Anki Overdrive has been around a couple of years now, I bought it for my son Christmas of 2015 when it was very much the must have Christmas gift. It was a big hit straight away combining real racing with iPad connectivity.Jumping forward a couple of years see’s Anki partnering with Fast and Furious to offer this new revamped starter kit.The boxed contains everything you need to get going, all very neatly packed and importantly as its quite a large kit it all packs away in the box again well for storage. The magnetic track pieces clip together very easily to form a smooth racing track with up to 4 lanes. The track pieces come together to form up to 8 different circuits,despite taking up a lot of floor space the circuits are relatively small, this can be addressed by buying additional track but this is rather expensive and takes up even more floor space. The track that comes with this set is 3 straight track pieces, 1 exclusive Power Zone track piece, 6 90º curved track pieces, 12 guardrails and 2 riser pieces (these risers allow for the track to form a bit of a bridge).Also in the box you get 1 Dom’s Ice Charger, 1 Hobbs’ International MXT, 1 four-car charging platform and 1 tire cleaner. The tyre cleaner is important as you will find out, sometimes the cars start to come off the track but this can easily be remedied with the tyre cleaner. Game play is a lot of fun going head to head with a friend or up against the computer, better still having a 4 way race with an extended track (gets expensive but my boy loves having his mates round to play on this). The App is fantastic, its laid out just like you would expect from a games console, improving your skills allows you to unlock new weapons and progress. The sound effects that come from the iPad really enhance the game play and there is great rivalry when you take out another player.The downsides are the cars do come off the track now and then, the track takes up a lot of space, the additional track is very expensive and game play can become repetitive with the small tracks. The fact that I’ve been able to add this kit to my original starter kit has given Anki a new lease of life in my house and it’s a big hit again.In summary it’s much more reliable and fun than Scalextric but for longevity and game play you are better off getting a racing game for your Xbox or PS4.

This is the most exciting car racing game I've ever played - because play is via an app on your phone or tablet, it's somewhat like a computer game in that you can unlock abilities, take on challenges and either race against a virtual player or a real player also equipped with the app. Unlike other systems the cars are robust and work every time, with no broken wing mirrors or failed contacts with the track.In the box you get enough track for several different configurations, a car charger and the two "fast and furious" vehicles. In challenge mode you play against characters from the film. Gameplay is indeed fast and furious and ultimately lots of fun!Good points are that the car mainly stays on the track; a clever system means the cars scan the track, and the app is well done. The track fits together easily and magnetically - another plus to this system. When you play, it's quite compelling trying to unlock weapons and get the leds flashing as you hit your opponent'a car with virtual weapons or "hack" them causing confusion by running over the sensor on the track. It's fab to play and levelling up the car is challenging but not over-frustrating.So why four stars? Firstly the cars are a little too similar to each other for easy differentiation and this is a bit annoying when racing. On a plus you can add cars and track to this system but both are prohibitively expensive in my opinion. Although this set does feel like it's got great system back up it's not perfect and sometimes the cars drop out or get lost. Steering as such is lane changing and the accelerator is only as good as the speed of your wifi. The app does not appear to work with fire, but works seamlessly on apple and other android devices.Overall a fun experience. I would recommend it if racing fun is your objective and money is no object.

It’s an excellent set! And adding to it just makes the fun last longer! The two apps each have separate campaigns and so there is hours of fun you can have even if the wife doesn’t want to race you!We have the starter set and the Fast and Furious starter set! And they are both awesome! 4 cars is so much better! Racing with friends or against the Ai or both at the same time!It’s actually brilliant!I have always loved scaletrix sets and wasn’t sure how I felt about this. But the track is super durable and it snaps together so easily! It’s so easy to change the layout!The in app money you earn buys you better weapons and abilities! You earn more in the campaign,but you also earn money racing friends!The selection of weapons is brilliant wether it’s a long range high powered sniper or an area of effect emp!I’ve even unlocked Nos which really kicks the back end out in a sharp corner!The box for both sets are really durable and perfect for storing the track and cars in when not being played with!Oh and the cars!! The cars are very durable and nicely detailed! They look brilliant!I would 100% recommend this to anyone who is contemplating it! It’s so worth it!I’m trying to find a negative...the only thing I can think is that the standard starter set doesn’t come with any barriers for the corners where as the Fast and Furious does. And especially with nos you need corner barriers!I am super happy with this! Now I need to buy the launch kit! (The jump)

