If you don’t have much space, finding somewhere to dry underwear or tea-towels can be a problem. Even if you have space for one of those floor-standing concertina dryers, you then have the problem of where to store the dryer when it’s not in use. This very small and elegant dryer addresses both the space and the storage problems. It folds away to a neat white bar that only sticks a few centimetres into the room, but when it’s extended it gives you five white wires over which to hang your washing to dry.It hangs on the wall using two screws. The supplied wall-fixings assume you have solid walls: you may need something else if you have plasterboard. To open, you fold out the wings to ninety degrees, then pull out two tabs that bring the wires out. The mechanism is quite neat; you need to pull equally on both sides, but the mechanism seems robust.I’ve fitted mine above an infrequently-used door. It’s about the same width as the door, so looks fine. If you do this, make sure it’s on the side the door opens away from, and remember there’s a lintel above doors. It makes the rack slightly awkward to reach, but I don’t have any other available wall-space, and it means I have drying space I simply didn’t have before. It’s enough for five t-shirts or tea-towels - not a lot, but enough if you live alone. You can apparently also fit these dryers outdoors, although then you’re at the mercy of the weather. Other than the stainless-steel hinge pins there’s no exposed metal. The majority of the unit is made of the same sort of tough white plastic that domestic appliances are made of.If there’s one little thing I don’t like, it’s that there’s a lip that means that you need to close the left side before the right side. I don’t really see why that is necessary - I'd like to be able to shut both sides simultaneously. It’s a very minor point though, and even I have got used to closing it that way round.

A small dryer yet pretty sturdy and easy to fit. A caveat, though, especially if you have bad shoulders, is that it is quite stiff to open and close it.I managed to get this fully fitted in under ten minutes. It's very simple: there are two screws to support it so all I really needed was a drill, screwdriver and spirit level. That said, though, I didn't fancy using the flimsy-looking screws and plugs supplied, so opted for some heavy duty rawl plugs and decent screws.Once up, it looks a little like a florescent light (when closed). I've put it shirt/t shirt height above a radiator and it is fairly well obscured by a door when not in use. To open it, you simply open the two arms out and then pull two tabs towards you,to bring out all the rails. A final pull, clicks it into place and you simply reverse this procedure to close it again.A potential problem I found is that it is very stiff to open and close it. This may or may not change over time and I will update my review if it becomes easier. Whilst this wouldn't normally present such a problem the fact it is around head height could make it difficult to use if you have bad shoulders and my elderly mother couldn't manage it.Other than that, it is very useful to have around. By using it in combination with coat hangers and one of those circular mini hangers (for socks and underwear) I can get a fair amount of washing onto it.

Leifheit Telegant Wall Dryer - 30 Protect, 70 cmThis is a clever and well-executed idea for providing a little extra drying space in the home. It's a simple plastic device that attaches to the wall by two screws (supplied, with two wall plugs) - just hang the device on the two screws and the weight holds them in notches on the back. The device collapses almost flat to the wall then pulls out when needed with a series of interconnected arms that pull out horizontally and then provide an extra 3 metres of drying space. That's not much - you could hang up 10 tea towels, for instance. However, is space is tight, it's a welcome addition. This could fit over the bath to hang out hand-washed underwear, for instance. The elaborate design means that, once one of the interlocking parts goes, the whole device stops working. However, any fears about lack of durability should be allayed by the fact the device comes with a 3-year guarantee. For sale at the time of writing this review at £28 (RRP £34.99).

IDEAL=====It's the type of dryer that's ideal for an apartment. I had the opportunity to stay in my friend's apartment in sunnier climbs and installed this there for the duration. It was perfect. Dry clothes! It could manage a full wash!WALL====It's a wall-mounted dryer and when I returned this replaced another wall-mounted dryer, which has been in place for yearsThe Leifheit clothes dryer is much better. It looks modern and smart. The plastic bits have a high-quality finish and are resistant to twisting even when folded up.The "lines" are quite firm and it all folds rather neatly.LOAD======I initially though it wouldn't take a load of heavy towel, but the 'load-bearing capacity'is good.INSTALL=======Installation is simple, screws and plugs are included. After opening the front covers, the mounting holes are visible. Place a spirit level on top, mark holes, drill, tighten, finish.. Quite simple and fast.NICE====A nice clothes dryer.

This wall dryer is quite a clever idea, it is very easy to put up and comes with the two screws required for fitting against a wall. It is made of fairly sturdy white plastic and when folded measures 73cm in width x 6.7cm in height x 5.3cm in depth and when it's fully open it then measures 73cm in width x 37cm in depth x 6.7cm in height. So as you can see, it is quite a space-saving piece of kit.We have installed the wall dryer in our utility room neatly above a work surface and the main thing we use it for is either for drying T-shirts or drip drying any garment that needs it (we place a large tray on top of the work surface under the dryer for drip drying purposes). This dryer has five strong metal rods which pull out neatly from the wall when required.I am very impressed with this wall drier from Leiftheit, it is so very useful and works exactly as it should. I have no problem in recommending this product.

