The Hot Wheels 'Volcano Blast' Track Set is another addition to the Hot Wheels tracks which you can collect and add on to your ever expanding track.WHAT YOU GET:The Volcano Blast Track Set comes in a large cardboard box in numerous pieces that require assembly. Along with all of the various track pieces you also get a set of stickers to put on parts of the track, and one Hot Wheels car. You also get a fold-out instruction manual that takes you through the assembly process.THE ASSEMBLY:The assembly is relatively straight forward. The instruction manual takes you through the nine stages of the assembly with clear pictures and very little in the way of accompanying writing.Assembly took around 10 minutes, which included putting on the various stickers.IN USE / FEATURES:Once fully assembled you can load on a total of eight Hot Wheels cars. Once this is done you need to wind up the plastic crank on the side until you feel some resistance. Then push down on the Hot Wheels release mechanism and watch as one car after the other is released down the volcano tracks (see accompanying video). When the first car goes through the Aztec doorway the spring-loaded door blasts upwards (see accompanying video).Along with the four volcano tracks the set also includes a track which goes straight through the mouth of the volcano skull. When it hits the teeth the mouth blasts open and the skull eyes wake (again, see accompanying video).SUMMARY:The whole point of these Hot Wheels tracks is that you can buy various sets, combine them together, and have a much larger track that takes the cars through various tricks and obstacles. With this Volcano Blast set you're able to position it as a central piece, with tracks running off from all corners and from the front and back, leading on to your other track sets.It should be noted that you really do need other Hot Wheels tracks and additional cars to get the full benefit of the Volcano Blast set. My five year old son is very keen on the Hot Wheels sets. He's got numerous cars and sets now, and so was over the moon to be able to add this one to his tracks. However, it should also be noted that not all Hot Wheels cars can fit through all of the tricks/obstacles. One of my son's trucks (an official Hot Wheels one) gets stuck on a number of the tricks. However, all in all he's very happy with it - and it does look good as a focal point in the middle of his other Hot Wheels tracks.

This impressive Hot Wheels Track Builder starter kit is a great way to start your Track Builder collection and build an epic world of Hot Wheels tracks! It is suitable for children aged 4 onwards. This kit comes with pieces of orange track, a split loop, ramps, launchers with connection points and underneath, two 90-degree track turns, multiple connectors, instructions and much more! It also includes one Hot Wheels vehicle so the racing fun starts straight out of the box.The instructions provides you four different ideas to build your track. We built the first design using the instructions and were very impressive with the speed and movement of the cars. The tracks are easy to slide through but to get them out,you need to twist slightly to get the blue connector off the track. I had to help Mr K to do most of the connections as he was not strong enough to slot them properly. Many of the items in this kit have more than one use, so kids can keep their imaginations and their tracks growing with a series of nearly endless configurations. So after we played with the first build, my son decided to ditch the instructions and start building his own track. He enjoyed using the launchers and was very pleased with the speed of the car. After owning a couple of Hot Wheel tracks, I think this is one of the best tracks we have ever had. The materials are much softer and easy to slot in. The car managed to stay in the track most of the times and it launched and travelled a good distance. We are very well impressed. We have also made a video over our Instagram account, click to watch it in action.Best of all, the utility handle can be used as a hook for a gravity drop or to hold all the components in the kit together for simple storage and easy portability. How cool is that! I would definitely recommend this.Disclosure: We received the sample for the purposes of writing this review however all thoughts and opinions remain our own.

The Hot Wheels Volcano Blast was easy to assemble, following clear diagrams in the instruction leaflet. The only tricky bit was aligning the fiddly Hot Wheels logo stickers onto the sign at the top of the volcano, which I ended up tearing.Once assembled it takes up quite a large footprint on the floor, and unfortunately is quite difficult to take apart again. It would be nice if it could be easily dissembled or folded for storage, like the Play and Go Thomas toys. One of the problems is that modern Hot Wheels track uses a raised tab on the track connectors that clip into notches on the track. Although this keeps the tracks tightly connected, it makes it very difficult to pull the tracks apart again, especially for young children. (It was so much easier to take Hot Wheel tracks apart when I was young.)The toy seems pretty tough, however after a few days of being assembled, dissembled and reassembled in alternative ways by my inquisitive sons, some of the track and the plastic connector strips are looking a bit buckled and fatigued. The car launch mechanism works well. You can load eight cars onto the volcano, press the sign at the top, and a clockwork leaver rotates inside the volcano releasing each car in turn. The clock work uses a windup mechanism, so no batteries are needed. The toy only comes with one car but, let’s face it, most of us will have many Hot Wheel and Matchbox cars lurking in toy boxes. My two you sons have really enjoyed playing with this over the past few days, but it does take up a lot of floor space, and I’ll rue the day they ask for even more track to extend it.

