This is an excellent 1:64 scale track set which is one of the best sets that we have. The set advises it is for four years and over and with the hairpin bend it is definitely a track for the older racer. You do need to judge the bend and slow down for it and especially if you are in the tighter bend track (on the inside of the bend but outside of the track the rest of the way around) and quite a few times we have taken the bend too fast and the cars come off but thankfully the cars appear to be very solidly built and so far after several times shooting off the track they both still work perfectly. As the set is a micro scalextric set it is intended for the younger racer and if you are planning on getting this as a beginners scalextric set for a young child then you may wish to look at a different set as there is a skill level involved with this track that our young son cannot yet manage and so I would say this was definitely a track for the older racer. The set comes with the following:-2 Cars (one is black and the other white and both have excellent decoration on them and attention to detail - these are my husbands favourite ): scale cars that we have)1 Transformer/Plug2 Hand Controllers1 x Power Base Track Piece1 x Short Straight Track Piece1 x Long Straight Track Piece2 x Medium Straight Track Pieces6 x Long Curved Track Pieces2 x Short Curved Track Pieces1 x Lap Counter Track Piece1 x Hairpin Bend Piece2 x Track Supports/Bridge Pieces1 x Spare Parts Pack (This includes 4 new pick-ups/braids/threads and 2 new guide blade plates)There are 15 pieces of track including the power base and all of the track pieces are fully interchangeable with other scalextric 1:64 track sets. There is the one circuit that is very easy and quick to build and dismantle and the cars stick to the track very well unless you take a corner too fast (such as the hairpin bend one) and then like any other set they fly off. Both controllers have adjustable dials on the side which you can turn with a screwdriver to restrict the trigger for younger racers and the instructions show you how to do this along with how to change the pick-ups/threads/braids too along with track maintenance. This is an excellent set and has provided lots of entertainment for our family and in particular my husband who loves this set. The cars are really well made and you can tell a bit more effort has gone into these than some of the other cars we own. I think one of the other reasons my husband likes the set so much is that the cars are little Audi's and that there is a bit more skill required for racing on this set than some of the others we have especially with the hairpin bend. The lap counter is a welcome addition to the track and we have also used this on other sets we have that didn't come with their own lap counter. At the time of writing this review there was no price listed for me to advise if this is value for money or not but it is certainly an excellent set and has given our family a lot of entertainment value so far.

Excellent car racing model set from Hornby, I generally think of Hornby more as the train sets and towns to scale models but this is likely to appeal to anyone interested in a race track for that purpose or who is interested in racing as a table top gaming pursuit. This is an easy to assemble out of the box set, the box itself contains a cardboard inlaid mold which makes packing and unpacking the track, cars, twin controller and plug and lead less difficult, and easy to follow instructions are included. There are three inlay cards, one with illustrated descriptions of the track pieces included in the set, one with instructions of track, car and controller maintenance and finally instructions for control. When assembling the track for the first time it is a good idea to set all the pieces out as illustrated as some pieces of track are already attached in the box and appear like other pieces of track featured in the illustration (I think its a D and E part of track is similar to an F or something like that). The controllers worked fine for me but there is a means to adjust them for control and speed for new users, maybe younger users, with a simple adjustment by screwdriver. There is a lap counter included as part of the track (approaching this at the wrong speed will stop the car though, three is only one other part of the track, a semi-circular feature which requires checking speed). The controllers and plug connectors are simple and straightforward but the lead to the plug seemed short to me and I needed an extension lead and plug when racing. The cars are fantastic, they have a sort of magnetised connection to the track which I do not recall from race tracks like this which were popular when I was younger, the track itself locks together really well and there are no short outs or spin outs as a result, it is possible, with a little skill, to get the cars moving at really rapid speeds consequently. There are struts, two included, which can be used to raise the track requiring at little extra judgement about speed on turns or the "hill" it can be used to create.Really great fun and easy to assemble and disassemble. Recommended.

It has been a long time since I have used any Scalextric so I was actually quite excited to get my hands on this.First off the micro range is for younger racers and is designed to be a gateway into the scalextric world. The set itself was very easy to set and sports a number of good features to make it a touch easier for youngsters. The cars are extremely well detailed which is nice and are built a bit tougher to withstand the vigour’s of being used by youngsters. The magnets are extra strong too to help keep them on the track. The circuit was easy to assemble and features just over 4 metres of track. There’s plenty of bends and turns to keep things interesting and the cars have been designed to allow drifting and 360 spins to keep it exciting. There’s also a lap counter for keeping tally. The whole set is rather easy to setup and take down on a whim and makes it far more accessible as a result. This is a fantastic set and a great introduction to Scalextric. Even if it doesn’t develop into a full blown hobby, or you simply don’t have the space, then it’s ideal for picking up and putting down as needed for rainy day entertainment.

