My existing BP monitor is getting a bit past it. I've noticed it seems to be giving high readings of late. Last week it gave a reading of 165/85 an hour before I had my BP measured in a hospital outpatients clinic which returned a more normal 125/75. So I was glad to see this item become available to me for testing. To start off, construction. The unit itself is fairly regular white plastic with a digital display. The push button on the front powers the unit up (4xAA batteries included and not rubbish ones either!) and it begins work Immediately I noticed the pump on the unit is quieter than my old one.The cuff is surprising. It's an upper arm model but has the Velcro all the way round the outside so it could be used for someone with skinny arms such as an elderly patient, or indeed a child. There's plenty of cuff too which would accommodate chunky arms. It is also a dark grey and black colour rather than the battleship grey many units have now.The unit stores the last 30 actuations but that's not really something I am interested in, although it might well be useful to others. I need to show my regular BP home checks to a consultant so need to write them down. For a casual user making quick checks at home it could help spot trends over a number of months. The instructions are clear and comprehensive and certainly better than some I've seen from so-called "big" manufacturers. They provide instructions to use and assemble the device, as well as explaining some situations where systolic pressure may be out of range for automatic devices. There's a semi-automatic mode for this. The manufacturer also mentions that an XL type cuff is available, presumably to fit obese patients or those with excessively large upper arms such as bodybuilders. So, to business. I strapped the cuff on and pressed the start button. A bar up the side of the LCD display shows inflation progress, and then deflation as pressure reduces. Once it completes, the reading and also heart rate is displayed. A block indication on the bar also shows where your reading sits according to WHO guidelines. Higher BP will either indicate in the yellow region or red (where you really need to speak with your GP). It's a useful facility as it immediately explains to the user if their BP is within the healthy range or needs attention. The unit can then be switched off easily with a push of the button. In summary, it's a neat device that adds a bit extra to the normal BP meters in that it offers an 'opinion' immediately as to whether your BP needs medical attention. Not everyone is familiar with the numbers for normal range, and for that I'm giving it five well-earned stars.

Some years ago, I would have thought that the only reason to use a blood pressure monitor was for fitness training. However, as I have reached middle age and my husband recently had a heart scare, I begin to see the uses of measuring and tracking things like blood pressure at home for peace of mind. I had never used one at home before, but this is a simple and easy monitor. All you need to do is insert the batteries, plug the cuff into the side, attach the cuff to your arm (a little snug this and you can order a larger size if necessary) and press one button. This monitor has a clear and easy to read screen and the instruction booklet explains what the symbols mean. The device will show whether or not you have an irregular heartbeat, can display an average reading and has a memory of the 30+ readings. Obviously, whether is suitable for you or not will depend upon what you want this for. I would imagine, though, that for most people it will be ideal for use at home. I was impressed by how simple this was to use, as I had expected it to be a little more complicated, but it is easy to both use and read/understand the results. If you have any concerns about your blood pressure then this is certainly a good buy, which will help you keep an eye on your results. As I said, my only concern is with the size of the cuff, which probably needs to be bigger (it fitted me fine, but was extremely tight on my husband and I imagine other people will have similar problems).Blood pressure is a measure of the force exerted on your arteries by your heart when it pumps blood around your body and is a good indicator of your general health, and of how healthy your heart is. In case you are unsure – a reading of 120/80 mmHg or below is considered a healthy blood pressure. A reading of 140/90 mmHg or above is considered high. If you are somewhere in between, this is considered elevated. With all of us taking our health more seriously, this can help you monitor an important indicator of health, and most cases of high blood pressure can be brought down by diet and exercise, although it is obviously important to see your GP if your blood pressure is high. Also, remember that it is normal for blood pressure to rise when you are very active, so it is important to check this a few times (that average reading will be useful here) to check what your blood pressure is over time.

As far as blood pressure monitors go - I have a lot of experience - as a health professional who uses these on a daily basis. I must confess I have always recommended and used the very well known "omron" range of monitors as these have historically provided consistency of readings and quality in hardware. This AND device is really rather nice - you can use it straight out of the box and it comes with 4 AA batteries which are needed for it's operation. Just pop these in and plug in the measuring cuff and you are ready to go.Operation - this is literally plug in and go and has a one button operation system so you can't go too far wrong, the instructions it comes with are really very clear and even include explanations ancd tips such as don't speak whilst taking your blood pressure and ensure your sleeve is not rolled up tightly above the cuff as this will affect readings, all things as medics we try to remind our patients of.The device also has 2 features which I like - the 30 readings menory - so you can record all your data and discuss with your doctor and the I Ducati of an irregular heart beat symbol. Atrial fibrillation (the most common type of heart rhythm abnormality) is often not picked up and can lead to heart attacks and strokes of not treated- this machine can read the pressure of those with this issue which is helpful but also highlights it to those who may not be aware of the issue - if you see the heart symbol very often theeaflet suggests you should discuss this with your Dr. Great advice, overall a nice machine - measures well and is comparable to my 2 other electronic BP devices. The only gripe I have is the cuff is not very comfortable. I tested this on myself and as a lady with normal and slightly thinner arms I found it very unconfortable and tight compared to my other machines. They are all a little like this but I wonder if the design lends itself to being just that little bit tighter. If you have larger arms you will almost definitely need to purchase a larger cuff not only for comfort but for more accurate readings.

