One of my older teflon frying pans is coming to the end of it's loyal service, performing brilliantly over several years. So I thought I'd give one of these ceramic coated ones a twirl around the hob!I've gone for this Kuhn Rikon one as I've bought and used quite a few Kuhn Rikon kitchen items over the years and found them all to be non other than first class. This 26cm aluminium core fry pan feels good in your hand with good build quality. There's a bit of weight in it, which I like as I'm a bit of a basher and banger at the hob, shaking and shuffling pans non stop whilst on the go!On the cardboard sleeve this pan came in and in the product description on Amazon, Kuhn Rikon make 'no'claim that this pan is non stick at this time of writing! So. . . .You are recommended to pre-treat this pan by heating it up then adding a little oil and spreading it around the pan before every use. You cannot use this pan without oil! I've seen some manufacturers claim this with ceramics and it never works. It is also advised to use only wooden or silicone utensils to protect the ceramic coating from being chipped/scratched which makes sense.I use gas to cook on but the blurb says this is good to go on gas, electricity, halogen or induction. One thing to be aware of is - This ceramic pan cooks at much higher temperatures than traditional 'non stick' type pans. It gets really hot really quick as the heat transfare is brilliant so you may have to get out of the habit of cooking at certain gas levels and lower it a touch to compensate. In the time I've used this pan it has performed above and beyond my expectations! Making sure I've used a 'little' oil each time I have cooked eggs, beef/pork mince, sausages, fried fish, made noodle dishes, burgers, fried onions, made stock from celery, red peppers, onions and garlic, reduced liquds and made perfect pancakes! I'll upload some pics in due course. Each and every time it has hand-washed easily with hot soapy water and a sponge looking brand new afterwards. No marks, stains, chips or scratches at all.One other thing. . . Khun Rikon say this pan is PTFE and PFOA free! Both chemicals used in teflon pans now thought to be harmful to humans. PFOA is being banned from any cookware as of 2015.Definitely recommended.Update 7/4/14 - I've had this pan for 10 months now and it is in mint condition as I have cleaned it straight after every use and it has been used a hell of a lot in ten months! No chips in the ceramic and the handle is still solid. I can still highly recommend this pan. Happy cooking :)

I've been using this pan on a regular basis for a couple weeks now and nothing sticks, it cleans up extremely easily, etc. I've only used silicone utensils in it and it is still flawless looking. I can get a decent crisp on most things without burning. It heats up quickly and holds the heat while using less gas than my other pans. My only (very small) problem is that while the bottom looks flat, if you pour in a bit of oil it all beads up and then runs into the outer edge. No problem for most things, and I've started brushing it on instead of drizzling and swirling, but when pan frying something like breaded fish or chicken tenders, I was finding it hard to get a nice uniform crust without using a lot more oil than I would have liked, something I've never had a problem with before. We're going to see how it wears through the summer and then either buy a couple more in different sizes, or try one from the non-stick Le Creuset range. This one is far more affordable, but if the surface breaks down or the handle loosens (my major gripe with otherwise great Dille & Kamille non-stick pots and pans) I'm going to give up and invest in something else.ETA: 4-5 months into using this pan and it's still non-stick, easy to clean, etc. No problems with it losing its finish or getting "sticky". I did put a few tiny holes in the finish somehow, probably with a fork while cooking, but they've been in there for awhile and haven't gotten any bigger. I was worried it would ruin the overall integrity but they seem to be contained. Will be purchasing other sizes.

I tried to cancel my order 5 minutes after placing it when I saw the negative reviews, but it was already too late. They must pick and pack at a rip! Anyway it arrived next day, and with the negative reviews in mind we have been very cautious in our use of the pan. We have a rule that we never turn the heat above 6 (of 9 settings on our ceramic hob), and turn it down to 5 as soon as possible, and never leave it unattended. Luckily it conducts well so doesn't take long to heat up. We keep it exclusively for eggs, either fried or omelettes, and so far, after nearly four weeks of almost daily use, it has never yet stuck, and we are very pleased with it. After use we just wipe with kitchen paper, and it's perfectly clean. The other thing we are careful of is never to subject it to sudden changes of temperature, so we wouldn't put it into water whilst hot. It is just set to the back of the hob to cool down slowly. My husband's only complaint is that the inside bottom could be more rounded to facilitate tossing. He likes his omelettes well done, and tosses them in the air to turn them over. It works, but he has had to develop a slightly different technique. All in all we think it was money well spent.Follow up 1 Feb 2018: I bought this in January 2016 and 2 years later, having been burnt to a cinder when I accidentally left it on full heat, it is still going strong. Took a bit of elbow grease and ceramic cleaner, but I got it clean, with just a hint of greyness in places, and its still shiny smooth. I'm impressed. Now I want a bigger one.

