After several years of use I had to replace on old green rotary dryer which was already in place when we moved in a number of years ago. My mother used a Lift-O-Matic and I thought that would be best as it is possible to change the hight when needed. For some of the bedding or the rather long bath towels I like the rotary dryer just a little bit higher so that the washing does not brush the lawn. The thing to bear in mind when replacing any old dryer is that the diameter of the pole could be different. I was able to pull the plastic sleeve out of the concrete with no problems (alternatively it is wise to carefully measure the diameter) and took it with me to a store. It fitted the Brabantia rotary dryer perfectly,so that was reassuring but as it was more expensive in the store and rather long to transport in the car, I decided to order from amazon. No regrets. It is well made, the washing lines are not hanging in bows but always straight, it is a one hand operation to open it up like an umbrella, it is very lightweight and so we remove it for the winter season and place it in the garden shed, it is a very sturdy and strong construction which has coped with some very strong winds since we bought it last year. And because you can set the Lift-O-Matic to your own preferred height and can adjust this by moving the umbrella up or down inch-by-inch this is perfect for someone smaller, or when you want to air a heavy duvet on top of the structure. I do recommend to buy the Brabantia cover for it at the same time, to keep it always clean. Excellent buy!

I was dubious about getting a rotary drier as I have always had a line but when ours had to go this seemed a good idea. We bought the larger drier - 60m? - and there is so much hanging space, more than I really need. It would probably fit about four loads of washing on at a time (though unless it was a super sunny day it might not all dry evenly). I tend to only do a couple of loads at a time and as such there is room to space items apart to get some air in between. We used the spiky thing to go in the ground - we have not bothered to cement it in - and so far, so good. I tend to take it in each night so it doesn't weather so soon.I noticed today that one side of the lines has slackened off a little - I can't tell how this has happened as they are all individually strung. This doesn't affect the performance at all though.I am really pleased with this purchase. It was quite pricey but I expect it to last a long time (especially as we are not leaving it out all the time,The only slight annoyance is that one of the black bits from the end of one arm is missing. I had read other reviews that mentioned this and questioned the delivery person but he had no idea where it was. There are three others on the other arms but they are useful as you can hook things on through the little hole. Never mind. Over all, brilliant. Thank you, Brabantia.

A1 for robust construction without undue weight. Easy to use. LookI will join with others in criticism of the ground spike. It real is big long beast and in my opinion is over engineered.I live in an area that has limestone "rubble" below the topsoil and in spite of probing the soil first the spike still hit immovable object with 3 inches still sticking out of the lawn. Others might experience similar with bricks on new build sites. I resorted to digging the spike out, then broke the soil in the bottom usina very long drill but it was still 3 inches proud of the lawn.Solution?Remove 31/2 inches off the bottom of the spike with an angle grinder, level the top of the spike and use stone pieces and soil to ram pack the hole. Finally, cut removed turf to fit around the hole. Some might find the use of dry mix designed for fence posts more convenient.Easy peasy!! It only took two and a half hours! You might want to cut to the chase and do this to start with. There is better control of alignment. It stops all the problems of constantly correcting position only to ruin it again with the hammerOne advantage is that the hole is now open at the bottom and cannot collect water!Have fun.The washing line IS worth the effort

I am astonished at how good this is. I have always had cheaper and smaller ones. I love it, and my neighbours are all jealous :-)The lift feature (ie set it up low, put something heavy and sodden on it, then raise it is v useful for eg duvets, padded mattress covers and sofa covers. The length of the arms means I can get a double duvet cover on it easily without having to crinkle it up.I didn't have any issue with installing the ground post (in a bit of earth me and neighbours kid used for digging and pre-soaking the ground as recommended in instructions) and also haven't had any issue with the post getting damaged or the airer bending/wobbling over. I would recommend using something like a wooden broom handle to 'represent'the airer when malleting the stand in to make sure you get it straight. The cap for the ground spike being red works well for me (reduces chance of me losing it!).Its easy to get out and out away and I can leave my peg-baskets on it when I take it in (although this means I can't fully zip up the cover unless I do some jiggling with the line).

