This item looked like excellent value for money when it arrived. A stainless steel tube and ample hanging line for our 3 person household. Its robust but relatively light. The line is thin as on most airers so you may need an extra peg or two. I did read a quite a few nit picking comments on here about similar lines but I have no qualms in recommending this line PROVIDED you get yourself a decent and accurate ground spike/stand.As with Robbie Sadr's review of the Brabanita soil spear I found the included plastic stand to have far too much play. Robbie quotes 54 to 55mm for the spear and this has to be similar. I dug a hole and set the stand in concrete. I used a Level to ensure a true vertical.I packed it in place with wood and concrete blocks to set perfectly upright. However when you put the Airer in its quite obvious that there's far to much play making for a less than perfect upright. Surely Brabantia are able to make both spikes and stands with a better tolerance than this.I would have given this item 5 stars without question but for the poorly fitting stand. I have ordered a soil spike for my patio. I have fitted these in the past by drilling out a cylindrical hole in the flagstone , drilling down to loosen up the the hard subsoil and hammering it home with a mallet.. Hopefully the spike I ordered will have a truer fit that the included item.PS ..now that the concrete has set its a little tighter so have upgraded to 4 stars..This is the plastic spike so not sure you will get any tightening with the metal one. Further Update. Forgiven it for the wobble. Proving excellent and in every day use.

This was bought to replace a succession of cheaper dryers that only seemed to survive for a couple of years before the plastic lines stretch and/or tangle making it difficult to put up the dryer frame. This is a much better designed device, made of heavier gauge tubing with individual strands of UV resistant line between the dryer arms. The base of the main pole has a rounded plastic insert that acts as a bearing, allowing the dryer to rotate freely in its ground spike and there are plastic ties built into the frame to hold the lines in place when it is folded. The frame runs easily up and down the pole and there is a simple ratchet mechanism to lock it in place, making it easy to put up and take down. The ground spike also comes with a bright red plastic insert to seal the hole to grit and water when the dryer is removed for storage.I would recommend a couple of tips if you purchase one of these:1. Invest about £12 in the Brabantia cover as well. This should prolong the life of the lines and keep them clean if the dryer is left out in the open when not in use.2. Getting the ground spike vertical when it has been hammered into a lawn can be challenging. Some long (3 - 6 inch) narrow wooden wedges can help to adjust the position once it is in the ground.Although this costs roughly twice what I have paid for lesser versions in the past, it shows every sign of being much better value for money. Overall you get what you pay for.

First impressions are: its tall! and thick! Looks of a sturdy built. Girlfriend (5ft) just about can reach the top line. The line, doesn't go all the way around so doesn't equalise length overall, rather each single piece is separate. Though the potential positive is if anything ever happens to a piece you can just replace that section without detracting from the original condition. Having said that, in previous lines nothing ever did!The most significant downside to this is actually when you need to pack it away, The arms are kept together by a plastic clip that goes around. Not half as convenient in this respect as my previous Minky, in which it had a friction catch for each arm to rest in.Its not a deal breaker still. The old Minky lasted 8 years until one day it was just resting against a wall and fell, breaking the plastic structure that holds the arms together and around the central pole. Other than that it was a stellar performant and had plenty of life left. Just shame I couldn't get the same one again. This one looks well built and hopefully will outlast the previous. Time will tell.

After two very disappointing experiences - one with Home Laundry product and one with Homegear rotary line (one star only here) I at last found a perfect rotary line. My old one after 20 plus years, finally died so I was in a bit of a pickle trying to find a new one, especially after two disappointments. The Brabantia topspinner is performing perfectly. Have now used it around 8 times since purchase, including hanging king size very thick cotton bedspreads which are used as throws on the sofa and chairs. Yes it is a bit high, but who wants their king size duvet cover trailing on the garden? Plenty of room for loads of washing, full king size bed linen change, full bathroom and kitchen towel wash and personal items too.It has an umbrella type of opening with three stages if the lines ever get a bit slack. Each line is individually strung allowing for tightening - it comes with a page showing how to do this. It circles freely in the wind and has a very sturdy ground spear.Love it. Only negative, for this price they should include a cover.

