I have several Le Creuset items but didn't have the Le Creuset Cast Iron shallow casserole. I've owned a Cirulon paella pan for 11 years which cost me around a hundred pounds back then. It has been worth every penny but after 11 years hard labour in my kitchen it was ready to bin it and replace it. I did consider buying the exact same model which is still on sale today but decided instead to replace it with this Le Creuset Shallow Casserole. Its very similar in shape and size and holds roughly the same amount of food. But, this is a nicer colour (my circulon paella pan was black with a stainless steel lid) this almond colour is simply stunning and to me its a lot more attractive.I love Le Creuset cookware as its top quality, looks good, performs effortlessly and lasts and lasts, as long as you don't drop it (cast iron is very heavy, so you need strong arms to lift this when it is full) and it washes up so easily. My shallow casserole arrived this afternoon and I made dinner in it tonight. The flavour was awesome! and as the lids are so tight fitting and the cast iron distributes heat so well, I cooked our dinner on a very low heat which is of course, energy efficient.I can find nothing at all negative about this, I love it already and it will be used almost daily in my house. An excellent investment for a serious cook and I trust you will be as delighted as I am with it.HIGHLY RECOMMEND! (I would not swap this for the circulon one I threw away this morning)

What a fantastic casserole pot! Like most people said, it's a fabulous, heavy duty, quality pan. I like to heat it slowly on medium heat so when I brown meats it creates a beautiful golden crust with no burning whatsoever. I use it mostly for slow braises. A big 3 inch slab of chuck steak, browned to perfection and then braised in wine and stock for a couple of hours, with the usual aromatics, is unbeatable. I also use it to cook paella, one pot mini roasts with vegetables, shepherd's pie, steaks & sauce, curries, stews, I even bake bread in it to create a flat but airy bread reminiscent of the Moroccan Khobz! Keep the lid on so the moisture from the dough creates a lovely steam in the pot which results in a gorgeous crust!Since I started using le creuset pots I never use serving dishes, they go straight from the oven to the table. This casserole is so versatile, you definitely get your money's worth. It's also beautiful to look at, the coastal blue is just stunning. A lot of other brighter colours, although fun, are a bit much for me. Almond and coastal blue are my favourites and would never date. A great investment and great addition to my dozen other Le Creuset and Staub pieces. I may have a problem :)

We bought the Le Creuset casserole due to the good name and based on experience with a Le Creuset skillet which has served us well.Service and delivery were excellent from Amazon, but the first attempt resulted in delivery of a broken pot. The way this was handled was exemplary and I was very impressed with the no-fuss returns process and the speed of the replacement being delivered.Second time lucky, the casserole was in perfect condition. It is heavy, but not as heavy as most comparable pots as Le Creuset make theirs a little finer in terms of thickness. The ceramic coating is unblemished, the lid fits tightly and the pot has begun service making a variety of meals, stewed fruits and stocks. The ceramic is easy to clean and does not hold the flavour of previous uses which allows a variety of uses.Having bought without checking, I was concerned about the size, but it is perfect for a medium to large family and happily deals with servings for 5 -6 people without taking over the whole stove top.The graduated colour adds a rustic look and the cerise is a rich red which lends itself to being on display.Very happy!

I have both the 26cm and 30 cm shallow casserole dishes. As you would expect from Le Creuset, they are easy to use on both the hob and in the oven (or both, depending on the recipe you use them for). As you would also expect of cast iron (enamelled interior), they are also fairly weighty when full. The 26cm casserole is just about the right size to comfortably prepare a meal for two without the contents being in danger of spilling out if stirred on the hob. The 30cm is large enough to comfortably hold a meal for four. The 26cm fits nicely inside the 30cm, sitting on the lid of the former and thus the pair do not use up an awful lot of cupboard space, which is always a boon.Cleaning is a breeze, they come up like new in the dishwasher or when washed by hand.Mine both had sticky labels on the base; I mention this only because I remembered to remove one but not the second - the smoke alarm and a smell of chemical burning alerted me to my omission when the dish in question was otherwise happily cooking on the hob. Oops! Anyway, even the burnt label came off cleanly, so no harm done.

I ordered this product a month ago, used it on the day it arrived, and have used it at least once on most days since: e.g. for various Nigellissima pasta dishes; petits pois au beurre with spring onions; pork loin medallions in madeira; tortilla; simple bacon and egg; sausages... all on the hob (halogen, induction and Rayburn). Today I'll try it in the oven with a joint of veal.Warning: initially it stuck a little, but persevere - once it's been used a couple of times it seasons itself, and just gets better and better. It goes in the dishwasher (be careful to take it out promptly and dry thoroughly) but I find that, if I leave the cooled pan to soak in warm water for a short while before normal washing up,it's quick and virtually effortless. My other Le Creuset pans are still going strong after 20+ years, and I expect this one to be just as durable. And, like them, it goes straight from cooker to table and looks gorgeous!