After about 20 years my old Brabantia finally buckled at the arms because I had re-threaded a new line and tightened it too much.I was pleased to see that the replacement had barely changed in design except for one thing. The line used to be one continuous section but now each segment is separate. This means that it is be easier to put up (less tension) and each section will be more evenly tensioned. I don't know how I would replace the individual sections of line and the instructions fall down there as they give no clue but I will cross that bridge when I come to it as they say. Our old Brabantia never had a cover so I think that probably meant the sunlight damaged the line plastic and it had to be changed more often as well as getting dirty. This model comes with a cover so I would recommend buying with the cover. I was also pleased that the pole fitted in the existing concreted in socket.I swear by Brabantia and it pays to spend a bit extra whether its a washing line, pedal bin or ironing board. My only slight criticism is that there is no maintenance booklet.

This is an early review, only had this up for 1 day so far. I’ll update on durability as let’s face it, this is pretty expensive for a washing line. I’ve only rated this as 4 stars overall due to price. If the product proves durable over the next few years I’ll upgrade to 5.We’ve had Addis ones before and generally they go rusty after a couple of years. We live in Wales and with all the rain the poles tend to be the first to rust way at ground level. This Brabantia came with a ground spike if you needed it. We already have a hole so it was a simple case of putting this one in it. The mechanism for opening up the line was easy and seems really well made and sturdy. The arms are wide and allow for a lot of items to be hung.Nothing massively special about this over a cheaper one apart from it having a thicker more sturdy pole.Somehow it seems a little shorter than our old one. The pole is much much thicker and hopefully will last longer than ones I’ve bought in the past. Only time will tell. It has a guarantee but hopefully won’t need to use it.

After suffering from collapsing rotary dryers for years, I have great hopes that this one will last and last. I like the easy to use lift and lower mechanism, the non-slip drying lines and the fact that each section of line is separate which avoids frustrating, saggy bits which have to be threaded back where they came from.Be warned - if you have heavy clay soil as per my garden, it may be a trial of strength and endurance to get the very substantial metal ground spike into the soil. However, it will be well worth the effort as it seems to be really secure and the line spins beautifully.Only minor criticism is that the disc shaped, plastic cover for the ground spike (which you use when the Dryer is put away)is bright red so can't be ignored. I understand why it's been made that way, it's never going to get lost or destroyed by a rampant mower but a green one would camouflage itself better.Thank you Brabantia, someone spent a lot of time and effort designing this.

The rotary drier itself is excellent. Folds, and opens smoothly, and is light. No issues with it at all.The dropped star is due to the difficulty I had with the ground tube. Now Brabantia are not responsible for what passes as soil in my garden, but ultimately I have had to accept that the ground tube will protrude out the ground, and that I had to cement it in place. This was all due to hitting something large and immovable while hammering the ground tube in (a process that I think would have taken about 15 minutes, had the ground been ok). I then had to dig out a hole to find out what was blocking the tube, and finally I had to cement the tube into place. No, I couldn't have just moved to drier to a different location, unfortunately. As I said, none of this is due to the product itself, and I'm not sure it's fair to drop a star because of it, but it's all just something to be aware of before you purchase.

I bought this product, because i think they are more tidy and practical in the garden. When collapsing and opening this rotary line which is very easy, but sometimes when opening the line gets twisted and you have to untwis some of it, but this does not happen that often. As I said I prefer to collapse it when not in use insuring that the line stays clean with the cover for the next time it’s going to be used. It is very easy to handle and remove from the soil spike, just in case you wanna have a garden party. Installing The soil spike was very easy, I just used a club hammer and a piece of wood to make sure that I didn’t damage the edge of the soil spike when banging into the ground.I have had this rotary line now for two years and it still going strong. Just remember to give it plenty of space before you bang the soil spike into the ground as this obviously turns when the wind is blowing.

