Until now, I have always shortened my Bowden cables with tin snips. However, the cutting result of the Shimano Bowden cable cutter is not comparable. The cut is much cleaner. The effort required to shorten the brake or shift cables is minimal. All in all, perfect cutting results. The icing on the cake is the integrated thorn. However, this is only minimally necessary for such clean cuts.

I bought these for my wife, whose hoby is jewellery making, she uses these with Aluminium, copper and silver wire of various gauges and sections (round, half-round square and others). they make a very clean cut with a minimal amount of rough edge.

For the price they're great, as I'm in the AV business these are precise, sharp, cut cleanly and handle well, but if you're after quality with a 'K' then buy Knipex, be prepared to pay more....

These simple cutters are perfect! nothing I can possibly complain about, they do the job and are simple deisgn, I will look at Engineer Inc for all my electronics tools.

RealIy nice to use for small gauge wire. But I damaged mine trying to cut thick wire So will be ordering a new pair now doh

A must for accurate P.E. Work. It's rather high priced but a beautifully machined tool and should last for years.
