I bought this for my little boy's 2nd birthday and it was a big hit with him and his older brothers and sisters (eldest is 13!). It runs well on carpet although if you have laminate flooring then it really whizzes along. We have some old track from the My First Thomas range which this fits on which the kids think is great as it speeds around the track. My little boy finds the controls a little confusing in directing Thomas where he wants him to go but I'm sure he'll get the hang of it soon enough. My only complaint is that when it has been left idle for a while and you try to get it going, it won't work. Flicking the switch on the underside of Thomas off and back on again wakes him up though and he works again.Make sure you have a supply of AAA batteries in!The control and Thomas each take three. My little boy's birthday was yesterday and we've already had to replace the batteries in Thomas by bedtime. It also doesn't come with batteries so make sure you have them and a small screwdriver ready.

Bought this for our one year old - it’s a massive hit. He was able to use the remote control straight away as its really easy - obviously he doesn’t know how to steer it but loves hitting the buttons and laughs as it whizzes around. When it gets stuck against the wall etc it makes a whirring noise that is also amusing to him for some reason so that’s great too. The Thomas has phrases it says as it goes around - worth noting there is no way to turn these off whilst still using the remote to steer, but it’s not overly annoying so hasn’t been an issue. Very sturdy, it’s been lobbed about a lot. Only slight frustration which is minimal is if we leave it on over night etc it won’t work in the morningunless you turn it off and on again - means son can’t just use it without bringing it to us first.

This is a great, sturdy, very well made, remote controlled Thomas that our Grandson has had hours of fun with. This was bought to replace the one that our Grandson insisted on taking home with him and then forgets to bring back.It is so sturdy having been driven off the coffee table on several occasions and crashed into walls and furniture on a regular basis. The controls are simple just one button forward and one for reverse. When going forward Thomas goes straight, but in reverse it turns as it reverses enabling it to go back in the opposite direction. The original Thomas was bought for him when he was two years old and nearly a year on it is still going strong and not a mark on it.Reallywell made and I would highly recommend it.

First off I’ve noticed quite a few people have said the remote was dead and couldn’t get it working etc and same happened to me. I had to come back on amazon and read through and then also google it to get help. You need 6 aaa batteries, 3 for remote AND 3 for Thomas for this to work. There is a small screw underneath Thomas between the wheels and once you unscrew that, you get to the battery compartment. Its not made obvious in the slightest and unless you read the instructions ( which let’s be honest who does with these?) you will miss it and struggle. So don’t think it doesn’t work, batteries are needed for both. Once that was figured out, my 2 year old loves this, simple remote control and very easy to use.Happy I bought it

Bought this for a little girl who is Thomas mad. She is 2 and found the controls very easy to use. Been no problems using on both laminate and carpet floors. She has had many hours of fun using this toy. I took a while in deciding to buy as I noticed another remote controlled Thomas which is more expensive (also available on Amazon). After spending a while, comparing the two, I came to the conclusion that the massive price hike isn't worth it so I opted for this one. I'm glad I did! I would highly recommend this Thomas to any fan, I am sure they will get many hours of fun.

Purchased as a gift for my 2 year old Thomas obsessed nephew, and I am now definitely his favourite Aunt. The controls are easy to use, and Thomas manoeuvres well on the wood flooring and the plush carpets. There are also announcements and sounds emitted, but these are automatic and you have no control over them.My nephew finds the remote control easy to handle and use, and for some reason he thinks it is hysterically funny when he sets Thomas into reverse. My only criticism is the amount of batteries needed; 3 for the remote control and 3 for Thomas. 4½ stars

This nice sized toy (bigger than the wooden tracks trains) travels wellon carpets and hard floors and if easy for a young child to use with its simple controls and large buttons. And enjoyed by adults too!Thomas travels straight forward and reverses by turning meaning that he doesn't often get stuck. Two year old loves it!Makes a noise when turnd on and as he travels - no volume control but quieter and less annoying than other noisy toys.Does get through batteries. When put away make sure nothing pressing on the controls to save power.

Our nearly two year old son loves this and though he prefers it when we drive it around, he's mastered the buttons. It is incredibly fast and spinny on hard floors once new batteries are in it, so watch out for that! Our neighbours little boy is a tad older and hates it when it's on as it's a bit too hectic for him. But he still plays with it without it being on- so best check on your little one's capability to deal with the speedy onslaught! (I felt a little overwhelmed when i tested it before he got it- it's full on!)

My 3 yr old son received this as a gift last Christmas and it has been a firm favourite ever since. The controls are easy to use for a toddler and he loves the phrases and sound effects Thomas makes as he is a big Thomas fan. Bought this as a gift for my 1yr old nephew this Christmas and he too loves it although still needs some help with the controls. You need 6 x AAA batteries and the toy comes without any in so make sure you stock up! I find the batteries last extremely well in it. A great gift for any Thomas fan

bought this for our 2yr old grandson he loved it once we were able to get it out of the box, its secured into the cardboard so well he was getting impatient its secured by large plastic buttons you just have to turn these & it comes off . Please be aware this takes 6 batteries 3 in train & 3 in remote I read the box & thought it only took 3 batteries so bought 1 pack of 4 so wasn't prepared for 6 so had to raid stereo remote but once this was sorted we had one happy little boy

I bought this after reading the description online and the size says 33cm x 15cm. My son loves Thomas and I was really looking forward to receiving this big version for him. On getting it I was more than disappointed as the actual size is much much smaller at 13cm x 9cm. However, aside from this advertising issue, the actual toy is brilliant and my son does love it anyway. It does exactly what is says and my 2 year old can work it easily, I would definitely recommend this toy.

Bought this when it was on offer; the remote is large, and simple - forward, or reverse (with a turn). My son is still young and doesn't understand how to control this, however he loves to chase after it and try and catch it. It goes on carpet (albeit a bit slower) and is fantastic on hard floors. My son likes to pick things up and bash them - and so far this has withstood being bashed on the table, thrown down onto the wooden floor, and is still working fine.Would recommend.

I had read the reviews and wanted to view the product for myself. I did think it was a bit small, but my two year old son loves Thomas so I bought it. He had it for his birthday and could work it straight away. It is quite a nippy engine which surprised me, i did not expect it to go as fast as it does. I am glad I bought it now I just wish it would have been a little bit bigger, hence why only 4 stars. My steps sons and eldest son love it too, ages four, five and ten.

Although this is a toy for aged 18months+, my 5 year old loved it! Kept him entertained for ages making obstacle courses for Thomas to go round, however a down side is he only has two buttons one to drive forwards and the other to go backwards round a corner, which made it very difficult to get him to go the way we wanted. However, after several hours practice we managed to drive him ok.He does need a lot of batteries tho, and Argos sold me the wrong ones!

Bought this remote Thomas the Tank for our 16mth old Grandson who’s a big Thomas fan. Argos made it so simple to deliver it to another address as we couldn’t deliver it ourselves because of the lockdown! It arrived on the Saturday morning and it’s quality, size and ease of use was brilliant even for someone as young as he is! The simple 2 button remote is great! Would definitely recommend it and of course Argos as the place to get it from! Thank you Argos!
