I bought this steamer after researching various different models. I was looking for a larger one than the most common-sized one, as I wanted to be able to use it when cooking for larger as well as smaller groups of people.Since purchasing it about 3 months ago, I've been consistently thrilled with my purchase and use it on most days. I have a family of 4 and it cooks all the veg we need - but I have also used it when catering for more people and it does not disappoint. There are also times, however, when it is used to cook veg for just my partner and I - and I still haven't regretted my decision to go for a larger one - we just use one tier rather than both (maybe putting carrots on one side and broccoli on the other, for example). I have also had great success boiling potatoes and peas in the bottom, whilst steaming the remaining veg on top. I would say, though, that I'm so pleased with this product I like to steam everything I can, so I often now steam potatoes rather than boiling them and this works really well - it doesn't seem to take any longer either! I now also use it to heat up veg cooked the day before when necessary, and they come out beautifully too - unlike the dried-up nutrient-starved offerings you might get after bunging in the microwave. Finally, I have used the base on it's own to good effect, both for things like stews and also for boiling up chicken stock etc (it can take a chicken carcass with water on top).In terms of look and feel, my opinion is that this steamer has the perfect balance. It is nice and light to pick up and move around - and yet solid enough so that it doesn't appear flimsy. The lid feels as if it is very good quality. We usually pop it in the dishwasher after use and it comes out great. In terms of cons, I've really struggled to find any... I have a gas hob so didn't encounter the problems described by some other reviews. Overall I think this is a real winner of a product and after only a short time I am wondering how I ever did without one. My mum is about to purchase one too, having experienced cooking with it for herself, and I'd thoroughly recommend anyone out there who has the capacity to store this in their kitchen to buy it. You won't regret it.

I purchased this steamer for my 78 year old mother in law who'd fallen into the trap of eating microwave meals every day. She's been having a few health problems lately and has been gaining weight so asked if I had any suggestions to help her loose weight and feel better. As I'm a great believer in a healthy whole food diet, the first thing I said to her was ditch the ready meals & start cooking for yourself. Of course she came back with all the reasons why it's too much hard work (all those pans, washing up etc,.) so that's when I suggested a steamer.I myself have two steamers (we eat a LOT of veggies in our house) so know how easy they are to use. It takes little to no time to chop up a few veggies, place them in the tiers & steam for 5-15 mins... All in one pan!Once I'd demonstrated how simple it was to my mother in law she was very happy & uses it quite a lot (not as often as I'd like her too!).I was very pleased with the quality of this steamer - the tiers are very deep & would happily accommodate enough veg for your average family of four. It is also suitable for an induction hob (which is what my mother in law has). If, or when my steamers need replacing I'll certainly be purchasing one of these for myself.Thank you for reading. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I'll try to help.

I bought this as a replacement for an electric steamer, which was falling to pieces, the plastic parts cracking and the handles breaking off. This set shouldn't have any of those problems, and should last me for ever. I find it also works better as a steamer than the electric one. The amount of steam produced can be varied by turning the heat up or down, so that food can be cooked more or less quickly, as preferred. There are various different sizes of this steamer available. I have one of the larger ones, which is easily big enough to cook vegetables for a family of four. One word of warning, though: although it's described as a three tier steamer, the bottom pan holds the water,so you only get two steaming pans (unlike electric three tier models). However, you can use the bottom pan for boiling potatoes (say) while steaming other veggies above. I've never tried cooking meat or fish in the steamer, so I can't say how well that works. The downside: the small metal handles get quite hot, which makes it awkward extracting the contents when cooked. It would be easier if each pan had a long handle, too, so that it could be emptied one-handed. But these are minor quibbles.Overall: a good buy, works well, washes well and still looks good after several months of regular use, with the only problem being the handles.

I have used a stainless steamer before, you save money only having to use one ring to cook a full meal and everything tastes so much better and is so much healthier, but last year I took it to Ibiza and really missed it when I came back so looked on Amazon and found this one, the only problem is because I am of a certain age, (yes over 21 and quiet a few years experience and I still work in inches) 20 cm didn't really mean much, but it was only a few pounds more than the 18 cm set and the 22 cm set was a lot more so I reasoned I was getting a bargain. It is a bargain but too big for just me and my hubby, so this year we took it to Ibiza in April where it now lives and bought my smaller one back to England. The 20 cm set is big enough for at least 4 to 6 people,it is made really well and lovely and shiny you could leave it out on a worktop or on the cooker. I would recomend it for a family but if there are only 2 of you go for the smaller one.

I bought this set after buying a larger size and finding that too big for 2 people, but wonderful for family visits, soup etc. This little set is used every day and no doubt has saved a fortune on gas consumption using only one ring instead of 3 and increased our vitamin intake from steamed, rather than boiled vegetable. The main benefit to me is that I used to be always running out of gas rings - with this I have all my veg on one ring, leaving 3 free for anything else I want to do - frying, sauces, gravy etc. They wash well and polish up beautifully, looking very smart on my shelf next to the larger ones. I imagine that the handles may go in the future, but no sign yet.I always wash them by hand which will keep them going longer and the cost of replacement would be so low I would very happily replace with the same. I would strongly recommend these to everyone - it one of the best purchases I have made in 50yrs of cooking.

