Back in the mists of time - the 1970's in my case - small boys were captivated by a small bit of plastic track and as I recall a fairly useless clamp that locked it onto a convenient formica table...Fast forward close on fifty years and I have two grandchildren - twin boy and girl - of nearly six years old. And both fascinated by cars and trucks. Whilst my daughter has not followed some PC child rearing fad, what she found - as well as my wife and I - is that both children prefer 'boy's toys and my granddaughter showed zero interest in dolls or other rubbishy things. Nope. Cars and trucks because they are way cooler.And thus they have vast amounts of HotWheels track and this is set is a superbaddition to there already epic track and cars collection.What I love about this is that it achieves a few things. Firstly, its not a computer game or tablet based app and yet still manages to hold 'The Bubs' attention for ages as they faff around choosing the correct car, making track set ups and adjusting things to get the right kind of major traffic accident. Secondly, I like it too. This is important because if the adult likes it then there is a far better chance of all generations interacting more and that is in my opinion a 'Good Thing.'Thirdly it requires practical skills that help children develop. It's clearly not designed as a 'Learning toy,' but that's what makes it good. It's fun. And that means children will use it and it's better than many so called teaching toys.Downsides. Well lets be honest HotWheels is quite expensive for a bit of plastic. The cost of design and prototyping will be relatively high of course but even so, the truth is this is fairly pricey. And it won't stop there. Naturally more cars will need to be purchased and inevitably more track. To counter this it does offer the entire family an easy birthday and Christmas present out. Just buy more track and cars. Kids will be more than happy.This set uses batteries and as someone else says, it eats them. I can live with that because I buy in bulk the Amazon Basics stuff.Overall, for the grandchildren - and me - this is a great toy.

This is a great Hot Wheels set, not that this is unusual as most Hot Wheels sets are pretty cool and have some nice features. However this one has several that lift it above the average. Firstly it is a reasonably comprehensive track with cross-overs, jumps, and high speed curves. But added to that it also has some speed launchers built in to keep the cars whizzing round the track at high speed, well until you get an awesome crash of course :)The best feature of all though has to be that the set itself when your little ones have finished playing with it simply folds up for storage!! Unlike most Hot Wheels that need to be disassembled and stored with the potential of lost pieces and time taken to disassemble and reassemble next time your kiddies want to play.This set can simply be placed where you want it and unfolded and off you go, minimal effort and maximum fun!There are connections on this set to allow it to be hooked up with other Hot Wheels sets which of course is pretty much standard, but gives you that extra little play value because you can add to your little ones play value by adding sets and increasing his or her enjoyment.Value is pretty good, however if there is one thing I would criticise it would be that it should come with more than 2 cars as then you can get some true chaos going by zooming multiple cars round the circuit simultanously and the prospect of truly huge crashes and lets face it just like formula one racing who doesn't like to see near misses or even catastrophic crashes (so long as nobody is hurt of course!). But this criticism is pretty minor as most little ones will already have some Hot Wheels cars around or if not they can be obtained fairly inexpensively :)

#NOTE: If you do decide to go for this, you will need six 'D' batteries to use this product. There are two cars included, but for more chaos, I would recommend getting some more if you haven't got them already.Colossal Crash is probably one of the more exciting Hot Wheels sets - there are two main tracks both of which cross the other tracks paths for a "danger zone" where there is a chance of the cars colliding with each other and of course to keep the momentum going are the booster wheels to keep the cars lapping continuously, then to add further to the track, you can choose whether the cars are going to stay put on ground level or force them to make a jump, whichever route you choose,the cars whizz around the track effortlessly.Just with two cars at once you will be surprised at how many close calls there are, they do actually cross each others paths eventually even if you do initiate both at the same time; when they do just miss each other it certainly does add to the excitement. Add more cars and you are going to have a lot of crashes at hand, just as the name suggests.Putting together took 20 minutes tops with the hardest bit, removing the tightly packed contents from the box (good luck getting them back in). The instructions I found to be very clear which made the assembling a breeze.This set is fairly big overall but it's nice to see they have spent time making a set that can fold to a point to make it take up a little less space when not in use - still of course takes up room but not AS much.Overall, this is a cracking set - it's a shame there is no direct power so have to rely on batteries.... but it's a fantastic set, so would highly recommend.

This is simply huge and awesome! It's relatively easy to assemble and can stay folded up under a bed or in a large cupboard - which is much better than the tracks which have to be painstakingly assembled and then broken up again to put away after the play session.It arrived with no extra packing or protection meaning that the box was damaged and we were fortunate not to lose parts or the two hot wheels cars the set contains. Only two cars is a bit mean and I think a good half-dozen would have been more appropriate - still many folk will already have lots of these, and you can buy a starter set relatively easy if not cheaply to add to the collection.Also don't forget the 6 D batteries required if you are gifting this to a child as the boosters won't work without them. Remember also that it is quite complicated to set up - so do allocate some time to help! The supplied 'destructions' are adequate but if you have space to leave it set up I'm sure that is preferrable to reassembly ever time you want to play with it! The set collapses conveniently and folds up for relatively easy storage.Once together and working it is great fun! The double figure-8 track is over 5 feet wide and the sling action gets the cars speeding round the track until they eventually crash and smash, causing great hilarity from the grandchildren!

