I'm definitely one for enjoying music on the move and sharing my latest iTunes and Spotify treasures with friends and family, so when I stumbled across this portable speaker from KitSound, I thought I'd give it a go.On first receiving the speaker I liked the fact that I could see the "collapsed" product in the packaging. Although, I was surprised by the size of the packaging compared to the product... A minor detail but it did seem larger than necessary, however, there would be no chance that it could get damaged in transit.Once I opened the packaging I was actually quite impressed with the structure of the box. The speaker itself was housed in a clear plastic that mirrored the shape of the speaker. The main box also included a small User Manual and charging cable. When I took the speaker out of the packaging my initial reaction was that the product had a sturdy build, with a matte black finish and smart KitSound branding on the top of the device. The jack cable is found underneath the speaker and slots neatly into the base and extends easily when pulled.I then opened the speaker to reveal the "piano accordion-like" body. At this point you can see where the speaker gets its name from; it is very futuristic looking, modern and I suppose, quite "boyish". Three corners of the speaker are buttons for: the power, volume up and volume down, which is both neat and easily accessible.I then plugged the speaker into my iPod and a bright blue LED light indicated that the speaker was on. I chose a song to listen to and suddenly my room was filled with sound. I tested the speaker for volume, sound clarity and general sound quality. Well, for £30 I do not know what more you could ask for? The sound that was amplified clearly around my room was enjoyable to listen to and very impressive for such a small device. The four "feet" of the speaker mean that unlike other portable speakers that I have purchased in the past, it did not move along a flat surface - always good when listening to music loudly... On closing the speaker it is easy to push the body of the device back together and with a slight twist you can clip the top of the speaker back into the original collapsed shape.Overall, for the money spent, I am very happy with this purchase. The speaker has a quirky look to it with an impressive sound quality and reaches volumes a lot larger than its physical self. I would recommend this speaker for festivals, listening to music outside or as a travel companion.

Kitsound has taken the term 'portable' to a whole new level; we are usually sceptical about speakers that come in small sizes as they can be so dull when it comes to performance. Designing a speaker that is so small can often prove difficult because the designer will end up compromising sound quality for the sake of size. Kitsound has managed to not only design a futuristic looking speaker, but they have also managed to produce great sound quality out of the tiny Invader.KITSOUND INVADER Unboxing and First LookThe design is somewhat simple yet eye catching and stands out from the crowd. The simple packaging means it was so easy to unpack it and get hands on the Kitsound Invader itself.Been a portable capsule speaker, it fits in the palm of the hand which is how small and portable it is. Around the device are clearly marked locations for where volume keys are, the power button, the open instruction and some ports for connectivity and recharging the device. The invader sounds great closed, although the sound you get will sound compressed until you unleash the full power of the speaker by rotating the top area to reveal the rest of the speaker. Once extended, the sound produced sounds even better, with base pumping and it is almost shocking to believe that such a miniature device can produce such a clear sound with no crackling even at the highest volume. The Invader has a richer, fuller sound than most standard capsule speakers. Its middle, which expands like an accordion, mimics the resonance of a sub-woofer, meaning it's capable of producing explosive volume and bass more than ten times its physical size. Not only that, but its 42 mm driver also means high quality sound and clear bass, and if you still want more, the Invader's buddy jack allows you to connect a row of speakers together for increased volume and depth of sound. The Invader's built-in battery takes just 2 hours to charge and lasts for up to 6 hours and during our tests, it lasted just as it says on the tin. What is also amazing about this gadget is how you can connect multiple invaders together to get a synchronised louder sound. In conclusion, we have been impressed with the Kitsound Invader and would recommend it for anyone looking for something portable. The only negative point is how small the 3.5mm cable is meaning you are always attached very close to the source of music.

I received this speaker with the simple expectation that it will help me to share my music on the go. I can confidently say that this does much more than that. The case the device came in was decent. Inside the packaging were the stylish device itself, a user guide and a USB charging cable. The manual was simple and effective however the device is self-explanatory and easy to use.The device is very small when collapsed which makes it very portable. It has a nice matte finish similar to other kit products and has nice blue highlights. One thing that should have been noted is that the buttons are actually on the blue lining and not on the logo. The device has only three buttons- power and two volume keys.Underneath the device sits a 3.5mm jack which you can connect any standard iPod or MP3 to. On the side, there is an LED and a micro USB port. The device runs of an internal battery which is charged in about 2 hours. The first thing I noticed about the audio was the volume, for such a small device, the audio is very loud. The audio quality however is the most impressive part of the device. On the top of the device you can pull out the patented vacuum technology. With the vacuum up, the bass was deep and the audio quality significantly improved. The audio quality is crisp and the bass is quite good for such a small device.Altogether I can conclude this is a great product. It is cheap however has great quality and a range of features which beats any speaker in the same price range.

Quite frankly I don't know where to start with the Kitsound Invader. For all the right reasons! This portable speaker has all the qualities you expect from Kitsound's spectacular portfolio, but also many other key features I should definately highlight. From the minute you get this boy out of the modern Kitsound packaging it screams volume. Carefully unfolding the transparent packaging the black and blue speaker pops out and is in your hand to stay; on the move or not! Branded in one corner, on/off in another and volume up & down in the remaining, the easy to use speaker is a fantastic mini speaker to rival the best on the market. The blue LED light is a great feature that sits just above the micro usb charging point; fantastically convenient for a quick charge at home or in the car on the move. With a 3.5mm jack, if your tunes aren't satisfying the party someone else's can - compatible with almost any device, including the iP5 & S4. At a slightly higher price point than that of others on the market I for one was skeptical of the purchase, however when the collapsible centre is put to use and the music is amplified this speaker is well worth the pennies. The INVADER was just perfect for my Easter break, easily fitting in the side of my rucksack with plenty of room to spare the mighty volume and quality sound played practically all night with the incredible 6 hours battery life - All in all a very highly recommended purchase.

