I bought this item during the first great pandemic of the 2020s when all you could do was eat and stare out the window after hearing some one state that home made crisps were the best in some quickly forgotten box set, now being totally fed up with the usual suspects and the awful walkers and dioritoes and the supermarket delivery guys always substituting your favourite items and I'm not kidding when one week i received 5 bags of kale as a substitute.... I obtained this utensil in the mail. It was reasonably well made inexpensive and good for the occasional usage the key here being occasional. It doesn't have legs like some you see so every slice or two you need to remove the sliced item.I found holding at an angle you had to be super careful as the carriage that holds the veg? in place is only held on with your hand pressure and can if you get to judicious come off the rails at either edge. The cutting edge is super sharp so a very genteel slicing motion is called for, obviously if your in a rush this would not be a recommended item I would go for something metal but you'll pay a lot more for that so for the price this is very good. I now have the mandoline bug so am looking to buy a more upmarket one as I can see lots of cabbage and veg being sliced up in my post corona world, its either that or buy a whole new wardrobe.I digress homemade crisps really are the future and if you are making some here's a few tips, boil your slices for 2 minutes to release the starches then rinse and rinse and rinse to remove all that starch this is the most important thing to a successful crisp up, dry them and cook? Myself I don't fry things so i rubbed some olive oil on a baking tray heated in oven then added the sliced potatoes with a little onion powder and half way through a squirt of vinegar and some salt and pepper when i turned them over.Of course in the real world a Saturday night with some sliced cabbage and a low fat mayo watching that stalinist epic is equally as good as you drift off with dreams of monumental savings and more and a wish that you'd done better in life. Still there's always facebook..So to recap a useful gadget but not the highest quality my main concern being the flanged piece that dictates the thickness of that luscious slice is quite flexible and can jam up if your not careful and try to be to dextrous so you need to be 100% alert and not in a rush to use. This is a good item but care needs to be taken...

Wifey bought one of these a while back. She swears by it. My best friend and his wife came over for a weekend, and after his wife said how much she loved using our one, wifey asked me to buy her one too. She is very happy. Allows you to adjust the thickness of the slices. Good quality item. Hasn't let us down yet. Be careful though, I have cut myself using it, but that could be due to my uselessness in the kitchen.

I have already a professional grade stainless steel mandolin, but to be honest by the time I have it set up, I could and have done the job with this handy slicer.Great piece of kit so easy to use, clean and store away.Glad I don't have to wrestle with my leviathan every time now.

Have been looking for the most simple version of this for ages now. Finally find this one. Still slightly over engineered but ok. The thinnest setting is still a few mm thick. Great for making my veg go further.

Very good piece of kitchen equipment. Thin slices are really thin and it is simple to use but safe as it has a two piece gaurd