It's plastic - like most toys these days, but once put together it is fairly sturdy and boy is it epic.Never been much into these hot wheels things but once I got this and put it together for my 7 yr old nephew, I have to say, I gave it a go and it reminded me a bit of the good old scalectrix. He was happy, and you know boys, they love smashing and crashing.Easy to put together but for younger boys (5-7 ish) I think they would need a little help because some of the interlocking pieces can be a bit fiddly to do but once it is together it is great.He had hours of fun with this and now actually looks forward to coming around and not having to play with girls toys (my daughters). In fact,he did rope my youngest daughter at one point, who also enjoyed it but got a little fed up of it smashing all the time (which is the point really).Bigger than you think. It says on the (VERY LARGE) box 1.5m of track but you would think that as it's curved and overlapping it's relatively small but it surprises you!Great that it comes with 2 cars so you can play straight away. Perfect for Christmas.In a word - 'Epic'!

This review is for the hoteheels colossal crash circuit.The negative.. the product arrived in the actual hotwheels box, it was not wrapped over covered in any way so right away on delivery everyone (including your kids) will know what it is! So be warned if buying for Christmas!The positive: this toy is amazing!! The item comes in rather large box and was relatively easy to setup but will take an adults help.Once setup the track is massive and so much fun!! My son has over 100 hotwheels cars and he loves playing with this and making the car compete against each other.The price is rather high but for the amount of play he will get it’s worth it. We have paid similar for other toys in the past where the playability is a lot less than this.Also there is no age limit to hotwheels, everyone old and young loves playing with it so its Likely to get used for years to come!

So glad I was at home when this was delivered as the box is huge and would be a bit hard to hide if it was for a gift.Hot wheels have been around for years and it just seems to get better as time goes by.This set my son is amazed by it as its so big - it was really easy to set up, folds away for easy storage and my children have had many hours crashing and smashing cars up.You get 2 hot wheels cars which it don’t say about in the description which was a nice surprise as I was not expecting them.It’s over 1.5m wide so you do need a big space to play, the design is a double figure of 8 and it has special functions like speed boasters, levers to rocket space your cars into space (quote from my son)it fits all hot wheels cars so no extra money is needed to buy any special ones.It’s your standard hot wheels quality you just can’t go wrong with this brand.

I was definitely unprepared for the size of this set and our plans for it will have to altered. We actually got it for our 5 year old great grandson but now I see i,t it would be to much for him on his own. His Dad cannot stop smiling because obviously he thinks its great. It takes 6 Batteries .It is not too difficult to set up, a little fiddly and it does take some time. I think the adults in the family will get more use of it . It goes without saying it is well made and all parts fired together well. tHere are 2 cars with it but already plans are afoot to buy more. It will provide hours of fun but I have lost my conservatory as that is the only place it will go.I think it is great for family fun and will get a lot of use at Christmas when we are all together.

This was delivered by Amazon , I signed for it .This set even inside it's box is massive ! It lays lengthways across my hallway .I haven't opened it yet as it's to be a present ,it will be used along with the HotWheels cars we have already collected .This is a great value set . At the time of writing this review it was on offer for £60 which isn't a lot considering the years of use it's going to have . Even at full price it can still be purchased for under £75I have noticed that it Takes 6 D batteries which will be gifted with it .I will update this review when it has been opened and played with .

This was not too hard to assemble but crikey it is huge. It takes up a massive amount of space on its own before you even think of trying to add any other Hot Wheels track to it if you have any additional sets. The included cars zoom around brilliantly and it is great testing out timing to cause or avoid crashes. Added fun with testing any other cars you already own on the track. It is pretty noisy once going though! Getting rechargeable batteries is probably a good idea as they aren't included. Great toy overall though.

My Son loves Hot Wheels as has a large Hot Wheels city set-up in his bedroom with multiple tracks, car parks etc and of course cars.This is one of the larger sets and so might be worth checking out the dimensions for space. Like other sets this can of course be used with other Hot Wheels cars and can be happily played with alongside other sets or as a stand alone set.

This thing is massive! So big that amazon don’t have a box to fit it so if Santa is delivering this to you before the big day, make sure the little ones are elsewhere.The racetrack requires 6 batteries and is a bit fiddly to set up. My 7 and 3 year old have played with it endlessly. It does take up a lot of room though.Great fun.

Arrived in its own box so beware if you have little ones around when this is delivered as don’t want to spoil the surprise!!It is very big once set up!!Was pretty easy to put together,My sons and husband have had hours of fun with this!Good quality toy,It’s says cars not included but it comes with 2.Also need 6 D batteries!!

Present for Christmas. Easy to assemble and sturdy. However it’s a toy that quickly looses its enjoyment as there isn’t much for a child to do once it’s on. I probably should of got the garage set rather than this one

For a child who loves everything hotwheels this is a great track, not every car works in this track so lots of trial and error finding the right ones, quite big even when folded away so plenty of space needed