This is a good blood pressure monitor- well made and efficient at its task. It comes with a small cuff which is right size for most adult arms- but those with larger arms and more weight to carry will need to buy a larger cuff to go with the device if they are to achieve accurate readings. The key question with these devices is "Who needs one?" I think most patients (self included in this) with high blood pressure could use one to their benefit. The initial diagnosis of high blood pressure is best made by a 24 hour blood pressure monitor- which is organised either via the GP or the local hospital. Where monitors come in is in allowing patients to get a feel for their blood pressure over time, and whether treatment for it is working or not. The issue is really one of having enough readings made to get a clear picture of the blood pressure level over time- rather than snapshot reading at GP or hospital visits. This allows doctors and patients to work more collaboratively to work out how much the blood pressure needs to be reduced.BP monitoring is particularly helpful for patients with "white coat hypertension"- those whose blood pressure rises just because they are in front of a doctor. If the home monitoring readings are readily available it can allow a more accurate assessment of the patient's usual blood pressure. There's two errors in treating hypertension- not lowering the blood pressure enough and over treating it and lowering it too far. The more readings of blood pressure there are over time to work with the better for both doctor and patient, and the easier it is to steer a middle course between these two problems. If you want or need to keep an eye on your blood pressure a monitor like this is useful.

This is a good value option for monitoring your blood pressure at home. The main box is quite large but does use its size to have a decent LCD display. The procedure for measuring your blood pressure is quite straight forward. You insert one end of the air tube into the main box and then put the cuff around your upper left arm. The best way to get an accurate measurement is to sit quietly and still on a chair with your left arm resting on a table (I did this in the dining room) and the bottom of the cuff a couple of centimetres above your elbow joint.Once you are ready, you press the single "start" button on the main box and the cuff inflates and deflates over the course of a couple of minutes. The box shows the current pressure and when it is done displays a reading of your systolic and diastolic pressures and your heart rate as well as a simple bar graph "rating" the readings in green, yellow or red.The readings were in line with what I would expect and it feels like a decent piece of medical kit. It does store up to thirty readings but the way you retrieve them is a bit odd. You hold down that one start button for a few seconds and it shows you the readings, cycling through them automatically backwards in time. I think you'd probably be better off making your own note of each reading in a spreadsheet. All in all, a decent value solution for measuring your blood pressure at home. If you are in the market for something a little more fancy I highly recommend looking at the WiThings Wireless Blood Pressure monitor. It does all the same things but in a much more nicely designed (and pricier package) and also automatically synchronises the results with your smart phone and with the web.

My wife was loaned an A&D blood pressure monitor by the NHS last week, and that's why I selected this one. There are so many brands to choose from but this is the only one I know of that is approved by the World Health Organisation and trusted by the NHS. With more than one person with heart issues in my household, accurate readings are important and first impressions are that it's working perfectly. All four of us used the NHS loaned monitor last week and the readings from this new (UA-651) device are consistent with the readings from that device. What's more, I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation (AF) years ago and I can confirm that this device reliably detects the condition.I took my blood pressure five times and the AF indicator lit up next to the BP results every time. When my wife and two sons took their readings, the AF indicator did not light up... which is accurate because they do not have Atrial Fibrillation! I'm really very impressed that such an inexpensive blood pressure monitor can detect such a condition. As for the sleeve - even though it's the same brand and size as the one loaned by the NHS last week - it seems of much better quality. It's thicker, the velcro seems of better quality, and it doesn't crease or pinch. As for the fit, one of my sons is 6'2", me and my other son are 5'8", my wife is 4'11", we are all around average weight, and the sleeve fits us all.Using the device couldn't be easier. Attach the strap and press a button. That's it! It also comes with a little carrying bag and monitor, sleeve and instructions all fit inside perfectly.Did I already mention how impressed I am with this thing? Because I really am. :)