I think this simple product is a great space saving design if you don’t have space for a clothes horse. The product comes supplied with screws and wall plugs but I used my own to attach to a plaster board wall in my utility above a small radiator. It’s very easy to fit and once fitted its hardly noticeable against a white wall.Once the two arms are opened out you have to be quite forceful to extend out the drying lines. It is quite a small unit so doesn’t hold much but when I do a mixed wash there are only a few items that can’t go in the tumble dryer for which it is ideal.By far the best thing about this product for me is the fact that it folds away flat which is perfect for someone with not much space,I think the larger ’72 Protect’ may have been better for me and I might upgrade at some point. For build quality, robustness, design and value for money I think this is a great purchase and worth 5 stars.

Have 2 retractable washing lines alread for the weekly wash, but needed a small wash line for just those socks and undies and that one tea towel etc....I just hate to see washing lines out 24/7 especially over a patio or garden if thats where the washing goes, thats why i have retractable lines... and pulling it out for one or two items annoys me as it looks untidy... Got this yesterday quick delivery GREAT and already up and used today.....This is just great for those little odds and ends to dry on little pull out rods, without pulling out the washing line. It folds in so neatly and closed you would not even know its a little drying gadget....It is white and sits under my white UPVC conservatory window ledge and just looks part of the conservatory when closed.....Hope it lasts...it looks great and would definately buy this again in the future. Living in a small house with not much practical space for airing laundry, and having a 9 month old crawler looking for new ways to wreak havock, this wall dryer has solved two problems. It is surprisingly sturdy, and will take a family sized bath towel on the metal bar plus a good amount of washing on the five pull out rails. There is also space to hand a couple of bras or other small items at the ends of the pull out rail supports. We have positioned ours about three feet above the storage heater in our hallway which is ideal as the bath towel does not rest on the heater at all. The width of each pull out rail is generous enough to take a pillow case plus a pair of socks or a flannel, and I feel the pictues do not do this item justice, it feels well made and I am confident it will get plenty of use for some time yet.

This product is described as being "indispensable" - I'm not quite convinced about that but it is pretty useful. It is a hard, white plastic square tube, the front of which opens up. You can then pull out the washing lines giving a rectangle hanging space. It would need to be fixed very firmly to the wall as you have to pull out the lines quite forcefully. Very long screws are provided to fix the unit to the wall and I understand why when using it.This unit would be useful in an airing cupboard to give extra drying space or above a radiator and can be tucked away when not in use. When folded away it is not a particularly attractive unit but basic and utilitarian. The washing lines themselves aresturdy but with a little flexibility.Hopefully this will last for some time.

Leifheit has produced a very neat drying solution that takes up very little space for the amount of hanging area provided (closed it measures about 71 x 5.5 x 5 cms and it extends out a further 32 cm when opened i.e. protrudes 37cm from the wall in total). It feels well-made from smooth, robust plastic and comes with installation instructions (basically just drill a couple of holes) as well as the fixings. To use, you just need to open out the two flaps on the front, which is a smooth hinging mechanism and pull a lever to extend the rails (five in total). It then folds neatly back to occupy minimal space when not in use, leaving your bath, for example, unencumbered. It offers a very good space-saving solution for clothes drying.

These are incredibly useful. Fitting is straight forward (depending on the type of wall and one's DIY kit and abilities). It's worth using a spirit level unless there's already a horizontal guide such as tiles for example. If fixing to plasterboard I'd suggest either fixing a wooden batten to the wall if you can find a couple of the studs, or using expanding metal anchors and a setting tool. I say all of this because it's quite surprising how much clothing can be put on this dryer and it it is wet there can be rather a lot of weight hanging on the fixing anchors.I personally hate having washing hanging around but often there's little alternative but at least this dryer folds neatly away and ishardly noticeable.

Easy to install for anyone like me with moderate DIY skills, e.g. ability to use a spirit level, tape measure and a hammer drill (I used a pilot drill with hammer off first to avoid misalignment). Finished installation looks good and neat when closed. Didn't expect to use it for hanging heavy items - obviously not designed for that - but six hand towels / small bath towels straight from washing machine was no problem. Size appears to have caused difficulty for some, but product description says 72 cm not 70cm and that is what it is. Down from five stars only because I thought it a little expensive - price reduced by 14% after I bought it!

We have owned various different brands of wall dryer over the last 5 years and they were always that bit too bulky to justify the drying space provided. I love how compact this it when it not used. Its very flush to the wall and does not look cheap or tacky. It offers generous drying space and is hung in utility room where space is at a premium. For heavier items like Jeans i would hang over 2 bars but its robust enough to hold any items we have tried on it. Family members and friends have all been impressed and ordered this themselves so if you wondering whether to buy this or not , i can highly recommend.

We bought this as a replacement for the same item purchased 9 years ago!! It has been amazing. Used in the bathroom for our hand towels and drip drying small items. It finally gave up the ghost a couple of weeks ago, and we just could not do without it. The shop we bought it from has now closed, but found it on Amazon no problem, and it was cheaper!! One of your reviewers suggested it seemed flimsy, I can assure your customers it is very substantial. It arrived the next day on prime. Well packaged too.

I've been using this and the larger 100cm one for about 2 months and have installed them one above the other. Easy to put up. Folds away easily and neatly. Holds a large amount of washing and spacing between rails allows good drying. Much better than freestanding clothes horses which jam your fingers on closing and can be accessed by children allowing them to pull off the clothes and get tangled. Seems to be sturdy but need to carefully feed through heavy big items like jeans not just yank. Recommend.
