This Leifheit Gourmet Slicer is both well designed and made. Although there are no instructions in the pack operation is intuitive. When you remove the lid and it reveals a compartment partially divided into two and you load your food - Parmesan, garlic, truffle etc. and put the top back on. To operate the device you twist and press down and slices of your product will be dispensed via the sharp but protected steel blades.I found this a very easy product to use and clean plus it's easy to store. The plastic blade cover lid means you can also store partially cut food inside the device in the fridge. You can slightly alter the thickness of slices by altering the degree of downward pressure you exert as you turn the device too.The slices look good and make an appealing garnish to foods such as pasta etc. The device comes apart into four pieces for cleaning and is easy to reassemble. The build quality is really good and this feels like a product that will last for many years plus it has a three year guarantee. Apart from its easy operation I like the fact that this unit is so compact and easy to store being only marginally bigger than a pepper pot. Recommended.

This is incredibly easy to use as well as being compact and easy to store. Remove the upper lid that includes the shaped plunger and insert the items to be sliced, for example, peeled garlic cloves. Replace the lid/plunger, lining it up with the 'leaf' inside. You can chop with the base cover on, but will quickly run out of space, so remove before chopping if this is the case. Push down on the lid and twist to slice into a flat based bowl or onto a chopping board to get even, fine slices of garlic, hard cheese such as Parmesan or Pecorino, shallots, carrots and so on.To clean, remove the lid, gently squeeze the pressure buttons on the inner container to release it and lift out. Remove the base cover,if applicable and carefully wash all parts in warm soapy water. Reassemble when dry.Includes a 3-year warranty.

The quality and build of it is great and somewhat faultless, but only if you're going to use it a lot does it seem worth it - if you're cooking with ginger or garlic a few times a week, it slices incredibly thinly exactly like recipe books suggest and what is difficult to do with a knife. However for my personal use and in my opinion it's a bit small, so you can really only do nubs of ginger or garlic or cubes of hard cheese, very specific things - it's too small for an onion without cutting it very small first, and it just seems a lot more faff actually getting it out than just using a knife.Overall, if you use a lot of garlic then it's worth it, it slices smoothly and is easy to use and clean. If you don't, seems a bit pointless and expensive for what it is.

Saw this on a recipe website and followed the link to Amazon. A very useful gadget for anyone who needs paper-thin sliced garlic to sprinkle over baked potatoes, Brussel-sprouts, broccoli, etc. Peel the garlic and arrange them in the chamber, put the stopper in and turn...and the hyper-sharp blades at the bottom slice away creating lovely translucent chips of garlic all over your dish. If you have garlic left: just cover the blades with the provided airtight cover and pop the slicer into the fridge for the next day( I personally would not leave it longer than that as it just looses aroma). It is easy enough to clean though you need to watch your digits - those blades are SHARP.All in all a greatlittle aid and one of the gadgets you won't end up tossing.

This is a small gadget that you fill with your items, put the top on and press down while twisting. The blades are effective and the slices are thin and clean. It's quick and easy to use and clean up is easy too as it can go into the dishwasher.I've used it with garlic and ginger but all things considered, I find it quicker to crush and chop the garlic and ginger with a knife since I have the knife out anyway to peel them with. But it's perfect for parmesan cheese if you use that often. You can fill it up and leave it in the fridge and have it ready to use. There's a lid on the base that stops food particles from falling out when they're stored inside the canister.

Over the years I have tried all sorts of garlic presses and, although I finally found a very decent one, cleaning them after use remains a pain. I then decided slicing was the way forward, paper thin slicing. Having tried various bit of kit I came a costs this little gem. Pricier than I would have liked but definitely a case of 'you get what you pay for'. Perfect, wafer thin slices every time and cleaning is a doddle. I shall be throwing out all of my other 'garlic implements' and giving this unit pride of place.

This is a great slicer! Very simple to use and very simple to clean up after. Just a few swishes through some hot soapy water and it's done. I have used this for garlic which came out easily in very thin slices and for radishes. I am going to try it for ginger for soup and drinks. I usually crush garlic, but I think slicing it thinly is a good idea for lots of food I like making, especially soups. It's pretty small, so it stores away easily. I am very pleased with this and I would recommend it.

Outstandingly simple idea! Stick a clove of garlic inside twist a few times and lovely thin slices of garlic ready to cook!No more smelly fingers!Very simple to use, simply drop in the clove of garlic, and repeatedly twist, no need to try and crush the garlic like I did the first time (helps if you read the box lol)Easy to clean too although care needs to be used when cleaning near the blades, they are razor sharp!I love this product a simple idea brilliantly executed!

I love cooking and use garlic in quite a lot of my dishes. Quite a few of my favourite recipes call for garlic to be thinly sliced. My knife skills are reasonable but nowhere near the terrific results I can get with this nifty little device. Peel the cloves pop them into the cylinder put the top on, rotate it and wafer thin slices of garlic come out. The cap on the end also means that you can store the garlic in the slicer if you wish. Simple and effective - excellent.

I'm not sure whether this is worth the space for me as I don't use sliced garlic or ginger that often but it does a good job if you do. The slices are very thin and even and it's easy to use. The lid that clips over the bottom allows you to store a small amount, ( like one garlic cloves worth).I like to use it for Parmesan, makes me feel like I'm in a restaurant. :) Dishwasher has cleaned it fine each time I've used it so far.

I was a bit dubious as to how well this would work, but have been really impressed with it. Have so far used it for slicing garlic; you just insert peeked cloves, close the lid, twist, and the blades inside slice what's inside really finely and really well. It's not as effective with anything harder, but for softish things it is great. It is slightly fiddly to clean, but otherwise excellent. Four stars.

i like to dry garlic and its so fiddly to peel and thinly slice lots of cloves. Although this doesn't peel, I bought a zak colourway garlic peeler for that, it slices perfectly. Lovely and thin, and very easy. Pop garlic in and turn. I've tried it with parmesan cheese too, and that work just as well..i highly recommend this product. Simple to clean too.

Well designed, small unit that chops garlic easily and neatly. It can also be used for hard cheeses if you wish. It's simple enough to clean - certainly easier than a garlic crusher - and robust. Encouragingly it also comes with a 3 year warranty - which is testament to the quality of construction. A useful addition - if not exactly an essential item.

Really easy to use and clean afterwards. You just remove the garlic and ginger skins and put them in the bottom of the pot, above the slicing blades, then push down the inserted pusher and twist and out pops brillant thinly sliced garlic and ginger. I have chucked my other garlic squeezer’s as this does the job effortlessly. Highly recommend.

This is a handy little gadget for thin slices of things like garlic and ginger. On the plus side, it's well made and compact. It makes super thin slices of whatever you cut. On the downside, it slips in your hand when using, and you need a firm grip to get it to turn. It is also tricky to get it entirely clean around the blade.