This is a clear, well made blood pressure monitor. I think my own doctor has this model as it is identical, so if it is good enough for the doctor it is good enough for my family.Has a clear digital display that shows Systolic, diastolic and pulse and also has an added irregular heartbeat feature.Comes with one unit, one "slimfit" cuff, instruction manual and 4 AA batteries.Literally is so simple to use, place the supplied batteries into the battery compartment. Fit the cuff to the upper arm, using the wrap around velcro cuff, plug the end of the cuff cable into the side of the unit and press the button to start it. The cuff inflates until it is quite snug on the arm, then releases and gradually lets the air out, until it gives your reading. Can store up to 30 readings and gives you an average reading. Also has an indicator level as to high blood pressure, borderline, and within normal range, via a green, yellow and red indicator marker.Whilst this is a good unit and I presume it is giving me accurate readings, the "slimfit" cuff is very snug indeed, so I imagine for most families you may need to invest in the bigger cuff, which you can get from Amazon, although is pricey at £19.99 for the large. The cuff supplied is really only suitable for children and very slim people, so is not ideal for my husband and I who have slightly larger upper arms.Claims to be latex and metal free, which is good for those with a latex allergy, as they can use this unit and cuff without any issues. On the whole, I believe this is a good quality and very professional unit simply for home use, and it would probably be more than adequate for a doctor to use it.

I was interested to try this blood pressure monitor at home, as I've a friend who has mentioned to me that she herself has a similar one at home and checks hers herself. I wondered how easy it would be to use and how much it would inform me as to understanding the results. It's a small compact unit, it came with the required four batteries in the box, and was easy to start using, all you have to do is put on the cuff and fasten it, then press the start button. The display is clear and it is easy to read the figures on there, which show blood rpessure and pulse rate. My husband tried it and it fitted well on his arm, however for myself it didn't fit as well,so if you are a little larger you may need a larger size cuff - this one specifies that it is for 22-32cm, and the cuff is meant to velcro fasten on to a certain area marked on the cuff, and depending on the diameter of your upper arm, it may or may not fit there, so this is worth checking before purchasing. I think I would have needed the large adult cuff instead really. In terms of what the numbers mean, or what the 'normal' range should be for blood pressure and pulse rate, I could not find any information regarding this in the box, so I looked this up myself on the web. On reading the instructions fully I see that there is a WHO classification indicator, the coloured areas on the left-hand side of the display giving you a broad indication of where your results lie. It's a handy gadget to have at home and would give you a good guide if this is something you would like to be able to monitor more regularly for yourself. There is a memory which retains the last 30 readings taken I believe.

I thought this might be complicated to use but I've found it very easy. It comes with four AA batteries which need to be installed but after that it's almost ready to go. The cuff and the tube require no assembly other than connecting the tube to the machine. There are symbols on the cuff which help with its positioning, mainly lining it up with the main artery and the adult range for fastening. Once tightly secured, pressing start inflates the cuff a couple of times and it goes through its measuring process. The LCD display shows the inflation and a heart symbol flashes while it is measuring. Finally when complete it shows the systolic pressure, diastolic pressure and pulse rate.It will also show if it detects an irregular heartbeat. There's also a battery indicator. The supplied instruction leaflet explains systolic and diastolic pressure but more information can be found on the internet or in books; nothing that comes with the monitor explains what the ideal blood pressure range for an adult should be.The machine has a memory that will store 30 results. Holding start begins a display and it cycles through them, but this takes a bit of time and there is no way to control it. I don't find this feature very useful because the details of various people would have to be recorded in order to make sense of the data, and the data might as well be recorded at the same time. If someone were just using it on themselves it might be a little more useful but it doesn't record the date or time.Overall I'm finding it quite useful to have. I'm confident in its accuracy as it seems to be consistent.

If you are looking for a blood pressure monitor, the A&D UA-611 is a very good option. It's very easy to use, and comes with everything needed, including batteries. You put the cuff on your upper arm following easy to understand instructions. Then press the start button. And that's it. The cuff automatically inflates and gently deflates, and the readings appearsreading on the small monitor. The process only takes about 40 seconds, and is by no means uncomfortable. The cuff is marked clearly to help ensure it is correctly applied. The monitor data is clear and easy to read.As well as systolic and diastolic readings, the monitor also shows pulse rate and WHO blood pressure classification (from Optimal,Normal, to Severe Hypotension) which is especially useful if you are unsure about interpreting the readings. The monitor also checks for irregular heartbeat, which is another useful feature. The monitor can store the past 30 readings, allowing it to present previous readings or display an average -- useful for getting a better overall measurement. However, the monitor doesn't allow groups of readings to be stored for two or more people. Also you can't manually scroll back and fore through the previous readings, instead when viewed, the monitor displays each for a few seconds, automatically scrolling from newest to oldest. These limitations will not be a concern for most users, but are something to bear in mind if you wanted those specific features.