Eventually, I found that this little speaker was exactly what I wanted.Eventually, because, like several other reviewers, I only discovered after a while that the on/off switch has to be held down, and was on the point of returning it. The brief instructions do not mention this. The sound quality is good, especially considering the size, obviously nowhere near that provided by good headphones, but it is well balanced, which is all you can expect. The integral lead is very short, but I use a separate lead by choice, as I have found that the weak point with some headphones is the lead.Another positive with this speaker is the volume control - some types do not have this, but rely on that of the source.I was about to dump an old digital radio, as the speaker had ceased to function, and the headphone socket, with no volume control, was far too powerful for me.Other points - the charge/play times seem about right, the speaker cone seems well protected, the LED light is quite bright, and the mini USB connection supplied seems to be the only one that works. When retracted, the speaker is surprisingly small.

Arrived super quickly. Knew about the great quality this little guy is capable of in sound, as a friend of mine had bought one in a supermarket. It was the last one, and they never re-ordered (their loss!), that's why I ordered from Amazon.Advantages:- very small, you can close it by pushing it down and twist it, which is how I prefer to keep it when not using, so dust can't get inside- looks great. I wanted to buy in another colour but black was cheaper - honestly, it looks even nicer than on photos- sound quality can be increased when opened up- did not even have to charge it up before first use! workes like magic ever since, although I don't use it that often.- someone here commented that sound gets even better when you have at least two - so that's my only regret now. Maybe I'll get a little buddy for this one later on. Honestly, for this price, this is a gift.Disadvantage(s): none! go get one! (okay, just one: the user's manual - for some reason - will not mention how to turn it on. Which is baffling...just keep the power button pushed down until you see the light, that's all.)

Looking at the Kit Sound Invader you wouldn't expect it to pack the sort of power that it does, the saying little things do make big noises definitely holds credibility. The Invader has a stylish matte finish, and the lightweight and compact design means I can travel around with it in my bag so I am ready for great music whenever I want. The audio quality and bass for such a small speaker are amazing, and it really is a worthwhile product to have with you on the go. Another positive is that it only takes a couple of hours to charge the internal battery which is great for when I am in a rush. The Invader recently became a great little addition to a girl's holiday to get us in the party mood beforehitting the town and the following day by the pool when we "needed to relax..."I would highly recommend the KitSound Invader to anyone who needs a portable speaker that won't fail them.A fantastic product for such a good price...."Please don't stop the music"

I purchased this item as I required a travel speaker as well as a solution for listening to music whilst having a shower! I was happy to pay a premium price as I was looking for a long term solution as opposed to cheap option. The item itself is very rugged and sturdy. I love the matte finish / design.. The sound generated is fantastic! It's crazy to think that such noise can be generated through such a small speaker.I have also been using the speaker to improve sound quality on my laptop (I often watch films in bed and this speaker brings the experience to life)Recommended!

I purchased this item as i have been looking for a portable speaker for a while. This item was a reasonable price so i thought i would give it a go. When i received the item i was impressed with the design and the size of it. it was easy to use and quick to charge. the battery life is good and suitable for the amount of time that you would need to use it for. the sound is brilliant, for such a small device the sound quality is excellent. very pleased with this item - well done kitsound! Would definitely recommend.

Amazing little speaker, i use it at work after hours to entertain the staff whilst we close shop or for general use at home! The quality is amazing, it's so easy to put away and it's so light it barely adds weight to your bag. It's so cute and for something so small it's so powerful!! The battery seems to lasting forever too, I've had it for at least 2 weeks and I've not had to charge it once yet!!

Took me a while to work out the instructions. The symbols for the on/off and volume controls aren't the bits you press! You press on the coloured wavy line below that. Also need to hold down the on button for a while. Once mastered however it's really good for boosting my phone's volume enough to hear audio books on the motorway. My car is too old to have a connector! Usb charging is easy.

This speaker is a fantastic bit of kit. Didn't know what to expect from such a small speaker but it copes with the bass and treble on all the songs I have put it to the test with. As a lover of music I am always wary of small speakers but think that these have been a great buy and would recommend them to anyone who wants compact speakers for traveling around.

I love this little speaker. I actually sent my first one back thinking it was faulty but didn't realise you have to hold the on switch down to turn it on. I got it right the second time though. Sending it back was no problem I just felt a bit silly when I realised my mistake. It has a very good sound for the size of it and looks really cool.

1.9.2015

I was looking to replace my 2.0 mains powered speakers and after finding this by accident, I have to say I was highly impressed by the quality of sound for the cost value. The playback battery lifespan - so far - has been far longer than the 2 hours it recommends which has been a major bonus.

Bought as a present for my brother as he was really impressed with my girlfriends one. Can go quiet loud and retain decent sound quality (as long as you don't blast it) if it is quiet it may be your device. (S3 playing music was very quiet in comparison to an iPod). Battery lasts a bit too.
