I own an array of Pyrex dishes and trays, and I’ve found this casserole dish to be another fantastic addition to my kitchen. I bought it after deciding to expand my cooking skills and make some good comfort food. After skimming through other products offered by companies such as Le Creuset, I quickly realized they were out of my price range. However, this dish has been the perfect blend of price and quality that I firmly believe you won’t find elsewhere! The product arrived swiftly, and I opened the box to find it well packaged. The lid is a convex shape that has been turned upside down to fit inside the casserole dish during transportation. When this is flipped the right side up it does add a few cm to the overall height,so I would make a note of how much room you can spare. The dish measures ~27cm length, ~30cm width. The height is ~9cm with the lid off, which increases to ~ with the lid on 12.5cm.One thing that I noticed was this dish has grips under the handle, so you’re less likely to drop it while handling it. Additionally, this dish has a wide separation between the handles and the dish itself. The means that you won’t struggle to remove the lid with oven gloves on.In regards to cooking, it does a fantastic job. However, obviously the glass does get very hot so some care is needed when taking it out of the oven. This dish did a brilliant job of helping me cook something that Sunday evenings deserve! After I had finished it was very easy to clean, and if I don’t have time, I find that I can let it soak for a while and it’ll help get any stuck food off quickly- this is not something you can do with an iron pan (to my knowledge).I have nothing bad to say about the product, I have found it to be practically flawless. I could clutch at straws and say it accumulates fingerprints quickly, but these will always come off in the wash.Overall, a brilliant casserole dish that will see many uses, and certainly stand the test of time! A must-have for any kitchen.

After reading Forkish's book Flour Water Salt and Yeast (superb bread making book) I purchased this to bake bread. Absolutely magic! See photo. The loaf on the left was baked in the pyrex oven; the right in a Le Creuset metal oven (with then lifting knob replaced with a metal drawer pull). Baked at 245 C, the pyrex oven does not even notice. Although there is no fat in my dough (flour water salt yeast) there is no sticking whatever. I don't have to wash it afterwards, just wipe out with a moist kitchen towel. An absolutely superb product for the price, though slightly more fragile than the Le Creuset. With such a hot oven, you have to have a very good pair of oven mitts or similar, and take care getting the dough into the Dutch oven; it is easy to burn yourself otherwise. I tilt the oven about 45 degrees and gently "pour" the dough from the banneton into the oven.

Who doesn't know about Pyrex by now? It is great stuff it withstands high oven temperatures and therefore makes great casserole dish etc. Although the actual purchase of this item wasn't completed, due to it being sent out by Amazon Warehouse deals when it was badly chipped and really unusable, we've got others in the house. This size is about right for say 4 chicken breasts in a cook in sauce, enough stew for 2 people, etc. No use if you've a tribe to feed or like cooking in batches and freezing but to cook enough to feed two people it's the right size. I've noticed that all Pyrex lids don't seem to fit as snug as they used to but perhaps that's been changed on purpose, after all they used to regularly weld to the rest of the casserole if any gravy/sauce got onto lid.

Glass is the cleanest surface to be in contact with food because it's so inert - it doesn't leach endocrine disruptors like plastic (including BPA-free) nor heavy metals as can be found in many ceramics. Indeed, it is no coincidence that glassware is so popular in the laboratory - scientists know that glass is finest!Whenever oven cooking, I turn to Pyrex's glass baking tray or casserole dish. The 1L + 0.4L is a perfect size for a single person. I am glad to see that Pyrex finally stopped stamping their name inside the bowl and put that on the outside where it belongs.

I decided to give this pyrex glass casserole dish a go because all the other casserole dishes I have bought in recent years last about 6 months and then I have to throw them away but mean time I have a pyrex dish in my cupboard that I bought over 10 years ago and it is still going strong just not big enough for a nice chicken casserole, so thought I would give this one a go. Excellent value for the money, the right size and looks as good as my other older one. So pleased all round. 10 year guarantee as well.

Excellent for keeping my oven clean as the light-weight lid prevents food splatter which avoids the tiresome need to scrub the oven interior after use. It is also satisfyingly lighter than my previous Pyrex glass, and the 3.5L volume is ideally suited to the size of my Microwave Oven Grill where I perform a lot of combination cooking that uses both microwave and oven functions together, which give a temperature of 200 degrees which is well within the tolerance level of this Pyrex cookware.

The dish was described as a 2.1 litre Pyrex dish. The dish capacity is only 1.5 litre. The lid may well be 0.5 litre but this is not a useable capacity. The dish was therefore too small for the main use I needed it for - making sour dough bread. I think it should be described as a 1.5 litre dish with a 0.5 litre lid. An online buyer would then have a clearer idea of what was expected. Otherwise, the product was what I expected, just too small.

Pyrex casseroles are always useful and while I have several quite large ones as I'm mainly cooking for myself now I needed something smaller. This is ideal to make two portions of any sort of casserole - one to eat now and one to freeze and I can see that it will get a lot of use both for sweet and savoury dishes. It is also useful for making one portion size meals as there is plenty of room in the dish which means fewer spills in the oven.

I bought the 4.9 litre dish to get a better rise on my sourdough without shelling out on an expensive cast iron Dutch oven. This fits the bill perfectly and can accommodate even the largest loaves. Arrived well packaged with plenty of protection and was received undamaged. Would recommend to anyone wanting to get into sourdough without the big money spending, or if you just want a nice hearty casserole. Can't go wrong with Pyrex.

This is a replacement for my original one that has become chipped through the years, (over 20 years)!Pyrex is an excellent product in all aspects, cooking, cleaning etc!Although what I don't understand is why the capacity is shown as AIR, who cooks AIR, not only that a circular Pyrex dish is described as having a width and height, its circular for God's sake just give the diameter, obviously these people don't cook!

I bought two of these and did not open them immediately.. When I did, one of them had a chipped handle on the lid, making it impossible to use without cutting myself. A chip which did not seem to have happened in transit as there were no splinters in the wrapping. I could not return them due to the time lapse. A lesson to me in the future to open as soon as I receive. The other is perfect and typical of Pyrex quality.

All my life Pyrex has been there for me, like an Adidas Superstar, MacBook or a Fender Telecaster, tough no nonsense eccoutrements that enable you to get the job done if you have a job that is. I used mine exclusively for baking bread during the first of the pandemics that started way back in the 2020’s.Some people complain about the volume this receptacle of faith holds, I’d say to them eat less be more healthy.

30.10.2020

I mainly use this large Pyrex bowl to cook bolognese in, using 1kg of mince (batch cooking). Need a large bowl, and this one does the job perfectly. Only small criticism is that the lid is not quite the same size, so rocks about a little while in use, and makes a small knocking sound while on the turntable in the microwave. Does not affect its cooking ability, it's just a little irritating.

I bought in 2016. Its great. I use mine as a soup bowl. I am disabled my cares put soup in it at tea time visit. I am able to put in the microwave the following day eat my soup then clean in the sink It is sturdy. The only problem I broke the lid in the sink, totally my own fault so I ordered another july 2021 as I find the lid helpful. The orignal is ok and is now kept as a spare

Great value, looks great, easy to store & works! Used as a cloche & finally got a decent crust on my bread. A fifth of the price of Dutch ovens sold to bake bread in, with the added benefit that you can actually see the bread when you’re checking if it’s time to take the lid off. Really versatile, I’m giddy with pleasure at my new purchase....might make a casserole later ?.
