I had been coveting a Le Creuset shallow casserole for years (thanks to Nigel Slater!) but for one reason or another couldn’t justify spending over a hundred pounds on a pan. However, in February 2017 I was swayed by an Amazon deal and decided to splurge on the pan. No buyer’s remorse! It’s absolutely fantastic! It’s been over a year now and it’s in constant use in my kitchen - twice a day, more often than not. It’s still in perfect condition with no chips to the enamel or marks to the interior. I always use silicone utensils and, if I do end up with any food stuck to the pan, I’ll deglaze it with water while on the hob (or wine during cooking if the recipe calls for it!)so there’s no need for elbow grease or harsh cleaning products when washing up.As you’d expect with Le Creuset, the pan is of exceptional quality and will last a lifetime if looked after properly. I’ve inherited a set of 1960s Le Creuset saucepans that are testament to how well made their cookware is.I bought the 26cm shallow casserole which holds 2L and is suitable for 2-3 people. We’re a couple that loves very generous portions and it’s the perfect size for us.It’s versatile - use it on hob, under the grill, in the oven - and can handle such a variety of dishes. Homemade baked beans, frittata, pasta & rice bakes, Japanese gyoza (frying bottoms, steaming with lid on), risotto, curries & dahls...And... it’s stylish! I have it in the Almond, admittedly because it was the cheapest at the time, and it’s lovely. Lives on the cookertop. I’m planning on the 30cm in Marseille Blue next because I honestly couldn’t be without these casserole dishes.

Ordered this to complete my Le Creuset collection. This was the last piece for my collection, and it is worth every penny. As usual Amazon the cheapest supplier by far,by about £30, and I shopped around for each piece I have bought. I was unsure, never having seen the Cassis colour what it would be like, but it is lovely and blends perfectly with my cobalt blue saucepans and my teal casserole dish. I have used this a couple of times now, once to make a casserole and once to fry some stuff. It works brilliantly as a casserole, or a frying pan. What I love about Le Creuset is how easy to clean they are, even without soaking. But, i've learnt if you do get something on the bottom,I put some hot water and salt in them, and then put them on the hob till they boil, and then a quick wipe and hey presto, stuck on stuff removed. I also recommend the Le Creuset pan cleaner they make, it's specifically for their pans, smells like oranges, and is wonderful to get off any black or brown marks left by the hob on the outside.I bought the 30cm version of this pan, as I already have the 26cm frying pan, so decided the extra few cm's would come in useful. They do. The lid is really handy and of course, all of it is oven proof so it really does add the one pot cooking I love so much. If you wanted to make this even more versitile, Le Creuset sell a separate 30cm glass lid, which means you could then see how your cooking is doing.Remember, like all Le Creuset, don't use metal utensils on this. I always use sillicone, or if not plastic, as using metal can damage the inner enamel.

I love this shallow casserole, it's brilliant to cook with and I always feel like I am creating a little masterpiece. Beautiful Le Cruset quality. If you are cooking for more than 2 people buy the 30 cm casserole, as opposed to the smaller one. Great for casseroles, hob to oven etc, you won't be disappointed.I've been using this casserole dish now for over a year. It's great for stews, spaghetti Bolognaise etc but also general cooking ie, fried potatoes, chorizo, soup. You do need to start it off with some oil so I use a spray of real olive oil or a piece of bacon. I find that both on the oven and hob I use less heat ie medium heat cooks beautifully and in the oven 180° is good or 120° for 4 hrs for a casserole. The lid is very heavy which I think helps the cooking process. My children have commented on how meat cooked in this le creuset casserole dish is very tender, this is probably down to the cast iron and the seal as the lid is so heavy and on a practical point, it is very heavy so if you cannot lift a heavy saucepan this wouldn't be for you. I would also reccommend always using heat proof oven gloves when lifting However I can't imagine you'd get the same flavour from an aluminium pot so I'd always go for the le creuset. The casserole is very easy to wash/clean with warm water. And I put some olive oil around the rim after I've cleaned it to keep it looking good and stain free.So after a year, probably used 104 times, still very pleased.