The fifteen track pieces are very easy to slot together to make the track shape shown on the box which is approximately four metres in total length. The two micro cars are Audi R8’s, one black and one white and both look amazing and are very detailed for their size. Both cars also feel very durable. There’s a lap counter and two controllers with adjustable dials to reduce the speed if needed to adapt for younger racers. The track itself is a great shape with a very nice hairpin bend. I would have liked a crossover track piece to add a little more excitement and also allow both players to take the hairpin inside and out. Both cars stick very well to the track but a little less gas on the bendswill guarantee you a smoother race as just like in the classic Scaletric’s and overzealous racer will find their cars flying off the corners and tumbling across the room.Overall it’s a solid track, very easy to assemble and the micro size means you can keep it set up without taking up too much room in the house. Definitely a winner.

I found this initially harder to fix together than the larger Scalextric kits - the track pieces are rather stiff an unyielding, and when adding the next section of track it's very easy to accidentally disconnect the previous one. I was also a little concerned when first switching it on that it didn't appear to work. However, a little fiddling with the track connections and the car contacts, and everything ran fine. In operation, it's a lot easier to keep the cars on-track than with the larger sets - I actually had the car going around the track 3 or 4 times at maximum speed, without decelerating, before it came off. This makes it a bit less of a challenge, but also means it would be suitable for younger kids who are unable to control cars on the bigger set.

All parts in the box, so that was a good start. Some pieces already joined together so make sure you follow the picture of the finished set as per the box. Scale, speed and difficulty was suitable for 12 year old child it was gifted to. Details on the car were amazing and it's a perfect beginners level model. Don't expect them playing for days on end but defintely worth a wet afternoon. Controllers to small for adult hands but perfect for children. You can make adjustments to speed but not being an expert stayed well away from that. Absolutely perfect first set for children.

I left this to my kids to set up (aged 9 and 12) and they managed it perfectly inside around 10 minutes - the track is larger than I expected but still takes up less room than a "proper" racing set.The cars (2 very smart audi's) stay on the track well but will come off it you don't slow down for some of the bends - so this is an excellent introduction to the full on slot racing fun. They also managed to pack it away quickly and easily - so this is a a definite plus for me.Must admit I enjoyed it as well!

Bought for 6 year old. I have to put the track together as it is fiddly and can be a bit stiff/tight. Used on/off for 6 months. Replaced the cars 'contact strips' 3 times due to wear (Easy!). Cars can fly off sometimes on the outside track. So we swap over after each race. You can change the sensitivity of the controller and at the moment they are on the lowest setting and we keep the 'accelerator' pinned. Must change it. We have great fun........We're not competitive.........My turn on the inside next!!!

Pretty good. When it works flowing well the kids really like it. Bit tricky at start to get connected but fine once mastered. Cars can be a bit temperamental and appear to require some bedding in.Had initial problems with altering the sensitivity of the controller but OK now. Some people complain about pieces missing but check the box carefully as some smaller pieces are already connected making the appearance of one piece rather than two or three.Overall would recommend.

This is a huge amount of fun. Everything came out of the box in top condition and it took very little effort to get the track slotted together and for the racing to begin. The track doesn't feel too small - which was something I was concerned about ahead of time - so you get plenty of opportunity to get your race on.This has good appeal for both existing and new fans of Scalextric - the reduced size certainly helps make it less intrusive on the rest of the household!

I love Scalextric with a passion and had a small set that myself and my son nearly wore out lol.. this is a medium sized set which is a definite upgrade from a figure of eight set. The track is really interesting and took around 20 minute to build, the cars are also great (GT Edition, look like Nascars) and the whole set is really good and fits well on the lounge rug. I can't fault this in anyway and therefore a full five out five and strongly recommended.

Great little set that will give hours of entertainment for the kids. Cars a little sticky/jerky to start with but soon ironed themselves out. Thought during initial set up that a couple of corners were missing but turned out the two shorter ones were clipped together in the box so looked like one of the longer curves.

Similar to my review on another micro scalextric set, this is very good and works especially well if you have less space in your home as its a bit smaller than the usual size scalextric sets. Lots of fun for everyone in the family and enough track to be quite creative with your configurations. Highly recommended.

Great racing cars and economical with space. The black car seems to come off the track easier than the white one. Good fun all round and our six year old grandchild loves it.

Enormous Christmas fun for three generations. Worked best on table-top and has to be treated gently!