So far so good! Looks good in our new garden and was surprisingly easy to put in by digging a very narrow hole first, that fitted my hand and trowel, rather than risking the sledge hammer approach and damaging the ground spike. It took some time but patience was necessary! I then packed earth in the very small surrounding gaps using a very thin flat ended stick. I did use a bit of force for the last 2-3 inches by standing on a piece of wood placed on top of the spike and pressing down with my weight. The side ridges on the spike cut into the sides of the hole and fortunately, the soil proved to be surprisingly good quality all the way down.Digging down avoided the hazard of meeting a large stone of piece of builder's rubble as can happen on a new site. Any small stones were easily removed by hand. Nearly new house - new clothes line - job well done! Our previous house still has the original Brabantia rotary clothes dryer, still performing well after many years of efficient service.

I love this dryer!! It’s very well made all round. The wires are not and taut and strong, plenty of room on it. I love the way you just push up and lock in place etc, very good. Definitely recommend.Mind you, trying to get the spike in the ground is another story!! It half killed me!! It’s not very pointy. It is very well made, but my god is it hard work trying to hammer it into the ground, hammering onto some wood. My friend said he had one and said that I will never do it, he ended up buying a heavy parasol base and uses his that way.To be fair if you had a nice strong man and a fairly weighty hammer that may be easier. My hammer wasn’t that heavy, but I followed all of the instruction, using a spade etc and altered the ground trying to soften it, I finally got it in after three days of trying! And it had rained continuously all day the day before, but I ended up pulling a muscle in my side from all the hammering and going through several pieces of wood that fell apart.

Item was delivered quickly on a Sunday. I was not sure about the dimensions, in the end I've chosen the 40m version and I think that this is more than enough space unless you are a big family! After reading the other reviews I've prepared with some tools for planting the spike in the lawn. You create a cross with a shovel, just to make it easier to position initially. Then I've made it sink for a couple of cm with a rubber mallet and a piece of wood on top, using a spirit level to check that it was vertical. For inserting it, a 7lb sledgehammer did the trick. I suggest to check with the spirit level after every whack, just to make sure it's still OK.In the end it didn't take long for the spike to sink in the lawn. The dryer itself is quite lightweight to carry and insert. I've got a Brabantia cover as well (which fits perfectly) but in the end I will store it away. The dryer looks pretty solid and after all it has a 5 years warranty. Very nice!

The quality of this product is undeniable. In that sense I would rely on others to explain why in terms of its main attributes. I want to focus solely on how to fix it into the ground quickly and simply.MY METHODFix using self-mixing concrete. I used a bag with the brand name 'Postcrete'. The bag contains enough for one post or in this case the metal spike provided with the dryer. It took me 30 minutes to complete the job from start to finish.1. Dig a hole approximately 20 cm sq x 30 cm deep.2. Tap the metal spike into the bottom of the hole (10 cm only). At this stage vertical alignment needs only to be approximate.3. Fill the hole with water up to one third of its depth4.Fill the remainder with the dry Postcrete. It will mix and set itself.5. After no more than 10 minutes place the dryer into the spigot and align vertically using a spirit levelJob done! I left the finished job a couple of hours before using.

Once I plucked up the courage to hammer the ground spike into the lawn I was pleasantly surprised by how easy this was to put up! I made the cross cut in the lawn with the spade as shown taking care to keep the blade of the spade (not the handle) vertical. Then I hammered in an old broom handle, to make a pilot or guide hole, checking frequently with a spirit level. Finally I hammered in the spike, protecting the top with a block of wood as shown and frequently checking again with a spirit level.I had seen the horror stories about it being too high, hard to raise the arms, etc. I am 5'4" and can reach the lines easily though I do have it on the lowest setting; I have not tried the higher ones as this seems perfect.Pushing up the arms from the 'grip' on the central pole was very smooth and straightforward. It now moves easily and smoothly, both in the wind and as I turn it to peg out the clothes. Very pleased.