This is proving to be a very durable little steamer. Ideal for induction hobs and for use on a gas camping stove as a little thought means it can be used effectively for one pot cooking of main meals for a maximum of three people or four if used alongside another pot or pan; saving on the amount of electric or gas being used to make a main meal. Good for steaming quick cooking vegetables above rice or potatoes. I've used mine to steam vegetables above a ragout and really enjoyed the results.Where the finish is concerned a little care goes a long way, don't try and get it hot too quickly and always use the smallest ring to hand, clean as soon as it is empty or fill with cold water to soak.As with much in life, your enjoyment and your rewards will be equal to the thought, consideration and effort you put into whatever you do and how you do it.

This was one of my best purchases for YEARS. I'm saving a fortune on gas consumption as everything goes on one ring - eg potatoes on the bottom, carrots above & peas on the top. One of my main problems has been running out of space on my hob (The enormous ring for a wok is useful for a wok only, leaving me with 3 useable rings). It's lovely having steamed vegetables which can be added at any time during the cooking process, the pans are so easy to clean and I use the steamer more or less every day. I bought the larger (20cm) steamer as well which is wonderful for soups and stews (and jam) and when I'm catering for more than 2 of us. Both look smart & shiny on top of my fridge when not in use.The quality is very good and amazing for the price and I doubt if I'll ever have to replace a pan in my lifetime.

I do cover the vent in the lid as steam escapes from the edges of the lid anyway without losing more - I'm not really sure what the vent is for.I bought the 7" size as there's generally only me but it's not so good if you're cooking for two. Runner beans, for instance, cook as quickly as simmering in water but only if you just cover the bottom of the steamer with them - if you have more beans in the same section so some are on top of others then they take a lot longer, which isn't the case if you simmer them. I would recommend this product but I wish I'd gone up a size - but then I really like my vegetables and probably eat more at a sitting than most people. If you're the same then get a bigger size than you think you'll need - that is if there's room in your cupboard for it of course.

I did dither about buying this set as I have one universal steamer that sits on most saucepans, however when it comes to steaming more than one lot of veg I'm stuck, so I decided for the price of another universal steamer I could have this set, and its the best thing I could have done.I see there are a few reviews about the handles getting to hot, I have not found this to be so, maybe I have asbestos hands but I can easy pick any one of the three while cooking without needing oven gloves. The quality of the pans is a good gauge of stainless steel, and best of all the handles are screwed in right through, making the whole set neat with multi purpose uses.So if like me your dithering "Don't" get the set and you will not be disappointed

Great little steamer. Bought the smallest size aa it's going to be used for individual portions not family size. The only minor disappointment is that some items don't clean off easily for example salmon skin if it has been in direct contact with the stainless steel, is a bit of a swine to get off, occasionally requiring the use of bicarb to fully remove the traces of it. This though is an issue with our other stainless pans and is not a fault with this item, it's just a bit of an irritation. The only other niggle is that when washing the lid water can get between the gasket and the glass. Its not a hygiene issue it just makes it harder to dry properly.Other than that it works really well and I would buy another if needed.

I bought this to help better organise cooking the Christmas dinner (mainly bcause purchase of a steamer was one of the very good tips suggested by Jamie Oliver in his excellent Christmas DVD) & it has proved to be a boon to cooking all year round.Nicely robust & adequately sized, the joy of the steamer is that it allows you to cook three things on the one ring on the cooker (invaluable where you are not fortunate to have more than four rings on your cooker top)It's a decent size & can comfortably cope with cooking portions of veg etc of an adequate size.Good value & very handy to have, a great way to upgrade your "batterie de cuisine" (as Elizabeth David might put it !)

I've recommended this product to lots of friends over the years. I was at a Pampered Chef party last night and another mum mentioned that she'd been looking for a mini steamer for years. Well this one is the business. I bought mine about 8 years ago because I was fed up with using a larger sized steamer which takes up a silly amount of space. I use this 18 cm one several times a day. It is an excellent product. Well made and it's still as good as new despite being in and out of my dishwasher. By far and away 'the' best and most useful piece of kitchen kit in my kitchen. I know it's only a pan but I would never be without one. Well worth the price too.

Our new kitchen has an induction hob and therefore we needed a new steamer. Our main induction pans are ProCook Gourmet Steel ones, which are really excellent, but they do not do a steamer in that range and I did not want to spend £70 on their Professional range. I am very pleased with the Kitchen Craft steamer and it has performed very well as a steamer, although it does not heat up quite as quickly as the ProCook Gourmet pans and the overall quality is not as good. But for the price I can thoroughly recommend them for steaming vegetables, and they store very nicely in our Magnet drawer unit as a stack with the lid upside down.

Good quality. Well packaged by Amazon. Glad I bought this one, i've thrown out my electric one to use this one in its stead, I feel the electric one (different brand) was too much hassle and the plastic bowls had warped slightly letting steam out. This one has a heavy base, is induction friendly and all of the handles are securely riveted on with no sharp edges I've only used it a couple of times so far and there is no water vapour being exuded from anywhere but the hole in the lid.. I noticed it says on the box it has a 15 year warranty so I guess there pretty confident in their quality - only time will tell. :-)

I've had this product more than 10years and it's still my first choice when I'm cooking. I first bought it when I moved out of home and lived in a bedsit with only a 2-hob stove. Allowed me to cook an entire, really tasty meal on the one hob. Bottom is deep enough to cook enough potatoes for 2 or 3 while you're steaming. It's been great with gas and electric and has survived me forgetting about it and burning the inside badly - a good scrub with a woolly pad and it was good as new. It has been one of the few kitchen items I have carried around the world with me as I moved. Can't recommend it enough.
