought was pretty cool. The measurements can be emailed to my PC and downloaded as an Excel file. From there I can do loads of calculations such as average readings at different times of the day and night etc.I did notice there was an update after I had installed the Omron programme into my iphone , maybe that has solved some of the connectivity issues others have reported. Whether this is the case or not I've had no such problems.Recommended if you want to take BP and pulse measurements on the move without the encumbrance of a monitor unit to carry around with you.

Nice bit of kit. Accurate and only takes readings on the inflating stroke. Quick and easy. Love the graph output. Think Omron missed a trick with the app. They could have added functionality so you could wear this continuously and use a time set on the app to take readings automatically like the GP ones do when you have to monitor. Nevermind. An option for the future.Still a really good, reliable product. Easy to fit. Pairs easy. Didn't communicate with the app on a few occasions but just restarted my phone.Edit: Just exported my readings to my GP after taking 3 measurements in morning, noon, evening and night. Over the top, but did this for two weeks and still on the batteries that came with the unit.GP was well impressed and loved the presentation of the data. Recommended everybody get one and the best £90 you could spend. He's double my BP med dose based on the data. Bottom reading was constantly over 90 and sometimes over 100. Love this kit. Based on my GP's response, raising to five stars.

I’m 33 and have been diagnosed with young mans hypertension. I have an iPhone XS and have previously been writing my readings taken with the wired BP monitor on loan from GP into my phone notes. My sister bought me this BP monitor and it has transformed my life, when you take a reading, simply press the connect button and the readings fly to your app on your phone, it then plots a graph and adds it to the apps calendar where by the press of a finger you can add the time you took up to 3 medications, if you exercised, slept well or not and even whether you had your vegetables for the day. All by pressing pictures, it’s easy! Then, when it comes to a follow up with your GP our consultant...you can download or print a calendar log book for review. I’m so thankful for the availability of this product and it’s app. It’s made me feel like my BP is easier to manage knowing I have full control.