This is the most amazing race car track I have ever come across. It certainly puts the old Scalextric sets in their place. The track is so easy to assemble, just click together and off you go. The cars are so clever that 90% of the time if they do come off the track (which isn't often at all) they find their own way back on. The app is easy to download and racing the cars with your phone is so easy and great fun. The fact that you can add additional track, Cars, weapons etc., is just great. I cannot rate this highly enough. I bought it for my adult son as a surprise Christmas present, not expecting too much, but it was a real highlight for everyone. Don't hesitate - buy it.

My son recieved this for his Christmas yesterday and so far it has had heaps of play. The track is made of flexible black plastic. You have to download the app which we managed not bother to 3 android devices and 1 iPad. Cars charge in 8 to 10 mins then they are ready to go. Lots of different modes/game play we haven't discovered them all yet. Great that you can play against the computer which means my son hasn't been pestering us tomllay all the time. Only thing us that it's pretty expensive and not easy to get hold of. Some shops appear to be stopping selling this, I hope it won't be discontinued...

Had this since Christmas and already expanded it with more track and cars. It has been good fun and had longer sessions on it than scalextric.The app is easy to use and works on various devices. But the Kndle Fire seemed to lose its connections to the cars on occasion. This is rectified by turning off WiFi and back on. Had no issue with an iPad mini or Galaxy S8 smartphone.Really good quality pieces too. Just be careful with the track as it can scratch. Also a dust magnet.

You got to buy this. I ordered it on Tuesday and it arrived on Thursday. Very easy to set up. Cars need 10 min to charge and run for 20min. You will need a smart phone to download the App and to operate the cars. We’ve had great fun banking the corners and raising the track. My kids are in their 20s and haven’t stopped laughing. Cars are really sturdy and rectify themselves after they turn a corner. Amazing piece of kit. Well worth £58.

I am not going to review this item again. Suffice it to say, we bought this second set of Anki Overdrive less than a week after Xmas. My kids are apoplectic with enjoyment of this game from opening the box of the starter kit. Its like PS4 in 3D with steroids. God bless the makers of this game! Well done, its good clean fun. And it works far beyond my expectations.

Amazing, hours of fun for the whole family. My 4 year old loves it and can play it better than me :/ This particular edition has some cool cars however you can add cars from the standard range and specials. I recommend buying one of the trucks, it changes the game and adds another dimension! :)

This is just great we have bought so many extras for this as so much fun for the family.You do need a large space to set up but the tracks you can design if you have bought the track packs or another starter pack ( guilty as charged ) are just amazing. Buy this game!

There are a lot of options with this toy, what is a little disappointing is the time you can use to the car till you have to recharge them.Other than that, great fun, shooting at other drivers, drive against computer generated drivers, different track options

Son is happy and it very easy to set up.. battery life is terrible though they play for like 10-15 mind they have to put the cars on charge now it is quick charge but it constant. So in my eyes not worth for the price but as I said son is happy enough.

Great kit, easy to set up and kids love it. Only issue is to keep the tracks and wheels clean plus I found turning off Pro Speed in the settings reduces speed, but it's still fast, and eliminates the spinning, reverse driving and track spin offs.

The Best Buy I have made in a long time, my son loves it and spends hours with it. He is meticulous in keeping the wheels clean and keeps it all in the box when not in use. I will buy more add on’s as it’s with every penny.

This was brought as a Christmas present for my Grandson and was an immediate hit with him. We were all surprised how easy it was to set up and how much enjoyment we all got from it ?