This takes up a lot of space when set up and we set it up in the living room instead of the spare room and found it hard to take apart when not in use. We kept losing cars under the sofa and got a bit fed up moving the furniture to retrieve the cars. That said the grandsons enjoyed playing with it and said we need to buy more tracks to make it more fun, but then it would take over which ever room we put it in and it is very difficult to keep putting it up and taking it down without damaging it. Where as the old version was easy to do this as it was more flexible.Because there were only one car with it we had to go buy some more so both boys could play without them fighting over the one car,at least 2 cars would have been better in this set, in case the child you are buying for doesn't have any of these hot wheels cars.We found it easy to assemble, the instructions are clear and precise. It seems a very robust structure and was worried that one of my grandson was being a little rough but it took the constant playing and knocking about without any fuss or damage. They liked that could load 8 cars and watched them race and do stunts, they played noisily but happy for a few hours. They have enough room in the bedroom to set this up plus more kits, so that is an idea for Christmas we are thinking.Nice well made kit which did provide hours of fun, but wished it was easier to take apart for storing when not in play for a few days. But the grandsons loved it and had fun with it, so that makes it a worthwhile toy.

Love it! This set is great fun, and while it can be improved with the additional of other track sets, it has enough on its own to be great fun, except that you need extra cars. For that I deducted a star - I guess the assumption is that your child already has plenty of cars to use, but given that it can take eight cars, shipping it with four would have been reasonable, but it comes with just one.Anyway, apart from that, it packs a lot of excitement and has plenty of configuration options to keep the interest level going. With Hot Wheels there are always plenty of options, from adding other sets, or just being creating, such as using our existing collections of Brio tunnels and Lego bricks. The basic mechanics of the volcano is that you load the cars at the top and they are released by a clockwork timer, one by one. It is simple, but effective.Warning: it takes a lot of space and if your child's bedroom doesn't have enough space that means it will need to be used in a family area. We have an area at the end of the lounge which the children can use without creating horrendous tip hazards, and it is just fine in there.Overall: this is going to make a great Christmas gift, and the RRP of £36.99 is a fair price; I'm sure you will be able to get it for less in the coming weeks. If you are buying as a gift, also buy a set of cars unless you already have plenty. A set of 5 cars

This Hot Wheels set is really very good. It's a lot of fun to build and play with, the design is very clever.I've never played with one before, but hubby remembers his Hot Wheels cars of the early 70's with fond memories and says that they are just as good as ever. In fact, probably better now that there are so many cars and play sets to choose from. The volcano is easy to build but the stickers need a steady hand to stick them on with. The picture instructions are easy to follow and the whole build took us about 10 minutes. The various parts clip together smoothly and importantly, unclip easily too, so you can get it all back in the box.The only thing that this set needs is more cars to be included. One car is included... One! It says in the instructions 'Load 8 cars'. I think there should be at least two cars included, if not four. Make sure the child who will be playing with this set either a) has plenty of cars already, or b) buy some extra to avoid a major anti-climax on Christmas morning. (The 5-packs on Amazon are currently about half price if you need to buy some).Overall, this is a fabulous Hot Wheels set which can be linked with additional track and stunts. 5 stars.

