I've tried a few mascaras in the past that use the fibre technology to add volume and length to your lashes but with pretty bad results. Each time I've been left with clumps and flaking, resulting In panda eyes and black smudges down my cheeks. I've also found they made my lashes and eyes feel kind of heavy so I was pretty sceptical about trying another but I was willing to give it a whirl. The packaging was very familiar and similar to other loreal mascaras I own so I knew it was a Two-step mascara which I'm pretty used to by now but I made sure to read the instructions which were included. I applied the first coat which was marked '1' which is always pretty handy. It went on well like a nice smooth black primer.The next step was to apply coat '2' which was the fibres but the instructions didn't say whether to wait for the first stage to dry or to whack it straight on after so I decided to give it a few seconds for the first primer coat to become tacky but not dry and it seemed to work. On putting on the first coat of the two stages it did make my lashes look longer but as most people, I wanted more 'oomph' so I added another 2 coats of each stage. My eyelashes looked longer then ever but they lacked that fat lash look I was after but seeing as my eyelashes are pretty small and stubby, I was more then happy with the length this mascara gave me. After finishing my makeup I went out for the day and encountered harsh winter weather as well as stuffy indoor central heating in busy shopping malls and on a few occasions even had a quick rub of my eyes but by the end of the day I didn't have that heavy feeling I usually get with these style of mascaras and it hadn't budged of smudged and there were none of those pesky fibre flakes anywhere to be seen. I've used a number of Loreal primer+mascara combination mascaras before and I've always loved them, I think if you're on the lookout for a mascara primer it's the most convenient thing to have it in the same tube as the mascara (and better for travelling as well!). If you can't be bothered with a primer perhaps this isn't exactly for you as you'll be wasting half the product.However, I've always felt primer does a great thing for my lashes. They're very downward facing (hardly hold a curl!) and also short, plus almost every mascara I've had will smudge and wears off so in my case it's really worthwhile to use a primer so the mascara itself hangs on.While I've had great results with loreal primers in the past this one is special because it's a dark primer, not stark white as in the past! That's a huge difference to me as my lashes are black. I've never come across a black primer before and though it can be confusing (almost mixed the two ends up one time!) I definitely find it super innovative, unique and useful.Now for the mascara itself. As I mentioned before, mascara smudges on my a LOT so from the moment I found fiber mascaras I've never ever looked back. So it was a huge plus to me that the False Lash Superstar was a fiber mascara! It really adds length and if you've had problems with mascara smudging like me then please give this a try!One thing though, I find that fiber mascaras don't really help with volumnising, it's more of lengthening. So if you've long lashes and want more volume then this might not be for you, also perhaps not for you if you like natural lashes but have very fair hair as this is super intense black (which I think is amazing).So in total, I've loved this mascara, pretty purple packaging as well and no issues with the brush whatsoever! There is no secret that I am huge mascara fan. If I was forced to choose only one product for daily use – good mascara will be an answer. I tried multiple L’Oreal mascaras through past years and always liked their formulation and brushes available. Couple days ago I received new L’Oreal Superstar X Fibre mascara in black, and have to say since day one it’s been my absolute favourite. I absolutely adore false lash effect on eyes, but due to being contact lens wearer I barely have patience to go through all hassle with glue falsies every occasion that I want to achieve glam look. So for start. L’Oreal Superstar X Fibre mascara is two step system with primer and “false lash effect” fibres,to achieve falsies effect without all glue - waiting