I've always used one of those peelers with the string round the handle because that's what my mum used. My friend was using this style of peeler so I asked her if they were any good, she said they're brilliant but make sure you get a Kuhn with a serrated blade. I didn't really know what she was on about until I started searching on amazon for them, I thought this one fitted the description so I bought it and I must say I am very pleased with it. I went out and got a butternut squash and it really did peel it, unlike my other peeler. They are sharp but if you're aware of this and not too clumsy I don't think it would be a problem.

I've used the red version of this peeler for some years, and bought a green one to give to my parents.It peels all kinds of fruits and vegetables with ease, creating little waste. I like the robust, ergonomic design, which seems unlikely to fail prematurely under normal use. The stainless steel blade, while not as sharp as the carbon steel blades in the semi-disposable classic peelers from the same manufacturer, should give longer service and the serrations make it possible to peel soft fruit skins.

This is a superb peeler a 'must have' for every kitchen. Most peelers will cope with potatoes and carrots with ease but those of us who want to roast butternut squash are put off because of the difficulty peeling. This tool will peel squash with ease, also tomatoes and mangoes anything that has tender skin. Wash by hand to keep it sharp and keep out of the way of children.

I am impressed. I was concerned that the serated leading edge may scrape rather than peel, but it did a great job. Very sharp and smooth action, no snagging. Comfortable to hold.Also, I used it to ribbon a courgette, which it did consistently and very well. And with the colour, I can spot it in the draw in a nanosecond/

This is the best peeler I have ever used. I accidently broke my Lakeland ceramic peeler the other day and as I can't get over to that shop I went to trust Amazon! This peeler is very sharp it peels like a dream.The only issue is it's so sharp I've nicked my self a few times, once drawing blood. Be careful when using.

My wife initially frowned when I told her how much I’d spent on a peeler, and mumbled something about the pound shop, but when I actually used this I instantly fell in live with it. Peeling just became a lot smoother and a lot easier.I’ve trusted the Kuhn Rikon name before and they have delivered yet again!

It cuts rather well as it is very sharp. I would have vreferwd norlam blade rather than a piranha style, I didn't read description properly so that's my fault. You misy be very carefull as you can easily cut yourself. The only downside I would find is that the grip could have been better

This peeler is wonderful, very, very sharp and simple to use and, providing your fingers are kept well clear of the blade it is safe.Despite peeling very thinly it, nevertheless, peels all vegetables and fruits, from peaches to parsnips, with equal efficiency.Keep away from children!

I have used many peelers in my life but this one leaves them all standing , my 18 and 21 year old always struggled with other peelers in the past but they love this one , and there is nothing it cant handle like a hot knife through butter

Best peeler I've ever owned... 10 out of 10You won't regret the purchaseIgnore all of the morons complaining about it being sharp and cutting/peeling themselves. You wouldn't make the same complaint of a knife would you ?!

Excellent item. Very sharp and peels potatoes, carrots, swede, parsnips etc. with no effort what so ever. I have used others and they have been nothing like as good as this version.You will be very pleased if you buy one.

Very sharp, not one to let the kids use. Works amazingly;the serrated blade means that it doesn’t give a smooth finish on things like carrots and potatoes, but also peels soft fruit with ease. Very Very pleased with it.

had dozens of peelers until one of these - lasted 10 years then accidentally thrown out with peelings - will peel anything very safely with a little care - very sharp long lasting blade - butternut squash to soft fruit

This peeler is a good width for vegetables and fruit and is very sharp. It made easy work of a pumpkin. It is ergonomic and didn't slip in my hand. Take care though, did I say it is very sharp?

This peeler even makes short work of peeling Celeriac. I have put off buying it as it is so awful to peel but the Piranha makes it easier. Also makes healthy veg crisps as it cuts so well. E
