As per other reviews, the fitting of this Lens Hood is slightly fiddly (though in no way difficult), due to the design of the lock ring which secures the hood to the lens. The Hood is fairly easy to detach and reverse for storage, although perhaps not as sturdy as the more traditional fitting of some others I own.The bottom line is that the hood offers some good protection to the lens, blocks out unwanted glare, and looks "right" on the 50mm ES lens it was purchased for.

As I bought this item as a Christmas present for my partner I have no idea how good it is or isn't!What I do know is that it was easy to order, arrived a day ahead of estimated delivery and most important of all.... he thinks it's brilliant and tells me it was a very good choice. Bought this on recommendation from another site as being a better hood for canons 500mm fixed lens - and it's proven the case. Had excellent results, and zero problems. As with all hoods its going to 'fatten' your kit and take up room in your bag, I stopped using my usual 'grab bag' because it was too tight a fit.

A good hood, I have a hoya UV digital pro-1 filter attached on the front element of my EF 85mm f1.8 lens to which this hood attaches securely. It only loses a star because the price for a bit of plastic (albeit with a fabric internal lining to limit reflections) is really rather high.

Cannon baffle me with their gouging for bits of black plastic. This works the same as the original, clips on and the range is perfect (i.e. no vignetting and works throughout the zoom range perfectly). great really for a third of the price of the Canon bit of black plastic. :)

Does the trick, slightly unusual way of mounting this but the same as the Canon one. No flocking inside and a bit cheap feeling but doesn't rattle about, get in the way of pictures or fall off the camera. Most importantly, it protects that element at the front.

The build quality and fit is nothing short of what you would expect of an OE Cannon product, it does the job for something so small and i would have given it 5* if it wernt for the price. Put it this way you get what you pay for....top quality fit and build.

It's flimsy and not the same quality as a Canon lens hood, but hey, this is cheap and cheerful and does the job! It's worked perfectly well for my requirements and I'm happy to not have had to pay the extortionate Canon price for such a simple accessory.

Come on Canon why such a bad bit of design, why a two piece lens hood with brittle plastic lugs? If you want a lens hood for your nifty fifty you'll have to buy into this but I can't help feeling canon could do better. Still love my nifty fifty though.

Where my camera is concerned only the best is good enough, yes i could have got a cheap chinese knock off from the auction site but i know this has the flock lining to stop lense flare.Great product and worth the extra.

Bought this for my brothers Canon 70D and he reports that it works very well at keeping those pesky unwanted light sources from blemeshing his images :) Good product, buy it :)

Works fine etc.Just that pressing the tabs on the side to retract the clips doesn't really work 100%.Design flaw? Or my 50?Either way once its on it works fine.