Love it because my grandchildren just get so much fun from it. At 50 watching two little children take such joy from a simple thing is wonderful and of course takes me back to my youth when these things were big news back in the early 70's.In reality its not made to last but there is something timeless about letting cars scoot down a track and jump off the end. The bibs have their favourite cars for each task and it's all serious stuff. I have the fastest one because of course because I don't play fair and lubricate the wheel shafts....There is a kind of launch thing that you put your car into and then press and release. This can also be set up to go off automatically if you configure the track right. The grandkids don't bother with it too much. They - like me 40 years ago like putting one track up high and letting cars shoot down it from different heights. For that you will also need to buy a clamp so add another tenner to your budget.Overall a simple toy that in these days of computers and tablets is still as fascinating for small children as it ever was.

I bought one of these a while ago for my boys (4 and 6). It is a great value Hot Wheels starter set... containing 2 launchers, a loop, 2 bends and quite a few pieces of straight track. The track, and particularly the connectors are very sturdy so you don't get any bending at the joints like you did with older track. The only thing that's missing, in my opinion, is a gravity clamp, which used to be a feature of old Hot Wheels sets. There are a couple of downsides... the first being that you only get 1 car in the set... the second being that the connectors are a new format and therefore not compatible with older Hot Wheels track... The new track can be used with old track using the old connectors though.Edit - I discovered that if you turn the new connectors upside down, they work with the old track... and they are far more sturdy than the old ones!Overall an excellent introduction to Hot Wheels, or as an addition to your kids collection.

This has been a big hit in our house. It has really amused my boys, who love playing with it.I found it easy to assemble and it didn't take too long to do. It is rather large and so does take up a lot of floor space. It is bright and colourful so stands out in my fairly neutral living room! The boys love firing the cars off the volcano and have made up racing games and other challenges based around the set. One downside is that it is only supplied with one car. As 8 cars can be used with the set, I think that this isn't really enough. It was lucky that we already had some hot wheels vehicles. The set can also be extended with other hot wheels sets - think there may be one on Christmas lists.Overall, very pleased.

I got this item for my two nephews aged 2 and 4 and they love it! It does require some assembly but it is all pretty straight forward and then is just simple and easy to play with. It's bright and colourful, can be taken down to put away and doesn't require any batteries or electricity. There are, however, two downsides. Firstly, this is pretty big. It takes up a lot of floor space which is a bit inconvenient. The second is that it only comes with one car. I know more cars can be purchased but it would have been nice if two or three were included - especially since kids this young have an amazing ability to lose their cars as soon as you hand them over!Overall though, this is a great toy at a decent price.

My son loves his hot wheels track bits and is going to be chuffed on his birthday to receive this. Me and hubby put it together and had a cheeky play. We loved it.The mountain holds 8 hot wheels or similar sized cars, wind it up, press the hot wheels sign and it gradually lets each car down. The cars then hit various obstacles, including a dinosaur skull which catches the car, 2 swing door obstacles and one which shoots a "tomb stone" in the air when the car hits it.There is also a track which goes underneath the mountain. You launch the car and it raises the skull face when it reaches it.We found it easy to put together. There's no screw or batteries required. It requires quite a bit of floor space.

The volcano is quite easy to construct and tale to pieces. Importantly, it's reasonably solid, too, which means it works well, but is also easy to take down and store. It comes with a Hotwheels car, but it is worth having a few as this comes into its own with eight cars. There's a wind up key, which allows you to set the cars around the top of the volcano. Push down the top and all the carscare released one at a time. My girls enjoy this as it's quite exciting. However, one thing I will say about this, is it probably is better with other Hotwheels sets as it allows you to hook them all up.All in all though, this is pretty cool. :-)

This is a great toy for kids of all ages. It's simple to set up and offers various different ways to play and different paths to take! It's a reasonable size so looks quite impressive when it's built up and my little one (nearly 4) seems to spend ages just playing and making up stories with the this.Only real down side is that it only comes with one car, which seems a little bit of a shameless cash in for Hot Wheels (would play so much better with at least 2-3 cars) but ultimately the kids love it and that's all that matters!

Cool little starter kit. My 2 year old loves watching the car zoom around the loop. Was he develops, he may be able to use the jumps too and buy extra bits of track to make it more elaborate if he gets into it. Well manufactured product, easy to assemble, and a Hot Wheels car is included in the box. Some stickers included too. Quick delivery too. All good.If this review was useful to you, please click "Helpful" below. Thank you!