fuss. Previously I used similar system and I was not a huge fan of it, mainly due to white primer provided with mascara (Superstar). Here is different story. Firstly – primer equipped to Superstar X Fibre is pitch black and can be used as normal lengthening, thickening mascara, which is great.Secondly – fibres are extra easy to use, got great consistency and wet formula, so no fallouts, fuss or irritation even with sensitive eyes or contact lenses.L’Oreal Superstar X Fibre in black is just an answer! It gives lovely effect without being dry – hard and crispy. Instead is very soft and easy to maintain, as well as very buildable and easy in application. Just one coat of the fibres works really well for me. I found out that my lashes are not only thickened and lengthened but curled too! No need for eyelash curler. It lasts nicely as well. After 6h at work I find no patches, dry fallouts or stamps. Great!I highly recommend this product and I will purchase another when I will finish this one. For sure! Mascara which can produce a false lash effect produces some feelings of trepidation, false eye lashes can give a subtle boost to the eyes of can look really OTT, heading towards a pantomine dame. A double ended product appeals as one hopes to be able to control the effect.There are no instructions other than the product is labeled at each end 1 and 2. Being conventional I started with the end labeled you've guessed '1' So the products is at each end, hold the middle and unscrew. The brush is quite long- bristles not the jagged plastic teeth in some products, but it is shaped so wider at the top and bottom. It easy easy to apply. The No. 1 seem quite thick hard to get a smooth effect without lumps.So seems reasonable to then apply No 2, but can this go straight on or should no.1 dry for minutes or hours first? No. 2 is a much thinner, gives a really good application without lumps. The brush is a different shape, still bristles but a curved brush. Would use the product just for mix 2.! I guess you could swop the brushes over? So after 20 mins I applied each product on top of the other and got a thicker effect. It was better I found applying No 2 then No 1.The label peels back to reveal the palest grey tiny writing with the ingredients which contain no. 1 water, paraffin cetyl alchol, beeswax, carnuba wax, stearth 20, bis-digylceryl, hydroxymethyle cellulose, phenoxy ethanol, tribehenin, palm oil!! sodium lautheth sulphate, stearyl alcohol, plus a ton of other chemicals! no 2 ingredient list starts also with water and paraffin, and then suggests the label requires further peeling to reveal the contents, several finger nails, tweezers and a bright torch failed to reveal the list. If the contents are important then lets hope the manufacturer lists them else where!

L'Oreal Paris False Lash X-Fibre is certainly a mascara which does add body to the eyelashes and is an effect which I do like. There are two mascara wands, one on each end of the mascara. Number 1 is the primer and it is well marked with a huge "1" which allows you to put on the correct product on first which really does add to the definition and build of your eyelashes. I also found this seemed to add quite a bit of body to my lashes which I badly needed.The "2" marked end is the mascara and I personally loved the blackness of this as it really aided my eyes to stand out especially as I wear glasses,and now my eyes are not disguised with the glasses as this excellent mascara certainly adds to my eye cosmetics and helps them to be more noticeable and simply now my eyes are noticed as well as the frames of my glasses.The only one small flaw I have noticed is there are tiny fibres which surround the brush head, I presume this is what builds the lashes up. Sometimes they can catch onto my lashes and cause slight irritation. I simply now be very careful when adding mascara to the wands then before applying I would take a tissue to remove some residue of the wand. I have included a couple of photographs which shows these fibres in more detail.I love this mascara as it delivers on every promise it makes and for that reason alone I am happy to recommend L'Oreal Paris False Lash X-Fibre as it thickens and lengthens my lashes helping them stand out to be noticed rather than being hidden away behind my specs.