Ive had this rotary dryer quite a while now. It comes in if a gale is forcast and in the winter, but its mostly left outside all the time.It takes weight quite well I throw duvets over the top of it after they have drip-dried for a while (over a chair in the bath) and it handles that (I try to balance the weight though I dont think it would take it all on one side). It takes a lot of laundry. The only issue I have had with it is that the plastic bit on the bottom of the pole keeps dropping off, this has been happening for about six months.... its not everytime I bring it inside but its more than 50%. Its a pain to get the plastic bit out of the hole. I imagine it will spin without it,my previous rotary dryers didnt have a plastic bit on the ground end, but for now Im trying to think of a way to get it to stay on.

We bought this to replace our old rotary drier which broke after about 30 odd years of use. I did not want one with the handle you turn to raise the drier with so I got this one. So far, so good. It is a little larger than my old one but it has been great for drying sheets, towels etc. It is quite stiff to open out at first , but if you carefully pull one of the arms out towards you while trying to raise it from the ground, it does gradually get a bit easier. Do it gently though. I bought the cover separately to see if it would help keep the drier in good condition and clean. My husband installed the rotary drier for me and found it easy to install. Though it was quite physical as the ground where the cone had to enter was quite hard. The drier does shoogle (move about a wee bit) but that is not problematic to me.

After ordering and then returning the Brabantia Compact Rotary Washing Line Airer 50m because it was virtually impossible to put up the arms.(even with my husband helping). I ordered this one instead. I was delighted to find I could put up the arms and use by myself with no trouble. The line stays taught and I have no problem with the height. I am 5ft 6 ish. So pleased I didn't give up with Brabantia as they are a great design and very sturdy. I live on top of a hill and needed a substantial clothes dryer to withstand the strong coastal winds. Easy to install the metal spike which comes with it. We actually used postcrete because as previously stated, we are on top of a hill.Ample space for two machine loads. We also bought the cover and are very pleased with that too. Highly recommend this dryer.

Well after reading reviews on here and other sites we went for this one. It was easy enough to get out the box and though no real instruction, it was rather obvious as to do. ground spike again not very clear instructions but was easy enough...start it off and hit it using a bit of wood on top to protect the spike. Took a few minutes to get it down into ground though trying to get it to go so the rotary was sitting straight was not very successful, and its a wee bit of the square. I doubt it will affect it thoughIt very easy to put up and take down and remove from the ground spike. I have doubts though that once the ground it wet it will remain in the same position, time will tell on thatThe rotary is far better than the ones in homebase or B&Q or Argos and well worth the money

A good solid whirlygig.Massive, loads of space for our family of 4.Take towels & bed sheets a plenty.Obviously well made & it feels sturdy.Caught my boy swinging round on it like a lunatic.... No worries.A swine to install, the included ground spike is huge and it fought me every inch of the way.I broke my rubber mallet & had to just a spare fence post & sledge hammer which ended up like match wood.I ended up flooding the area with water & boring a hole with a massive wrecking bar, still every stone was in my area.Great airier, just buy the post for concreting in... Will be a lot easier unless your ground is soft (then it'll probably fall over).Just be aware there is a little bit of clearance from the spike cup to the pole so there is a bit of wobble.Smashing bit of kit.

From the demonstration video and pictures on the site had expected a different airer. The pictures show the airer being loaded half way down the pole and the pole is grooved so you can have different washing heights. Found it confusing so contacted Brabantia and had a speedy reply that the pictures show a liftomatic airer. For a week or more I couldn't lift the lines up the pole so had to had to ask my husband. Now found it is easier and can do it. It is rather tall and still requires strength. My husband had to buy a sledge hammer for the spike as we have clay soil but seems to be firmly in place.Just a little disappointed that I didn't get what I thought I was ordering but find the airerworks.