First things first, this thing is BIG. That's why I wanted it, but you have to be sure you have space to keep it as its presence is hard to ignore - especially in orange. Assuming you can accommodate it, everything else you know about enamelled cast iron applies to this too - it's wonderfully effective at retaining and distributing heat when you want to cook gently, less so when you want to up the temperature to sear a steak or a slab of tuna. The shape deserves some comment too. The short handles get hot and make the pan hard to manipulate on the hob, but conversely help it to work well in the oven, where the cast iron effect really comes into its own. Meanwhile, the gently sloping sides make it very attractive but they rather reduce the flat cooking area at the bottom, making the pan less commodious than it might be. They also make stirring a risotto or a paella a little fiddly as it's too easy to help the rice over the edge of the pan. I use this pan as a complement to a deeper, steep-sided, cast-aluminium sauté pan, which also has the advantage of a long handle. Risotti and stir-fries go in the sauté pan, slow-braised pork chops, boeuf en daube and sausage casserole in the Le Creuset. In conclusion, this is a specialist piece, not an all-rounder, but it's none the worse for that. If you can justify the space and cost, you'll enjoy using it and be pleased with the results.

I bought this in a black Friday deal for half the price it sells on the Le Crueset UK website. I'd wager this is because the plum colour is the least popular, but I jumped at the chance as my wife doesn't care that this is plum and her other Le Crueset cast iron cookware is the red colour. As for the shallow dish itself, it is as you'd expect very good quality. We have a selection of cast iron cookware, one is the cheapest you can buy and three items are Le Crueset. The difference is mainly noticeable in the quality of the internal finish of the cooking surface. In the cast iron casserole dishes the cream coloured finish is smoother and easier to clean than the cheapo ones we have.If you haven't used cast iron for cooking, you will love the versatility. It's great being able to start prep on the stove, add ingredients and transfer to the oven if and when needed.Le Crueset are expensive, its taken us two years just to build a collection of three of their items, but we thin they are worth it as they are going to outlast both of us. I can easily see these giving many decades of use.

I have both the 26cm and 30 cm shallow casserole dishes. As you would expect from Le Creuset, they are easy to use on both the hob and in the oven (or both, depending on the recipe you use them for). As you would also expect of cast iron (enamelled interior), they are also fairly weighty when full. The 26cm casserole is just about the right size to comfortably prepare a meal for two without the contents being in danger of spilling out if stirred on the hob. The 30cm is large enough to comfortably hold a meal for four. The 26cm fits nicely inside the 30cm, sitting on the lid of the former and thus the pair do not use up an awful lot of cupboard space, which is always a boon.Cleaning is a breeze, they come up like new in the dishwasher or when washed by hand.Mine both had sticky labels on the base; I mention this only because I remembered to remove one but not the second - the smoke alarm and a smell of chemical burning alerted me to my omission when the dish in question was otherwise happily cooking on the hob. Oops! Anyway, even the burnt label came off cleanly, so no harm done.

I’ve had it for about a year now.First and foremost, I like it a lot.I think the shape is excellent, the size is excellent and the versatility is excellent.Never warped or had any issues heating up for making a steak and found it useful for roasts and so on.My main issue is that when you compare it to my 28cm Classic Line Dutch oven it’s simply inferior in every way. It’s a lot thinner, rougher (despite the many claims that the Signature line should have a smoother finish I found it to be just the opposite), the bigger handles are utterly useless to me as I never had any issues whatsoever holding onto the regular size ones on my Dutch oven and it only takes up more space in smaller ovens (I have to place it diagonally). In case you’re wondering if I got a bad one.I didn’t. I went to a shop and checked others and they are all the same.As far as I’m concerned the Classic Line is superior in every possible way and if I could I would have bought the same thing but from the Classic Line instead of this thinner, rougher, dumbo-handle nonsense.

I bought my 30cm shallow casserole dish in a non-Amazon online sale. While still expensive, it has more than earned its keep in the 4 months since I bought it. It is extremely versatile and I have used it to cook paellas, risottos, curries... you name it. In fact, I've barely used another pan since buying this. The usual cautions still apply as with all Le Creuset items... this is dead heavy empty and wouldn't suit anyone with arthritic/joint issues. Also, my other bug-bear is that the handles heat up so you have to be careful if you want to turn the pan while cooking for any reason. Despite this, I would unhesitatingly recommend this pan. While I have collected lots of Le Creuset cast iron cookware over the years, this and a decent-sized (24cm) traditional casserole would be more than sufficient for most cooking needs. I would recommend waiting for summer/Christmas sales and searching a number of online sites online to get the best deal but this is a pan worth saving/waiting for

This pan has taken its place as my favourite piece of cooking equipment. It looks good, cooks well and is SO versatile. It will go in the oven or stay on the hob but has an advantage over traditional casseroles in that it's shallow so you don't have to have a lot of liquid to cover anything you're cooking. It can also be used as a frying pan, roasting pan, bain-marie...... The lid ensures that fish and meat stay moist. A whole family meal can be cooked in one go and nothing burns - even on the high heat of my AGA because the heat is spread so evenly. It can go straight from the oven to the table - no need for a separate serving dish - just brilliant!I have a large family and entertain quite often but for a smaller family the smaller size would be ideal. It goes in the dishwasher and comes out looking like new.....The only downside - as with all Le Creuset cast iron pans - is that it's heavy and might not be suitable for anyone that has difficulty lifting.