I could not wait my cute little box to arrive.I never ever go out without mascara, because I have short and thin lashes. I do not use falsies or extensions because I find them very uncomfortable but I like to have visible lashes. L’Oreal Paris False Lash Superstar X Fiber Mascara gives me ultimate false lash look, without the hassle of false lashes or eyelash extensions. It is just perfect and innovative.False Lash Superstar X Fiber is the mascara I always dreamt about. I no more need to choose between length or volume because 1 mascara has 2 totally different brushes. I'm very fussy about mascaras and have yet struggled to find one as good as L'Oreal's beauty tubes mascara. Every mascara I try is subconsciously compared to this one! There are lots of pros about this mascara: the primer is black so you don't need to worry about covering up any white bits and the brush is excellent; it really allows you to get into the corners. The "step two" formula has fibres in it and unlike other fibre mascaras I've tried in the past this was not irritating at all. I have very straight, short and sparse eyelashes so finding an effective mascara can be a challenge let alone one that makes you look like you're wearing false eyelashes! There is room for improvement in the efficacy of this formula.It doesn't create the volume you would expect from a two-step mascara nor the length you would expect from a fibre mascara. The fibres create a rough texture which is unnatural looking and probably best kept for smokey or evening looks. Also, what I love about the beauty tube mascara is that it only comes off with lots of warm water and does not smudge. This one does smudge just from everyday where - not something I'm used to. It does come off easily thought which is certainly a plus. This is not my favourite L'Oreal mascara - more length and staying power would be preferred. So far I have used this mascara twice; once for work to see how it works for a minimalist everyday look (using only the end marked 1), and once to give it a go not putting my false lashes on for a night out (using both ends 1 and 2 as the instructions say). I would have to say compared to mascara I've bought at a similar price overall I like the product. It worked perfectly for the look I wanted for work after only a quick application, and female colleagues commented positively on the noticeable difference in coverage of this mascara, compared to my normal mascara. On both occasions it definitely gave my eyelashes length, and the design of the brushes easily got to my shorter lashes giving me the fuller look I wanted.Only thing I would say is I didn't want to repeat the process as it would just have been too much, it was a bit thick and was bordering on heavy with just one coat from each side for my night out! Next time I use it I've decided less is more with this mascara, especially to prevent my eyelashes clumping, and so I can curl them better. It's not quite there to replace my false lashes, but it's definitely a decent enough mascara if you are going without them or don't use them! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I was really excited to give this a try as I'm always on the look out for that perfect mascara that will give me lovely thick long lashes, at first I thought it was going to be a bit fiddly having to swap between the two sides each time but I normally always give my lashes a couple of coats anyway so found that once I got used to swapping between the two it was completly fine and putting the primer on first and then the actual mascara really helped to lengthen and thicken my lashes so I was really impressed as I've never used a double ended mascara before. The only thing I did notice though was that it dried very quickly - which is a good thing in itself as you know once you've finished yourmascara it's not going to smudge and rub off everywhere like some mascara can but it means you have to work super fast when you're applying it - the best way I found to apply it was to work on one eye at a time - do the primer and the mascara on the first eye and then go on to the second eye, once you've done both eyes you can then always give both eyes another coat at the end if you want to really amp it up some more but this really worked for me and my lashes stayed lovely and in place all day! It's been a while since I've found an amazing mascara that works on my lashes and to be honest I wasn't expecting anything amazing. I have next to no lashes and find it hard to find a mascara that can make them look longer and last all day. I was intrigued to using a black primer first as I have tried white ones before but never a black one. The packaging on the X Fiber mascara is really pretty. I love the purple used. The brushes on both ends of the mascara looked really nice so I was excited to try these. I tried the number 1 volumising black primer first and I felt it didn't really do much for me so I then tried the step 2 lengthening fibers and I did notice a little volume and length.But it wasn't as much as I was expecting so I repeated the steps 3 times and I couldn't believe the look I had achieved! My lashes had never looked longer and volumised. I had been at work all day and when I came back I checked my lashes and they were still the same as the morning. I love this mascara! The only downside I found was it is a little time consuming having to repeat the process 3 times if your in a rush but it is something I would definitely use again because it worked so well for me. I love the fact that the primer is black rather than white which previous ones have been. This made my lashes look quite long even before adding the fibres on. The fibres went on well and I didn't seem to have any clumping. Any