I read a lot of very negative reviews about this little number. But was determined to still purchase it and find out what the issues were. I thought the price wasn't too steep for it to be worth testing out. And here is my opinion based on the different patterns of cooking life-style observed.I used this pan for over a year without a single problem. None of the issues warned by other buyers manifested. Until, my friend came to stay for 4 months whilst his house was being renovated. During his stay with me, he fried up a regular storm in the pan. And voila, all the issues materialised in all their glory! So my guess is that this ceramic pan, was really designed for people who fry food occasionally.Very occasionally. As a rule I don't fry my food. So without sounding too smug, it really only suits people who eat healthily. If you like your good old fry up on a regular basis, the price should be a good indicator!!!!! You really need a sturdy, solid tank of a thing. And it will cost you what it's worth. Paying £30 odd quid for equipment that you expect to stand up to your heavy-weight frying habits, is a little bit hopeful. So stretch your wallet a bit you stingy so and so.'s. Or better still change your eating habits! Smack done, I'll leave you alone and go to peel my grape.

There seems to be plenty of controversy about ceramic frying pans and how durable the internal ceramic finish is. Because of the other reviews I've seen I've waited a while to comment on this Kuhn Rikon 26cm model. This is a nicely weighted and balanced pan - it's not too heavy but heavy enough to convince you of its even heat conduction properties and overall quality. The substantial handle feels firmly affixed and remains cool.Although this pan is a designed for use with induction cookers the makers claim it is equally at home being used on electric or gas hobs. I have been using it on a gas hob and it works well. The heat across the pan base is evenly distributed and it responds quite swiftly to changes in the amount of heat applied to it.The ceramic non-stick properties are effective and are noticeable particularly when cooking certain foods such as eggs etc. which can be prone to sticking. I have found because of its effective non-stick properties you can get away with using much less oil/fat in this frying pan.Having owned this pan for some time now plus using and cleaning it in accordance with the Kuhn Rikon instructions it shows no sign of deterioration in relation to the interior surface and the cooking performance remains excellent. Recommended.

This pan is wonderful to cook in and quite wide so good for two steak burgers at once. Haha. Food can get stuck on it so don't buy if looking for non stick while cooking cause you will have to clean any bunrt food off. Cleaning is super easy depending on the extent of burn. Make sure you clean immediately after use while warm and under warm running tap water and also use a Foam based scrubber not the scouring scrubber so as not to destroy the special coating on the ceramic pan surface. Remember this pan is aceramic pan so it retains heat much longer than normal metal pans and heats up really quickly so have that in mind in other to minimise food burning and I reckon you will be fine.Use as much OIL as required in your cooking or suffer the consequences. Great buy overall.

I have in the course of life, had so many frying pans that are supposed to be non-stick. Invariably, they usually do and, in the course of thinks have you going quietly mad! So, I was somewhat sceptical about the "so called" non-stick properties thet were on the label attched to this. Was I wrong! Yest and I admit freely that this is a superbly crafted item and, does indeed not stick. If taken care to follow the directions regarding it's care, I would see this as being the last frying pan I will ever need to buy. I can say with some confidence all of my cookware usually lasts well past it's allotted time. The key to this being, the care in washing and drying the items. This pan is no exception and,is probably one of the best buys in years.

Absolutely loving the new frying pan. We use it on an induction hob and previous cheap Ceramic pans have not fared at all well. This one is really well constructed out of thick aluminium and steel base. It looks and feels substantial yet not too heavy. The coating is obviously new and is very non-stick. One mistake we made with our other Ceramic was to use Olive Oil for frying which turns out to be a bad idea is it forms a coating on the pan that defeats the non-stick qualities. Who knew? So now we're using the recommended Peanut oil, or some regular Vegetable Oil where that suits better. Our results have been very successful. A great pan, I'd buy another when the time came.

I love this pan. Thought the ceramic idea sounded too good to be true, but I have had no issues with my induction pan. It's says induction on the handle so I am not sure if this multi tasks with other heat sources.Anyway I pre-seasoned as suggested and fried onions, cooked mince, cooked a one pan bolognaise, fried eggs and scrambled eggs. In all these cases, I let the pan cool down a bit, and wiped the residue off completely with some kitchen roll. This left the pan so clean looking it hardly looked liked it needed washing. Gave it light wipe with a soft cloth and hot water, and not a mark on it. Upgrading to the next size soon for my collection as soon as possible.

I ordered this at lunchtime, informed at dinner it was dispatched, received it next morning, that is the fasted ever.I used it and immediately ordered the 24cm one (it didnt come as Quickly|).I had been reading and watching the sales pitch on the the television about ceramic fryingpans and was in half a mind to get one. When i looked at my tefal pans they were bowed and misshapened so thought I'd try a ceramic one. This was a good move they are brilliant does every thing it says very robust and really easy to clean.I did purchase what I thought was the best on offer. One very happy Shopper.

Like other users, I have found that the initially impressive non-stick qualities disappear after a few months. They seem to be the result of some sort of thin water repellent finish that goes away. After that, everything sticks to a surprising degree, almost seeming to react with the pan to form a black sticky coating. The surface does not peel, and can still be cleaned, so at first I thought it was alright, but I got fed up with having to work harder and harder to get it clean, and have given up in favour of the 'Multicook' 26cm which is keeping it's non-stick surface well.

A lovely big frying pan very quick delivery very well packed good size for any large family I would recommend you to use a tiny bit of oil or nob of butter as it dose tend to stick even though it states no oil needed over all its well worth the money.I would recommend this to any one wanting a good frying pan to get this its a bit on heavy side no good for any one that suffers with Artheritis in hands its too heavy but its very stable. No need to worry about it falling of any electric appliance what every stove you use it on lay's really flat plus very good quality ceramic.
