Not being silly about this, but it was about time and long overdue.Reason is quite simple in ye "olde" days everyone was using normal side pinch caps, problem was if you had a hood fitted you had to take it off to remove the lens cap. A bit of a pain really.The centre pinch design allows you do remove the caps either on the outside or in the centre, you get the best of both worlds.Everyone else had this design years ago (quite a few years at that)I wouldn't rush out and replace all your lens caps just for this, but it's good to see this minor annoyance finally sorted out. And newer lenses are shipping with the new centre pinch caps too. Well done Canon!

As there are dozens of similar looking no-name caps, you need a reason to spend the extra on this genuine Canon version.I did, to replace the supplied Fuji one on my XF 14mm lens, because the supplied one is dreadful. This is great - and even better than the Nikon ones everyone raves about, because the "pinch" parts just above and below the logo are angled slightly outward on these, so you can get even better grip. I know I'm reviewing a lens cap, but these are very good.

Nothing wrong with the old one - 58mm was just the right size for an older lens I had, and cheaper because of being commonly used, but this one does turn out to be a bit easier to use on the kit lens with a hood in place. Ordered when this item was temporarily out of stock from Amazon, but I am sure I waited less time than I have waited for in-stock items from other suppliers.

Bought this because the rubbish included cap with my 50mm 1.4 dropped off somewhere at a festival but to be honest they should have included this one to begin with - it's far more reliable. If you own the same lens just buy one now and avoid looking like an idiot protecting your lens' glass in a festival field with card and tape.

A correctly sized and practical replacement lens cap for the inevitable times you lose one.I've now lost lens caps into Plitivice Lakes and Niagara Falls, carrying a spare in the bag makes a lot of sense!Obviously paying slightly more for the Canon logo on it, but at less than £10 it isn't too bad at all.

It does the job I bought it for, which was to sit on the front of a 70 - 210mm lens I bought from eBay. It looks nice, has a centre-pinch design so it can easily be removed when I have a lens hood on, was delivered promptly, was well packaged and didn't cost much.So that's a job well done, I'd say.

Original canon 58mm lens cap, that'll fit over your 58mm lenses or also over your filters. Nice quick release grips that you pinch together to remove off the lense/filter or vice verse to attach to the lense/filter. Nicely made to the quality you'd expect from the Canon brand.

It is good to see this type of lens cap for Canon lenses. It is very handy that you don't need to remove the lens hood to cover the lens although I still find myself pinching the outside of the cap – old habits die hard. It feels more securely attached than the old one I lost.

This is not a cap for your head to make you look like a camera: I learned this the hard way.Instead, its a perfect little replacement for the cap on your camera lens. It seems to me to be identical to the original one that i ate.

The lens cap is as described & reasonably priced. However, the cost of postage & packing was almost the same price as the item. £4.49 seems a little extortionate for an item which fits in a small envelope.

As with all canon kit, it works, fits as it should, no issues.Irdered from this company some months back the same canon cap, only to find it was a cheap knock off, so sent back and second time lucky!

Some of the older model canon lenses still come with a pinch cap which can be awkward if you are using a lens hood. Great to be able to use the new style. And now I have the other one as a spare.

I lost my old one so I was forced to buy this, it’s lucky I did otherwise my lens would probably be destroyed by now. Still good quality, just need to make sure I don’t lose this one this time.

As expected, Canon quality, the version 2 is a marked improvement over the 1 especially if you have the lens hood attached. With version 1 it made removing the lens cap very difficult indeed.

Works a treat, holds strong and stops my camera taking on dust when not in operation.The internal pinch cap is my preference with cap, bit easier to get off in a hurry.Good Cap
