It is a nice toy, but I have some gripes, especially with power arrangement. I cannot get my head around, why Mattel's chosen to use AA batteries to power controllers and AAA to power cars and not vice-a-versa? I am guessing that cars drain more than controllers, so it would kinda logic, to provide bigger capacity batteries for them as they are not much bigger than AAA. Another issue which I had is accessibility to batteries' compartment. After a few replacement/recharging sessions, I bet a bottom dollar that either screws or plastic threads will give up and won't be possible to tighten compartment's lid. There is an USB slot at the top of car's body, but according to Mattel's it isn't provided for charging purpose,

This is truly the best present my little boy, his little 6 year old face when he played with it at Christmas was so happy. The cars work off track too but I had to set it up, the track is a bit fiddly on a hard floor but I'm in a wheel chair. But he will learn to piece together track as he can play on his own if he turned on the AI on the second car, if I buy more cars he can have groups of friends over to play.

We’ve already got a set of this but with different cars, my boy is car mad! So I already know that the cars are super quick and the track is pretty big to make up.The best think I like is the fact that you can unscrew the shells and change the design of the cars and wheels!Great buy :)Thank you!Read full review...

My 3.5 year old loves this. Easy enough to set up and the cars stay on track thanks to the AI.I think if he was 5 or 6 it may be a bit boring as I'm not sure there is enough racing skill involved. But for a 3 year old at 40 quid, this is perfect.

Great fun and very clever design but cars wont drive back onto track if playing on wood floors and wheels pick up any pet hairs and very hard to untangle