My Wife suffers from occasional high blood pressure and has been told that it needs to be continuously monitored, so every two weeks or so has to go to our local doctors practice to see the nurse, and have her blood pressure checked. So this was obviously a worrying time for her, and she wanted a blood pressure monitor of her own so that she could measure it on a daily basis. We opted for this model due to the good reviews (we had previously bought a watch strap type monitor which was useless and returned it). Well this arrived ahead of it's delivery date, and it looked up to the job. Well every time she measured her blood pressure, even a few minutes apart, she got widely differing readings,I to tried it and got the same result, up the first time, down the second time etc etc. So she will be taking it to her next appointment with the nurse (two days time) and will check this one's readings against those from the practices equipment. Though I feel it will be a pointless exercise, and we will be returning this model for a refund, we shall see.Update, having seen the nurse and had her blood pressure checked using the nurses equipment, she then with the nurse present, did her blood pressure again using this equipment, surprisingly they both were more or less the same reading, the three digit first part was the same, and just a couple out on the lower two digit reading. In light of that, I have increased this equipments rating to four stars.

Blood pressure monitor by A@D MedicalI've had a blood pressure monitor for years as I have high blood pressure, this has been one that you useon your cuff and although pretty good you do tend to get some discrepancy with the readings, it has been OK asa general guide. But, This monitor is obviously much more modern and seems to be much more accurate.this is one that you place on you upper arm, same as in the Doctors with a separate box for the reading.Once you slip it up your arm you line up a dot with approx where your main blood flow is. You have tightened itat this point, not to tight, press the button on the machine and sit back and relax and in a minute or so you willhave your reading. You get Diastolic, Systolic and pulse readings, On the left of thepanel it shows where you are in general terms as to good, not so good or go to your Doctor. It appears to be well made and easy to use as it should be. there is also a memory for past readings. The instructions as you would expect are pretty good. The main unit requires batteries ( which are supplied)and these seem to last a good while. There are different arm sizes for different sizes of Humans so makesure you get the right one. easy to change if several people are using the machine, just a plugin and out.altogether a good package and seems to be accurate, Even if you only want an indication more than worthwhile.

Bought this to replace an old inaccurate and inconsistent Omron M4.It was very easy to get some initial readings without using the advanced Bluetooth functionality, it does not inflate the cuff more than it needs to, so it does not squeeze your arm too hard. The advanced bluetooth feature was easy to setup with a Samsung S7, it transfers the measurements fine to the A&D Medical App and a big plus point for their app does not require registration and does not seem to send your medical data anywhere. It does not get 5 stars for 3 minor reasons:-1) The supplied Smart phone app does not have the ability to export/share/print the raw data, you only get the ability to print a summary or share a screen shot. There are other apps that offer this functionality but a lot want to send your medical data to "The Cloud" and want to share it with the developers and or want you to buy a Pro version without being able to check that they actually function with the device.A&D Medical's App would be perfect if it offered the simple feature of exporting the raw data.2) You can only buy it with a medium sized cuff and after measuring the circumference of my arm various guidelines stated that arm circumferences over 33cm should use a large cuff otherwise considerable over estimation can occur. So I had to purchase

After a recent visit to my doctor, it was noted that my blood pressure was a bit high. It was the first time I’d ever had a higher than normal reading, so it was quite a shock. My doctor then said that I needed to have my blood pressure monitored for two weeks. This would have meant daily visits to my doctors surgery which isn’t that near to me. So I decided to buy one instead.Looking on Amazon, there are loads of options but I chose this one at a good price and it had a decent amount of reviews. It arrived the following day through Amazon Prime. It’s easy to set up - you just have to push the hose into the unit and you are ready to go once you have installed the included batteries.A press of the button and it starts reading. Now I read on some reviews that it doesn’t pump up too much.... it has to so that it can read your bp. Within about 30 seconds you have your reading as well as pulse rate. A good addition is that there is an indicator on the side to inform you your grading for high (note: not low) blood pressure. When I went back to my doctors, I took the machine with me and asked to compare to the machine my doctor had and found that this was very accurate. So I would recommend this to anyone looking for a decently priced home blood pressure monitor.

This is a decent Blood Pressure monitor that ticks all the boxes. The reading is large and clear and of course digital,The cuff if you can call it that is for the upper arm and will fit most arms from a child's up to most adults. The trouble is as it's an upper arm band I imagine quite a few will go for the XL version option.Should you do need a larger 'XL' one then the manufacturers can provide one.The instructions are very clear and precise. They tell you how to set up and use this device very simply. If you are buying a device like this I presume you don't need me to pad out my review by repeating them.(The blurb on Amazon gives you the price per gram which I feel sure is of no use what soever)The unit has all you need including the four AA batteries needed to power it up.A nice touch was the battery indicator- this avoids the situation where when you want to use the machine you cannot because the batteries are flat. And that is about it.This is a good device that does its job well, is a more up to date device than the one you presumably have or if this is your first device then this is a good one.Thank you for reading my review I sincerely hope it has been of help to you.I wish you good health.
