This lenshood is extraordinarily well made for its price. Hama accessories aren't always, their polarisers are a little iffy and wear quickly. This hood feels it will last.The design harks back to the days when cameras came with a 50mm lens as standard (hence the term, 'standard'.) They didn't come with lenshoods and you'd buy such as this, collapsible for storing in the camera bag or to go in the oft used camera pouch.For those wishing to use it on a zoom lens, or indeed any lens that this hood was not designed for, DON'T. However good value something is, if it doesn't fit, and thus doesn't work, a complete waste of time.Using your free hand to block out the sun is better than using the wrong one,

Really good! I bought it for a Panasonic Leica 24mm f1.4 lens (micro four thirds) and couldn't be happier. It screws on with a high quality thread mount and the rubber hood itself collapses down for simple storage in my bag. Four stars as I think it's a lot of money for what type of product it is, and I'd buy more for my other lenses if cheaper, but it does the job and folds to a much smaller size than the stupid original hood that comes with this particular lens. I've also tried it on the Olympus 17mm f1.8 lens and had no issues with vignetting.

Excellent value, compared to the Nikon. However I've not had the Nikon version so I can't say if it is worth the extra cash.I bought this for taking pictures of animals at the zoo, many of them are behind glass screens which has caused problems in the past with reflections. It worked well, especially if the shot was obtained with the lens square to the glass.It is now permanently attached to my 50mm lens as it folds back nicely. I've had no problems with vignetting, even with an additional sky light filter attached.

I like these rubber hoods. Fold flat when not in use, pop out when required. Much quicker than taking a solid hood on and off, reversing it onto the front of the lens, all that stuff takes time.For a 50mm plus focal length, a circular hood like this is OK. Less than 50mm and you really need a petal type hood to avoid cutting out the light at the sides.Very securely attached of course when screwed on.They don't seem to perish with age either, just go on for decades.Try one, it is not too expensive.

This is exactly wot I wanted. It came in good time and with sufficient packaging. I wanted this hood as it is of rubber, there can be places where you accidentally hit something with your lens. A plastic lens has more chance to transfer that shock to your lens. So I wanted a rubber lens. It also collapses perfectly so that I can go wide on my lens without vignetting. Also has rims for fitting the lens cap and additional filters. I only buy value for money items being a miser. This is value for money.

I bought this item to fit onto a Canon 58mm AF Zoom lens. It fitted perfectly, and not only does the hood do the hooding thing keeping glare from the lens, the rubber structure provides a modicum of protection for the end of the lens - enough to save it from damage by a klutz like me. Cheap, easy to fit and effective. The only down side of the silicon rubber materials is that it seems to attract fluff, especially that from our cat. Nevertheless, a great item.

I used to have a rubber hood on my old film SLR's 50mm lens many years ago, and have been meaning to get one for my DSLR for ages.This is a great hood, fits the Nikon 50mm D perfectly. The thread is actually metal, which was a surprise for such a cheap hood.Best of all, as it's retractable you can just leave it on the lens. No need to remove it to put the lens in a bag, plus it gives the lens some cushioning and protection.

Great idea to sub for a large rigid hood. The double thread means you fit onto the filter screw (not the bayonet ring) and then add the filter to the hood. Although not as deep as I would have liked it does protect the lens well as the rubber is soft and forgiving so less likely to crack or brake. The great thing is you just push back the outer edge to flatten the whole hood in line with the lens so storage is quick and easy.

As Ive said, fine product ....... but watch out when takeing photos wide angle you will get slight vigetting. but apart from that keeps unwanted light from spilling and refracting in the lens causeing light flare.This fits fine and tight and puls right back out of the way when not in use, and Ive a skylight filter and a adapter for fitting filters and the like on to my camera.My kit is a CANON SX10 is.

This is a nice simple hood that helps prevent light in many situations. It is not as good as a full hood but is better than no hood at all. It folds back on itself and is rather neat. It screws on easily to my Hoya filter.Although it might not be everyone's favourite choice, for the price you can't get anything better.

Does the job nicely, pictures appear to have a tad less flare and therefore more crisp and better contrast. Subtle difference depending on light but seems to work quite well when pointing at subjects in front of a white background. Collapses nicely too and lens cap still fits on too.

I prefer the foldable rubber lens hoods before the hard plastic ones. It is always there when you need it and folded back it offers some protections from bumps.The rubber may die with time, but it is cheap enough to allow me to buy a new one when that day comes.

Rather than having a lens hood that has to be removed, I found this an all enduring rubber moulded one that will fold back out of the way. It goes a long way to protecting my camera lens too.A worthwhile buy at a fair price.Thanks for reading my short review.

It's a budget, great value for money accessory, which protects the edges of your lens/filter mounts, it comes off of course when on-camera flash is used on close up work (otherwise you get it's shadow on bottom half of horizontal picture)

I chose this Rubber Lens hood because I find it much easier than a Petal lens hood which has to be removed each time I put my camera away.It stays on my camera & I can just collapse it when I'm done.I would recommend this to anyone.