accidental smudges on my face or eyelids with the primer or fibres were easy to remove with a cotton bud - just seemed to come off onto the bud rather than smearing.My eyelashes did look great after using it. I have tried 1 coat up to 3 - 1 coat looks dark, long and thick but not TOO much, 3 coats looks very dramatic and good for an evening out.The only downside is that towards the end of the day I notice that the tips of my lashes have smudged onto the top of my eyelid which I then have to wipe off.My lashes don't feel crispy or dry with it on. It's easy-ish to remove with eye make up remover - however it does take more work to get it out of the base of my lashes.Packaging looks great, results are good but it does take more time to apply as it's 2 steps for 1 coat which isn't great when trying to get ready in the morning with less time! My lashes do look dark and dramatic with it though but it's shame about the smudging onto the eyelid. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

The mascara arrives inside a classy looking mascara sized cardboard box.This 'L'Oreal False Lash Superstar X fibre' mascara is contained inside an elegant metallic purple mascara barrel. The barrel is in an hour glass shape which unscrews at the centre to reveal two mascara wands. One of the wands is in a curved shape and the other is in a spiral shape. This mascara is a good size at 16.2cm in length x 1.8cm in diameter.The screw section has a smooth action and removal of the wands from the barrel is also smoothly done and does not leave any black mascara residue on any of the edges of the barrel.One wand and its corresponding barrel contains volumising black primer which you apply first thenusing the other wand you apply the black fibre mascara.I have been using this primer and mascara for coating my top and bottom lashes on a daily basis ... and I love it. It is very easy to apply and following the two steps, evenly coats the lashes in black mascara. After application my lashes looked immediately thicker and longer ... without clumping, or shedding or irritation ... however it's not easy to remove. I find I have to apply a waterproof eye makeup remover a couple of times to remove this mascara before bed.

This isn't a mascara for a mini make up bag. Compact it is not, in fact it's the largest mascara I have ever seen.However, it's a good one to have if you are forever ferreting for the mascara you carry loose in your big bag for emergency touch-ups.The reason for the bulk is because it's not just a mascara but a mascara plus a separately added primer with its own wand.One end of the container is the primer that you apply first, marked 1, the other is the mascara itself, helpfully marked 2, I'm not sure the primer really helped in itself, but the brush is a useful shape for getting everything lifted and separated ready for the false lash look.It's not a one coat and run mascara,you need a couple of applications at least to get a genuine look resembling falsies, but you do get somewhere near it. It's got good staying power.I didn't go for the full lash look as I have high cheekbones and big lashes just bat off them leaving spider trails. I was impressed with what I got though.I'd recommend a decent waterproof make up remover as it doesn't remove too easily – I needed to use cotton wool pads well soaked with L'Oreal eye make up remover to get it to shift, despite the fact I hadn't applied it really thickly.

I've wanted to try these mascaras for a while to see what the fibre's felt like, my eyes can get irratable sometimes and was worried the fibre would be itchy, I didn't need to worry as they were fine and didn't really feel any different to other mascaras in that way. I like the two sided application and it was clear and easy to understand how to apply. I started with one coat for a natural look at work, put the primer on and then added the fibre side. I felt like my eyelashes felt quite stiff at first but that seemed to pass after a short while. The mascara gives good coverage and my lashes looked long. For a night out I used two coats of the mascara,it felt it was a bit hard to apply a second coat as they make your lashes a bit stiff at first, I continued though and the build up gives your lashes a full look! I like how the wands are at both sides in one package, but wasn't too keen on the metallic purple colour of the pack, I think it could have looked higher quality with a less flashy more understated look. Overall a great mascara, good colour and coverage and no problem taking it off in the evening with baby wipes or my make up remover. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I remember when fibre mascaras came out and you had the white end and black end. The white never made sense to me, and luckily this one is black! You start with step one and add the balck fibres, inteally loke the brush for the fibres and they catch all the lashes. As my lashes are reasonably long some of them were actually too long with the fibres so I had to take a few bits off the end, this was for work though and I'd have kept them as long for an evening out.2nd stage is a mascara and this has a curved brush. I'm not keen on curved brushes and would have preferred the same style but this is personal preference and I'm sure some people would rather have it curved.In the day I only use one application,the pack states you can use up to 3 for a fuller look and I imagine this would give great results.People noticed I was wearing something new, it wore well through the day and didn't go black under my eyes. Also none of the clumping that I had come to associate with the fibre mascaras, lashes separate well didn't look caked up.Overall very pleased and will certainly keep using.