A pity you can't rate with 7 stars!!Once I watched Rick Stein using this casserole in one of his shows, I wanted one for my kitchen. But, this 30cm shallow casserole is only available in the UK. I had contact with Le Creuset in France for information, and they said the only way to purchase one is to get one from the UK. His bigger brother, the 40cm or 5 quart braiser as it is called there, is only available in the US! So, I ordered one from Amazon UK and in three days my package arrived in good order and the casserole is in use for three or four days a week since. This casserole is definately my favorite one, it distributes the heat equally and holds the heat very long,so you don't have to use the highest position of your burner. The size is convenient for 4-5 persons and you can stir your dish easily without spilling. For every cook afficionado a must-have!! When the 5 quart version is available for the EU market, I definately will buy one.

I love this pan. It replaced a much loved fireproof earthenware pot which I had used for about 10 years before the glaze finally cracked and I had to get rid of it. I looked in vain for something similar but the reviews weren’t encouraging so I started looking at alternatives. This fitted the bill, and now lives on my stovetop as my go to cooking pot. It doesn’t fit in my pan cupboard so needed to be attractive enough to have on show, which it is. I have used it for a couple of months and the inside glaze remains perfect. It’s been washed in the dishwasher and by hand, always comes out good as new. Being shallow it doubles as a sauté pan which is great. It’s particularly good for cooking things like risotto and curries. It’s not as heavy as I’d feared, I’ve had no problem carrying it to the table when nearly full. The only reason I would fault it is the price, I’d love to buy more in the same range but it’s just too expensive!

This style of Le Creuset is only available in GB, not in Belgium where I live and also not in Holland nor in France (?),.... I saw British cooks using this on TV and looked everywhere without success. I was told repeatedly by shopkeepers that it was not in the Le Creuset range. Until my husband hit on the idea of checking Amazon. I bought it first in teal and enjoyed using it for several months until I unluckily forgot to switch off the hob and damaged the inside finish. The downside of buying via Amazon: I was't able to take the pan back to the shop where it had been bought to see if they would give me any kind of refund. After several months cooking without it I began to miss the pan more and more and finally decided to buy it again ....in black satin. Even better than the teal one as the inside finish seems tougher than the cream. I just need to remember to switch off the hob!

I do like a good quality, weighty cast iron pan and this does not disappoint. I have cooked a variety of things in it ranging from risotto to fillets and casseroles and all have turned out well. I never cook on high heat with it as it retains heat really well and once it's hot with a splash of oil I turn the heat down to cook. It makes a great oven caserole dish and is smart enough to go straight on the table and this also keeps food nice and warm due to its heat retaining properties. It only takes a quick sponge down in the sink too, no major scrubbing needed. It is heavy but that's to be expected but with a handle either side you can get a grip on it. Have had my other pans by this company years now and still going strong.I expect the same from this. Very pleased

I already had a smaller version of this casserole but its only really big enough for 2. I cook everything in it and get it simmering on my induction hob and then put it on the Aga hot plate to gently cook. The results are brilliant, nothing dries out because the lid is such a good seal and it doesn't seem to stick. Whatever residue is left when you have finished serving washes away easily!! It is particularly good for cooking rice dishes. The colour is very classy and sits easily on the table. The only drawback could be its weight - but when you are using it you will no doubt have guests so there is bound to be a strong man who doesn't mind helping!!I waited a long time before I took the plunge as it is fairly expensive but well worth it. Good luck.

I love this Braiser it is fabulous I didnt by it from Amazon. I thought my recommendation would be of use in purchasing this beautiful item. I was torn between the deep casserole and the braiser. I decided to try the braiser before investing into a dutch oven. It love how well and evenly it cooks. I would say I am a home chef and this item is definitely needed for the high quality cooking. I noticed I could really taste the flavours and seasonings I used in my quick dish I made just to put it through the test. It was easy to clean I just waited until it cooked down and soaked it with warm water and fairy liquid. Its came up beautiful definitely worth the money for the price point it is heavy and feels very luxury and expensive.