I actually bought this casserole dish in a Le Creuset Outlet Store but had to tell Amazon customers how wonderful it is.You need to take a little time to bring it to temperature but after that the world is your oyster. I've used it to fry, stir fry, stew etc etc, even make top crust pies, make the filling in the dish then chucking on a pastry lid. Once hot it keeps the heat for ages so is economical as a lower hob/ oven temperature will keep it at a working level. One tip I generally make my casseroles for consumption the following day (better flavour) if I need to reheat straight from the fridge I put the the casserole in the unheated oven then bring to working heat, the enamel will love you for it.I calculate my cooking time from when the oven reaches temp. as normal. I own just two Le creuset casseroles, one of which I've had for almost 20 years, and they are by far the most used of all my pots and pans.

My review has to come in two parts; product and delivery. The product is great as you would expect. I have a few other pieces and this lives up to the high expectation that they set.Delivery - Having ordered the product on the Thursday afternoon and paying extra for next day delivery, I stayed in all day. At around 5pm nothing had arrived so I rang to see if the delivery could still be made. The representative I spoke was very pleasant and helpful, however, she informed me that due to something going wrong my delivery would not be made that day. We eventually came up with a solution that she would try her best to arrange delivery of a replacement product on Monday morning. Today is Sunday, and my product arrived yesterday, thankfully before I left home.Product - great. Delivery - things worked out well in the end.

I bought this Le Creuset casserole dish for mothers day for my mum, who has been wanting one for a long time now, but couldn't afford it. It was a good price when bought, and came quickly. I went for the smaller size because I had read they can be quite heavy and my mother has joint problems so thought it was best. I know she has used it quite a lot, and finds it cooks great and when full she can just about manage to lift it, so anyone without joint problems should find the smaller size fine! My father noted it was also really easy to clean too! I have been wanting Le Creuset deep casserole dishes for ages so might save up and buy myself one after the good commemnts from my mother!

Wish I had invested in Le Creuset years ago as they are the best cooking pots around. I now have a selection and although I own stainless steel too, my loyalty remains with Le Creuset. The shallow buffet is extremely versatile, it has more depth than a frying pan and can be used in the oven as well as on top. I even found it great for slow cooking and it holds a fair amount of food and with the frying pan of the same size, you will find the buffet lid fits perfectly. A great buy, and a good price at the time I bought it. Like that one useful knife in the kitchen it is used daily. I would certainly recommend this item and it's good looking too!

I bought this casserole dish/pot to compliment other Le Creuset items that I have, but also because I wanted something small enough to fit into the top oven of a Bosch double oven. The 30cm version also fits into the top oven (tried this out at John Lewis), but it is a tight squeeze and you may not be comfortable with the knob coming into contact with the heating element. As there is only the two of us, this pot is ideal. But you can also get four chicken thighs into the pot and it cooks quickly at a low heat thus saving money on the electric bill.As with all Le Creuset covered cast iron pots, it is simply an oven within an oven!

We already had a Le Creuset casserole so knew they were made to last a lifetime. We made the mistake though of buying a cheaper imitation when we wanted a shallower dish for risottos etc. It only lasted a couple of years before the inner coating started to peel away and it was retired leaving the only logical course of action - buy a proper one! Hence we bought this one (it didn't match our other one but who cares - it was a good price) and we fully expect to get many years of service from it.Buy cheap, buy twice. Buy Le Crueset, buy once. Lesson learned...

7.10.2012

This was purchased with money from my mum for our ruby wedding anniversary. It's a great pan for cooking casseroles in and using both on the hob and in the oven. It is a great size and cleans like a dream. Bought it to match a Le Creuset pan set. It looks so good that it stays out on permanent display in the kitchen. Lovely even heat and retains heat when removed from the gas so it keeps food nice and hot. LOVE IT !!!!!Great service both from the supplier and Amazon. It arrived well within the time suggested and was packed beautifully. A BIG THANK YOU !!!

I have lusted after these casserole pots for a long while but finally took the plunge. Oh I wish I hadn't waited so long! They are expensive but so worth it! There's a casserole in the oven for the past 2 hours as I write this and the house smells incredible. They are an absolute joy to cook in. I also adore the colour. The cooking is even and beautiful. They just make you want to cook! The size is perfect for me. I can fit both on the hob together (we're a half vegetarian and half carnivore household!) Love them!!!