For many, many years I had a Brabantia rotary line and we got along very well. Then it "died" and I replaced it, in a hurry, with a much cheaper version. We did not get along! The opening mechanism was like an umbrella and it took huge delight in trapping my thumb every time I opened it then sticking solidly open until I wasn't paying attention at which point it would swing shut taking the rest of the flesh off my poor thumb. After two weeks of that I finally "lost it" and threw the wretched thing across the garden hurling imprecations at it at the same time. I ordered this one as soon as I'd calmed down enough to use the computer. I've been calm ever since it arrived. It has a beautifully smooth opening and closing mechanism. It is sturdy without being heavy. It is easy to turn it into a flat dryer for jumpers etc and also very easy to store by its hanging loop. We get along very well.

Well here we are, I am finally getting around to this review, theres nothing like the passage of time to evaluate a products worth. This one is easy! Top quality and superbly engineered, we have been using this dryer since October 2014 and its now almost March 2021. This has honestly been absolutely faultless over the many years and seasons. My wife has had it spinning in high winds like a helicopter and it still comes back for more. What actually prompted this revue was that I have just needed to buy a replacement cover as the original has worn through. Mostly because it has lived in the garden in all season for 6+ years. If you are researching to find a fantastic garden dryer Stop! this is the one.As a lover of value for money the higher purchse price is worth every penny spent. I have not received anything for this review but really hope that it helps.

Beabantia household goods are top-notch and this is no exception. We decided to junk our 19-year-old rotary dryer and buy a new one. This is great and I particularly love the cover that comes with it. Somehow, when you slip on the back cover and zip it up, you just don't see the rotary dryer in the garden. It's hiding in plain sight. Love all the features and it slides up and down easily. You have to remember to move your head out of the way otherwise you can nearly get garrotted by the rising clotheslines. I haven't worked out how to make the top part slide down the pole yet but haven't bothered to study the leaflet. Guess that's my fault. It was initially difficult to get the holder in the ground – you need brute strength to sink it into the earth. Once done, however, you forget your efforts and simply enjoy the clothes dryer. Sad, but true!

I got this for around 9 months. Very solid, no sign of rust so far even though it was out all spring-summer-autumn. One of the inner lines snaped after a few months. We were careful with it so hopefully it was just a one off. I was not able to hammer the anchor into the ground as the ground seemed too hard, so I ended up conreting it in. The whole thing is very stable and survived the recent high winds (80-90mph gusts). Not sure how it would have faired without the concrete though. It takes a lot of clothes, I think around 3 rounds of wash. I didnt get a cover for it as it will be spending the winter in the garage so hopefully that will help elongate its life.Over it has not been a perfect experience, but overall still happy with it. Compared to my neighbourgh's cheap dryer it was definitely worth the money and would still buy it again.

This thing is chunky which gives it its great sturdiness but is also light weight. It's easily light enough for my wife to remove and carry if / when needed. I've given installation 5-stars not because it's easy but because Brabanti have made it about as easy as it reasonably can be. They give you a very decently sized, strong well design soil spike that you just need to drive into the ground. The driving-in is not easy - it took 30ish minutes of good effort for my son and I to do the job in relatively soft ground. However, this is much better than having to set the thing in a concrete block which I've normally had to do for less sturdy products. NB.you will need a heavy lump hammer or sledge hammer and a very strong piece of wood e.g. piece of old fence post, to do this job - make sure the ground is soft and hope you don't hit a stone.

Brilliant...I really regret not buying this sooner. Very sturdy with huge drying capacity. Brabanitia have thought of everything to make drying clothes outside easier. The ratcheted centre post enables you to adjust the arms to the height you want and makes putting in up and folding it v easy. The ends of the arms have helpful hooks for hanging shirts on hangers which I have found cuts down on ironing. The dryer is easy to remove for storage over winter or when not in use, with a plug to close the hole so that stones and grass etc don’t fall into the void. The only issue I had was in sinking the spear which holds the drier into position. This took a couple of goes as it’s critical to sink the spear in vertically otherwise your dryer sits at an irritating wonk. The spear is long, taking some effort to sink it flush to the ground.
