I was after a lens hood and this is one of two I ordered - this one being a perfect fit for the standard 18-55 lens supplied with a Canon EOS 600D and at a fraction of the price of the genuine Canon branded part. From what I can make out the parts appear almost identical save for the branding and lets face it, it is a piece of plastic and I didn't really want to pay over the odds for a genuine Canon one. That said, I have no reason to question the quality of the "plastic" used for this JJC replacement as its as sturdy and well finished as I would expect it to be in order for it to last whilst doing its job!Supplied in a JJC printed retail box I had it fitted to the lens within seconds (literally)without issue. Ordered from Powerplanet (as they had it at the best price when ordering and) it arrived well packaged and well within the delivery window set by Amazon.Has to be five stars in all respects.UPDATE: 22nd November 2013No issues at all with item which is still in use :-)

I looked around for a lens hood for my Canon 18-55 lens & was about to buy the original hood offered by Canon when I came across this one at a fraction of the cost. Previous reviewers state it's as good as the original from canon & I wholeheartedly agree. It fits perfectly & I didn't have any problems attaching it & does ' what it says on the tin'.I'm sooo pleased with my purchase & glad I didn't pay for the more expensive item. Most lens hoods are made from plastic & you only end up paying for the Canon branding. Another point was delivery was super quick, ordered 3pm & delivered the following morning. Can't ask for more than that. Overall, a great quality product at a fantastic price.

I bought this for my Canon 550D's kit lens after seeing the rather hefty price for the original counterpart by Canon (it's plastic - I don't want to pay over £10!). I must say after having used this for a few months now that it does the job with no problems. The plastic I cannot say is cheap, it feels well built and sturdy. It was a little tight to screw on top of the filter but I was able to get it on and I leave it on the lens permanently (without flipping it inside out) since it doesn't protrude the camera very far.All in all, I would purchase this again and I will recommend this to others - it is most certainly a worthy investment for the price you pay!

I was looking for a 18 - 55mm Canon EF-S kit lens hood that won't introduce severe vignetting at wide angles. Normally the petal shaped hoods are not able to do this for my lens or provide appropriate shade as the front needs to be rotated for focus. This hood does the trick but is too narrow to be of much use against flaring.I knew that but given that a narrow hood is required to avoid vignetting and I needed one hood for all angles, I went for this.It provides some level of protection against water and accidental banging. It is indeed a tight fit as the last reviwer has also mentioned.Giving it a 4 as I knew what I was going for and got exactly that.

I bought this for my standard Canon EFS 18-55mm lens.It fits easily - the inner edge of the hood has a number of "teeth", which you must align with groves on the lens, gently push the hood and against the lens and rotate it to fix it in place. Just make sure you switch to manual focus (from AF to MF).The build quality - what's there to quality? It's a plastic hood. As far as plastic goes and as far as my limited knowledge of plastic types permits, it seems reasonable (?).The only gripe I have with the hood is that it's actually quite short, so quality improvements are questionable... Could be a bit longer.

I needed this for one of my lenses as I didn't want to have to swap off my other one all the time. The design is good and it fits very well. Plastic doesn't feel cheap and it's strong too. I dropped a lens on it's front and it landed on this lens hood. The hood was in one piece but more importantly my lens was too!Good for what it is, not fair to compare to the adjustable ones but for space saving and usability it's an excellent alternative. In actual use I found it to bee deep enough to give adequate shading.

I have just come back from a holiday in Cuba and this lens hood has earned its place in my gadget bag. It seems to be as well made as the Canon original, but unlike some reviewers I had no trouble mounting and dismounting it from my lenses EF 28 - 80mm f3.5 - 6.6 V USM and EF-S 18 - 55mm f3.5 - 5.6 II, also I had no problems with vignetting at the wide angle end of the zoom range. If the lens hood had been more effective at preventing flare I would have given it five stars.

OK it's not Canon brand but to be fair compare this to a canon one it's cheaper and it's ok just to leave on the lens, i for one wouldn't keep taking it off and on as it might break! that dosen't mean this hood is thin but to be fair compare to price to product it's cheap it does what it was ment to do if you know any photography work. There are many 60C out there on amazon and ebay but i find this one better then a ebay one.

I had previously purchased a rubber type foldable lenshood, which screwed into the filter thread, but found this unsutable, so was about to buy a very expensive Canon lenshood. As far as I can tell this is exactly the same as the Canon hood it replaces, but is below half the price. It is basically a piece of plastic, as is the Canon one, which clips over the lens.It seems an excellent buy.

So This lens hood is pretty good, the reason I chose 4 stars was because it was a little stiff getting onto the lens itself and I have a Canon 600D (T3i) with the standard kit lens 18-55mm, it does block out sunlight and within 3 days of ordering with standard delivery it turned up, I suggest getting over the Petal lens as some get in the way of the focus point, overall great product. :)

As said in the title I can't see any reason to pay any more for a cannon hood as this seems identical! Not sure entirely on its advantages as its so short but it has to be like this so it's not visible in the edges of the shot at widest setting, but at this price it's a no brainier if only to offer some protection to the front glass!

This appears to be a strong well made hood that does the job required. It does seem expensive for what is a fairly basic bit of plastic, you can buy kids toys that are made with more detail and a hundred times more plastic in them than this for a couple of quid, however compared to the Canon version the JJC version is very cheap.

Luckily, this one is just easy enough to install or remove on my camera's kit lens and isn't fixing to fall off. It clearly does the limited job a hood can do on a lens with this range of focal lengths to keep the sun out without blocking off the corners of the image.I can't see how the OEM one could be that much better.

A bit stiff to fit at first and can be fitted back to front to allow it to stay on the camera when a semi-hard case is used. When fitting to a Canon lens be aware that the lens front ring rotates to focus so best way is to zoom in a little to allow you to hold the focusing ring still while attaching the hood.

After looking around at what to purchase and reading different reviews online I thought I would take a chance on this and I'm so glad I did. It fits perfectly on the standard Canon Lens I got with my 450D and it was a fraction of the 'Canon' lens hood.
